Perinatal depression (PD) affects individuals during pregnancy and early parenthood, resembling major depression. Recent research highlights paternal perinatal depression (PPD) in fathers. PPD has adverse effects on fathers and their children. This study assesses the Turkish version of the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) for Turkish fathers, aiming to provide a tool for PPD identification. This methodological study validates the EPDS for Turkish fathers and explores associations with demographic and psychosocial factors. The study involved 295 fathers with infants aged 2 weeks to 12 months. The EPDS, originally designed for perinatal depression and validated in Turkish women, was used. Fathers completed a participant information questionnaire, the EPDS, and the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) during clinic visits. Data on sociodemographic factors, paternal roles, and pregnancy and postpartum support were collected. Mothers also completed the EPDS. Descriptive statistics, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and correlation tests were used. The study included fathers with an average age of 30.5 years, mostly with a high school education or higher. The EPDS had a mean total score of 3.1. Factor analysis suggested a three-factor structure for the EPDS in Turkish fathers, including anhedonia, anxiety, and depression. Confirmatory factor analysis validated the three-factor structure, with acceptable model fit indices. Positive correlations were found between fathers' EPDS scores, maternal EPDS scores, and paternal BDI scores. The EPDS effectively discriminated between different levels of depression severity. Various factors, such as education level and lack of support during pregnancy and after childbirth, were associated with higher EPDS scores. These findings emphasize the significance of assessing and addressing PPD in fathers, supporting the use of the EPDS as a valid tool in the Turkish context. The three-factor structure aligns with international research, highlighting the importance of a multi-dimensional approach to PPD assessment. In a world with growing environmental and energy concerns, effective energy use is crucial. Since our country largely imports natural gas, efficient usage is vital for the national economy. Accurate consumption estimates will enhance investment efficiency, optimize gas purchase agreements, and minimize economic losses from excess supply, thereby balancing future supply and demand. In this study, natural gas consumption data of Kayseri province on a monthly basis between the years 2015-2022, obtained from Republic of Türkiye Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK), was used, and a consumption estimate was made for the year 2023. Auto Regressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA -Box-Jenkins), Gray Prediction and Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) methods, which are widely accepted in the literature, were used as forecasting methods. The methods used were compared in terms of Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE), Mean Absolute Error (MAE), Mean Squared Error (MSE), Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) and R² error performance measures, and it was seen that the multiplicative decomposition based grey GM( 1,1) model, which gave the most successful result with an R² value of 0.926, was suitable for estimation. With the appropriate multiplicative decomposition based GM(1,1) model, monthly natural gas consumption estimation of Kayseri province was made for the year 2023. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: This study aimed to assess the association between women's platelet indices and bone mineral density to evaluate osteoporosis, which has a significant impact on quality of life throughout the postmenopausal age. Materials and Methods: The study was retrospectively designed, and data from 316 postmenopausal patients who applied to the obstetrics and gynecology outpatient clinic between January 2021 and January 2023, underwent bone mineral density measurements during follow-up, and met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were obtained. The data were evaluated in 3 groups as normal, osteopenia, and osteoporosis according to bone mineral density. Platelet indices, age, body mass index (BMI), and bone mineral density were compared with platelet indices in the hemogram results of the patients on the same day. Results: The mean ages of the osteoporosis, osteopenia, and normal groups were 61.4, 58.4, and 56.2 years, respectively. The mean weight was 72.9 kg in the osteoporosis group, 74.09 kg in the osteopenia group, and 79.4 kg in the normal group. When the groups were compared, no significant difference was observed between age, platelet count, platelet distribution width, mean platelet volume (MPV), platelet-large cell ratio, and thrombocytocrit but a significant difference was found between the osteoporosis and normal groups in terms of BMI (p=0.027). Conclusion: Although numerous studies in the literature have demonstrated a connection between osteoporosis and MPV and platelet count, our investigation revealed no such association and showed that the risk of osteoporosis decreased as BMI increased. Introduction: Today's labor market is comprised of different generations and in the near future, the majority of it will consist of Generation Z. In this respect, it is of great importance to know the perspective of Generation Z, which will take its place in leadership positions in organizations, on leadership and what kind of leader they will be. The present study probes to investigate how Generation Z will become a leader and their perspective on leadership. In this regard, the study aims to offer suggestions and guidance to the literature and organizations by providing information on what kind of leaders they will be as well as knowing the characteristics of Generation Z leaders. Methods: In the study conducted Generation Z, employed in the IT