Abstract

The concept of identity is related to the way of identifying and promoting oneself, both on an individual and collective level. Clothing and music as visual and auditory symbols are recognised as important elements of identification and identification processes. When the researches are analysed, it is found that music preferences and clothing styles strengthen belonging to social groups and help individuals to express themselves. It is also seen that the researches analysing the relationship between music and fashion on a sectoral basis examine the concept of social identity. On the other hand, it has been observed that there are few studies in which music and clothing styles are directly analysed together on the basis of social identity. On this basis, the aim of this research is to reveal whether there is a relationship between the types of music that individuals listen to and the clothing styles they prefer on the basis of social identity. Today, both music and clothing production appear as two separate sectors and the impact of the production of these sectors on each other is an issue that needs to be emphasised. This research is important in terms of aiming to reach findings that will serve both sectors. Within the scope of quantitative and qualitative (mixed) research, semi-structured and unstructured (conversational) interview techniques were used. Quantitative findings were statistically analysed and qualitative findings were interpreted by interpreting the answers given in the interviews. As a result of the research, no significant similarities were found between the music genres that the participants listen to and the clothing styles they prefer in their daily lives. However, it was determined that the participants exhibited an attitude towards adopting a common clothing style in events such as concerts and concerts where they revealed their social identities shaped on the basis of music genre.

5. Patterns of proliferation and fibrosis in a rat model of endometriosis following administration of Allium cepa.

Abstract

Objective: Endometriosis is a common gynecological disease among reproductive-age women. Numerous hypotheses exist regarding the pathogenesis of endometriosis. In Turkey, the consumption of Allium cepa (commonly known as the "onion cure") is a popular treatment employed to alleviate a variety of gynecological disorders. Methods: In this study, our objective was to assess the therapeutic mechanisms of the onion bulb A. cepa using an autologous endometriosis model in Sprague-Dawley rats. Previous research has shown that A. cepa possesses anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antiapoptotic properties. We evaluated the pathological condition of endometriotic implants by employing hematoxylin-eosin staining and Ki67 immunohistochemistry analysis. Transforming growth factor-beta 1 (TGF-β1) and alpha-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) have been identified as profibrotic markers that are highly overexpressed in endometriotic tissues relative to eutopic endometrial tissue. Furthermore, TGF-β1 influences the differentiation and progression of endometriosis. To quantify profibrotic activity, we measured TGF-β1 and α-SMA using the immunosorbent assay method. Results: Lower histologic evaluation scores for endometriotic implants were observed in the group receiving high-dose A. cepa relative to the other groups. Ki67 expression was reduced following the high-dose A. cepa regimen, which consisted of 30% A. cepa and 70% normal feed. However, no statistically significant differences in TGF-β1 or α-SMA levels were observed among the groups (p=0.7 and p=0.778, respectively). Conclusion: The findings suggest that A. cepa could serve as a therapeutic agent in endometriosis treatment, as evidenced by the reduction in proliferative potential. Nevertheless, A. cepa was not associated with significantly lower levels of endometriosis-associated TGF-β1 or α-SMA. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

14. Histomorphological and histopathological evaluation of the effects of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome on kidney, liver and lung in the rats

Abstract

Objective:Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) is a life-threatening iatrogenic complication of controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) used in the treatment of infertility. OHSS is classified into four categories according to the severity of clinical findings and symptoms as mild, moderate, severe and critical. Although it is a fatal condition in the advanced stages, its pathogenesis is still not clearly understood. Therefore, this study aimed to define the organ damage that plays a role in the clinical course of OHSS and to evaluate the effects of OHSS severity on the kidney, liver, and lung both histomorphologically and histopathologically. Methods:Our study employed 21 female immature wistar albino rats (22 day-old, weighing 30-40 g). The rats were randomly divided into three groups: the control group (n=7), moderate OHSS group (n=7) and severe OHSS group (n=7). The OHSS model was established with sequential injections of pregnant mare serum gonadotropin (PMSG) and human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). Weight loss/gain (total body weight on the last day – total body weight on the first day) and organ weights of the rats were recorded. A routine tissue processing procedure was performed for the kidney, liver and lung fixed with formaldehyde. General histomorphological structures and damage evaluations of organs were made from sections stained with hematoxylin and eosin. Results:In the intra-abdominal macroscopic evaluation, there was an increase in the size of the ovary, enlargement of the fallopian tubes and dilatation of the colon. The whole body and organ weights of the severe OHSS group were significantly higher than those of the control group (p Conclusion:Our study is the first to examine the histomorphological and histopathological effects of OHSS severity on the kidney, liver and lungs in rats. The data we obtained describe the organ damage caused by the severity of OHSS. Our findings can contribute to the elucidation of the pathogenesis of OHSS and the treatment process.

