Abstract Chiral assemblies have become one of the most active research areas due to their versatility, playing an increasingly important role in bio-detection, imaging and therapy. In this work, chiral UCNPs/CuxOS@ZIF nanoprobes are prepared by encapsulating upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) and CuxOS nanoparticles (NPs) into zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8). The novel excited-state energy distribution-modulated upconversion nanostructure (NaYbF4@NaYF4: Yb, Er) is selected as the fluorescence source and energy donor for highly efficient fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET). CuxOS NP is employed as chiral source and energy acceptor to quench upconversion luminescence (UCL) and provide circular dichroism (CD) signal. Utilizing the natural adsorption and sorting advantages of ZIF-8, the designed nanoprobe can isolate the influence of other common disruptors, thus achieve ultra-sensitive and highly selective UCL/CD dual-mode quantification of H2S in aqueous solution and in living cells. Notably, the nanoprobe is also capable of in vivo intra-tumoral H2S tracking. Our work highlights the multifunctional properties of chiral nanocomposites in sensing and opens a new vision and idea for the preparation and application of chiral nanomaterials in biomedical and biological analysis.

With the development of urbanization, there is an increasing demand for higher land utilization rates, leading to the emergence of high-rise residential and commercial complexes. Additionally, in coastal areas, the presence of soft soil and low bearing capacity of the foundation necessitate higher foundation bearing capacity. Large-diameter, super-long piles have been widely employed in engineering projects to address these challenges effectively. This study analyzes their vertical bearing characteristics through field load tests and determines vertical load distribution and transfer mechanisms by using Brillouin Optical Time Domain Reflectometry. A numerical computation and analysis method based on PLAXIS 3D was established, examining the effects of parameters such as pile diameter, length, and soil modulus on the vertical bearing characteristics. Results indicate that large-diameter, super-long piles mainly bear loads through side friction, with the tip bearing less load. As load levels increase, axial force increases linearly above 40 m depth and becomes nonlinear below. Frictional resistance is significant below 40 m at 3,700 kN load. Parameter analysis shows that increasing pile length and diameter enhances bearing capacity, suggesting this method to improve pile foundation capacity in engineering.

Abstract Efficiently fabricating a cavity that can achieve strong interactions between terahertz waves and matter would allow researchers to exploit the intrinsic properties due to the long wavelength in the terahertz waveband. Here we show a terahertz detector embedded in a Tamm cavity with a record Q value of 1017 and a bandwidth of only 469 MHz for direct detection. The Tamm-cavity detector is formed by embedding a substrate with an Nb5N6 microbolometer detector between an Si/air distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) and a metal reflector. The resonant frequency can be controlled by adjusting the thickness of the substrate layer. The detector and DBR are fabricated separately, and a large pixel-array detector can be realized by a very simple assembly process. This versatile cavity structure can be used as a platform for preparing high-performance terahertz devices and opening up the study of the strong interactions between terahertz waves and matter.

Abstract Background To aim of this study is to assess the mechanism through which Desertliving Cistanche modulates the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway in the treatment of hyperlipidemic osteoporosis in ovariectomized rats. Methods We randomly assigned specific-pathogen-free (SPF) rats into five groups (n = 10 per group). The normal control group received a standard diet, while the model group, atorvastatin group, diethylstilbestrol group, and treatment group were fed a high-fat diet. Four weeks later, bilateral ovariectomies were conducted, followed by drug interventions. After six weeks of treatment, relevant indicators were compared and analyzed. Results Compared to the normal control group, rats in the model group exhibited blurred trabecular morphology, disorganized osteocytes, significantly elevated levels of bone-specific alkaline phosphatase (BALP), bone Gla-protein (BGP), total cholesterol (TC), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and receptor activator of NF-κB ligand (RANKL). Also, the model group revealed significantly reduced levels of ultimate load, fracture load, estradiol (E2), bone mineral density (BMD), osteoprotegerin (OPG), and phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) and protein kinase B (Akt) in femoral tissue. The atorvastatin group presented with higher TC and TNF-α levels compared to the normal control group. Conversely, the treatment group demonstrated enhanced trabecular morphology, denser structure, smaller bone marrow cavities, and reduced BALP, BGP, TC, TNF-α, and RANKL levels. Furthermore, the treatment group exhibited higher levels of E2, BMD, OPG, and PI3K and Akt in bone tissue compared to the model group. The treatment group also had lower TC and TNF-α levels than the atorvastatin group. Biomechanical analysis indicated that after administration of Desertliving Cistanche, the treatment group had reduced body mass, increased ultimate and fracture load of the femur, denser bone structure, smaller bone marrow cavities, and altered periosteal arrangement compared to the model group. Conclusion Our study revealed that Desertliving Cistanche demonstrated significant efficacy in preventing and treating postmenopausal hyperlipidemic osteoporosis in rats.

Abstract Background As components of a 24-hour day, sedentary behavior (SB), physical activity (PA), and sleep are all independently linked to cardiovascular health (CVH). However, insufficient understanding of components’ mutual exclusion limits the exploration of the associations between all movement behaviors and health outcomes. The aim of this study was to employ compositional data analysis (CoDA) approach to investigate the associations between 24-hour movement behaviors and overall CVH. Methods Data from 581 participants, including 230 women, were collected from the 2005–2006 wave of the US National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). This dataset included information on the duration of SB and PA, derived from ActiGraph accelerometers, as well as self-reported sleep duration. The assessment of CVH was conducted in accordance with the criteria outlined in Life’s Simple 7, encompassing the evaluation of both health behaviors and health factors. Compositional linear regression was utilized to examine the cross-sectional associations of 24-hour movement behaviors and each component with CVH score. Furthermore, the study predicted the potential differences in CVH score that would occur by reallocating 10 to 60 min among different movement behaviors. Results A significant association was observed between 24-hour movement behaviors and overall CVH (p 0.05). Conclusions MVPA seems to be as a pivotal determinant for enhancing CVH among general adult population, relative to other movement behaviors. Consequently, optimization of MVPA duration is an essential element in promoting overall health and well-being.

As a key sensor of double-stranded DNA (dsDNA), cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS) detects cytosolic dsDNA and initiates the synthesis of 2′3′ cyclic GMP-AMP (cGAMP) that activates the stimulator of interferon genes (STING). This finally promotes the production of type I interferons (IFN-I) that is crucial for bridging innate and adaptive immunity. Recent evidence show that several antitumor therapies, including radiotherapy (RT), chemotherapy, targeted therapies and immunotherapies, activate the cGAS-STING pathway to provoke the antitumor immunity. In the last decade, the development of STING agonists has been a major focus in both basic research and the pharmaceutical industry. However, up to now, none of STING agonists have been approved for clinical use. Considering the broad expression of STING in whole body and the direct lethal effect of STING agonists on immune cells in the draining lymph node (dLN), research on the optimal way to activate STING in tumor microenvironment (TME) appears to be a promising direction. Moreover, besides enhancing IFN-I signaling, the cGAS-STING pathway also plays roles in senescence, autophagy, apoptosis, mitotic arrest, and DNA repair, contributing to tumor development and metastasis. In this review, we summarize the recent advances on cGAS-STING pathway’s response to antitumor therapies and the strategies involving this pathway for tumor treatment.

