With the development of wind power energy, the steel-concrete hybrid tower has been gradually popularized as the onshore tall wind turbine tower. To avoid the resonant response that brings violent damage to the wind turbine tower, the fundamental frequency of the hybrid tower must be carefully analyzed. This study develops a closed-form solution of the fundamental frequency of the hybrid tower, where the abrupt changes of cross-section and material properties, the effect of prestressing, and the mass and rotary inertia of the wind turbine are taken into account. It provides an effective way to obtain the fundamental frequency in the preliminary design of the hybrid tower. The effectiveness of the proposed solution is validated by comparing it with the results of finite element analysis, showing good agreement. By using the proposed solution, a parametric analysis is conducted to investigate the variation rules of the fundamental frequency to the design parameters. It indicates that with the variation of the proportion of the concrete/steel segments, the correlations between the fundamental frequency and the design parameters also change significantly. The parametric analysis conducted herein may provide instructive guidelines to adjust the parameters in the preliminary design of the hybrid tower.

Previous studies mostly focused on risky decision-making in older adults' decision-making, and seldom discussed the changes in social decision-making of the older adults with age. Most of the rare related researches are mainly behavioral research, so that we know very little about the neural basis of social decision-making changes in the older adults. This study intends to recruit young and old adults to participate in a modified version of the dictator game task, and to explore the changes in the pro-social behavior of the older adults and their neural basis through a combination of behavior and fMRI technology.

Through-core connection has been proven to be an ideal solution to ensure a rigid connection between steel beams and CFST columns. However, the traditional through-core connection sometimes encounters concrete filling problems. A modified through-core connection design with details of reduced flange width was therefore proposed. Through-core reinforcements were added as supplements for tension load transfer. The monotonic loading tests and comprehensive FE simulations were performed to investigate the load bearing performance and working mechanism of this modified connection. The results indicated that the modified through-core connection presented plasticity hinge failure at the beam end and crack formulation and progradation at the RC slab. The reduced flange width reduced the strength of the connection, but the reduction extent was limited. Due to the through-core construction, the majority of internal forces at the beam were directly transferred into the column. The through-core reinforcement can effectively participate in load bearing after the connection yields. The flange width reduction extent and the length of the reduction region must be controlled to ensure sufficient connection strength. The number of shear studs and TC reinforcements can influence the load bearing ability, and design suggestions are provided for the modified through-core connection.

To investigate the effect of RITA on TP53 mutant human mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) cell line Mino and its possible mechanism.Mino cells were cultured in RPMI-1640 and treated with RITA at a concentration of 0-16 μmol/L for 24,48,72 hours. Cell viability was assessed by CCK-8 assay. The cells were treated by RITA (0-8 μmol/L) for 48 h, the cell apoptosis induced by RITA was detected by annexin V/PI flow cytometry. Western blot was performed to evaluate the expression of protein BCL-2, Caspase-3, Cleaved Caspase-3, PARP, MDM2, and P53 in Mino cells.After treatment with 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 8, and 16 μmol/L RITA for 48 h, the proliferation inhibition rate of Mino cells was (1.2±5.6)%, (14.9±4.9)%, (41.7±5.0)%, (61.8±2.4)%, (70.2±2.8)%, and (70.8±2.4)%, respectively. RITA could inhibit the proliferation of Mino cells significantly, and statistical analysis showed that the inhibition rate was increased with the increasing of RITA concentration (r=0.767). After the cells were treated by 4 μmol/L RITA for 24, 48, and 72 h, the proliferation inhibition rate was (25.2±3.8)%, (61.8±2.4)%, and (87.0±0.7)%, respectively. Satistical analysis showed that the inhibition rate was also increased with the increasing of treatment time (r=0.978). The apoptosis rate of Mino cells treated by 0, 2, 4, and 8 μmol/L RITA for 48 h was (5.4±0.4)%, (15.3±0.6)%, (38.7±1.7)%, and (50.8±1.1)%, respectively, and it showed dose-dependent manner (r=0.961). Western blot showed that with the increasing of RITA concentration, the BCL-2 protein expression was decreased in a dose-dependent manner (r=0.932), moreover, PARP cleavage and Caspase-3 activation were found, while the protein expression of MDM2 and P53 showed no change.RITA can inhibit the proliferation and induce the apoptosis of Mino cells significantly. Ice and snow on road surfaces can affect driving safety severely and cause accidents. Numerous active snow and ice removal technologies, such as conductive asphalt concrete, heating cables and pipes, have been developed in recent years. However, they reduce the lifetime of the pavement and cannot be applied on the existing roads. In this study, a novel conductive ultra-thin anti-skidding wearing course (CUAWC) is firstly proposed, which consists of a lower conductive layer and an upper wearing course. The conductive layer consists of a mixture of graphite, carbon fiber, and an epoxy resin adhesive. The optimal proportion of each additive was determined using an electrical conductivity test. The mass percolation threshold of graphite and carbon fiber in the conductive mixture were 25 and 4%, respectively. Freeze–thaw cycle and cyclic loading tests were conducted to evaluate the long-term skid resistance and resistivity fluctuation rate of the CUAWC. Finally, a laboratory de-icing test and a field snow melting test were performed. The CUAWC specimens had good skid resistance, good durability and stable resistivity, even after multiple freezing–thawing cycles and a million load cycles. Furthermore, the proposed CUAWC has lower resistivity and higher conductivity than traditional conductive asphalt concrete and can be laid on top of existing road surfaces.

BACKGROUND We investigated the relationship of the polymorphisms of SET and MYND domain-containing protein 3 (SMYD3) with risk and prognosis of ovarian cancer. MATERIAL AND METHODS The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification method was applied to detect the polymorphisms of variable number of tandem repeats (VNTR) in the SMYD3 gene promoter region for 156 patients with ovarian cancer (case group) and 174 healthy people (control group). This study explores the effectiveness of shape-memory-alloy (SMA)-based self-centring energy-dissipation bays (SCEDBs) for enhancing the seismic performance of high-strength-steel (HSS) frames. The work commences with the development of an ensemble of prototype HSS frames equipped with SCEDBs, known as HSSF-SCEDB structures. The prototype systems are examined using cyclic-pushover and nonlinear-response-history analyses (NL-RHAs). According to the analysis database, it is found that the cyclic-pushover responses generally show a typical flag shape over a wide deformation range and that the post-earthquake residual deformations are below 0.5%, even following maximum interstorey drifts beyond the codified deformation threshold (i.e. 2%). To offer a practical tool to engineers for damage-control behaviour evaluation and seismic demand estimation, we develop a multimodal nonlinear static procedure based on a modified energy-balance concept. Conventional procedures relating to the fundamental vibration mode are also revisited. The results indicate that a medium-rise HSSF-SCEDB may be appreciably influenced by higher vibration modes. The difference between the average maximum interstorey drifts calculated by NL-RHAs and those obtained using the proposed procedure for an ensemble of earthquake motions is generally below 5%, and the adequacy of the proposed method is confirmed.
