Jellyfishes, which are one of the most important consumers in marine ecosystems, may have detri-mental effects on fish stocks that have economic value. Therefore, identifying and monitoring jelly-fish presence is important. We observed four individuals of symbiotic rhizostome scyphozoan Cot-ylorhiza tuberculata in the vicinity of the Princes’ Islands Archipelago, in the Northeast Sea of Marmara, Turkey in September 2020. Although this species is a common member of gelatinous plankton in the Mediterranean Sea, the present study is the first record from the Sea of Marmara.

Aim of study: Main objective of this research was to predict some of the processes (soil loss, runoff and sediment yield) related to soil erosion with the help of WEPP (Water Erosion Prediction Project) model.Area of study: The WEPP model was applied to the Düz Creek Watershed (1059 ha in size). It is a sub-watershed flowing into the greater Çoruh River Basin near the district of Borçka, Artvin.Material and methods: As required by the WEPP model, four large-data files of soil, climate, slope and plant cover/management were created for the watershed using the data gathered from in-field samplings (soil), laboratory analyses and GIS (Geographical Information Systems) assessments. For easier run and detailed investigation of soil erosion process of the research area, the studied watershed was divided into eight small hydrological units (SHUs) and the program was run on these SHUs. Main results: At the end of GeoWEPP’s run, the results revealed that a total of about 735 mm annual precipitation was fell within the study area. The model also predicted that there was approximately 207 mm as runoff out of this amount of precipitation, which, in turn, generated an annual total soil loss and sediment amounts as 2815.2 t and 2720.9 t, respectively. In addition, the sediment yield per unit area was estimated to be around 2.57 ton/ha/yr while the sediment delivery ratio (SDR) was found to be as 0.977. Lastly, the model predicted that the particle distribution of eroded sediment were 20%, 25% and 55% of clay, silt and sand, respectively, while the mean organic matter (OM) amount of the lost sediment was about 5% for the studied watershed.Highlights: Soil loss and sediment yield can be calculated for large areas in a short time and with little cost., Çalışmanın amacı: Havzada oluşan toprak kaybı ve sediment veriminin WEPP modeli ve CBS (Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemleri) tekniklerinin entegre edildiği GeoWEPP arayüzü kullanılarak kısa sürede ve az masrafla hesaplanması amaçlanmıştır.Çalışma alanı: Çoruh nehrine birleşen Düz Dere Havzası araştırma alanı olarak seçilmiştir.Materyal ve yöntem: GeoWEPP ara yüzü için gerekli olan iklim, eğim ve bitki amenajmanı dosyalarına ek olarak toprak dosyası oluşturulmuştur. Araştırma havzası sekiz alt havzaya bölünmüş ve program bu alt havzalarda yürütülerek toprak kaybı, yüzeysel akış ve sediment veriminin ortalama değerleri hesaplanmıştır.Sonuçlar: Çalışma sonucunda, havzaya 735 mm’lik yağış düştüğü ve bunun yaklaşık olarak 207 mm’sinin yüzeysel akışa geçtiği tahmin edilmiştir.1059 ha’lık bir alana sahip olan havzada yıllık toplam toprak kaybı ve sediment miktarı sırası ile 2815.2 ve 2720.9 ton olarak bulunmuştur. Bununla beraber, birim alandan ise 2.57 ton/ha/yıl sediment verimi gerçekleştiği hesaplanmıştır. Ortalama sediment iletim oranı yaklaşık 0.977 olarak bulunmuştur. Ek olarak, taşınan sediment içerisindeki ortalama kil oranının % 20, toz oranının % 25, kum oranının % 55, organik madde miktarının ise % 5 olduğu tahmin edilmiştir.Önemli vurgular: Toprak kaybı ve sediment verimi, büyük alanlar için kısa sürede ve daha az maliyetle hesaplanabilir.

Bu çalışma, Haziran-Eylül 2017'de, Marmara Denizi'nde yer alan dört farklı istasyonda (Ambarlı Limanı, Haydarpaşa Limanı, Bandırma Limanı ve Kocaeli Limanı) dağılım gösteren hidroid poliplerini belirlemek amacı ile suya daldırılıp üç ay boyunca suda bırakılan üç farklı materyalden (tahta, PVC, iple kaplı PVC) oluşan plakaların örneklemesi ile yürütülmüştür. Çalışma alanımız olan limanlardan alınan plakalar üzerindeki biyofouling organizmaların teşhisinde dünya denizleri ve özellikle Akdeniz'de hidrozoalarla ilgili yapılan sistematik çalışmalardan yararlanılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda, limanlarda toplam 5 familyaya ait 7 tür (Ectopleura crocea, Obelia dichotoma, Bougainvillia muscus, Clytia gracilis Eudendrium capillare, Eudendrium cf. merulum ve Sertularella ellisii) bulunmuş olup Ectopleura crocea Marmara Denizi için yeni kayıt türdür. In this study, in order to determine the hydroid polyps distribution, three plaques which are made from different materials (wooden, PVC, rope coated PVC) are submerged at four different stations (Ambarlı Harbor, Haydarpaşa Harbor, Bandırma Harbor, and Kocaeli Harbor) in the Marmara Sea for three months (June-September 2017). The systematic studies on hydrozoans in the world seas, especially in the Mediterranean, are utilized in the identification of biofouling organisms on plaques that are taken from the harbors in our study. As a result of the study, 7 species belonging to 5 families (Ectopleura crocea, Obelia dichotoma, Bougainvillia muscus, Clytia gracilis Eudendrium capillare, Eudendrium cf. merulum and Sertularella ellisii) are found. Among these species, Ectopleura crocea is a new record for the Marmara Sea. 69