Abstract Objectives To investigate the diagnostic performance of the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) for low to intermediate-risk prostate cancer (PCa), as well as its correlation with the prognostic Gleason score (GS). Materials and methods Retrospective analysis of MRI images and relevant clinical data from patients with prostate disease. The differences in ADC between different GS groups were compared, and the efficacy of ADC in PCa diagnosis were analyzed. Furthermore, the diagnostic performance of the mean ADC (ADCmean) and minimum ADC (ADCmin) values was compared. Results There were 1414 patients with 1631 lesions. In terms of GS, both ADCmin and ADCmean values of the GS 4 + 3 group were significantly lower than those of the GS 3 + 4 group, GS 3 + 3 group, and the benign group, with all differences being statistically significant (p

Abstract Diguo (Ficus tikoua Bur.), an ancient wild fruit, is widely spread in southwest China. However, there is little information on the phenotypic traits, quality characteristics, and aroma compounds available to diguo fruit. The present study is an investigation into the effects of geographical origin on the phenotypic traits and quality characteristics of wild diguo fruit collected from southwest China. The volatile compounds in the mixed fruit samples were also investigated using gas chromatography–mass spectrometry. Our results indicated that significant variation existed among the sampling materials in all the phenotypic parameters. Fruit fresh weight ranged between 2.06 and 4.59 g. Moreover, significant variation existed among the selected materials in all macronutrients (dry matter, total soluble solids, crude protein, crude fat, and ash) and some nutritional parameters (glutamate, arginine, total soluble solids, maltose, and mannose, etc.). Regardless of their geographical origin, diguo fruit is relatively low in fat and fructose and high in fiber and glutamate. A total of 95 volatile constituents were identified in the frozen diguo fruit. In conclusion, diguo fruit with rich nutritional attributes has a promising future for commercial‐scale production. The variability of the observed morphological and nutritional features of diguo fruit provides important characteristics for improving the breeding of diguo as a modern fruit crop.

Objective To analyze the clinical characteristics of anti - neuronal antibody positive paraneoplastic neurological syndrome related to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI - PNS). Methods and Results A total of 5 patients with anti - neuronal antibody positive ICI - PNS in Peking Union Medical College Hospital from January 2012 to March 2024 were included. Tumor types included small cell lung cancer (2 cases), malignant melanoma (one case), Hodgkin lymphoma (one case) and cervical cancer (one case). Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) included programmed death 1 (PD - 1) inhibitors (3 cases), programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) inhibitors (one case) and bispecific PD-1/cytotoxic T lymphocyte- associated antigen 4 (CTLA -4) inhibitors (one case). All 5 patients presented with high -risk neurologic phenotypes of paraneoplastic neurological syndrome (PNS), of which 4 presented with limbic encephalitis and one presented with rapidly progressive cerebellar syndrome. Anti - neuronal antibodies detected in serum and/or cerebrospinal fluid of patients included anti - Hu, γ - aminobutyric acid receptor type B (GABABR), sex-determining region of Y chromosome-related high mobility group box 1 (SOX1), metabotropic glutamate receptor 5 (mGluR5) and Yo antibodies. Neurological syndromes occurred within 2 weeks after receiving ICIs in 4 patients. The modified Rankin Score (mRS) of 4 patients was 3 at peak of illness, and one patient was 5 at peak of illness. The Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE) was grade 3 in all 5 patients. After withdrawal of ICIs and treatment with glucocorticoids and intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg), the neurological symptoms of the patients were improved. Conclusions High/ intermediate - risk anti - neuronal antibodies are diagnostic markers of ICI - PNS. Evaluation of ICI - PNS clinical phenotypes and CTCAE grading are important for immunotherapy. Discontinuation of ICIs, administration of glucocorticoids and IVIg can improve the prognosis of patients.

Objective To report 3 cases of Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) caused by heat stroke (HS) and review the relevant literatures, and summarize the clinical characteristics of GBS caused by HS. Methods and Results The three patients were all diagnosed and treated by The Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University in August 2022. The clinical manifestations were mainly weakness of limbs and dysarticulation after recovery of consciousness disorder of HS, disappearance of tendon reflex as shown by physical examination, extensive peripheral nerve damage mainly caused by axonal damage and motor nerve involvement as shown by EMG. Cerebrospinal fluid protein cell segregation phenomenon was present in Case 1 and Case 2, and the clinical diagnosis was GBS caused by HS. The muscle strength was better than before after immunotherapy, but obvious neurological dysfunction was still found after one year follow-up. Conclusions GBS caused by HS is a severe condition, often appearing within 3 weeks after HS. Immunotherapy leads to varying degrees of improvement in muscle strength; however, significant neurological dysfunction still persist, resulting in a poorer prognosis compared to general GBS.

Ideal medical implant materials should have the qualities of osteoinduction, osteoconduction, nontoxicity, non-sensitivity and non-carcinogenicity to the body. Although its high melting point and high elastic modulus pose difficulties for processing technology, tantalum has become a popular research topic in the field of medical implant materials because of its excellent biocompatibility and bone inductivity. In this paper, the performance of the bone-inducing properties of tantalum in different applications, including its combination with other elements, its use as a coating, its porous structure and its surface modification ability, are summarized. The mechanism of promoting bone formation and the clinical application of tantalum are reviewed.

Abstract Background Highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) has been able to improve the immune system function and survival of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) patients. However, Patients coinfected with HIV and hepatitis B virus (HBV) are more likely to develop end-stage liver disease (ESLD) than those infected with HBV alone. Consequently, liver transplantation is often required for these patients. This study evaluates the outcomes of orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) of HIV-HBV coinfected patients in China. Methods We conducted a retrospective analysis on all HIV-HBV coinfected patients that underwent OLT from April 1, 2019 to December 31, 2021 and their outcomes were compared to all HBV monoinfected patients undergoing OLT during the same period. Patient outcomes were determined, including cumulative survival, viral load, CD4 T-cell count and postoperative complications. Results The median follow-up of HIV recipients was 36 months after OLT (interquartile range 12–39 months). Almost all patients had stable CD4 T-cell count (> 200 copies/ul), undetectable HBV DNA levels, and undetectable HIV RNA load during follow-up. The 1-, 2-, and 3-year posttransplant survival rates were 85.7% for the HIV group (unchanged from 1 to 3 years) versus 82.2%, 81.2%, and 78.8% for the non-HIV group. Cumulative survival among HIV-HBV coinfected recipients was not significantly different from the HBV monoinfected recipients (log-rank test P = 0.692). The percentage of deaths attributed to infection was comparable between the HIV and non-HIV groups (14.3% vs. 9.32%, P = 0.665). Post OLT, there was no significant difference in acute rejection, cytomegalovirus infection, bacteremia, pulmonary infection, acute kidney injury, de novo tumor and vascular and biliary complications. Conclusions Liver transplantation in patients with HIV-HBV coinfection yields excellent outcomes in terms of intermediate- or long-term survival rate and low incidence of postoperative complications in China. These findings suggest that OLT is safe and feasible for HIV-HBV coinfected patients with ESLD. Trial registration Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (ChiCTR2300067631), registered 11 January 2023.

