Objective To investigate the preventive nursing measures and risk factors analysis of lower extremity deep venous thrombosis (DVT $ after surgery for spinal compression fractures in middle-aged and elderly patients. Methods 90 middle-aged and elderly patients with spinal compression fractures who underwent precutaneous kyphoplasty in the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University from May 2019 to May 2020 were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, with 45 cases each. The observation group was given preventive nursing for lower extremity DVT, and the control group was given routine nursing. The fibrinogen ( Fib ), activated partial thromboplastin time ( APTT ), prothrombin time ( PT), nursing satisfaction, length of hospital stay and incidence of lower extremity DVT of the two groups were compared before and after intervention, and the risk factors of lower extremity DVT after surgery for spinal compression fractures were analyzed by Logistic regression. Results Before intervention, the differences in Fib, APTT, and PT between the two groups were not statistically significant (all P >0.05). After intervention, compared with the control group, the level of File in the observation group was significantly decreased, while the APTT and PT were significantly increased (a P < 0. 05). The incidence of lower extremity DVT in the observation group was significantly reduced. The length of hospital stay was significantly shortened, and the nursing satisfaction was significantly improved (a P < 0. 05). There were statistically significant differences in age, diabetes mellitus, and smoking history between patients with and without lower extremity DVT (all P <0. 05). Logistic regression analysis showed that age >75 years, smoking history, and diabetes mellitus were risk factors for lower extremity DVT in middle-aged and elderly patients after spinal compression fracture surgery. Conclusion Preventive nursing measures can reduce the incidence of lower extremity DVT after surgery for spinal compression fractures in middle-aged and elderly patients and shorten the length of hospital stay. Background: Accumulating evidences have demonstrated that mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) could be recruited to the tumor microenvironment. Umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (UCMSC) were attractive vehicles for delivering therapeutic agents against cancer. Nevertheless, the safety of UCMSC in the treatment of tumors including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) was still undetermined.Methods: In this study, an in vitro co-culture system was established to evaluate the effect of UCMSC on the cell growth, cancer stem cell (CSC) characteristics, drug resistance, metastasis of 3D-cultured HCC cells, and the underlying mechanism was also investigated.Results: It was found that after co-cultured with UCMSC, the metastatic ability of 3D-cultured HCC cells was significantly enhanced as indicated by up-regulation of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP), epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT)-related genes, and migration ability. However, cell growth, drug resistance and CSC-related gene expression of HCC cells were not affected by UCMSC. Moreover, EMT was reversed, MMP-2 expression was down-regulated, and migration ability of HCC cell was significantly inhibited when TGF-β receptor inhibitor SB431542 was added into the co-culture system.Conclusions: Therefore, these data indicated that UCMSC could significantly enhance the tumor cell metastasis, which was due to the EMT of HCC cells induced by TGF-β.