The Coruh Dams Project, an ongoing project planned by the State Water Affairs, involving several large dams and associated roads to be constructed along the Coruh River Valley, has been causing serious changes including land loss and degradation within the Valley, but the data on scientific estimations of such changes is very limited. Therefore, it is crucial to estimate areal amount of land loss and degradation due to both inundation of reservoir areas and improper road constructions with an easy and cost-effective ways in order to realize the changes expected in the watershed before these projects are completed so that planning of watersheds can be initiated timely. In this study, the aim was to determine areal land loss and degradation caused by seven large dams at different stages (e.g. completed, under-construction or planned) and associated road constructions on the Middle and Lower Coruh Watershed within the city of Artvin. In order to find out the land use types and estimate areal sizes of lands inundated/damaged by these dams and improper road constructions, “forestry stand maps” and “CORINE Land Cover (CLC-2006)” along with data gathered from the processes of “compulsory purchases” for some of the completed dams were used. Estimates showed that when all the large dams are completed, according to two maps used in this research, approximately 8137 ha area with various land use types will be inundated and consequently lost. It was clearly seen that out of this total area the biggest ratio was forested lands (62% according to the forest stand maps; 52% according to the CLC-2006) while the smallest ratio belonged to establishments (0.77% according to the forest stand maps; 1.77% according to the CLC-2006). In addition, when comparing the estimates from the forest stand maps and the CLC-2006 with the estimates calculated from the processes of compulsory purchases for Borcka, Deriner and Artvin Dams, it was determined that both maps did not revealed results that were close to the actual measurements gathered from the data of the compulsory purchases. In addition, it was estimated that approximately 413 ha of land was damaged due to improper road constructions where large amount of excavated materials was thrown down the very steep fill slope during the constructions of new roads (tunnel constructions were excluded) only for Borcka and Deriner dams, Devlet Su İşleri’nin (DSİ) halen devam eden “Çoruh Barajlar Projesi” kapsamında planlanan çok sayıda büyük baraj ve HES tesisinin inşası, Çoruh Nehri Havzası (ÇNH) üzerinde arazi kayıpları ve bozulmaları gibi ciddi değişimlere neden olmaktadır ancak bu değişimleri bilimsel olarak ortaya koyan veri miktarı ise oldukça kısıtlıdır. Bu nedenle, hem barajların tamamlanarak su tutmaya başlaması hem de söz konusu baraj projeleri kapsamında yenilenen yolların inşaatları aşamalarında farklı amaçlarla kullanılan arazilerde meydana gelen/gelecek kayıpların/bozulmaların kısa sürede, güvenilir bir doğrulukla ve en az maliyetle tahmin edilmesi önemlidir. Böylece, akarsu yatağı boyunca havzalarda oluşabilecek bazı ciddi olumsuzlukların önceden bilinmesi ve sonrasında da bu havzaların yeniden planlanması sağlanabilir. Bu çalışmada, Çoruh Nehri'nin Artvin il sınırları içerisinde farklı aşamalarda olan (tamamlanan, inşası devam eden veya planlanan) 7 büyük baraj ve HES tesisi ile bağlantılı yol inşaatlarının neden olduğu/olacağı arazi kayıpları ve tahribatlarının saptanması amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla, Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemleri (CBS) yardımı ile meşcere ve CORINE arazi örtüsü (CLC-2006) haritaları ile beraber tamamlanan bazı barajlardaki kamulaştırma verilerinden yararlanarak hem söz konusu barajlardan dolayı sular altında kalacak hem de yol inşaatları nedeni ile tahrip olacak arazilerin kullanım şekilleri ve alansal büyüklükleri ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda barajların tümünün tamamlandığı varsayıldığında, farklı amaçlarla kullanılan yaklaşık 8137 ha alanın sular altında kalarak işlevlerini yitireceği tespit edilmiştir. Tüm bu alan içerisinde en büyük oranın orman (meşcere haritalarına göre %62; CLC-2006 arazi örtüsüne göre %52) niteliğindeki araziler, en küçük oranın ise yerleşim yeri (meşcere haritalarına göre %0.77, CLC-2006 arazi örtüsüne göre %1.77) niteliğindeki araziler olduğu belirlenmiştir. Bunlara ilaveten Borçka, Deriner ve Artvin Barajlarından elde edilen istimlak/kamulaştırma (kadastro parselleri) verileri ile bu çalışmada kullanılan meşcere ve CLC-2006 haritalarından elde edilen veriler karşılaştırılmış ve iki veri kaynağı arasında farklılıklar olduğu görülmüştür. Ayrıca, Borçka ve Deriner Barajları nedeni ile yan yollar ve köy yolları dışında kalan ana yolların (tünel yapıları hariç) inşaatları sırasında ortaya çıkan hafriyatın gelişigüzel bir şekilde şevlerden aşağı atılması sonucunda tahrip olan arazi miktarının ise yaklaşık 413 ha civarında olduğu tahmin edilmiştir

The Eastern Black Sea Region is characterized by mountainous and steep terrain, limiting agricultural activities. This, in turn, has been causing the natural lands of mostly forests and grasslands in the region to be converted to other uses, mostly agriculture as an alternative income for the local people. However, it is well known that such conversions negatively affect all the natural resources including soil properties. Therefore, in this study, changes in some soil parameters in the forest and the neighboring agriculture (converted from the forest) lands within the watershed of the Godrahav Creek Watershed were investigated with respect to current land use type and soil depth. For this purpose, a total of 36 soil samples based on land use types (forestland, agriculture) and soil depth (0-10 cm and 10-20 cm) were taken to be analyzed for texture, permeability, bulk density, organic matter (OM), pH. Differences and relations among these properties were statistically examined using the analysis of variance analyses (ANOVA). It was determined that the most of the soil characteristics analyzed were significantly different between the lands of forest and agriculture in the study area. For example, as expected, the amount of OM was significantly higher in forestlands with 6.71% than the agricultural land with 5.50% while the pH was increased from 5.51 to 6.88 after conversion. In addition, bulk density was also increased from 1.07 gr/cm3 in forests to 1.23 gr/cm3 in agriculture areas whereas better permeability was found for forestlands (302.32 mm/hr) than agricultural lands (110.96 mm/hr).