18. Angio-Seal Used as a Bailout for Incomplete Hemostasis After Dual Perclose ProGlide Deployment in Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation

Abstract

Background The failure rate of vascular closure devices remains a significant cause of major vascular complications in contemporary transcatheter aortic valve implantation practice. Methods This research aimed to evaluate use of the Angio-Seal device in a bailout context in the setting of incomplete hemostasis following use of dual Perclose ProGlide devices in patients undergoing transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve implantation. A total of 185 patients undergoing transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve implantation with either dual Per-close ProGlide (n = 139) or a combination of dual Perclose ProGlide and Angio-Seal (n = 46) were retrospectively analyzed. The baseline, procedural characteristics, and all outcomes (defined according to Valve Academic Research Consortium-2 criteria) were compared. Results No significant differences were seen between the dual Perclose ProGlide vs dual Perclose ProGlide+Angio-Seal groups with regard to the in-hospital Valve Academic Research Consortium-2 primary end points of major vascular complications (n = 13 [9.4%] vs n = 2 [4.3%]; P = .36), minor vascular complications (n = 13 [9.4%] vs n = 8 [14.7%]; P = .14), major bleeding (n = 16 [11.5%] vs n = 2 [4.3%]; P = .25), and minor bleeding (n = 9 [6.5%] vs n = 5 [10.9%]; P = .34), with higher rates of hematoma in the dual Perclose ProGlide+Angio-Seal group (n = 4 [2.9%] vs n = 5 [10.9%]; P = .044). Conclusion Finding from the current study suggest that adjunctive Angio-Seal deployment may be feasible and safe, especially in patients with incomplete hemostasis following dual Perclose ProGlide use, and can be an optimal “bailout” procedure.

Abstract

Yapılan bu çalışmada farklı okul kademelerinde farklı branşlarda görev yapan öğretmenlerin algılarına göre okul müdürlerinin çevik liderlik özellikleri ile etkili okul kavramının birlikte incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma nicel bir araştırma olup, ilişkisel tarama modeline göre yürütülmüştür. Araştırmanın evrenini İstanbul İl Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğüne bağlı resmi ilkokul, ortaokul ve lise kurumlarındaki görev yapan toplam 168.165 öğretmen oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu kolay ulaşılır örneklem yöntemi kullanılarak, 605 öğretmenden oluşturmaktadır. Veri toplamak amacı ile araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan kişisel bilgi formu, Yıldırım ve Ada (2018) tarafından Türkçe' ye uyarlanan "Algılanan Okul Etkililiği Ölçeği (SE-INDEX)" ve Yazıcı ve Özgenel (2020) tarafından geliştirilen "Marmara Çevik Liderlik Ölçeği" kullanılmıştır. Veriler elektronik olarak toplanmıştır. Veriler t-testi, ANOVA, korelâsyon ve regresyon analizleri yapılarak çözümlenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda öğretmenlerin algılarına göre okul müdürlerinin çevik liderlik özellikleri ile okul etkililiği arasında orta düzeyde ve pozitif yönde anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu görülmüştür. Ayrıca, öğretmenlerin algılarına göre okul yöneticilerinin çevik liderlik stillerinin okul etkililiğinin bir yordayıcısı olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Öğretmenlerin okul etkililiği puanları çalışan okul kademesine göre anlamlı farklılık göstermektedir. Okul kademelerinin farklılığı, öğretmenlerin okul müdürlerinin çevik liderlik özelliklerini algılama düzeylerinde farklılık göstermektedir. In this study, it is aimed to examine the agile leadership characteristics of school principals and the concept of effective school according to the perceptions of teachers working in different branches at different school levels. It is a quantitive research and it is carried out according to survey model. The universe of the research consists of 168,165 teachers working in official primary, secondary and high school institutions affiliated to the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education. The study group consists of easily accessible sample from 605 teachers. The personal information form prepared by the researcher, the "Perceived School Effectiveness Scale (SE-INDEX)" adapted to Turkish by Yıldırım and Ada (2018) and the "Marmara Agile Leadership Scale" developed by Yazıcı and Özgenel (2020) are used to gather information. Data are collected electronically. The data are analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, correlation and regression analysis. As a result of the research, it is seen that there is a moderate and positive relationship between the agile leadership characteristics of school principals and school effectiveness according to the perceptions of teachers. In addition, according to the perceptions of teachers, it is concluded that the agile leadership styles of school administrators are a predictor of school effectiveness. School effectiveness scores of teachers differ significantly according to the working school level. Differences in school levels differ in teachers' perception levels of school principals' agile leadership characteristics.