Microring resonators have been widely used in passive optical devices such as wavelength division multiplexers, differentiators, and integrators. Research on terahertz (THz) components has been accelerated by these photonics technologies. Compact and integrated time-domain differentiators that enable low-loss, high-speed THz signal processing are necessary for THz applications. In this study, an on-chip THz temporal differentiator based on all-silicon photonic technology was developed. This device primarily consisted of a microring waveguide resonator and was packaged with standard waveguide compatibility. It performed time-domain differentiation on input signals at a frequency of 405.45 GHz with an insertion loss of 2.5 dB and a working bandwidth of 0.36 GHz. Various periodic waveforms could be handled by this differentiator. This device could work as an edge detector, which detected step-like edges in high-speed input signals through differential effects. This development holds significant promise for future THz data processing technologies and THz communication systems.

This paper summarized the hospice care practice of a patient with terminal phase of breast cancer, and discussed the care of pain control, nausea and vomiting, palliation and sedation for terminal cancer patients with cancer-related pain. This paper focused on psychological support and spiritual comfort for terminal cancer patients, so as to provide reference for future studies on hospice care in clinical practice. Abstract Objective Intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) is a major cause of morbidity and disability. Our study aimed to investigate the potential of cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) and ADAMTS7 (A disintegrin and metalloproteinases with thrombospondin motifs 7) as biomarkers for IVDD together with their functional relationship. Methods IVD tissues and peripheral blood samples were collected from IVDD rabbit models over 1–4 weeks. Tissues and blood samples were also collected from clinical patients those were stratified into four equal groups according to Pfirrmann IVDD grading (I–V) with baseline data collected for each participant. COMP and ADAMTS7 expression were analyzed and biomarker characteristics were assessed using linear regression and receiver operating curve (ROC) analyses. Results COMP and ADAMTS7 expression increased in tissues and serum during IVDD progression. Serum COMP (sCOMP) and serum ADAMTS7 (sADAMTS7) levels increased in a time-dependent manner following IVD damage in the rabbit model while significant positive correlations were detected between sCOMP and sADAMTS7 and Pfirrmann grade in human subjects. ROC analysis showed that combining sCOMP and sADAMTS7 assay results produced an improved diagnostic measure for IVDD compared to individual sCOMP or sADAMTS7 tests. In vitro assays conducted on human cell isolates revealed that COMP prevented extracellular matrix degradation and antagonized ADAMTS7 expression although this protective role was uncoupled under microenvironmental conditions mimicking IVDD. Conclusions Increases in circulating COMP and ADAMTS7 correlate with IVDD progression and may play regulatory roles. Assays for sCOMP and/or sADAMTS7 levels can discriminate between healthy subjects and IVDD patients, warranting further clinical assessment.

Abstract Generally, when optimizing a rolling stock schedule, the locations of the depots, or places in the network where the composition changes and maintenance occurs, are assumed known. The locations where maintenance is performed naturally influence the quality of any resulting rolling stock schedules. In this paper, the problem of selecting new depot locations and their corresponding capacities is considered. A two-stage mixed integer programming approach for rolling stock scheduling with maintenance requirements is extended to account for depot selection. First, a conventional flow-based model is solved, ignoring maintenance requirements, to obtain a variety of rolling stock schedules with multiple depot locations and capacity options. Then, a maintenance feasible rolling stock schedule can be obtained by solving a series of assignment problems by using the schedules found in the first stage. The proposed methodology is tested on real-life instances, and the numerical experiments of different operational scenarios are discussed.

Abstract The incidence of post stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) is high in patients with mild stroke (MIS), and the risk factors and mechanism are uncertain. Increased cystatin C (CysC) levels after stroke may reflect lower glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and renal impairment. Previous studies have suggested endothelial dysfunction (ED) is closely related to renal impairment and cognitive impairment, respectively. We aimed to observe whether lower GFR estimated by CysC after MIS leaded to a high incidence of PSCI, and the role of ED in this process. 256 patients were enrolled in this prospective observational study. Renal function was assessed using GFR estimated by serum CysC. Endothelial function was evaluated by reactive hyperemia index (RHI) which calculated automatically by peripheral arterial tonometry (PAT). The cognitive function at baseline and 3 months was evaluated by MoCA score, and MoCA score ≤ 26 indicates the presence of PSCI. Spearman correlation analysis and linear regression were conducted to explore the factors affecting ED. Univariate and multivariate analysis was used to identify the independent risk factors of PSCI. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was applied to explore the optimal cutoff value of the independent risk factors levels for predicting PSCI. Abstract Background Noninvasive biomarkers for the assessment of response to chemotherapy in advanced breast cancer (BCa) are essential for optimized therapeutic decision-making. We evaluated the potential of soluble Periostin (POSTN) in circulation as a novel biomarker for chemotherapy efficacy monitoring. Methods Two hundred and thirty-one patients with different stages of BCa were included. Of those patients, 58 patients with inoperable metastatic disease receiving HER2-targeted or non-targeted chemotherapy were enrolled to assess the performances of markers in recapitulating the chemotherapy efficacy assessed by imaging. Abstract Background The selection of post-core material holds significant importance in endodontically treated teeth, influencing stress distribution in the dental structure after restoration. The use of computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) glass fiber post-core possesses a better adaptation for different root canal morphologies, but whether this results in a more favorable stress distribution has not been clearly established. Materials and methods This study employed finite element analysis to establish three models of post-core crown restoration with normal, oversized, and dumbbell-shaped root canals. The three models were restored using three different materials: CAD/CAM glass fiber post-core (CGF), prefabricated glass fiber post and resin core (PGF), and cobalt-chromium integrated metal post-core (Co-Cr), followed by zirconia crown restoration. A static load was applied and the maximum equivalent von Mises stress, maximum principal stress, stress distribution plots, and the peak of maximum displacement were calculated for dentin, post-core, crown, and the cement acting as the interface between the post-core and the dentin. Results In dentin of three different root canal morphology, it was observed that PGF exhibited the lowest von Mises stresses, while Co-Cr exhibited the highest ones under a static load. CGF showed similar stress distribution to that of Co-Cr, but the stresses were more homogeneous and concentrated apically. In oversized and dumbbell-shaped root canal remnants, the equivalent von Mises stress in the cement layer using CGF was significantly lower than that of PGF. Conclusions In oversized root canals and dumbbell-shaped root canals, CGF has shown good performance for restoration of endodontically treated teeth. Clinical relevance This study provides a theoretical basis for clinicians to select post-core materials for residual roots with different root canal morphologies and should help to reduce the occurrence of complications such as root fracture and post-core debonding.

Abstract Background This study aimed to evaluate stomatological students’ learning efficacy and their attitude towards Lecture-Team-Based Learning (LTBL) on topics regarding the design of removable partial dentures via in-class, online, and both in combination. Methods Students from seven distinct grades participated in the course in their fourth academic year (Years 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021). Students of Years 2015–2019 attended in-class LTBL, students of Year 2020 attended online LTBL, and students of Year 2021 attended the combination mode. The scores of three examinations were compared, namely, individual readiness assessment test, team readiness assurance test, and individual application test. Visual Analog Scales (VAS) were used for students to self-assess their mastery of prosthodontics knowledge before and after the course. Anonymous questionnaires were delivered to evaluate their satisfaction with LTBL via a Likert scale. Results In each academic year, the three exam scores were significantly improved as the course progressed and VAS-post scores were significantly higher than VAS-pre scores. The three examination and VAS scores of students in Year 2020 were significantly lower than those in Years 2019 and 2021. Students were highly satisfied with the LTBL course based on the three parameters of knowledge acquisition, teamwork, and classroom atmosphere. Conclusion Students were highly satisfied with the LTBL course and their learning performance was improved as the course progressed both in-class and online. Online LTBL could be adopted when students have to study online, while in-class LTBL could perform better when combined with video records of an online LTBL course.