Ancak, bu faktörlerin her birinin çok sayıda alt faktörü de olduğu göz önünde bulundurulduğunda özellikle arazi koşullarında toprak kayıplarını tahmin etmenin zamansal ve finansal açıdan büyük güçlükler içerdiği açıktır. Bu nedenle, USLE (Universal Soil Loss Equation) ile başlayan ve daha sonraları ise RUSLE (Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation), WARSEM (Washington Road Surface Erosion Model) ve WEPP (Water Erosion Prediction Project) gibi giderek artan sayıdaki modelleme yöntemleri ile devam eden süreçte bir havza üzerindeki erozyonun tahmini çalışmaları bilgisayar ve CBS teknikleri kullanılarak tahmin edilmeye ve modellenmeye başlanmıştır. Önemli ölçüde kolaylıklar getiren bu yeni tekniklerin ülkemizde kullanımı ise oldukça sınırlıdır. Bu modellemelerin sıkça kullanıldığı alanlardan birisi de büyük baraj havzalarıdır çünkü bu baraj rezervuarlarına ulaşan sediment miktarına dair verilerin kısa sürede ve hızlı bir şekilde belirlenmesi hem barajların elektrik üretimindeki işletim ömürleri hem de rezervuar havzasındaki sorunlu alanların ortaya çıkarılarak gerekli önlemlerin alınması açılarından oldukça önemlidir. Üzerinde büyük baraj projelerinin planlandığı Çoruh Nehri Havzası (ÇNH) söz konusu modelleme tekniklerinin uygulanabileceği çok sayıda örnek alan içermektedir ki bunlardan biri olan Borçka Barajı Havzası bu araştırmada çalışma alanı olarak seçilmiştir. Bu çalışmanın ana amaçları; havzada oluşan toprak kaybı ve sediment verimi miktarlarının WEPP modeli ve CBS teknikleri kullanılarak kısa sürede ve az masrafla hesaplanması ve böylece Çoruh Nehri Havzası'nda bir erozyon tahmin modellemesi uygulayarak toprak erozyonu olgusunun havza bazında irdelenmesi çalışmalarının başlatılması olarak belirlenmiştir. Yağış havzasında ana kaya, arazi kullanımı, eğim ve bakı faktörleri dikkate alınarak 15 model havza seçilmiştir. Seçilen bu model havzaların tamamından 240 adeti 0-10 cm, ve 240 adeti 10-30 cm derinlik kademesinden olmak üzere toplam 480 adet bozulmuş (poşet), 480 adet de bozulmamış (silindir) toprak örneği alınmıştır. Alınan örnekler üzerinde tekstür, hacim ağırlığı, geçirgenlik, su tutma kapasitesi, toprak reaksiyonu, organik madde içeriği gibi bazı fiziksel, hidro-fiziksel ve kimyasal analizler yapılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda, 86576.83 ha'lık bir alana sahip olan Borçka Barajı Havzası'nda yıllık toplam sediment miktarı 360431.70 ton, yıllık ortalama sediment miktarı ise havza genelinde toplam 242.41 ton/ha/yıl olarak bulunmuştur. Birim alandan (ha bazında) ise yılda 4.16 ton sediment verimi gerçekleştiği hesaplanmıştır. Ayrıca, analizi yapılan toprak özellikleri seçilen model havzalar, ana kaya gurubu, arazi kullanımı ve toprak derinliği bakımından karşılaştırılmış ve karşılaştırmaların önemli kısmının istatistiksel anlamda farklılık gösterdiği belirlenmiştir. Bu çalışma sonucunda elde edilen veriler Çoruh Nehri Havzasında planlanan diğer baraj projeleri için de benzer modellerin uygulanabilmesi açısından önemli bir örnek teşkil edecektir. For many years, excessive and inappropriate uses of natural resources have caused the fragile balance between soil, water and plant to be broken; thus, the problems including accelerated soil erosion, increase in flooding events and sedimentation have reached a serious level. Necessary precautions should be taken against these problems, but in order to reach this goal, first, quantities and reasons of these issues must be determined with sufficient data. To find out quantity and degree of soil erosion problem in an area, 5 main factors (climate, soil properties, topographic conditions, vegetation cover and human interferences) affecting soil erosion must be investigated. However, when considering many sub-factors under these main factors, it becomes very clear that determining soil erosion especially in the field is very difficult because it is both a time consuming and a costly process. Therefore, efforts on estimating and predicting soil erosion of an area have shifted towards using computers and GIS (Geographic Information System) technologies, which was first started with USLE (Universal Soil Loss Equation) and then evolved into recently developed several erosion prediction models including RUSLE (Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation), WARSEM (Washington Road Surface Erosion Model) and WEPP (Water Erosion Prediction Project). However, the number of scientific studies where such models and techniques are applied in Turkey is very limited. One of the areas where these models are often applied is the large dam reservoirs because to determine the data of annual average sediment amounts in a timely and reliable way is important for such reservoirs especially in respect to both their operating life for producing electricity and determining potential problem areas in reservoir watersheds for implementing necessary precautions. Due to the planning of several large dams on it, the Coruh River Valley consists of many example areas, including the research area of this study, the Borcka Dam Watershed, where mentioned models can be used. The main aims of this study were; to determine the amounts of soil loss and sediment yield in a timely and reliable way using WEPP model and GIS techniques and thus initiating watershed-based studies on investigating soil loss phenomenon by applying an erosion prediction modelling within the Coruh River Watershed. Within the whole watershed, a total of 15 model sub-watersheds were selected by considering the features of parent material, land use, slope and aspect. A total of 480 undisturbed (cylinder) and 480 disturbed (composite) soil samples by taking 240 samples from each soil depth of 0 - 10 cm and 10 – 30 cm were collected. On these soil samples, some physical, hydro-physical and chemical properties including texture, bulk density, permeability, water holding capacity, pH and organic matter content were analyzed. The results showed that annual total sediment amount for a 86576.83 ha Borcka Reservoir Watershed was 360431.70 tons, while the total sediment yield was found to be 242.41 ton/ha/yr. In addition, 4.16 ton/ha/yr of sediment was produced per unit area. In addition, the analyzed soil properties were compared based on chosen model sub-watersheds, parent material, land use and soil depth and it was determined that most of these comparisons showed statistically significant differences. The results gathered from this study may be an important example to be used for other large dam projects planned in the Coruh River Watershed. Bu boşluk iki aralık olacaktır.

Son yıllarda yoğunlukla başvurulan yatırımların başında ülkemizdeki akarsu­ların üzerine büyük barajların kurulması gelmektedir ve bu durum özellikle mevcut arazi kullanımında önemli değişimlere neden olmaktadır. Başta enerji açığının kapatılması, taşkın kontrolü ve su ihtiyacının karşılanması amaçları­na yönelik inşa edilen bu barajlar, aynı zamanda, tarım alanlarının daralması, sedimantasyon, ekosistemlerin tahribatı ve insanların zorunlu göçleri gibi bir­çok sorunu da beraberinde getirirler. Özellikle barajların inşası ve su tutmaya başlaması aşamalarında mevcut arazi kullanımında meydana gelen/gelecek değişimlerin kısa sürede, güvenilir bir doğrulukla ve en az maliyetle tahmin edilmesi önemlidir. This study was carried out to investigate changes on soil properties associated with soil depth in eroded areas under semi-arid climate conditions. Pamukcular Watershed (Yusufeli-Artvin-Turkey), with total annual rain amount of 250- 400 mm and alluvial soils formed especially by sudden floods, was chosen as the study area. Due to poor vegetation cover, continuous surface erosion was observed for most of the year in the research area, leading us to predict that negative changes may have occurred in soil physical and chemical properties. In order to determine these changes, disturbed and undisturbed soil samples were taken at two depths (0-10 ve 10-20 cm) in 12 parcels with about 3% slope. When soil samples were taken, it was observed that vegetation cover rate was low (20%-30%). The results show that clay content, moisture, aggregate stability, pH, bulk density and dispersion rate of soils was significantly different between soil depths. However, silt, sand, lime and organic matter contents along with air and hydraulic conductivity did not show significant differences.

