Abstract Background The Achilles tendon is the strongest tendon in the human body, although it is also prone to injury and rupture. Currently, the best treatment method for acute Achilles tendon rupture remains controversial. The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of the Ma-Griffith method combined with a minimally invasive small incision (M-G/MISI) with the modified suture technique (MST). Methods We conducted a retrospective review of the medical records of all patients who underwent treatment for acute Achilles tendon rupture between January 2012 and January 2020 at our hospital. Demographic characteristics, operative details, and postoperative complications were recorded, and data were statistically analyzed to compare the treatment efficacy of the two operative methods. Results A total of 67 patients were enrolled in the study, 34 of whom underwent M-G/MISI treatment, and 33 of whom underwent MST treatment. The intraoperative blood loss in the M-G/MISI group (16.47 ± 13.23 ml) was significantly lower than that in the MST group (34.55 ± 13.01 ml), and the difference was statistically significant (P ˂0.001). The incision in the M-G/MISI group (3.79 ± 1.81 cm) was significantly shorter than that in the MST group (5.79 ± 1.00 cm), and the difference was statistically significant (P˂0.001). The Achilles tendon rupture score and the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) score were higher than those of the MST group at the sixth month after the operation (P˂0.001). Postoperatively, there was 1 case of traumatic Achilles tendon rupture in the M-G/MISI group and 1 case each of infection and deep vein thrombosis in the modified suture group. Conclusions Compared with the MST group, the M-G/MISI group had better Achilles tendon and ankle function scores at 6 months postoperatively, and less bleeding and shorter incisions. M-G/MISI is less invasive than MST.

Objective To compare the efficacy of triangular anchor reduction forceps and towel forceps in the treatment of long oblique or spiral distal tibial fractures. Methods The data of 58 patients admitted to the Department of Traumatic Orthopaedics in Second Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from June 2019 to March 2021 were analyzed prospectively. According to the reduction methods during operation, they were divided into point reduction forceps group (n = 26) and triangle anchor reduction forceps group (n = 32) . The operation time, intraoperative fluoroscopy times, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative fracture reduction quality, hospital stay, fracture healing time, American orthopedic foot and ankle society (AOFAS) score, curative effect and complications at the last follow-up were compared between the two groups. Results All patients participated in the follow-up for more than one year. There was no significant difference in age, sex, basic diseases and injury mechanism between the two groups. The operation time and fluoroscopy times of patients in triangle anchor reduction group were significantly lower than those in point reduction forceps group (P < 0.05), while the quality of fracture reduction was higher than that in point reduction forceps group (P < 0.05), and there was no significant difference in other perioperative indexes. The fracture healing time of patients in triangle anchor reduction group was shorter, and the ankle joint function was better than that in point reduction forceps group (P < 0.05) . There was no significant difference in the incidence of various complications between the two groups, but the overall incidence of complications in the triangle anchor reduction group was significantly lower (P < 0.05) . Conclusion Triangular anchor reduction forceps can improve the quality of fracture reduction, shorten the healing time of fracture, reduce the occurrence of complications, reduce the operation time and the number of fluoroscopy during operation, and there is no obvious increase in local infection. This paper uses a noisy rational expectations model to derive predictions about the dynamic behaviour of the proportion of institutional money managers in a given country who are bullish about the equity market in different countries. The predictions are tested using monthly data for four countries for the period October 1995 to October 2000. The empirical findings are consistent with the hypothesis of informational asymmetries between capital market participants in diffent countries.

The stochastic multi-group susceptible–infected–recovered (SIR) epidemic model is nonlinear, and so analytical solutions are generally difficult to obtain. Hence, it is often necessary to find numerical solutions, but most existing numerical methods fail to preserve the nonnegativity or positivity of solutions. Therefore, an appropriate numerical method for studying the dynamic behavior of epidemic diseases through SIR models is urgently required. In this paper, based on the Euler–Maruyama scheme and a logarithmic transformation, we propose a novel explicit positivity-preserving numerical scheme for a stochastic multi-group SIR epidemic model whose coefficients violate the global monotonicity condition. This scheme not only results in numerical solutions that preserve the domain of the stochastic multi-group SIR epidemic model, but also achieves the " order - 1 2 " strong convergence rate. Dengue is one of the most prevalent vector-borne viral diseases, which is transmitted through the bite of Aedes mosquitoes (Aedes albopictus). In this study, using the global exponential attraction theory, the dynamic behavior of the dengue model in a spatially heterogeneous environment was studied. The existence and uniqueness of positive global solutions were proven using the semigroup theory. The basic reproduction number was defined using the spectral radius of the next-generation operator. Furthermore, a global exponential attractor set was given, and the results of globally asymptotically stable and disease uniform persistence were obtained for the dengue model. A numerical simulation showed the dynamic behavior and revealed that increasing the diffusion coefficient and spatial heterogeneity rate is beneficial for disease control. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
