Abstract

The dynamic model of boom-system on concrete-pump was built,and the optimization analysis was done to obtain the maximum pressure of the compressed rod and the posture of boom system at the exact situation. Two methods were adopted to analyse the rod’s static and dynamic performance,which avoids the defects of single analysis method. A compression experiment was done on the rod using the Self-balance loading test bed. The experimental result tells that bias placing the rod has some effect on the stability of the rod and the stress distribution on its plate.

Abstract

At present, analysis and design methods for a product’s carbon footprint are focused mostly on its existing structures, which are difficult to integrate with the conceptual design process of low-carbon, innovative products. To solve this problem, this study proposes a new low-carbon design method based on a multi-layer carbon footprint information model. The hierarchical carbon footprint information model is the combination of direct structural design elements with indirect design elements such as functions and principles. The study also proposes a method for qualitative/semi-quantitative carbon footprint calculation. To achieve this, design information is combined with product structure tree (PST) to form a greenhouse gas (GHG)-product structure tree (G-PST) based on the carbon footprint design information. The influence degree (Id) of each design element in the G-PST is evaluated by the analytical network process (ANP) method and the optimizable degree (Od) of each design element for low-carbon design is obtained. The low-carbon product design is divided into four categories—structure optimization design, principle optimization design, function optimization design, and process optimization design—and the corresponding innovative design strategies are proposed. The results of this research can effectively obtain and standardize various low-carbon design elements, and provide targeted methods and tools for guiding designers to implement innovative low-carbon designs. The effectiveness of this low-carbon design method proposed is then tested on a Haier automatic washing machine, EB72M2JD.

Abstract

Lateral root formation is coordinated by both endogenous and external factors. As biotic factors, plant growth‐promoting rhizobacteria can affect lateral root formation, while the regulation mechanism is unclear. In this study, by applying various marker lines, we found that volatile compounds (VCs) from Bacillus amyloliquefaciens SQR9 induced higher frequency of DR5 oscillation and prebranch site formation, accelerated the development and emergence of the lateral root primordia and thus promoted lateral root development in Arabidopsis. We demonstrated a critical role of auxin on B. amyloliquefaciens VCs‐induced lateral root formation via respective mutants and pharmacological experiments. Our results showed that auxin biosynthesis, polar transport and signalling pathway are involved in B. amyloliquefaciens VCs‐induced lateral roots formation. We further showed that acetoin, a major component of B. amyloliquefaciens VCs, is less active in promoting root development compared to VC blends from B. amyloliquefaciens, indicating the presence of yet uncharacterized/unknown VCs might contribute to B. amyloliquefaciens effect on lateral root formation. In summary, our study revealed an auxin‐dependent mechanism of B. amyloliquefaciens VCs in regulating lateral root branching in a non‐contact manner, and further efforts will explore useful VCs to promote plant root development. The volatile compounds from Bacillus spp. increase the frequency of prebranch site formation and further accelerated the emergence of lateral root primordia (LRP) from the primary root (PR) in Arabidopsis, resulting in a denser lateral root (LR) along the PR spatially. Abstract

The lack of information on the correlation between root causes and corresponding control criteria in the importance calculation of root causes of design problems results in less accurate determinations of core problems. Based on the interaction between customer needs, bad product parameters, and root causes, a hierarchical representation model of the design problem is established in this paper. A network layer of bad parameters, including various types of correlations, and a control layer, including technical feasibility and cost, are constructed. Then, a method based on the network analytic hierarchy process is proposed to rank the importance of root causes of the design problem and determine the core problems. Finally, a product design process based on the core problem solving is established to assist designers with improving design quality and efficiency. The design for the coolant flow distribution device in the lower chamber of a third-generation pressurized water reactor is employed as an example to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract

In China, the development of 14C dating is closely related to that of liquid scintillation counting (LSC). New demands are continuously made on LSC by 14C dating, and at the same time, the development of LSC promotes 14C dating. Benzene synthesis for 14C sample preparation was first developed in China in 1974 by the 14C Laboratory of the Department of History, Peking University. This has laid the foundation for 14C dating by β counting with LS counters. Initially, we used a modified conventional LS counter. Despite its poor detection efficiency and high background, it did make a great contribution to 14C dating and LSC in China. Additional 14C laboratories were established for the fields of archaeology, geology, geography, vertebrate paleontology, marine geology and seismology, for which 14C dating is becoming an important research tool. At present, over 50 14C laboratories have been established in China; 90% of the labs use LS counters for β counting, most of which are manufactured in China. 14C dating in China has been primarily concerned with sample synthesis techniques. Since 1979, we have developed three types of LS counters. One is of conventional design; the others are with anticoincidence shielding. We describe here an anticoincidence-shielded LS counter.

32. High-Dimensional Nb 2 O 5 with NbO 6 Octahedra for Efficient Electrocatalytic Upgrading of Methanol to Formate.

Abstract

Facilitating the selective electrochemical oxidation of methanol into value-added formate is essential for electrochemical refining. Here we propose a high-dimensional Nb 2 O 5 on Ni foam (Nb 2 O 5 -HD@NF) composite as anode for methanol oxidation reaction (MOR) for efficient production of formate. In an electrolyte containing 3 M methanol aqueous solution, the Nb 2 O 5 -HD@NF anode requires only 240 mV overpotential to deliver an industrial-level current density of 100 mA cm -2 with a formate Faraday efficiency of 100%. In situ Raman and electrochemical kinetic analyses reveal that the origin of the excellent activity in 3 M methanol electrolyte can be ascribed to the NbO 6 octahedra as active sites and the Lewis acid sites on the surface of Nb 2 O 5 -HD. This work may pave a way for the design of non-noble metal electrocatalysts with surface acidity engineering for the effective electrocatalytic upgrading of biomass molecules.