Üzerinde büyük baraj projelerinin planlandığı Çoruh Nehri Havzası (ÇNH) söz konusu modelleme tekniklerinin uygulanabileceği çok sayıda örnek alan içermektedir ki bunlardan biri olan Borçka Barajı Havzası bu araştırmada çalışma alanı olarak seçilmiştir.Bu çalışmanın ana amaçları; havzada oluşan toprak kaybı ve sediment verimi miktarlarının WEPP modeli ve CBS teknikleri kullanılarak kısa sürede ve az masrafla hesaplanması ve böylece Çoruh Nehri Havzası'nda bir erozyon tahmin modellemesi uygulayarak toprak erozyonu olgusunun havza bazında irdelenmesi çalışmalarının başlatılması olarak belirlenmiştir.Yağış havzasında ana kaya, arazi kullanımı, eğim ve bakı faktörleri dikkate alınarak 15 model havza seçilmiştir. Seçilen bu model havzaların tamamından 240 adeti 0-10 cm, ve 240 adeti 10-30 cm derinlik kademesinden olmak üzere toplam 480 adet bozulmuş (poşet), 480 adet de bozulmamış (silindir) toprak örneği alınmıştır. Alınan örnekler üzerinde tekstür, hacim ağırlığı, geçirgenlik, su tutma kapasitesi, toprak reaksiyonu, organik madde içeriği gibi bazı fiziksel, hidro-fiziksel ve kimyasal analizler yapılmıştır.Çalışma sonucunda, 86576.83 ha'lık bir alana sahip olan Borçka Barajı Havzası'nda yıllık toplam sediment miktarı 360431.70 ton, yıllık ortalama sediment miktarı ise havza genelinde toplam 242.41 ton/ha/yıl olarak bulunmuştur. Birim alandan (ha bazında) ise yılda 4.16 ton sediment verimi gerçekleştiği hesaplanmıştır. Ayrıca, analizi yapılan toprak özellikleri seçilen model havzalar, ana kaya gurubu, arazi kullanımı ve toprak derinliği bakımından karşılaştırılmış ve karşılaştırmaların önemli kısmının istatistiksel anlamda farklılık gösterdiği belirlenmiştir.Bu çalışma sonucunda elde edilen veriler Çoruh Nehri Havzasında planlanan diğer baraj projeleri için de benzer modellerin uygulanabilmesi açısından önemli bir örnek teşkil edecektir.Anahtar Kelimeler : Borçka Barajı Havzası, Toprak kaybı, Yüzeysel akış, Sediment verimi, CBS, WEPP (Water Erosion Prediction Project). For many years, excessive and inappropriate uses of natural resources have caused the fragile balance between soil, water and plant to be broken; thus, the problems including accelerated soil erosion, increase in flooding events and sedimentation have reached a serious level. Necessary precautions should be taken against these problems, but in order to reach this goal, first, quantities and reasons of these issues must be determined with sufficient data.To find out quantity and degree of soil erosion problem in an area, 5 main factors (climate, soil properties, topographic conditions, vegetation cover and human interferences) affecting soil erosion must be investigated. However, when considering many sub-factors under these main factors, it becomes very clear that determining soil erosion especially in the field is very difficult because it is both a time consuming and a costly process. Therefore, efforts on estimating and predicting soil erosion of an area have shifted towards using computers and GIS (Geographic Information System) technologies, which was first started with USLE (Universal Soil Loss Equation) and then evolved into recently developed several erosion prediction models including RUSLE (Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation), WARSEM (Washington Road Surface Erosion Model) and WEPP (Water Erosion Prediction Project). However, the number of scientific studies where such models and techniques are applied in Turkey is very limited. One of the areas where these models are often applied is the large dam reservoirs because to determine the data of annual average sediment amounts in a timely and reliable way is important for such reservoirs especially in respect to both their operating life for producing electricity and determining potential problem areas in reservoir watersheds for implementing necessary precautions. Due to the planning of several large dams on it, the Coruh River Valley consists of many example areas, including the research area of this study, the Borcka Dam Watershed, where mentioned models can be used.The main aims of this study were; to determine the amounts of soil loss and sediment yield in a timely and reliable way using WEPP model and GIS techniques and thus initiating watershed-based studies on investigating soil loss phenomenon by applying an erosion prediction modelling within the Coruh River Watershed. Within the whole watershed, a total of 15 model sub-watersheds were selected by considering the features of parent material, land use, slope and aspect. A total of 480 undisturbed (cylinder) and 480 disturbed (composite) soil samples by taking 240 samples from each soil depth of 0 - 10 cm and 10 – 30 cm were collected. On these soil samples, some physical, hydro-physical and chemical properties including texture, bulk density, permeability, water holding capacity, pH and organic matter content were analyzed.The results showed that annual total sediment amount for a 86576.83 ha Borcka Reservoir Watershed was 360431.70 tons, while the total sediment yield was found to be 242.41 ton/ha/yr. In addition, 4.16 ton/ha/yr of sediment was produced per unit area. In addition, the analyzed soil properties were compared based on chosen model sub-watersheds, parent material, land use and soil depth and it was determined that most of these comparisons showed statistically significant differences. Ülkemizin enerjideki dışa bağımlılığını azaltmanın yanında içme-kullanma suyu ve taşkın kontrolü gibi ana amaçları ile son yıllarda daha da artan sayıda başvurulan yatırımların başında gelen büyük barajlar, arazi kullanım değişimleri, tarım alanlarının daralması, sedimantasyon, ekosistemlerin tahribatı ve insanların zorunlu göçleri gibi birçok sorunu da beraberinde getirmektedir. Ayrıca, barajların öncelikle üzerinde yapıldıkları havzayı, akarsu sistemini ve yakın çevresini hem fiziksel açıdan hem de yerine getirdiği doğal işlevleri bakımından ciddi boyutlarda değiştirdiği de bir gerçektir. Benzer değişikliklerin yaşandığı havzalardan biri de DSİ Çoruh Barajlar Projesinin gerçekleştirildiği Çoruh Nehri Havzası’dır. Bu proje kapsamında planlanan toplam 15 büyük barajdan 7’si Çoruh Nehri’nin Artvin sınırları içerisindeki ana ve yan kolları üzerindedir. Bu barajların inşaatı ve bağlantılı olarak yol ağının yenilenmesi ile Çoruh Nehri ve Vadisi üzerinde özellikle arazi kullanımında önemli değişimlerin ve alandaki ekosistem üzerinde de ciddi tahribatların meydana geldiği gözlemlenmektedir. Söz konusu bu değişimlerin ve tahribatların bilimsel olarak irdelenmesi ve sağlıklı verilerin elde edilmesi amacı ile inşaatına başlanılan Artvin Barajı ve HES ile kısa zamanda inşaatına başlanılacak olan Yusufeli Barajı ve HES iki örnek baraj olarak seçilmiştir. Bu barajlar içerisinde yaklaşık 12124 kişi ve 3031 hanenin doğrudan etkileneceği, vadi boyunca yer alan su basar alanlardaki tarım alanlarının nerede ise tamamını kaybedecek olan Yusufeli Barajı büyük önem taşımaktadır. CBS teknikleri kullanılarak öncelikle bu barajların etki alanlarındaki (yaklaşık 1870 km2) mevcut arazi kullanım şekilleri belirlenmiş ve çalışma alanındaki idari sınırlar, havza sınırları, alt havzalar ve Sayısal Arazi Modeli (SAM) olmak üzere çok sayıda katman oluşturulmuştur. Bunların yanında, havzanın akarsu ağı, drenaj ve alt havzalarına ilişkin haritalar oluşturulmuş ve Sayısal Arazi Modeli kullanılarak bazı havza karakteristikleri ortaya konulmuştur. Çalışmanın bundan sonraki aşamaları ise her iki barajın tamamlanacağı ve su tutma sürecinin başlayacağı varsayımı ile rezervuar alanlarının sınırlarının ortaya konulması ile özellikle yeni yol yapım çalışmalarının neden olduğu/olacağı arazi tahribatının alansal büyüklüğünün belirlenmesi olacaktır. Böylece daha önce üretilen katmanlarla çakıştırıldığında çalışma alanında meydana gelecek arazi kullanım değişimi tespit edilmiş olacaktır. Belirlenecek veriler yardımı ile üretilecek olan haritalar ve elde edilecek veriler, Çoruh Nehri boyunca yapılması planlanan diğer büyük barajlar için önemli bir altlık oluşturacaktır. Lately, large dams have been one of the most referenced development projects mainly for the purposes of drinking and potable water, flood control and reducing the Turkey’s energy dependency on foreign resources. However, they also bring along some issues including land use change, reducing arable lands, sedimentation, destruction of ecosystems, and forced migration of people. Moreover, it is a fact that large dams, beside river ecosystems and its close environment, first of all, severely change the watershed they are to be constructed on, both physically and in terms of its natural functions. The Coruh River Watershed where the DSI’s Coruh Dams Project has been carried out is one of many watersheds experiencing similar changes mentioned above. Seven of fifteen large dams planned for this Project are on the Coruh River’s main and tributary channels flowing within the boundary of Artvin. Important negative changes have been observed in the area especially in respect to land use and severe destructions on ecosystems due to the construction of the dam projects and the renewing of road network. In order to make scientific evaluation about these changes and destructions and obtaining reliable data, two dams, one (the Artvin Dam and HPP) is already being constructed and the other (the Yusufeli Dam and HPP) is in the beginning of its construction stage, were chosen as case studies. Out of these two dams, the Yusufeli Dam is considered as more important since about 12124 people and 3031 homes are going to be affected directly by this dam as well as almost all arable lands along the floodplains of the valley are going to be lost. Using GIS techniques, first of all, the present land use types within the area (close to 1870 km2) impacted by the dams were identified and many layers including administrative and watershed boundaries, sub-watersheds, and digital terrain model (DTM) of the study area were created. In addition, the maps showing river network of the watershed and drainage and sub-watersheds were also prepared and using DTM, some characteristics of the watershed were obtained. The next step of this study -with the assumption that construction of both dams are completed and inundation is started- is to find out boundaries of the reservoir areas and determine spatial size of land degradation that have been and/or will be caused especially by building new road system. Then, when previously created maps were overlapped, the projected land use change in the study area will be determined. The data obtained and the maps created from this study will be a very important base for the other large dams planned to be constructed along the Coruh River.

