The manipulation of vector optical fields in three-dimensional (3D) space plays a vital role in both fundamental research and practical implementations of polarization optics. However, existing studies mostly focus on 3D vector optical fields with limited modes. Here, an approach of spin-decoupled spatial partitioning is proposed to generate complex 3D vector optical fields with a customizable number of modes on demand. The crosstalk among different modes is effectively suppressed by the decoupling capability of asymmetric photonic spin–orbit interactions (PSOIs) and the design of region displacement for opposite spin states. As a proof-of-concept demonstration, a metasurface is designed to generate longitudinally varying high-order cylindrical vector fields, ranging from the 2nd to the 10th order in even sequences along the propagation direction. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and potential of our approach to enabling precise control of 3D vector optical fields with arbitrary mode combinations. This work holds promising applications in biophotonics, quantum optics, and communications.

Non-line-of-sight (NLOS) imaging aims at recovering hidden objects located beyond the traditional line of sight, with potential applications in areas such as security monitoring, search and rescue, and autonomous driving. Conventionally, NLOS imaging requires raster scanning of laser pulses and collecting the reflected photons from a relay wall. High-time-resolution detectors obtain the flight time of photons undergoing multiple scattering for image reconstruction. Expanding the scanning area while maintaining the sampling rate is an effective method to enhance the resolution of NLOS imaging, where an angle magnification system is commonly adopted. Compared to traditional optical components, planar optical elements such as liquid crystal, offer the advantages of high efficiency, lightweight, low cost, and ease of processing. By introducing liquid crystal with angle magnification capabilities into the NLOS imaging system, we successfully designed a large field-of-view high-resolution system for a wide scanning area and high-quality image reconstruction. Furthermore, in order to reduce the long data acquisition time, a sparse scanning method capitalizing on the correlation between measurement data to reduce the number of sampling points is thus proposed. Both the simulation and experiment results demonstrate a >20 % reduction in data acquisition time while maintaining the exact resolution.

In the context of the “dual carbon” goal, a high proportion of renewable energy connected to the grid to replace traditional high-carbon units has become a general trend. Taking the high proportion of renewable energy power system as the research object, the medium and long term planning of the installed capacity of source, grid, load and storage of power system is carried out considering the two dimensions of investment and operation maintenance, and the optimization model of source, grid, load and storage of power system is established. A low-carbon dispatching model considering carbon emission and demand response of distribution network is also proposed. Firstly, considering the characteristics of distribution network receiving power from the main network, the carbon emission model of distribution network based on carbon emission flow theory is constructed, and the low-carbon index of distribution network is proposed. Secondly, the improved dynamic carbon emission factor of distribution network is proposed, which is used as a guide signal to provide reference for low-carbon electricity consumption of distribution network users. According to the characteristics of users in the distribution network, the industrial demand response model aiming at low dispatch cost and low carbon and the residential demand response model aiming at electricity consumption satisfaction and low carbon satisfaction are constructed respectively.

Longitudinal optical field modulation is of critical importance in a wide range of applications, including optical imaging, spectroscopy, and optical manipulation. However, it remains a considerable challenge to realize a uniformly distributed light field with extended depth-of-focus. Here, a high-efficiency extended depth-of-focus metalens is proposed by adjoint-based topology-shape optimization approach, wherein the theoretical electric field intensity corresponding to a variable focal-length phase is utilized as the figure of merit. Using a dozen of metalens with random structure parameters as initial structures, the average focal depth of topology-shape optimized metalens is greatly improved up to 18.80 μm (about 29.7λ), which is 1.54 times higher than the diffraction-limited focal depth. Moreover, all the topology-shape optimized metalens exhibit high diffraction efficiency exceeding 0.7 over the whole focal depth range, which is approximately three times greater than that of the forward design. Our results offer a new insight into the design of extended depth-of-focus metalens and may find potential applications in imaging, holography, and optical fabrication.

