Metals such as Cu and Cr have good infrared reflection properties, but there are few reports on their effects on the optical properties of solar spectrum absorption layers. Herein, Cu and Cr infrared reflectors were deposited under AlCrNO absorbing layer by multi arc ion plating technology, and the effects of deposition parameters of infrared reflectors on coating properties were studied. The morphology, element composition and phase structure of the coating were analyzed by scanning electron microscope, energy dispersive spectrometer and X - ray diffraction. Results showed that compared with the coating without infrared reflection layer, the coating with Cu infrared reflection layer had the best performance, the absorptivity was increased by 1.7%, and the emissivity was reduced by 31.9%. Besides, the absorptivity and emissivity of coating with Cr infrared reflector were increased by 0.6% and 13%, respectively. Therefore, Cu was better than Cr as infrared reflector.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate whether flow fluid shear stress (FFSS)‐mediated signal transduction affects the function of Piezo1 ion channel in chondrocyte and to further explore the role of mechanical overloading in development of temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis (TMJ OA). Methods: Immunohistochemical staining was used to determine the expression of Piezo1 in TMJ OA tissue collected from rat unilateral anterior crossbite (UAC) models. Chondrocytes harvested from normal adult SD rats were treated with FFSS (0, 4, 8, 12 dyn/cm2) in vitro. Immunofluorescent staining, real‐time polymerase chain reaction, western blotting, flow cytometry and phalloidin assay were performed to detect the changes of cellular morphology as well as the expression of Piezo1 and certain pro‐inflammatory and degradative factors in chondrocyte. Results: Immunohistochemical analysis revealed that significantly increased Piezo1 expression was associated with UAC stimulation (p <.05). As applied FFSS escalated (4, 8 and 12 dyn/cm2), the expression levels of Piezo1, ADAMTS‐5, MMP‐13 and Col‐X gradually increased, compared with the non‐FFSS group (p <.05). Administering Piezo1 ion channel inhibitor to chondrocytes beforehand, it was observed that expression of ADAMTS‐5, MMP‐13 and Col‐X was substantially decreased following FFSS treatment (p <.05) and the effect of cytoskeletal thinning was counteracted. The activated Piezo1 ion channel enhanced intracellular Ca2+ excess in chondrocytes during abnormal mechanical stimulation and the increased intracellular Ca2+ thinned the cytoskeleton of F‐actin. Conclusions: Mechanical overloading activates Piezo1 ion channel to promote pro‐inflammation and degradation and to increase Ca2+ concentration in chondrocyte, which may eventually result in TMJ OA. The temperature profile is an important process parameter for the autoclave curing of composite, which has an important influence on the curing time and the quality of the cured composite part. The curing period and curing quality of autoclave processed composite can be simultaneously controlled by the optimal design of the temperature profile. The numerical simulation of the curing process of a C-shaped composite part was carried out. The prediction results are in good agreement with the experimental test results, which verify the capability of the simulation method. Then, the temperature profile was optimized by using the design of experiment (DOE) method and particle swarm algorithm to achieve the simultaneous control of curing period and curing quality. Experiments were also carried out to verify the optimization results. The results show that the optimal design of temperature profile can effectively reduce the curing period and satisfy the constraints of curing uniformity, curing degree and curing deformation. The curing periods of the optimization cases are reduced by 64% and 45%, respectively.

Abstract Background To evaluate the efficacy and outcomes of hypofractionated stereotactic radiotherapy (HSRT) for brain metastases > 3 cm. Methods From March 2003 to October 2009, 40 patients with brain metastases larger than 3 cm were treated by HSRT. HSRT was applied in 29 patients for primary treatment and in 11 patients for rescue. Single brain metastasis was detected in 21 patients. Whole brain radiotherapy was incorporated into HSRT in 10 patients for primary treatment. HSRT boosts were applied in 23 patients. The diameters of the brain metastases ranged from 3.1 to 5.5 cm (median, 4.1 cm). The median prescribed dose (not including HSRT boosts) was 40 Gy (range, 20-53 Gy) with a median of 10 fractions (range, 4-15 fractions) to the 90% isodose line. The median dose of the boost was 20 Gy (range, 10-35 Gy) in 4 fractions (range, 2-10 fractions). Result The median overall survival time was 15 months. The overall survival and local control rate at 12 months was 55.3% and 94.2%, respectively. Four patients experienced local progression of large brain metastases. Nine patients died of intracranial disease progression. One patient died of radiation necrosis with brain edema. Conclusion HSRT was a safe and effective treatment for patients with brain metastases ranged from 3.1 to 5.5 cm. Dose escalation of HSRT boost may improve local control with an acceptable toxicity.

Abstract Objective To explore the risk factors of distant brain failure (DBF) for patients with brain metastasis (BM) who were treated with stereotactic radiotherapy alone and to group the patients on the basis of their risk levels. Methods and Materials We retrospectively analyzed 132 newly diagnosed BM patients who were treated with stereotactic radiotherapy alone from May 2000 to April 2010. Kaplan-Meier and Cox proportional hazards regression analyses were performed for univariate and multivariate analyses. Results The 1-year incidence rate of DBF was 44.7%, and the median DBF time (MDBFT) was 18 months. In multivariate analysis, the risk factors of DBF were the number of BMs greater than 1 (p = 0.041), uncontrolled extracranial disease (p = 0.005), interval time (IT) of less than 60 months between the diagnosis of primary tumor and BM (p = 0.024), and total volume of BM was greater than 6 cc (p = 0.049). Each risk factor was assigned 1 score. The median survival times for the patients with scores of 0-1, 2-3, and 4 were 31, 12, and 10 months, respectively, and the corresponding MDBFTs were not reached, 13, and 3 months, respectively, (p < 0.001). The crude DBF incidence rates in patients with scores of 0-1, 2-3, and 4 were 14.8%, 50.0%, and 76.9%, respectively, (p < 0.001). Conclusions The patients with scores of 0-1 had a lower risk of DBF than the patients with higher scores did, and it may be reasonable to treat these patients with SRS alone and resort to whole-brain radiation therapy only for salvage. The patients with a score of 4 had the highest risk of developing DBF after stereotactic radiotherapy alone, these patients may be candidates for initial whole-brain radiation therapy or clinical trials. The patients with a score of 2-3 had a moderate risk of developing DBF, SRT alone combined with close clinical monitoring would be the optimal treatment regimen for such patients, and for those patients with difficulties in receiving close clinical mornitoring, SRT combined with WBRT will be more suitable.

ABSTRACT In this work, the mechanical and failure behavior of injection molded aviation standard optical grade polycarbonate (PC) was investigated through uniaxial tensile testing. The effect of different injection molding process parameters including injection velocity, packing pressure, cooling time, mold temperature, and melt temperature were determined to observe their effect on yield and postyield behavior of PC. Out of these examined parameters, the mold and melt temperature show significant effect on mechanical behavior of studied polymer. The yield and flow stresses in polymer increase with the increase in mold and melt temperature during injection molding. However, other process parameters i.e., packing pressure, injection velocity, and cooling time showed little effect on mechanical performance of the polymer. The molded specimens were annealed at different temperatures and residence time to evaluate its effect on mechanical behavior and fracture morphology. The yield stress increases gradually with the increase in annealing temperature and time. The annealing treatment also changed the failure mode of PC specimens from ductile to brittle. In addition to process parameters, the effect of increased loading rate was also undertaken which shows substantial effect on mechanical and failure behavior of PC. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J.