Son yıllarda ortaya çıkan enerji açığı ve enerjide dışa bağımlılık Türkiye’yi, aslında uygulaması gereken uzun vadeli enerji politikaları yerine, kısa vadede çabuk sonuç almayı hedefleyen yöntemler kullanmaya veya kullanılan mevcut yöntemin üretimdeki payını arttırmaya yönelik çalışmalara zorlamaktadır. Bu kapsamda, 2007 yılı elektrik üretiminde toplam payı %18,7 olan hidroelektrik santrallerin payının arttırılması ülkemizde son dönemde en çok başvurulan seçeneklerden biri olmaktadır. Bu nedenle, enerji açığının kapatılması konusunda son yıllarda hızla artan sayıda baraj ve nehir tipi hidroelektrik santral (HES) projeleri gündeme girmiştir. Bu çerçevede, Çoruh Nehri’nin ana ve yan kolları üzerinde planlanan ve yapımı süren 15 adet büyük baraja ek olarak 116 adet nehir tipi HES tesisinin yapımı gündeme gelmiştir. Ancak, arazi yapısının oldukça sarp ve eğiminin yüksek oluşu, bölgedeki orman, toprak ve su kaynaklarının ciddi şekilde zarar göreceği gerçeğini gözler önüne sermiştir. Nehir tipi HES tesislerinin, öncelikle üzerinde inşa edileceği akarsuyun su miktarında ve akım rejiminde değişimler yaratacağından, bu akarsularda yaşayan sucul canlıların (örn: balıklar, amfibiler, vb.) ve dere kenarı vejetasyonunun önemli derecede etkileneceği açıktır. Ayrıca, bu tesislerle beraber yapılacak olan yeni yol ve tüneller sonucu ortaya çıkan hafriyatın depo edilmesinde veya uzaklaştırılmasında sorunlar yaşandığı ve bunun toprak erozyonu ile beraber akarsu ve göletlerde sedimantasyona neden olduğu günümüzdeki örnekleri ile bilinmektedir. Bunun yanında, her bir HES ve buna bağlı yol ve tünel yapımının, özellikle ormanlık alanların parçalanmasına, böylece bölgede yaşayan yaban hayvanlarının yaşam alanlarının daralmasına yol açacağı da yüksek olasılıkla karşılaşılacağımız önemli bir sorun olacaktır. Yukarıda açıklanan ekolojik etkilere ilave olarak, HES projelerinin, yapıldıkları akarsu havzaları boyunca su kaynaklarına yakın yerlerde kurulan yerleşim alanlarında yaşayan yerel halk ile arazi ve su kullanımı açısından çeşitli sorunlar oluşturacağı da açıktır. Bunun yanında, ildeki kamu kurumları da bu tesislere izin verilmesi konusunda habersiz ve etkisiz kalmaktadırlar. Tüm bu çevresel ve sosyal olumsuz sonuçlara rağmen, çoklu HES tesislerinin yaratacağı etkilerin büyüklüğü, kapsamı ve en aza indirilmesi için gerekli önlemlerin alınması ile bağlantılı herhangi bir çalışma yapılmamaktadır. Buradan yola çıkarak, bu bildiride; sayıları son yıllarda artan çoklu HES projelerinin ekolojik ve sosyal açıdan oluşturduğu ve oluşturacağı sorunlar Artvin’deki örnekleri bağlamında irdelenecektir. Turkey, as one of the countries recently being affected by energy shortage, is in search for various solutions to close this gap. Out of several solution ideas, increasing the proportion of hydroelectric power, which is at %18,7 as of 2007 out of the whole energy production, has become one of the most applied. This, in turn, resulted in ever-increasing projects of building many large dams and run-of-river type hydroelectric power plants. In this regard, besides 15 large dams being planned to be built on the main channel of the Coruh River Watershed, one of many large basins of the Black Sea Region, there are also more than 116 run-of-rivertype hydroelectric power plants lawfully permitted to be constructed on the tributaries of the River. However, because of the steepness and the roughness of the terrain in the region, natural resources (e.g., forest, water and soil) have been damaged during construction works of these projects. Changes and derivations of the water regime of natural river channel, serious damages on riverine habitats (e.g. fish, amphibians) and riparian zone vegetation, accelerated soil erosion and sedimentation problems occurring in rivers and associated large dam reservoirs are some of negative outcomes resulted in by building regulators, roads, water transferring tunnels and energy generating structures. In addition, forest ecosystems are getting fragmented due to roads and tunnels, dividing a united system into many pieces; thus, creating a more fragile situation for forests for damaging effects of insects, snow and wind, runoff, or landslides. The other important result of the constructing so many of these power plants are their social outcomes. Besides the severe damage to nature in the proximity of the power plant construction areas, much of the water will be transferred to water-carrying tunnels from the main channel of the creeks when these plants start to operate. All these changes may cause conflicts between local people living in these watersheds for hundreds of years and the management of these plants especially over water usage. Finally, there is a confusion in respect to laws and regulations regarding these plants as the associated local government administrations (governors, directorates of regional forest and environments, universities, NGOs, etc.) almost do not have any saying on whether these power plants should be built in such unique and fragile ecosystems. Despite all these possible negative outcomes both on the ecological and social aspects, there are not any studies on the size and scope of the adverse effects caused by building so many power plants. In this article, the current and future ecological and social outcomes of the run-of-river type power plants permitted to be built in many rivers and creeks of Artvin were investigated.