Abstract The fast booming of wearable electronics provides great opportunities for intelligent gas detection with improved healthcare of mining workers, and a variety of gas sensors have been simultaneously developed. However, these sensing systems are always limited to single gas detection and are highly susceptible to the inference of ubiquitous moisture, resulting in less accuracy in the analysis of gas compositions in real mining conditions. To address these challenges, we propose a synergistic strategy based on sensor integration and machine learning algorithms to realize precise NH3 and NO2 gas detections under real mining conditions. A wearable sensing array based on the graphene and polyaniline composite is developed to largely enhance the sensitivity and selectivity under mixed gas conditions. Further introduction of backpropagation neural network (BP‐NN) and partial least squares (PLS) algorithms could improve the accuracy of gas identification and concentration prediction and settle the inference of moisture, realizing over 99% theoretical prediction level on NH3 and NO2 concentrations within a wide relative humidity range, showing great promise in real mining detection. As proof of concept, a wireless wearable bracelet, integrated with sensing arrays and machine‐learning algorithms, is developed for wireless real‐time warning of hazardous gases in mines under different humidity conditions.

α-Amylase, essential for carbohydrate digestion, relies on calcium (Ca) for its structural integrity and enzymatic activity. This study explored the inhibitory effect of salmon bone peptides on α-amylase activity through their interaction with the enzyme's Ca-binding sites. Among the various salmon bone hydrolysates, salmon bone trypsin hydrolysate (SBTH) exhibited the highest α-amylase inhibition. The peptide IEELEEELEAER (PIE), with a sequence of Ile-Glu-Glu-Leu-Glu-Glu-Glu-Glu-Leu-Glu-Ala-Glu-Arg from SBTH, was found to specifically target the Ca-binding sites in α-amylase, interacting with key residues such as Asp206, Trp203, His201, etc. Additionally, cellular experiments using 3 T3-L1 preadipocytes indicated PIE's capability to suppress adipocyte differentiation, and decreases in intracellular triglycerides, total cholesterol, and lipid accumulation. In vivo studies also showed a significant reduction in weight gain in the group treated with PIE(6.61%)compared with the control group (33.65%). These findings suggest PIE is an effective α-amylase inhibitor, showing promise for obesity treatment.

Abstract [Objective] The study of the functional trait variation and environmental drivers of woody oilseed plants in different origins is of great significance for the construction of core breeding populations and the selection of improved seeds. [Methods] In this study, the functional traits of leaves and seeds and the soil physicochemical properties were determined for the three of the largest existing natural forests of Acer truncatum in China, including Udantara, Pine Mountain, and Dai Chintara, which were distributed around the Horqin Sandy Land. The methods of ANOVA, correlation analysis, RDA ranking analysis, and PLSSEM model were used to study the variation of functional traits and the correlation between traits and the environment in different origins in Horqin, and explore the relationship between functional traits and environmental factors of A . truncatum . [Results] (1) The differences in each functional trait of the three A . truncatum were obvious, and the coefficient of variation of each trait was as follows: Specific leaf area (SLA) > oleic acid content (OA) > seed aspect ratio (ZC∶ZK) > carbon-nitrogen ratio (C∶N) > nerve acid content (NA) > seed oil content (OC) > linoleic acid content (LOA) > leaf carbon content (LCC). The inter-source coefficient of variation ranged from 3.81%-19.51% while the intra-source variation coefficient ranged from 3.60%-14.64%; the inter-source variation was greater than the intra-source variation. (2) Among the three source areas, the content of oil and linoleic acid was the highest in the Dai Chintara area, and the highest content of nerve acid in the Udantara area. (3) The correlation results showed that there was a significant correlation between the functional traits of A . truncatum and environmental factors. (4) The RDA analysis showed that environmental factors could explain 24.1% of the functional trait variation of A . truncatum . Soil organic matter (SOM) and temperature seasonal coefficient of variation (BIO-4) were the dominant ecological factors. Mmeteorology and soil jointly determined the variation of A . truncatum functional traits, in which meteorological factors played a leading role. (5) The PLS-SEM model showed that the path coefficient between the leaf and seed traits and the oil index of A . truncatum was small, where the synergy effect was not significant. The average annual temperature was the main influencing factor of the oil-related indexes of A . truncatum fat, and its correlation with oil showed a negative correlation, suggesting that the lower temperature was conducive to the accumulation of solid oil of A . truncatum seed. [Conclusion] This study found that meteorology is the dominant environmental factor driving the variation of functional traits of A . truncatum , and temperature is the key factor determining the solid oil content of A . truncatum seeds, which may provide a basis for the cultivation of A . truncatum for oil production.

The use of the thermostatic metal bath is becoming more and more extensive and the requirements for its precision and reliability are also increasing. To meet the needs of the metal bath calibration, a 12-channel thermostatic metal bath temperature field calibration system based on a four-wire PT100 has been designed. The system design includes a front-end temperature measurement component, which consists of a four-wire PT100 and a thermostatic block, and a signal processing component, which consists of a bidirectional constant current source excitation unit, a signal conditioning unit and a high-precision acquisition unit. The STM32f407 is used as the main control chip, and the analog channel selector is used for 12-channel selection. The constant current source is used for signal excitation, the proportional method is used to measure the PT100 resistance, and an acquisition circuit with a high-precision 32-bit ADS1263 analog-to-digital converter is used to amplify, filter and convert the analog signal. After piecewise linear fitting and system calibration, the temperature measurement accuracy can reach 0.4 mK, which meets the calibration requirements of the thermostatic metal bath.

