Engineering light-controlled K+ pumps from Na+-pumping rhodopsins (NaR) greatly expands the scope of optogenetic applications. However, the limited knowledge regarding the kinetic and selective mechanism of K+ uptake has significantly impeded the modification and design of light-controlled K+ pumps, as well as their practical applications in various fields, including neuroscience. In this study, we presented K+-dependent photocycle kinetics and photocurrent of a light-driven Na+ pump called Nonlabens dokdonensis rhodopsin 2 (NdR2). As the concentration of K+ increased, we observed the accelerated decay of M intermediate in the wild type (WT) through flash photolysis. In 100 mM KCl, the lifetime of the M decay was approximately 1.0 s, which shortened to around 0.6 s in 1 M KCl. Additionally, the K+-dependent M decay kinetics were also observed in the G263W/N61P mutant, which transports K+. In 100 mM KCl, the lifetime of the M decay was approximately 2.5 s, which shortened to around 0.2 s in 1 M KCl. According to the competitive model, in high KCl, K+ may be taken up from the cytoplasmic surface, competing with Na+ or H+ during M decay. This was further confirmed by the K+-dependent photocurrent of WT liposome. As the concentration of K+ increased to 500 mM, the amplitude of peak current significantly dropped to approximately ~60%. Titration experiments revealed that the ratio of the rate constant of H+ uptake (kH) to that of K+ uptake (kK) is >108. Compared to the WT, the G263W/N61P mutant exhibited a decrease of approximately 40-fold in kH/kK. Previous studies focused on transforming NaR into K+ pumps have primarily targeted the intracellular ion uptake region of Krokinobacter eikastus rhodopsin 2 (KR2) to enhance K+ uptake. However, our results demonstrate that the naturally occurring WT NdR2 is capable of intracellular K+ uptake without requiring structural modifications on the intracellular region. This discovery provides diverse options for future K+ pump designs. Furthermore, we propose a novel photocurrent-based approach to evaluate K+ uptake, which can serve as a reference for similar studies on other ion pumps. In conclusion, our research not only provides new insights into the mechanism of K+ uptake but also offers a valuable point of reference for the development of optogenetic tools and other applications in this field. Hydraulic control valves are widely used in industrial production, agricultural equipment, construction machinery, and other large power equipment for controlling the pressure and flow of fluids in hydraulic systems. The driving method has a significant impact on the response and control accuracy of hydraulic valves. This paper reviews the driving methods of spools from five aspects: solenoid drive, material expansion drive, motor drive, hydraulic valve drive, and another drive. It summarizes the various schemes currently available for spool drive and analyzes each of them. After optimizing the driving method of the valve core, the control accuracy can reach 3%, and the minimum response time is 7 ms. According to the characteristics of the different drive methods, the differences between them are compared, the advantages and disadvantages of each drive method are analyzed, and the application scenarios for each drive method are identified. Solutions to the drawbacks of the existing drive methods are proposed, which provide directions for further optimization. We have found that solenoid drives are simple to control, low cost, and the most widely used. Material telescopic drives, motor drives, hydraulic valve drives, and other drives are costly, complex to control, and optional for use in special requirement situations. Based on the existing spool drive methods, an outlook on future drive methods is presented. This review facilitates a comprehensive understanding of the drive methods of hydraulic valve spools, points out the shortcomings of the existing drive methods, and is of great significance in improving the existing drive methods and proposing new drive methods. Ferroelectric photoelectric devices show promising applications in artificial vision systems. However, this type of devices used in artificial vision systems exhibits low photoresponsivity and this limited cyclability of photocurrents, which hinders the progress of artificial vision systems. In this study, an artificial vision system is constructed with high photoresponsivity, fast photoresponse speed, and high read/write speed based on the Pd/PbZr0.4Ti0.6O3/La0.3Sr0.7MnO3/LaAlO3 ferroelectric photomemristor. The high optical response (18.86 nanoamperes) and read/write speeds (50 nanoseconds) of the device significantly improve the robustness and speed of the neuromorphic visual system while reducing power consumption for recognition. The artificial vision system developed in this study provides excellent real‐time image processing capabilities, including edge detection and classification with 100% accuracy for musical key patterns, and it is expected to offer great potential for the development of high‐performance self‐powered artificial vision systems. The distributed transmit beamforming