In this study, the effects of visitor acitivities on topsoil hydrophysical properties in two protected areas in northern Bleacksea region were investigated. For this purpose, soil samples taken from study area that was characterized as heavily trafficked site (HTS), moderately trafficked sites (MTS) and control (non-trafficked site). The soil bulk density and soil penetration resistance increased from 1.02 to 1.39 g cm–3 and 0.66 to 1.55 MPa, respectively, saturated hydraulic conductivity decreased from 60.60 to 10.35 mm h–1 in moderately and heavily trafficked sites, respectively, at 0–10 cm soil depth in Ayder protected area. The soil bulk density and soil penetration resistance increased from 0.85 to 1.40 g cm–3 and 0.68 to 1.50 MPa, respectively, saturated hydraulic conductivity decreased from 58.75 to 10.35 mm h–1 in moderately and heavily trafficked sites, respectively, at 0–10 cm soil depth in Kafkasor protected area. The intensity of visitor activities had a negative impact on topsoil hydrophysical properties in the study area in Ayder and Kafkasor. The principles of management in Ayder and Kafkasor protected areas should be revised, and use of this area without a plan should be stopped as soon as possible.

Bu çalışmada; kurak bir iklimin görüldüğü ve erozyon etkilerinin (rüzgar-su) var olduğu Artvin- Pamukçular Havzası’nda yapılan ağaçlandırma çalışmalarının toprak özelliklerinde meydana getirmiş olduğu değişimler ortaya konmaya çalışılmış, ağaçlandırma çalışmalarının üst toprak özelliklerine etkisi araştırılmıştır. Bu amaçla iki farklı derinlik (0-10 cm ve 10-20 cm) kademesinden toplam 48 adet poşet (bozulmuş toprak örneği) ve yine her iki derinlik kademesinden 48 adet silindir (bozulmamış toprak örneği) örneği alınmıştır. Alınan toprak örneklerinde mekanik analiz (tekstür tayini), nem ekivalanı (tarla kapasitesi), solma noktası, faydalı su, geçirgenlik (permeabilite), hacim ağırlığı, tane yoğunluğu, gözenek hacmi (porozite), organik madde ve toprak reaksiyonu (pH) belirlenmiştir. Ağaçlandırma çalışmalarının toprak özelliklerine etkisi varyans analizi ile test edilmiştir. Bu çalışmanın sonucunda; Artvin İli Yusufeli İlçesi Pamukçular Havzası’nda yalancı akasya (Robinia pseudeoacacia L.) ile yapılan ağaçlandırma çalışmalarının toprağın fiziksel ve kimyasal özellikleri üzerinde olumlu yönde etkisi olduğu görülmüştür. Bu nedenle, benzer arazi ve iklim özelliklerine sahip kurak ve yarı kurak alanlardaki ağaçlandırma çalışmalarında yalancı akasya türünün kullanılmasının öncelikle toprak özellikleri üzerinde olumlu etkilerinin olacağı öngörülmektedir. In this study, effects of forestation efforts on surface soil characteristics were investigated in erosion- affected areas of Artvin’s Pamukcular Watershed where an arid climate and impacts of soil erosion (caused both by water and wind) are present. In order to implement this goal, total of 48 soil samples from two different sites, disturbed and undisturbed, were collected at the depths of 0 – 10 cm and 10 – 20 cm. Collected samples were analyzed for several soil parameters including texture, moisture equivalent (field capacity), wilting point, permeability, bulk density, particle (solid) density, porosity, organic matter, and pH. Variance analyses were then used to test the effects of forestation works on soil features mentioned above. As a result, the analyses showed that the black locusts (Robinia pseudeoacacia L.) planted in the areas of the forestation efforts in order to control soil erosion had positive effects on the physical and chemical features of the soil within the Watershed of Pamukcular in Yusufeli, Artvin. Therefore, the black locust used in this study may also be used in areas with similar topographic and climatic features.

Over the last century, the conversion of natural ecosystems to agricultural production is one of the primary factors in environmental degradation. As in most parts of the world, forest soils in the north- east of Turkey are being seriously degraded and destroyed due to extensive agricultural activities. This study investigated the effects of changes in land-use on some soil properties in Rize, Turkey. Two adjacent sites were studied: One had been converted 60 years previously from alder coppice to tea cultivation (TC); the other remained as alder coppice (AC). The experimental design at each site was a randomized complete block with four replications in the study area. Four disturbed and four undisturbed soil samples were taken randomly at soil depths of 0 -10 cm, 10 - 30 cm and 30 - 50 cm in each plot in the study area. When the alder coppice was converted into tea cultivation, the bulk density (Db) increased from 0.84 g cm-3 to 1.02 g cm-3, soil penetrometer resistance (SPR) increased from 0.94 to 1.27 MPa, the soil organic matter (SOM) decreased from 5.14 to 4.06%, saturated hydraulic conductivity (Ksat) decreased from 40.64 to 16.33 mm h-1 at 0 to 10 cm depth of soil. According to soil depth steps the mean PAW, St, Ksat, SOM and total N content decreased linearly in alder coppice (AC) and tea cultivation (TC). The results indicated that the change in land use and introduction of cultivation had a significant effect on soil properties.