BackgroundSchizophrenia is a common severe mental disorder with complex pathogenesis. There are few studies on the correlation between kynurenine metabolites in peripheral serum and urine in schizophrenia.ObjectiveTo investigate the concentration of tryptophan-kynurenine metabolites and interleukin-6 （IL-6） in serum and urine in patients with schizophrenia， and their correlation with clinical symptoms， so as to explore potential biological characteristics related to schizophrenia.MethodsA total of 38 patients with schizophrenia who met the criteria of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders， fifth edition （DSM-5）， and were hospitalized or attended outpatient clinic at Hangzhou Seventh People's Hospital from December 2021 to December 2022 were included in the study. Additionally， 26 healthy individuals were concurrently recruited from the community of Hangzhou to serve as a control group. All participants were requested to complete the Positive and Negative Symptom Scale （PANSS）. The levels of tryptophan （TRP）， kynurenine （KYN）， kynurenic acid （KYNA）， quinolinic acid （QUIN）， picolinic acid （PIC）， xanthurenate and 5-hydroxytryptamine （5-HT） in both serum and urine were measured using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-triple quadrupole linear ion trap mass spectrometry. Serum and urine IL-6 were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. BackgroundBariatric surgery has emerged as an important tool in the management of obesity. Some patients undergoing bariatric surgery are prone to develop emotional abnormalities and have abnormally elevated concentrations of inflammatory factors level in peripheral blood， whereas current domestic research focusing on the impact of preoperative emotional states and peripheral blood inflammatory factors level on weight loss effect remains limited.ObjectiveTo explore the correlation of preoperative emotional abnormalities with the effectiveness of bariatric surgery in obese patients， and to provide theoretical basis for improving the clinical efficacy of bariatric surgery.MethodsEighty-one obese patients scheduled for bariatric surgery at gastrointestinal surgery Department of West China Hospital， Sichuan University from December 30， 2022 to June 30， 2023 were enrolled and assessed using Hamilton Depression Scale-17 item （HAMD-17） and Hamilton Anxiety Scale （HAMA）. Patients who scored 7 or above on HAMD-17 or HAMA or had a history of previous depression or anxiety diagnoses were classified into emotional abnormality group （n=34）， and samples who scored less than 7 on HAMD-17 and HAMA and were free of history of previous depression and anxiety diagnoses were set as non-emotional abnormality group （n=47）. The data were collected by the self made questionnaire. Patients were subjected to complete the assessment of Beck Scale for Suicide Ideation-Chinese Version （BSI-CV）， Eating Disorder Inventory （EDI） and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index （PSQI）. Laboratory tests including peripheral blood C-reactive protein （CRP） and interleukin-6 （IL-6）. Body weight and height assessed in the early morning after an overnight fasting period were recorded in all participants at 1- and 6-month after surgery through outpatient clinic visits or telephone follow-up. Pearson correlation coefficient was used to examine relationship among body mass index （BMI）， preoperative emotional states and peripheral blood inflammation mediators.ResultsAmong 81 obese patients， 62 completed the study， including 27 cases in emotional abnormality group and 35 cases in non-emotional abnormality group. Abstract Background Haemonchus contortus (H. contortus) is the most common parasitic nematode in ruminants and is prevalent worldwide. H. contortus resistance to albendazole (ABZ) hinders the efficacy of anthelmintic drugs, but little is known about the molecular mechanisms that regulate this of drug resistance. Recent research has demonstrated that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) can exert significant influence as pivotal regulators of the emergence of drug resistance. Results In this study, transcriptome sequencing was conducted on both albendazole-sensitive (ABZ-sensitive) and albendazole-resistant (ABZ-resistant) H. contortus strains, with three biological replicates for each group. Objective: To explore the short-and long-term efficacy and toxic and side effects of hyperfractionated radiotherapy with different fractionated doses in patients with limited stage small cell lung cancer (SCLC). Methods: From August 2017 to August 2019, 70 patients with limited stage SCLC admitted to Zhangye People’s Hospital were selected and divided into control group (n=35) and observation group (n=35) according to the random number table method. Conventional chemotherapy and hyperfractionated radiotherapy were used in both groups, with a total dose of 45 Gy in the control group and 60 Gy in the observation group. A three-year follow-up was carried out to compare the short- and long-term efficacy (survival and local control rate), and the occurrence of toxic and side effects between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate in the observation group was obviously higher than that in the control group (91.43% vs 71.43%, χ2=4.629, P=0.031). The 1-, 2-, and 3-year local control rates and survival rates of patients in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P＜0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P＞0.05), and most of adverse reactions were grade Ⅰ-Ⅱ, which did not affect the course of treatment. After treatment, the scores of life quality in both groups increased significantly (P＜0.01), and the observation group showed a significant increase compared to the control group (P＜0.01). Conclusion: Hyperfractionnated radiotherapy with appropriately increased fractionated dose for patients with limited stage SCLC has better short- and long-term efficacy, higher local control rate and survival, and no significant increase in toxic and side effects, which is safe and can improve the quality of patients' life.

Graph Convolutional Networks (GCN) are a potent and adaptable tool for effectively processing and analyzing continuous spatial data. Despite the substantial potential of GCN in various domains, most existing spatial data prediction models are confined to defining weights solely based on distance. To overcome this limitation, this study proposes a novel approach to obtain the second-level embedding of Points of Interests (POIs) by employing Delaunay Triangulation (DT), Random Walk, and Skip-Gram model training. Subsequently, enhanced features are obtained through various aggregation strategies for regional embedding. The integrated grid data, including longitude and latitude coordinates, enhanced features, and target values, are then integrated. Finally, the GCN is utilized for training and fitting to achieve the final prediction target value. By considering the influence of weights on data prediction, this approach can more accurately reflect the distribution and relationships of data in the actual environment. Furthermore, we have experimentally validated the effectiveness of this approach, demonstrating that it significantly enhances the accuracy of spatial data prediction when compared to the original GCN model’s approach.

ObjectiveTo investigate the high-risk detection rate and aggregation of cardiovascular diseases（CVD） in 8 districts of Shanghai and influencing factors， and to provide scientific references for prevention and control of CVD.MethodsBased on the Cardiovascular Disease Screening and Management Program in Shanghai from 2016 to 2021， 104 685 participants aged 35 to 75 in 8 districts of Shanghai were selected for analysis. χ2 test and multivariate logistic regression were used for statistical analysis of the influencing factors of CVD and aggregation of CVD.ResultsThe proportion of high-risk CVD individuals in the population was 19.17%， including the high-risk individuals with hypertension （8.65%）， dyslipidemia （6.33%）， CVD history （5.58%）， and WHO assessed risk ≥20% types （2.69%）， respectively. Old age， overweight and obesity， central obesity， smoking， drinking， farmers， unmarried， and low family income were the risk factors of CVD， while high education level was the protective factor. In the participants， 16 323 people （81.34%） were classified as CVD high-risk groups； The number of aggregation of 1， 2 and ≥3 high risk types of CVD were 16 323（81.34%）， 3 236（16.13%）， 509（2.54%）， respectively. Old age， low education level， low annual family income， farmers， unmarried， smoking， drinking， overweight， obesity and central obesity were associated with the risk of aggregation of high risk types of CVD， and the correlation strength increased with the increase of aggregation types.ConclusionThe prevention and control of CVD in Shanghai should focus on the hypertension， elderly， overweight， obesity， central obesity， smoking， drinking， low educated， low family income， farmers and unmarried people， and targeted intervention measures should be taken to reduce the risk of CVD among residents.

As sports developing and popularizing, people have put forward increasing demands for fairness and transparency in competitions. However, traditional competition referee systems rely too heavily on human subjective judgment, which often leads to significant subjectivity and in-accuracy issues. To overcome these difficulties, some improvements have been made on the basis of the fuzzy C-means algorithm to preserve more information, while also suppressing membership to improve the convergence speed of the algorithm. These results confirm that the accuracy of the model converged approximately in the 600th round, with an accuracy of 96.1%. Compared with the standard fuzzy C-means algorithm, the convergence speed has been improved by 33% and the accuracy has been improved by 2.1%. This experiment verifies the effectiveness and practicality of the video referee in this competition. This provides new ideas for the development of image segmenting technology and has certain application potential in sports competition refereeing, judicial notarization refereeing, and other fields.