36. Comparison of Exosome Presence and Morphologic Changes Between Implantation and Inter-Implantation Areas in Rat's Utero by Confocal Microscope and SEM.

Abstract

Aim: In this study, it was aimed to compare the differences between the implantation and interimplantation sites in terms of the presence and release density of exosomes. Method: Wistar albino strains were used in this study. The rats were considered pregnant with the presence of vaginal plugs after mating. Then the rats were sacrificed on the 6th day when the embryos first attach to the uterus and implantation started. Implantation and inter-implantation sites were easily identified by staining the implantation sites with intravenous Chicago Blue dye given just before sacrification. After tissue preparation, sections were placed on slides. Exosomes detected with anti-CD63 fluoresence staining and imaged by confocal microscope. Further these sites were evaluated by Scaning electron microscopy (SEM). Result: When implantation and inter implantation sites compared, it was observed that amont of exosomes was higher than inter-implantation sites in confocal images. Additionally, SEM images confirmed the confocal results of these sites. Conclusion: Our study is the first in the literature to compare implantation and inter-implantation areas in terms of the presence of exosomes. These results probably suggested that the exosome plays an important role in implantation for the embryo to find the correct implantation site. Probably these exosomes must carry the necessary signals to find the right implantation site. However, further studies are needed to reveal the function of exosomes in implantation sites. 37. Educated Platelets Promote Wound Healing via Anti-inflammatory Effect and Down-regulated VEGF and MMP-9

Abstract

Background: This study aims to investigate the effect of educated platelets histological and immunohistochemical (MMP-9 and VEGF) in wound treatment. Methods: 28 female Wistar albino 180-225 gr rats were divided into four groups randomly. The control group (C) is unburnt which blood samples are extracted or PRP with ordinary platelets. Burn group (B) is a burn group in which blood samples were extracted with the educated platelets for PRP. The Burn and uneducated platelet group (B+P) were the burn groups given PRP with uneducated platelets to their blood circulation. Burn and educated platelet group (B+EP) was the burn group given PRP with educated platelets to their blood circulation. The histological analysis was scored 14 days after injury, and MMP-9, VEGF were immunostained. Results: The results clearly showed higher reepithelialization, lower inflammation, and granulation in the B+EP group. Immunohistochemical staining for MMP-9 and VEGF in the B+EP group were statistically lower than other groups. Educated platelet treatment significantly suppressed MMP-9 and VEGF. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that educated-platelet treatment can be a promising strategy for promoting burn cutaneous wound healing. Further and more extensive clinical studies are needed to determine the effectiveness of this treatment method definitively.

41. Vascular complications after transcatheter transfemoral aortic valve implantation: Modified sheath-to-femoral artery ratio as a new predictor.