Araştırma alanı, Türkiye'nin Doğu Karadeniz Bölgesi'nde Artvin'e yaklaşık 32 km. mesafede bulunan Saçinka Yöresi'ndeki Godrahav Deresi Havzasının sınırları içerisinde bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, Artvin-Saçinka yöresi, Godrahav Deresi Yağış Havzası sınırları içerisinde bulunan orman ve hemen bitişiğindeki ormandan dönüştürülen otlak alanlarında toprakların bazı fiziksel, hidro-fiziksel ve kimyasal özellikleri ile aşınım eğilimlerinin arazi kullanım şekline, yükselti kademelerine ve derinlik kademelerine göre göstermiş oldukları farklılıklar araştırılmıştır. Bu amaçla, araştırma alanını temsil edecek şekilde iki farklı arazi kullanım şeklinden (orman, otlak) ve iki farklı yükseklik kademesinden (700?950, 950?1200) toprak örnekleri alınmıştır. Her bir farklı yükseklik kademesinden 24'er, her iki derinlik kademesinden (0?10 cm, 10?20 cm) de 24'er olmak üzere hem orman (bozulmamış) ve hem de otlak alanlardan (bozulmuş) toplam 96 adet toprak örneği alınmıştır. Araştırma alanından alınan bu toprak özellikleri üzerinde; tekstür, toprak fraksiyonları, su tutma kapasitesi, geçirgenlik, nem sabitleri, hacim ağırlığı, tane yoğunluğu, gözenek hacmi, organik madde, pH, erozyon eğilimleri gibi 19 adet toprak özelliği analiz edilmiştir. Toprak özellikleri arazi kullanım şekline, yükselti kademelerine ve derinlik katmanlarına göre korelasyon ve varyans analizi yöntemleriyle karşılaştırılmış, farklılıklar ve ilişkiler araştırılmıştır. Araştırma sahası toprak özelliklerinin arazi kullanım şekline göre istatistiksel anlamda önemli farklılık gösterdiği belirlenmiş, her üç aşınım eğilimi indeksine göre de araştırma alanı toprakları sınır değerlerden büyük çıkarak erozyona karşı duyarlı bulunmuşlardır.Anahtar Kelimeler: Toprak erodibilitesi, arazi kullanım şekli, fiziksel ve hidrofiziksel toprak özellikleri. The study area chosen for this research is the Godrahav Watershed in Sacinka district, approximately 32 kilometers away from Artvin, located in the Eastern Black Sea Region of Turkey. In this study, the differences arisen on some physical, hydro-physical and chemical parameters of undisturbed and disturbed soils and their erodibility in areas of both the forest and the neighboring grasslands -converted from forest- within the watershed of Godrahav Stream in Sacinka district of Artvin were investigated in respect to current land use type, altitude and soil depth. For this purposes, total of 96 soil samples ? 24 samples from each altitude level (700-950 m and 950-1200 m) and each depth level (0-10 cm and 10-20 cm) for each of the two land use types (forestland, grassland) were taken in order to represent the whole study area. These samples were analyzed for a total of nineteen soil parameters including texture, soil fractions, water holding capacity, permeability, soil moisture constants, bulk density, particle density, soil porosity, organic matter, pH, dispersion ratio, colloid/moisture equivalent ratio and erosion ratio. Differences and relations among these properties were statistically examined using analysis of variance and correlation analyses. It was determined that most of the soil characteristics analyzed were significantly different between land use types in the study area. Kentlerde yaşayan insanlar bir taraftan çevresinde bulunan doğal alanlarda çeşitli rekreaktif aktivitelerle doğaya olan özlemini gidermeye çalışırken, diğer taraftan da kenti daha yaşanabilir mekânlara dönüştürebilmek için kent içi ve yakın çevresinde kaybolan doğal alanları yeniden kazanma çabasına girmiştir. Kent ağaçları ve kent ormanları, günümüz koşulları dikkate alındığı zaman kent halkı için rekreatif hizmetler vermenin yanı sıra estetik, sağlık (temiz hava, bol oksijen), psikolojik, ekonomik ve ekolojik katkılar sağlaması nedeniyle kentlerimiz için zorunlu tesisler haline gelmiştir. Bu çalışmada, kent ormanlarının rekreasyonel durumları incelenerek Artvin İlindeki Kafkasör Kent Ormanı alanının mevcut potansiyelinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmış ve bu amaçla Gülez yöntemine göre Artvin Kent Ormanının rekreasyonel değeri belirlenmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda, alanın rekreasyonel potansiyel bakımından % 66.9 ile yüksek potansiyele sahip olduğu, bu yüksek potansiyeli etkileyen en önemli etmenlerin alanın peyzaj özellikleri ve sağladığı rekreatif kolaylıklar olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Urban people not only attempt to satisfy their hunger for nature by performing some recreational activities in natural areas in their proximities but also they challenge to regain disappeared natural areas in and around their cities in order to make residential areas more liveable. When considered the conditions today, urban trees and forests have turned out to be obligatory facilities for urban people since they provide not only recreational services but also contributions to city aesthetics, public health (with clean air and oxygen supply), human psychology, city and national economy and urban ecology. In this study, it was aimed to determine the existent recreational potentials of Kafkasör urban forest in Artvin city by evaluating the recreational conditions of urban forests. For this aim, recreational value of Artvin Urban Forest tried to be calculated according to Gülez’s method in order to determine existent potentials of recreational areas. As the result of the study, it was found that recreational potential rate of the area was 66.9 %, which shows the area has high recreational potential. The most important factor affecting this high potential was found to be the landscape characteristics the area has and recreational facilities the area provides.

Bu araştırma Artvin ili Borçka ilçesindeki Deviskel Deresi Havzası'nda farklı arazi kullanım şekilleri, farklı yükselti basamağı ve eğim grubunda bulunan toprakların bazı fiziksel ve hidro-fiziksel özelliklerindeki değişimlerin ortaya konulması amacıyla yürütülmüştür. Bu amaçla her arazi kullanımında (tarım, orman ve mera) dört yükselti basamağını (100-600 m, 600-1200 m, 1200-1800 m, >1800 m) ve üç farklı eğim grubunu (% 0-12, % 12-30, >% 30) içerecek şekilde örnek noktaları alınmıştır. Belirlenen alanlardaki 108 farklı noktada (36 adet orman, 36 adet tarım, 36 adet mera alanından), iki derinlik kademesinden (0-10 cm ve 10-20 cm) toplam 216 adet bozulmuş, 216 adet bozulmamış silindir örneği alınmıştır. Araziden alınan topraklar üzerinde; tekstür (kum, kil, toz miktarı), toprak fraksiyonları (kaba kısım, ince kısım) ve kök içeriği, su tutma kapasitesi, permeabilite, toprak nemi sabitleri, hacim ağırlığı, tane yoğunluğu, porozite, organik madde içeriği, toprak tepkimesi (pH), elektriksel iletkenlik, dispersiyon oranı, kolloid/nem ekivalanı oranı, aşınım oranı, kil oranı ve agregat stabilitesi olmak üzere toplam 22 analiz yapılmıştır. Tespit edilen bu özellikler arazi kullanımı, yükselti basamağı, eğim grubu ve derinlik kademelerine göre istatistiksel yöntemlerle karşılaştırılarak (varyans analizi) farklılıklar araştırılmıştır. Ortalamalar arası farklılıklar ise Duncan çoklu karşılaştırma testi ile belirlenmiştir. Bu analizler sonucunda araştırma sahasında incelenen toprak özelliklerinin arazi kullanım şekli ve yükselti faktörüne göre 15'inin, eğim faktörüne göre 2'sinin, derinlik kademesine göre ise 3'ünün istatistiksel olarak farklılık gösterdiği belirlenmiştir. Aşınım eğilimlerine göre de tüm havza toprakları erozyona duyarlı bulunmuştur. This study was carried out to determine the changes in some physical and hydro-physical properties of soils in different land use patterns, different elevation ranges and slopes in Deviskel Basin in Borcka district of Artvin province. For this purpose, in each land use (agriculture, forest and grassland), four elevation ranges (100-600 m, 600-1200 m, 1200-1800 m,> 1800 m) and three different slope groups (% 0-12, % 12-30) ,> % 30). A total of 216 sachets (degraded soil sample), 216 cylinders (undisturbed soil) from two depth levels of 0-10 cm and 10-20 cm at 108 different points (36 forests, 36 agriculture, 36 pasture areas) in the designated areas example). On the samples taken from the land; texture (amount of sand, clay, dust), `soil fractions, water holding capacity, permeability, soil moisture constants, bulk density, particle density, soil porosity, organic matter, pH, electrical conductivity, dispersion ratio, colloid/moisture equivalent ratio, erosion ratio`, clay ratio and aggregate stability were analyzed. Soil characteristics were compared by using variance analysis methods according to land use type, elevation step, slope group and depth levels. Differences between means were determined by Duncan multiple comparison test. As a result of these analyzes, it was determined that the soil characteristics examined at the research area showed significant difference statistically from 15 according to land use and elevation factor, 2 according to slope factor and 3 according to depth level. According to erodibility index values, all watershed soils have been found to be susceptible to erosion. 84