Abstract Background Antenatal Bartter syndrome is a life-threatening disease caused by a mutation in the MAGED2 gene located on chromosome Xp11. It is characterized by severe polyhydramnios and extreme prematurity. While most reported mutations are located in the exon region, variations in the intron region are rarely reported. Methods In our study, we employed whole exome sequencing and Sanger sequencing to genotype members of this family. Additionally, a minigene assay was conducted to evaluate the impact of genetic variants on splicing. Results Our findings reveal a novel intronic variant (NM_177433.3:c.1271 + 4_1271 + 7delAGTA) in intron 10 of the MAGED2 gene. Further analysis using the minigene assay demonstrated that this variant activated an intronic cryptic splice site, resulting in a 96 bp insertion in mature mRNA. Conclusions Our results indicate that the novel intronic variant (c.1271 + 4_1271 + 7delAGTA) in intron 10 of the MAGED2 gene is pathogenic. This expands the mutation spectrum of MAGED2 and highlights the significance of intronic sequence analysis.

Abstract Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy has demonstrated clinical response in treating both hematologic malignancies and solid tumors. Although instances of rapid tumor remissions have been observed in animal models and clinical trials, tumor relapses occur with multiple therapeutic resistance mechanisms. Furthermore, while the mechanisms underlying the long-term therapeutic resistance are well-known, short-term adaptation remains less understood. However, more views shed light on short-term adaptation and hold that it provides an opportunity window for long-term resistance. In this study, we explore a previously unreported mechanism in which tumor cells employ trogocytosis to acquire CAR molecules from CAR-T cells, a reversal of previously documented processes. This mechanism results in the depletion of CAR molecules and subsequent CAR-T cell dysfunction, also leading to short-term antigen loss and antigen masking. Such type of intercellular communication is independent of CAR downstream signaling, CAR-T cell condition, target antigen, and tumor cell type. However, it is mainly dependent on antigen density and CAR sensitivity, and is associated with tumor cell cholesterol metabolism. Partial mitigation of this trogocytosis-induced CAR molecule transfer can be achieved by adaptively administering CAR-T cells with antigen density-individualized CAR sensitivities. Together, our study reveals a dynamic process of CAR molecule transfer and refining the framework of clinical CAR-T therapy for solid tumors.

Abstract Background We created discriminative models of different regions of interest (ROIs) using radiomic texture features of neurite orientation dispersion and density imaging (NODDI) and evaluated the feasibility of each model in differentiating glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) from solitary brain metastasis (SBM). Methods We conducted a retrospective study of 204 patients with GBM (n = 146) or SBM (n = 58). Radiomic texture features were extracted from five ROIs based on three metric maps (intracellular volume fraction, orientation dispersion index, and isotropic volume fraction of NODDI), including necrosis, solid tumors, peritumoral edema, tumor bulk volume (TBV), and abnormal bulk volume. Four feature selection methods and eight classifiers were used for the radiomic texture feature selection and model construction. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was used to evaluate the diagnostic performance of the models. Routine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) radiomic texture feature models generated in the same manner were used for the horizontal comparison. Results NODDI-radiomic texture analysis based on TBV subregions exhibited the highest accuracy (although nonsignificant) in differentiating GBM from SBM, with area under the ROC curve (AUC) values of 0.918 and 0.882 in the training and test datasets, respectively, compared to necrosis (AUCtraining:0.845, AUCtest:0.714), solid tumor (AUCtraining:0.852, AUCtest:0.821), peritumoral edema (AUCtraining:0.817, AUCtest:0.762), and ABV (AUCtraining:0.834, AUCtest:0.779). The performance of the five ROI radiomic texture models in routine MRI was inferior to that of the NODDI-radiomic texture model. Conclusion Preoperative NODDI-radiomic texture analysis based on TBV subregions shows great potential for distinguishing GBM from SBM.

Osteoporosis is a systemic bone disease characterized by reduced bone mass and deterioration of the microstructure of bone tissue, leading to an increased risk of fragility fractures and affecting human health worldwide. Food-derived peptides are widely used in functional foods due to their low toxicity, ease of digestion and absorption, and potential to improve osteoporosis. This review summarized and discussed methods of diagnosing osteoporosis, treatment approaches, specific peptides as alternatives to conventional drugs, and the laboratory preparation and identification methods of peptides. It was found that peptides interacting with RGD (arginine-glycine-aspartic acid)-binding active sites in integrin could alleviate osteoporosis, analyzed the interaction sites between these osteogenic peptides and integrin, and further discussed their effects on improving osteoporosis. These may provide new insights for rapid screening of osteogenic peptides, and provide a theoretical basis for their application in bone materials and functional foods.

In real forest fire scenarios, there are a large number of convex and concave terrains at the junction of flat land and slopes. In this paper, a typical charring material, kraft paper, is selected as the experimental sample, and the variation law of key characteristic parameters of flame spread over convex solid surface are investigated. The experimental results show that all the flame spread processes have obvious deceleration behaviors, and the influence mechanism of flame tangent angle on the flame spread deceleration of convex surfaces is revealed. The characteristic length of the pyrolysis zone shows a tendency of increasing and then decreasing with time. The variation curves of radiant heat flux present two peaks. Combining with the characteristic length, the reason for the occurrence of two peaks is explained. The exponential relationship between the instantaneous mass loss rate and the characteristic length of the pyrolysis zone is obtained. Based on the range of power exponents, the heat transfer controlling mechanism in the pyrolysis zone is classified into three categories for all the working conditions. Moreover, a piecewise power-law relationship between the dimensionless maximum flame height and the dimensionless heat release rate is established. The results of this study will fill the research gap of flame spread of solid materials with curved surfaces, and will be of great academic value for the improvement and development of theories on building and forest fire safety.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the impact of lifelong exercise, including both moderate-intensity continuous training and high-intensity interval training, on blood lipid levels and mental behaviour in naturally ageing mice to identify effective exercise strategies for ageing-related health issues. Methods: Six-week-old male BALB/c mice were randomly assigned to one of four groups: young control (YC), natural ageing control (OC), lifelong moderate-intensity continuous exercise (EM), and lifelong high-intensity interval exercise (EH) groups. The EM group was trained at a speed corresponding to 70 % of the maximum running speed, while the EH group was trained at a running speed alternating between 50 % of the maximum running speed, 70 % of the maximum running speed, and 90 % of the maximum running speed. All exercise sessions were conducted three times per week, with each session lasting 50 min. Behavioural tests and blood sample collection were conducted at 72 weeks of age. Results: Ageing in mice led to changes in muscle and fat mass. Both the EM and EH groups showed greater muscle mass and lower fat mass than did the OC group. Ageing was associated with elevated anxiety (fewer open arm entries, time spent in the central region) and depression (lower sucrose preference) indicators. However, these changes were reversed in both exercise groups, with no differences between the two exercise groups. Blood lipid levels, including total cholesterol (TC), total triglycerides (TGs), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), and free fatty acid (FFA) levels, were greater in the OC group than in the YC group. Additionally, the OC group exhibited lower high-density lipoprotein (HDL) levels. However, both the EM and EH groups exhibited improved lipid profiles compared to those of the YC group. Conclusion: Lifelong exercise, whether moderate-intensity continuous or high-intensity interval training, can preserve body health during ageing, prevent anxiety and depression, and maintain stable blood lipid levels. Both exercise types are equally effective, suggesting that exercise intensity may not be the critical factor underlying these beneficial adaptations.