has recently been discussed as an energy-effective technique in wireless communication systems. A common ground of various techniques is that the destination node transmits a beacon signal or feedback to assist source nodes to synchronize signals. However, this approach is not appropriate for a radar system since the destination is a non-cooperative target of an unknown location. In our paper, we propose a novel synchronization strategy for a distributed multiple-element beamfoming radar system. Source nodes estimate parameters of beacon signals transmitted from others to get their local synchronization information. The channel information of the phase propagation delay is transmitted to nodes via the reflected beacon signals as well. Next, each node generates appropriate parameters to form a beamforming signal at the target. Transmit beamforming signals of all nodes will combine coherently at the target compensating for different propagation delay. We analyse the influence of the local oscillation accuracy and the parameter estimation errors on the performance of the proposed synchronization scheme. The results of numerical simulations illustrate that this synchronization scheme is effective to enable the transmit beamforming in a distributed multi-element radar system. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In view of the complicated hydraulic system, the many driving parts and the great load variation in the combine harvester, and on-line monitoring methods of hydraulic actuating parts such as cutting tables, conveyors and threshing drums were studied. By analyzing the working principle of the hydraulic system of the combine harvester, a mathematical model of the hydraulic system of the combine harvester was established; a simulation model for the fault diagnosis of the hydraulic system of the combine harvester was established based on AMESim. The load signal was introduced to simulate the feeding amount, and the simulation test was carried out. According to the simulation analysis results, the best position of each monitoring point was determined. The on-line monitoring system of the hydraulic actuators of the combine harvester was designed by using LabView, which can collect and display the working parameters of the main working parts of a combine harvester in real time, and alarm the user to faulty working conditions. The field experiment results show that the function and precision of the monitoring system completely meet the requirements of field operation condition monitoring of combine harvesters. The accuracy rate of the fault alarm is 96.5%, and the automatic diagnosis time of the fault alarm is less than 1 min and 18 s, which greatly improves the operation efficiency of the combine harvester. In addition to a membrane anchor, the transmembrane domain (TMD) of single-pass transmembrane proteins (SPTMPs) recently has shown essential roles in the cross-membrane activity or receptor assembly/clustering. However, these small TMD peptides are generally hydrophobic and dynamic, difficult to be expressed and purified. Here, we have integrated the power of TrpLE fusion protein and a sequence-specific nickel-assisted cleavage (SNAC)-tag to produce small TMD peptides in a highly efficient way under mild conditions, which uses Ni 2+ as the cleavage reagent, avoiding the usage of toxic cyanogen bromide (CNBr). Furthermore, this method simplifies the downstream protein purification and reconstitution. Two representative TMDs, including the Spike-TMD from severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS2), were successfully produced with high-quality nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra. In this work, the influence of different N 2 /CO 2 contents (up to 60% in fuel volume) on combustion features of laminar-premixed CO/CH 4 /H 2 flame with various equivalence ratios (0.6-1.6) at standard conditions was numerically calculated using ANSYS CHEMKIN-PRO with the GRI-Mech 3.0 mechanism. The mole fraction profiles of the major species and the rate of production of dominant elementary reactions in the flames of CO/CH 4 /H 2 /N 2 /CO 2 /air were obtained. The effect of inert gas addition on the formation of NO X , H, O, and OH was analyzed, and the sensitivity coefficient of the active radical mole fraction was obtained. The results suggest that the addition of inert gas of the fuel mixture with various equivalence ratios reduces laminar burning velocity and adiabatic temperature, which have always had a good positive correlation and the maximum peak point shifted left. CO 2 has obvious inhibitory effect on the formation of NO by reducing the amount of O radicals and obstructing the conduct of the reaction of NNH + O ⇔ NH + NO, but it promotes the formation of NO 2 mainly through the reaction HO 2 + NO ⇔ NO 2 + OH. The reactions H + O 2 + H 2 O ⇔ HO 2 + H 2 O, H + O 2 ⇔ O + OH, and OH + CO ⇔ H + CO 2 are three very important reactions for the molar fractions of H, O, and OH that decrease significantly with an increase of inert gas concentration., Competing Interests: The authors declare no competing financial interest., (© 2021 The Authors.