This manuscript reports on four new jellyfish species in the Sea of Marmara (Turkey) (the scyphozoans Mawia benovici and Drymonema dalmatinum, hydrozoan Aequorea forskalea, and thaliacean Salpa maxima) based on plankton collections made in the years 2019–2021. This is the first record of Mawia benovici in both Turkish coastal areas and the Sea of Marmara. The jellyfish that was previously re-corded as Drymonema sp. in the repetition Sea of Marmara was identified at the species level as D. dalmatinum. Furthermore, their possible introduction pathways are briefly discussed here

Devlet Su İşleri’nin (DSİ) halen devam eden “Çoruh Barajlar Projesi” kapsamında planlanan çok sayıda büyük baraj ve HES tesisinin inşası, Çoruh Nehri Havzası (ÇNH) üzerinde arazi kayıpları ve bozulmaları gibi ciddi değişimlere neden olmaktadır ancak bu değişimleri bilimsel olarak ortaya koyan veri miktarı ise oldukça kısıtlıdır. Bu nedenle, hem barajların tamamlanarak su tutmaya başlaması hem de söz konusu baraj projeleri kapsamında yenilenen yolların inşaatları aşamalarında farklı amaçlarla kullanılan arazilerde meydana gelen/gelecek kayıpların/bozulmaların kısa sürede, güvenilir bir doğrulukla ve en az maliyetle tahmin edilmesi önemlidir. Böylece, akarsu yatağı boyunca havzalarda oluşabilecek bazı ciddi olumsuzlukların önceden bilinmesi ve sonrasında da bu havzaların yeniden planlanması sağlanabilir. Bu çalışmada, Çoruh Nehri'nin Artvin il sınırları içerisinde farklı aşamalarda olan (tamamlanan, inşası devam eden veya planlanan) 7 büyük baraj ve HES tesisi ile bağlantılı yol inşaatlarının neden olduğu/olacağı arazi kayıpları ve tahribatlarının saptanması amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla, Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemleri (CBS) yardımı ile meşcere ve CORINE arazi örtüsü (CLC-2006) haritaları ile beraber tamamlanan bazı barajlardaki kamulaştırma verilerinden yararlanarak hem söz konusu barajlardan dolayı sular altında kalacak hem de yol inşaatları nedeni ile tahrip olacak arazilerin kullanım şekilleri ve alansal büyüklükleri ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda barajların tümünün tamamlandığı varsayıldığında, farklı amaçlarla kullanılan yaklaşık 8137 ha alanın sular altında kalarak işlevlerini yitireceği tespit edilmiştir. Tüm bu alan içerisinde en büyük oranın orman (meşcere haritalarına göre %62; CLC-2006 arazi örtüsüne göre %52) niteliğindeki araziler, en küçük oranın ise yerleşim yeri (meşcere haritalarına göre %0.77, CLC-2006 arazi örtüsüne göre %1.77) niteliğindeki araziler olduğu belirlenmiştir. Bunlara ilaveten Borçka, Deriner ve Artvin Barajlarından elde edilen istimlak/kamulaştırma (kadastro parselleri) verileri ile bu çalışmada kullanılan meşcere ve CLC-2006 haritalarından elde edilen veriler karşılaştırılmış ve iki veri kaynağı arasında farklılıklar olduğu görülmüştür. Ayrıca, Borçka ve Deriner Barajları nedeni ile yan yollar ve köy yolları dışında kalan ana yolların (tünel yapıları hariç) inşaatları sırasında ortaya çıkan hafriyatın gelişigüzel bir şekilde şevlerden aşağı atılması sonucunda tahrip olan arazi miktarının ise yaklaşık 413 ha civarında olduğu tahmin edilmiştir. The Coruh Dams Project, an ongoing project planned by the State Water Affairs, involving several large dams and associated roads to be constructed along the Coruh River Valley, has been causing serious changes including land loss and degradation within the Valley, but the data on scientific estimations of such changes is very limited. Therefore, it is crucial to estimate areal amount of land loss and degradation due to both inundation of reservoir areas and improper road constructions with an easy and costeffective ways in order to realize the changes expected in the watershed before these projects are completed so that planning of watersheds can be initiated timely. In this study, the aim was to determine areal land loss and degradation caused by seven large dams at different stages (e.g. completed, under-construction or planned) and associated road constructions on the Middle and Lower Coruh Watershed within the city of Artvin. In order to find out the land use types and estimate areal sizes of lands inundated/damaged by these dams and improper road constructions, “forestry stand maps” and “CORINE Land Cover (CLC-2006)” along with data gathered from the processes of “compulsory purchases” for some of the completed dams were used. Estimates showed that when all the large dams are completed, according to two maps used in this research, approximately 8137 ha area with various land use types will be inundated and consequently lost. It was clearly seen that out of this total area the biggest ratio was forested lands (62% according to the forest stand maps; 52% according to the CLC-2006) while the smallest ratio belonged to establishments (0.77% according to the forest stand maps; 1.77% according to the CLC-2006). In addition, when comparing the estimates from the forest stand maps and the CLC-2006 with the estimates calculated from the processes of compulsory purchases for Borcka, Deriner and Artvin Dams, it was determined that both maps did not revealed results that were close to the actual measurements gathered from the data of the compulsory purchases. In addition, it was estimated that approximately 413 ha of land was damaged due to improper road constructions where large amount of excavated materials was thrown down the very steep fill slope during the constructions of new roads (tunnel constructions were excluded) only for Borcka and Deriner dams
