Nightmares influence the mental health of university students, but the prevalence of nightmare and nightmare disorder requires additional documentation. The data of detailed nightmare experience of nightmare disorder and related depressive mood in this population are also scarce. First, a total of 1,451 students in a comprehensive Chinese university were invited to report their nightmare frequency. Sixty-eight patients with nightmare disorder were diagnosed using a semi-structured clinical interview according to the "Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders" (5th ed.; DSM-5; American Psychiatric Association, 2013). Second, 60 patients with nightmare disorder (8 of 68 patients were dismissed due to data incompletion) and 124 gender-matched, healthy students were invited to answer the Nightmare Experience Questionnaire (NEQ) and the Plutchik-van Praag Depression Inventory (PVP). Of 1,451 students, 923 reported nightmares (its annual prevalence was 63.61%), and 68 were diagnosed with nightmare disorder (its prevalence was 4.69%), with a female preponderance. The mean PVP and four NEQ scale scores in patients were higher than those in healthy students. The PVP scores were correlated with NEQ Physical Effect in patients, and with Negative Emotion in healthy students. This is the first report regarding nightmare disorder prevalence and detailed nightmare experience in university students. The findings of a high prevalence of nightmare disorder in women and elevated scores of nightmare experience among patients in the university population might help address the mechanisms and the management of patients with nightmare disorder.

Calcium channel blockers are emerging as a new generation of attractive anticancer drugs. SKF96365, originally thought to be a store‐operated calcium entry (SOCE) inhibitor, is now often used as a TRPC channel blocker and is widely used in medical diagnostics. SKF96365 has shown antitumor effects on a variety of cancer cell lines. The objective of this study was to investigate the anticancer effect of SKF96365 on esophageal cancer in vivo and in vitro. Cell Counting Kit‐8 (CCK‐8) and colony formation were used to test the proliferation inhibition of SKF96365 on cell lines. Western blot and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) staining were used to detect cell apoptosis rates. In addition, we demonstrated the antitumor effect of SKF96365 in vivo in xenografted mice. As a result, SKF96365 significantly inhibited the proliferation of K510, K30, and EC9706 in vitro. SKF96365 induces apoptosis in three cell lines through the poly(adenosine diphosphate–ribose) polymerase (PARP), caspase‐9, and BCL‐2 pathways in a dose‐dependent and time‐dependent manner. Moreover, SKF96365 treatment also induced apoptosis and inhibited tumor growth in nude mice. The calcium channel TRPC1 was significantly downregulated by SKF96365. Autophagy was also induced during the treatment of SKF96365. In summary, SKF96365 induces apoptosis (PARP, caspase‐9, and BCL‐2) and autophagy (LC3‐A/B) by inhibiting TRPC1 in esophageal cancer cells, thereby inhibiting tumor growth. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Parent-child separation due to internal migration is prevalent in China. However, few studies have focused on the associations between different characteristics of parent-child separation and children's involvement in bullying. We conducted a cross-sectional study among 2,355 fifth-to eighth-grade students in China, using self-reported questionnaires to investigate the associations between children's bullying involvement (i.e., bullies, victims, bully-victims) and different characteristics of parent-child separation resulting from parental migration. Bivariate and multivariate analyses were conducted to explore these associations. Among all respondents, 17.3% reported being victims of bullying, 3.8% reported being bullies, and 2.7% reported being bully-victims. Compared to children with no left-behind experiences, those with current left-behind experiences were more likely to be victims and bully-victims. Children left behind by parent(s) at the age of three years or younger were more likely to be victims (aOR = 1.66, 95% CI [1.22, 2.25], p =.001), bullies (aOR = 1.88, 95% CI [1.02, 3.52]), and bully-victims (aOR = 2.17, 95% CI [1.04, 4.71]). Children left behind for seven years or longer were more likely to be victims (aOR = 1.49, 95% CI [1.12, 2.00], p =.007), bullies (aOR = 2.03, 95% CI [1.15, 3.69]), and bully-victims (aOR = 2.13, 95% CI [1.06, 4.50]). The identified characteristics of parent-child separation associated with bullying involvement hold implications for parental decisions regarding internal migration, interventions, and policymaking for preventing bullying among left-behind children. In this study, Ag-CaCO3 nanocomposites were synthesized using silver nitrate as the precursor solution based on calcium carbonate nanoparticles (CaCO3 NPs). The synthesis involved the reaction of calcium lignosulphonate and sodium bicarbonate. The properties of Ag-CaCO3 nanocomposites were studied by various technologies, including an ultraviolet–visible spectrophotometer, a transmission electron microscope, and a Raman spectrometer. The results showed that Ag-CaCO3 nanocomposites exhibited a maximum UV absorption peak at 430 nm, the surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) activity of Ag-CaCO3 nanocomposites was evaluated using mercaptobenzoic acid (MBA) as the marker molecule, resulting in an enhancement factor of 6.5 × 104. Additionally, Ag-CaCO3 nanocomposites were utilized for the detection of forchlorfenuron. The results demonstrated a linear relationship in the concentration range of 0.01 mg/mL to 2 mg/mL, described by the equation y = 290.02x + 1598.8. The correlation coefficient was calculated to be 0.9772, and the limit of detection (LOD) was determined to be 0.001 mg/mL. These findings highlight the relatively high SERS activity of Ag-CaCO3 nanocomposites, making them suitable for analyzing pesticide residues and detecting toxic and harmful molecules, thereby contributing to environmental protection.