Ribonucleic acid is a crucial biomolecule in living organisms, with various types. To promote the research process of ribonucleic acid function, this study is for analyzing the utilization of heuristic algorithms on the ground of fusion dynamic programming in predicting the secondary structure of ribonucleic acid. Research on novel use of tree models for RNA secondary structure comparison, and use heuristic algorithms to optimize the multi branch structure comparison of tree models. Firstly, this study utilized dynamic programming algorithms to construct a comparison matrix and successfully found the backtracking path in the matrix. Meanwhile, for ensuring that the structural information of ribonucleic acid is not lost during the comparative analysis process, the study applies the idea of heuristic algorithms to calculate the optimal comparison between multi branched loops. Finally, the weights are adjusted using neural network algorithms to predict the optimal alignment structure. The results showed that the fusion dynamic programming heuristic algorithm achieved generalization performance of 0.928, 0.856, 0.842, and 0.793 on the target base data test sets of humans, mice, yeast, and spotted fish, respectively. Compared with the SimTree algorithm, the generalization performance has been improved by 15.13 %, 27.38 %, 27.77 %, and 38.88 %, respectively. In summary, the application of heuristic algorithms integrating dynamic programming in predicting the secondary structure of ribonucleic acid has good predictive performance. This has reference value for a deeper understanding of the structure and function relationship of ribonucleic acid.

Comprehensive characterizations of the superelastic and elastocaloric effects of NiTi and NiTi-based shape memory alloys (SMA) in the operation temperature region are highly desirable for using them in elastocaloric coolers with a large temperature lift. In this article, we report the superelastic and elastocaloric effects of a commercially available superelastic polycrystalline NiTi SMA tube with an outer diameter of 5 mm and a wall thickness of 1 mm between 293 and 330 K. The NiTi tube sample was subjected to a training of 250 cycles to stabilize its superelastic and elastocaloric effects. We observed that temperature dependencies existed for both superelastic and elastocaloric effects of the NiTi tube, and stress–strain curves differed much between isothermal and adiabatic loading conditions. The largest temperature rise and temperature drop measured at 293 K under an applied strain of 3.66% and a strain rate of 0.1 s−1 during loading and unloading were 21 and 11 K, respectively. The loading conditions (loading function and holding time) also impacted the superelastic effect of the NiTi tube. We identified two major reasons for the irreversibility of the adiabatic temperature change: the hysteresis heat dissipation and the temporary residual strain after unloading, and they affected the cooling performance of the elastocaloric cooler in different ways. We investigated the dependencies of the superelastic and elastocaloric effects on the maximum applied strain and the temperature distribution on the NiTi tube during loading and unloading. The results are beneficial to the modeling of elastocaloric coolers with large temperature lifts.

Mixed germ cell tumors (mGCTs) involving both the ovaries and sellar region have been rarely reported; thus, they pose significant challenges in clinical management. Our report of a case of a 26-year-old female with left ovarian mGCTs (dysgerminoma + yolk sac tumor) who presented with postoperative headaches and blurred vision contributes new information to the literature on treating mGCTs, which can lead to standardized regimens and sequencing guidelines. A physical examination revealed right temporal hemianopia, and elevated levels of alpha-fetoprotein were detected in serum and cerebrospinal fluid. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the sellar region revealed a space-occupying lesion. Pathological examination of the tumor after endoscopic transnasal resection confirmed the diagnosis of mGCTs (germinomas + yolk sac tumor). The patient received adjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy at reduced dosages. During follow-up, tumor markers remained within normal limits, and there was no evidence of tumor recurrence on sellar region MRI. This case highlights the rarity of the simultaneous occurrence of ovarian and sellar region mGCTs and emphasizes the importance of accurate diagnosis and multidisciplinary management.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory demyelinating disease of the central nervous system primarily mediated by CD4+ T helper cells. This study investigated the dynamic changes of natural killer (NK) cells and follicular T helper (Tfh) cells and their associations in relapsing-remitting MS patients. The findings revealed inverse relationships between NK cells and CD4+ T cells or Tfh cells. Specifically, CD56dim NK cells, not CD56bright NK cells, were negatively correlated with CD4+ T cells and Tfh cells. However, no significant correlations were found between NK cells and sNfL levels or EDSS scores. The ratio of CD56dim NK cells to circulating Tfh (cTfh) cells demonstrated superior discriminatory ability in distinguishing relapsing MS patients from healthy controls (HCs) and remitting patients, as determined by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis. Following treatment with immunosuppressants or disease-modifying therapies (DMTs), a significant increase in the CD56dim NK/cTfh ratio was observed. These findings suggest that the CD56dim NK/cTfh ratio holds promise as a prognostic indicator for clinical relapse and treatment response in MS.

The new regulations on ship energy efficiency proposed by the International Maritime Organization have had a significant impact on the shipping and shipbuilding industries. Improving the speed performance of ships was an effective approach to meet the requirements of energy conservation and emission reduction, reduce ship energy consumption and operating costs, and strengthen the market competitiveness of the ship enterprises. One method to improve ship speed performance was by mainly reducing the ship’s resistance. The main aim was to optimize the principal dimensions and hull lines of ships. Taking the research and development of a ship as an example, the application of the fully parametric optimization method in the optimization of ship hull lines was described in detail. The parent ship was selected from the ship database, which has excellent speed performance. The parent ship was simply transformed to meet the requirements of the target ship. The traditional optimization method was used to optimize the hull lines to reduce the hull resistance as much as possible, and a hull line with the best resistance performance was obtained. Based on the initial hull lines that met the requirements, the fully parametric model of the hull was established, and the fully parametric optimization method was used to optimize the hull with the best resistance performance. Experiments were carried out in the towing tank, and the resistance results of the two types of ships were found. The simulation of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and model test had good consistency, and it was found that the hull lines optimized by the fully parameterization method had better performance than those optimized by the traditional method. The fully parametric hull line optimization method was effective in optimizing hull lines, and it could also reduce the excessive dependence of research personnel on the parent ship and design experience.

Achieving complete magnetization switching is a significant challenge in the electrical control of magnetic devices. In this paper, we propose a structure called bicomponent multiferroic nanomagnet (BMN) to study strain-mediated magnetization switching behavior. The BMN consists of a complete piezoelectric layer and a magnetostrictive layer made of bicomponent magnetic materials. Our team successfully developed a dynamic model for the magnetization of BMNs. By micromagnetic simulation, the results show that the strict requirements for a precise applied voltage period can be overcome in such a BMN, and a 180° magnetization switching can be achieved with only a square-wave voltage signal and a pulse width (tth) larger than 0.5 ns, given that the amplitude of the voltage is 60 mV. In addition, we also investigated the tolerance window of material composition and geometry, and proved that BMNs have sufficient error margins and the switching rate of BMNs can reach 1.67 GHz within the error margins at room temperature. Our proposed BMN device has a simple structure and low energy consumption as it does not require precise piezoelectric layer design or stringent voltage clocking requirements. The energy consumption per switching is only 7.3 aJ. These findings provide significant guidance for the design of nanomagnetic logic and memory devices and lay a strong foundation for the application of strain-mediated magnetization switching technology.

Abstract The collective total syntheses of (±)‐hosieines A–C with a cage‐like tetracyclic framework have been realized, which includes the first syntheses of hosieines B‐C. The key strategy of the synthesis employs a one‐pot domino reaction that involves Cu‐catalyzed [3+2] cycloaddition, 1,6‐enone formation, and 1,6‐aza‐Michael addition forming the 5/6/6‐aza‐tricyclic skeleton. Other salient synthetic tactics comprise a challenging double bond migration and a 1,4‐aza‐Michael addition reaction to afford the tetracyclic framework.