During the past few years, metasurface polarization optics has experienced remarkable advances, resulting in revolutionary applications in imaging, sensing, computing, etc. The realization of complex optical operations requires the consideration of both the individual meta‐atoms as well as their intricate couplings. However, conventional design methods face challenges as design degrees of freedom and functionality complexity. Additionally, previous studies are restricted to the local design of single meta‐atoms based on explicit mapping relationships while ignoring interactions, resulting in an inability to meet the on‐demand requirements of complex light‐field operations. Here, a global design strategy based on field‐driven polygon evolution to achieve the inverse design of large‐scale coupled meta‐atoms is proposed. Through two global simulations, it can effectively reshape any given target optical field into an optimal structural distribution of devices without knowing mapping relationship. Near‐perfect spin‐decoupled beam‐splitting and high‐performance focusing, as well as the generation of arbitrary vector optical fields on the Poincaré sphere with a maximal diffraction efficiency closely approaching 100%, are experimentally demonstrated. This strategy opens up a new avenue for a rapid inverse design of large‐scale, high‐performance multifunctional meta‐devices, which can hold significant implications for both classical and quantum information processing domains. Disordered rock salt compounds (DRX) are increasingly investigated as an alternative to established layered oxides, due to the significant compositional flexibility allowing the use of cheap elements, as well as the demonstrated high specific discharge capacities. In this work we investigate DRXs based on Ni as the main redox active element and Ti as a charge compensator and structure stabilizer, according to composition Li2yTiyNi2−3yO2 (0.50 ≤ y ≤ 0.67). We prepare such materials by solid state synthesis and carefully investigate their stability as single phases by combining theoretical calculations based on density functional theory and in situ X-ray diffraction, elucidating the role of entropy in the synthesis process. By a combination of SEM, ICP-AES and X-ray and neutron diffraction we reveal that the above-mentioned formula indicating a solid solution is only appropriate at high temperatures. When increasing the Li content and lowering the temperature, a secondary Li2TiO3-like phase emerges. The electrochemical performances showed a low capacity in the first cycle, which appears to be kinetically limited as it strongly increases at 50 °C. A strong voltage hysteresis is nonetheless present regardless of the temperature and is the main bottleneck limiting energy efficiently in these compounds. By combined operando X-ray diffraction and X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) spectroscopy, we demonstrate such hysteresis can be observed both structurally in the unit cell parameters as well as electronically at the Ni K-edge, hence in the Ni oxidation state. Our study confirms the peculiar, coupled behaviour of Ni and O redox in this class of materials, which needs to be overcome if new improved compositions are to be designed. We therefore provide a clear structural analysis of the synthesis and electrochemical behaviour of the Li2yTiyNi2−3yO2 family of compounds, identifying the main bottlenecks towards their improvement. This paper investigates the tensile behaviors and self-healing of engineered cementitious composite (ECC) under sulfate wet–dry cycles to reflect the durability. Four pretensile strain levels of 0%, 1%, 1.5%, and 2% were designed. The uniaxial tensile test, three-point bending test, and single-crack tensile test were performed, along with the microscopic characterizations of scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results indicated that the sulfate wet–dry cycle exposure had a positive effect on the tensile strength and initial cracking strength of the uncracked ECC, while that was negative on the tensile strain capacity. The insufficient margin of the σoc/σcr and Jb′/Jtip indices explained the lower tensile strain. The tensile strength and initial cracking strength of the cracked ECC with 1% pretensile strain surpassed those of the uncracked ECC after undergoing 80 sulfate wet–dry cycles (80 C), while that did not hold for the other cracked ECCs. All the cracked ECCs showed a similar tensile strain after undergoing 80 C. The crack with a width of less than 100 μm achieved complete self-healing. The self-healing products of ECC under sulfate wet–dry cycle exposure may comprise of calcium (alumino) silicate hydrate [C-(A)-S-H] gel, calcite, ettringite, and gypsum. Utilization of Portland cement to initiate the dissolution of blast furnace slag (BFS) in super-sulfated cement is limited by low slag substitution level and poor early strength. In this study, a new activator composed of anhydrite and calcium sulfoaluminate cement clinker was proposed to enhance the utilization of BFS in super-sulfated cement. Tests were conducted on the compressive strength, autogenous shrinkage, hydration heat, pH and conductivity of the composites. XRD, 29Si NMR, BSE and MIP were employed. Results reveal that ettringite, gypsum and C-S-H are the primary hydration products. The composites with 20% activator display the highest compressive strength and shrinkage accompanied by the highest hydration heat and degree, as well as the highest quantity of monomer silica tetrahedrons and the largest volume of fine pores. Thermodynamic modeling confirms the critical value for the activator-substitution level. Additionally, the activator-BFS composite exhibited significantly lower carbon emissions compared to Portland cement. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
