6. Solid Solvation Assisted Electrical Doping Conserves High‐Performance in 500 nm Active Layer Organic Solar Cells.

Abstract

Organic solar cells (OSCs) process fascinating solution‐printing capability to achieve low‐cost and large‐scale manufacture. However, the rapid power conversion efficiency (PCE) decay with active layer thickness enlargement inhibits the implement of OSCs' potential advantages. To overcome the bottlenecks of PCE decay in thick active layer OSCs, the electrical doping with componential selectivity in bulk heterojunction (BHJ) film is achieved by introducing a solid solvation additive. Benefiting from the higher exciton splitting efficiency together with the longer drift (Ldr) and diffusion (Ldiff) lengths, an OSC with 100 nm BHJ film demonstrates a PCE increment from 16.44% to 18.24% with prolonged dark and illuminated storage stabilities. Applying the solid solvation assisted (SSA) doping method in the OSCs with 500 nm active layer, the PCE significantly increases by 31.9%, from the original value of 11.79% to 15.55%. It further improves to 15.84% in a ternary blend thick‐film device, which is the record value to the best of our knowledge. Besides, the SSA doping narrows the PCE gap between the 0.04 and 1 cm2 devices. All improvements demonstrate the great potential of SSA doping for OSC commercial manufacture, since it optimizes the photovoltaic performance under all practical conditions of long‐term, thick‐film, and large‐area. Abstract

Background: Paranasal sinusitis is frequently encountered in clinical practice. The application of imaging techniques has highlighted the high incidence of incidental sinus abnormalities. Additionally, the adverse impact of smoking on paranasal sinusitis has been verified; however, few studies have compared the characteristics of affected sinuses between non-smokers and smokers. This study aimed to assess the prevalence of paranasal sinusitis detected by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and determine its characteristics and affected sinuses in smokers. Methods: This cross-sectional study involved 4813 participants from two communities in Shanghai, China. Demographic data were recorded, and participants underwent a physical examination and head MRI. Logistic regression analysis was used to examine the relationship between smoking and paranasal sinusitis and the Cochran–Armitage test to analyze age-specific prevalence of paranasal sinusitis in smokers versus non-smokers. 26. Enhancing the Photovoltaic Performance of a Benzo[ c ][1,2,5]thiadiazole-Based Polymer Donor via a Non-Fullerene Acceptor Pairing Strategy.

Abstract

As a well-known electron-withdrawing group, benzo[ c ][1,2,5]thiadiazole (BT) has been intensively studied and adopted to construct polymer donors with tunable band gaps. However, polymer solar cells (PSCs) with BT-based polymer donors, limited by the weak absorption and inflexible energy level of fullerene derivatives, usually suffer mediocre power conversion efficiencies (PCEs). Here, through subtly tailoring a BT unit with asymmetric fluoro and alkyloxy groups and judiciously pairing a BT-based polymer donor with three narrow band gap non-fullerene acceptors (e.g., IEICO-4F, ITOIC-2F, and IDTCN-O), active layers with complementary absorption spectra, small lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) offsets, and preferred morphologies have been achieved. Consequently, PSCs with excellent J sc values (over 20 mA/cm 2 ) and high PCEs up to 12.33% have been obtained. To the best of our knowledge, the value of 12.33% is among the highest PCEs for BT-based polymers in binary PSCs so far. This work demonstrates that the cooperative effect of energy levels, absorption spectra, and morphologies between the donors and acceptors is crucial for governing the performance of organic photovoltaics.