Background and aimsMost pancreatic insulinomas can be treated by minimally invasive modalities. The aim of this meta-analysis was to assess the clinical outcomes of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided ablation and minimally invasive surgery (MIS) in the treatment of pancreatic insulinoma.Materials and methodsOnline databases were searched for relevant studies. The primary aim was to compare the rates of adverse events (AEs) and the secondary aims were to compare the clinical and technical success rates, length of hospital stays, and symptom recurrence rates between EUS and MIS approaches.ResultsEight studies with 150 patients were identified that reported EUS-guided ablation outcomes, forming the EUS group, and 9 studies with 236 patients reported MIS outcomes, forming the MIS group. The pooled median age of the included patients in the EUS group was greater than that of the MIS group (64.06 vs. 44.98 years old, p < 0.001). Also, the technical success rate was significantly higher in the EUS group (100% vs. 96.6%, p = 0.025), while the clinical success was significantly higher (6%) in the MIS group (94% vs. 98.7%, p = 0.021). The AE rates (18.7% vs. 31.1%, p = 0.012) and severe AE rates (1.3% vs. 7.9%, p = 0.011) were significantly lower in the EUS group. The median length of hospital stay in the EUS group (2.68 days, 95% CI: 1.88–3.48, I2 = 60.3%) was significantly shorter than in the MIS group (7.40 days, 95% CI: 6.22–8.58, I2 = 42.2%, p < 0.001). The recurrence rate was significantly higher in the EUS group (15.3% vs. 1.3%, p < 0.001).ConclusionsEUS-guided ablation is associated with a lower AE rate and a shorter length of hospital stay, but a higher recurrence rate for the treatment of insulinoma compared with MIS. The EUS approach may be an alternative, even first-line, treatment for poor surgery candidates.

Abstract In this study, Sb‐doped SnO2 nanosphere composite polypyrrole nanohybrid with different doping ratios (0–5 mol%, Sb:Sn) and composite ratios (0–30 mol%, Sb‐doped SnO2:polypyrrole) is synthesized by hydrothermal method and in situ chemical oxidation method. The flexible sensors are fabricated by drop‐casting the materials on polyamide substrate and gas sensing performances are investigated systematically at room temperature. The results show that the 3 at% Sb‐doped 20 mol% SnO2/polypyrrole nanohybrid exhibits excellent sensitivity (≈213% toward 100 ppm NH3) at room temperature, which are about 3 times as much as those of polypyrrole, as well as excellent selectivity and humidity resistance, reliable repeatability, and good robustness. The enhance sensing performance can be attributed to the formation of p‐n junction between conducting polymers and metal oxide semiconductor materials and the doping of Sb elements allows more electrons to transfer to polypyrrole, which further thickens the depletion layer and decreases hole concentrations in air. Therefore, Sb‐doped SnO2/polypyrrole nanohybrid may be a promising sensitive material for the design and manufacture of room temperature flexible ammonia gas sensors.

[Introduction] With the emphasis and promotion of the electricity market system construction by the government, the electricity market is constantly growing towards a deeper and more unified direction. In order to promote the electricity market construction, the influence factors of the electricity market risk and its evaluation remain to be studied further. [Method] Based on the consideration of the whole cycle of electricity market trading, this paper took pre-trade risk, during-trade risk, and post-trade riskas the entry points, integrated the existing risks in each stage of electricity market, and established the risk evaluation index system for electricity market. Based on the thought of subjective and objective weighting, analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and entropy weight method were used to assign weights to the index system respectively, and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation (FCE) was adopted to evaluate the comprehensive risk level of the electricity market. [Result] The rationality, comprehensiveness and validity of the proposed model are verified through the analysis of the calculation examples of different electricity markets. [Conclusion] The model eatablished in this paper can conduct a comprehensive risk evaluation for the electricity market, and provide a theoretical reference for the construction of the risk system of the electricity market and its future development direction.

Objective: The objective of this study was to develop high-quality non-fried whole shiitake (Lentinus edodes) crisps due to having high oil content of vacuum fried L. edodes crisps which inevitably pose health risks after long-term use. Methods: Based on uniform design, instant controlled pressure drop (DIC) was used to investigate the influences of moisture content after heat pump pre-drying, puffing temperature and vacuum drying temperature on the puffing degree, rehydration ratio, total color difference, hardness and crispness of L. edodes crisps. The polynomial regression model was established by using a weighted comprehensive score method, and it was optimized and verified accordingly. Results: The optimum parameter combinations of L. crisps during DIC processing were moisture content after heat pump pre-drying of 35.63%, puffing temperature of 100 ℃, vacuum drying temperature of 64.17 ℃. Under the control of these optimal parameter combinations, the puffing degree of L. crisps was 69.34%, total color difference was 20.68, hardness was 108.16 N, and crispness was 75.79. Conclusion: Uniform design combined with response surface methodology can be used to optimize processing parameters of DIC crisps and obtain high quality non-fried L. crisps.

Abstract Background Puberty marks the end of childhood and achieve sexual maturation and fertility. The role of hypothalamic proteins in regulating puberty onset is unclear. We performed a comprehensive differential proteomics and phosphoproteomics analysis in prepubertal and pubertal goats to determine the roles of hypothalamic proteins and phosphoproteins during the onset of puberty. Results We used peptide and posttranslational modifications peptide quantification and statistical analyses, and identified 69 differentially expressed proteins from 5,057 proteins and 576 differentially expressed phosphopeptides from 1574 phosphorylated proteins. Combined proteomic and phosphoproteomics, 759 correlated proteins were identified, of which 5 were differentially expressed only at the protein level, and 201 were only differentially expressed at the phosphoprotein level. Pathway enrichment analyses revealed that the majority of correlated proteins were associated with glycolysis/gluconeogenesis, Fc gamma R-mediated phagocytosis, focal adhesion, GABAergic synapse, and Rap1 signaling pathway. These pathways are related to cell proliferation, neurocyte migration, and promoting the release of gonadotropin-releasing hormone in the hypothalamus. CTNNB1 occupied important locations in the protein-protein interaction network and is involved in focal adhesion. Conclusion The results demonstrate that the proteins differentially expression only at the protein level or only differentially expressed at the phosphoprotein level and their related signalling pathways are crucial in regulating puberty in goats. These differentially expressed proteins and phosphorylated proteins may constitute the proteomic backgrounds between the two different stages.

Antimony (Sb) in natural water has long-term effects on both the ecological environment and human health. Iron mineral phase transformation (IMPT) is a prominent process for removing Sb(V) from natural water. However, the importance of IMPT in eliminating Sb remains uncertain. This study examined the various Sb–Fe binding mechanisms found in different IMPT pathways in natural water, shedding light on the underlying mechanisms. The study revealed that the presence of goethite (Goe), hematite (Hem), and magnetite (Mag) significantly affected the concentration of Sb(V) in natural water. Elevated pH levels facilitated higher Fe content in iron solids but impeded the process of removing Sb(V). To further our understanding, polluted natural water samples were collected from various locations surrounding Sb smelter sites.