sector, semi-structured interviews were held with 13 participants. While analyzing the data obtained from the interviews, the MAXQDA 2020 program was utilized and the thematic analysis method was applied. Results: In our findings about how Generation Z will be leaders in the future, two themes were identified, which include intra-organizational communication and working conditions. In the light of findings on the leadership of Generation Z, the sub-themes of being supportive, empathetic, egoless, managing people well and managing with love and respect were reached on the theme of intraorganizational communication. On the other hand, on the theme of working conditions, sub-themes such as providing training, offering payment according to output, preferring flexible working hours, being friendly, assigning appropriate work to the employee, being fun and not giving importance to gender were identified. Discussion: The results revealed that Generation Z prefers managing their team with a people-oriented approach when they take leadership positions. From their perspective, the leader should understand and value his employees. Leaders who know the expectations of Generation Z will contribute to their organizations. In addition, organizations should improve their leadership skills by providing leadership training for Generation Z, who will be leaders in the future. With the increase in cesarean section rates, uterine rupture, one of the obstetric emergencies, has become an important clinical condition leading to maternal--fetal mortality and morbidity. According to risk factors for uterine rupture, it can be classified as rupture of a previous scar (cesarean section, myomectomy), traumatic rupture of the uterus (resulting from trauma), spontaneous rupture of the uterus due to underlying pathologies (uterine anomalies, multiparity), and spontaneous uterine rupture in apparently normal primigravida patients. Among these, uterine rupture due to a scarred uterus is the most commonly seen. Currently, optimal cutoff values for predicting uterine scar rupture have not been definitively established. A 35-year-old pregnant woman, gravida 3, parity 2, with a history of 2 previous cesarean sections, was seen during a routine outpatient clinic visit when she was 23 weeks and 2 days pregnant based on her last menstrual period. During the visit, approximately a 5 cm area of amniotic fluid protruding toward the bladder was observed along the old incision line, suggesting a disruption in the continuity of the myometrium at the scar site. Preoperative preparations were made, and the patient was taken for a cesarean section. Interestingly, there was no apparent evidence of dehiscence, which is commonly seen in many patients who have had previous cesarean sections. In this study, we introduce a radar sensor that we have developed for the micro‐Doppler signature measurements together with three consecutive signal preprocessing routines that are to be used for primary detection and classification of human gait and movements. The developed C‐band radar sensor has been used in a series of human walking and running experiments that were conducted at Mersin University facilities. First, the raw data collected in time domain are transformed to two‐dimensional (2D) time‐frequency plane to investigate the Doppler characteristics of human movements. To detect and extract the main body signature of the human, a Kalman filter‐based torso signature detection methodology is introduced as the first preprocessing tool. Then, to be able to better detect the other body parts' signatures, the torso's response is thoroughly extracted from the 2D time‐Doppler image as the second preprocessing routine by applying a circular shift procedure along each time‐bin. As the last procedure, envelopes of the micro‐Doppler signatures on the 2D time‐Doppler image plane are determined by another routine based on human Doppler threshold method. To assess the success and the validity of the proposed pre‐signal processing tools, they are applied to the measured data collected via different experiments of human movements. After applying all these steps, the torso signature and envelopes of all other body parts' signatures are marked and determined with good fidelity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this study, a high-gain and dual-polarized Quad Ridged Horn Antenna (QRHA) is proposed and designed to be used in Obstacle Penetrating Imaging Radar (OPIR) applications. The quad ridged design is developed and then optimized by using the antenna design simulator software; CST Microwave Studio. The antenna parameters including the center frequency, frequency bandwidth and the antenna radiation pattern beam width are considered based on the requirements of OPIR applications. The final design is obtained for the center frequency of 2.785 GHz with a -10 dB bandwidth of at least 2.5 GHz. The final designed QRHA is able to provide a gain of 12.4 dB with a beam width of 36° at the center frequency of 2.785 GHz. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aims to explore graduate science education students’ views of elementary science teachers’ TPACK competencies by employing a Delphi technique. 9 graduate science education students enrolled in a graduate course participated in the study. In the first round, participants were asked to list the competencies of an elementary science teacher with high level of TPACK and a total of 88 competencies were listed. In the second round, all participants investigated these competencies and eliminated the similar ones. In the third round, the number of competencies was narrowed down to 35 and participants rated them on a 7-point Likert type scale. In the fourth round, participants investigated the interquartile range and median values for those competencies, their own previous ratings and rated the competencies again. At the end, a total of 29 competencies were agreed on by all participants. For agreement criteria interquartile range and median values were used.