Abstract

Objective: Vascular complications (VCs) contribute to increased morbidity and mortality in patients who have undergone transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI); however, studies on their incidence and predictors show conflicting results. In this study, we sought to assess the incidence, impact, and predictors of VCs in transfemoral (TF) TAVI and also investigated the predictive role of manufacturer’s size charts and a new predictor modified sheath-to-femoral artery ratio. Methods: A total of 223 patients undergoing TF-TAVI were categorized into 2 groups. The patients were divided as eligible and ineligible according to the manufacturer’s guidelines (MG), and the same patient cohort was dichotomized into eligible and ineligible on the basis of sheath-to-femoral artery ratio (SFAR) value of less than or greater than or equal to modified SFAR (md-SFAR). VCs (defined according to the Valve Academic Research Consortium II criteria) were retrospectively compared. Results: According to the manufacturer’s size charts, 65 patients were unsuitable; however, 35 patients were ineligible for TF-TAVI per the md-SFAR criteria. Although VCs occurred in 42 (18.8%) patients, 17 (27.7%) of those patients were classified as ineligible according to MG, whereas 14 (41.2%) were classified as ineligible in the md-SFAR group. In a multiple logistic regression analysis that included md-SFAR, MG, SFAR ≥1.05, peripheral artery disease, and minimum iliofemoral artery diameter, only md-SFAR was the independent predictor of VCs (odds ratio=3.71, 95% confidence interval=1.13–12.53, p=0.031). Conclusion: According to our results, md-SFAR might provide better patient selection to prevent VCs and improve outcomes in TF-TAVI procedures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

An immunosensor is based on the signal measurement obtained upon the reaction of an antibody antigen complex. It plays a significant role in various fields such as environmental analysis, production monitoring, drug detection or screening, veterinary medicine, and animal food. In this study, an antibody crosslinked graphen oxide (GO)‐based potentiometric sensor has been developed for fast, simple, and economical detection of clenbuterol. In this context, the photosensitive amino acid bound GO platform is synthesized and used for the preparation of electrode material. Then, polymeric structure is characterized by infrared spectroscopy, and the performance of immunonano platform prepared by potentiometric sensor is evaluated. The effect of pH, response time, selectivity, and sensitivity is investigated. Under the optimized conditions, a simple and rapid method for the determination of clenbuterol from milk sample is established by immuno‐potentiometric sensor. The detection limit has found to be 0.87 × 10−9 mmol L−1 for this immuno‐potentiometric sensor. This immuno‐potentiometric sensor has optimum pH at 7.0, a wide linear response (1.0 × 10−2 to 1.0 × 10−9 mmol L−1), rapid response time (2 Min) and 36 weeks operational lifetime. Abstract

Bilişim teknolojileri, işleri daha kısa sürede tamamlayarak işin verimliliğini ve kalitesini artıran modern araçlardır. Günümüzde bilişim teknolojilerinin önemi ve gerekliliği her geçen gün artmaktadır. Bu nedenle bireylerin küçük yaşlardan itibaren bilişim teknolojilerine yönelik kazanımları doğru ve etkili bir şekilde elde etmesi gerekmektedir. Bireyler bu sayede bilişim teknolojilerini etkili ve doğru şekilde kullanma seviyesine ulaşacak ve çağın gerektirdiği özelliklere sahip olacaklardır. Çocukların bilişim teknolojilerini etkili ve doğru kullanmayı öğrenecekleri en güvenilir ortam ise okullardır. Buradan hareketle öğrencilerin öğrenmelerinin bir göstergesi olan akademik başarı ile ilişki olabileceği ve akademik başarıyı etkileyebileceği kabul edilen öğrencilerin bilişim teknolojileri ve yazılım dersine yönelik tutumlarının birlikte ele alınması önemli görülmektedir. Bu araştırmanın amacı, ortaokul öğrencilerinin bilişim teknolojileri ve yazılım dersine yönelik tutumları ile akademik başarıları arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. Araştırmada nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden ilişkisel tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırma 2017- 2018 eğitim öğretim yılında yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini Pendik İlçe Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğü’ne bağlı devlet ortaokulları oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklemi belirlenirken tabakalı örneklem yapılmıştır. Örneklemde okullar sosyoekonomik olarak alt, orta ve üst gruba ayrıldıktan sonra her tabakadan birer okul tesadüfi örnekleme yöntemi belirlenmiştir ve araştırmaya gönüllü olarak 717 ortaokul öğrencisi katılmıştır. Araştırmada bilgi formu, bilişim teknolojileri dersine yönelik tutum ölçeği ve ders başarı testi kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde korelasyon, regresyon, t-testi ve ANOVA analizleri yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda ortaokul öğrencilerinin bilişim teknolojileri ve yazılım dersine yönelik tutumları ile akademik başarıları arasında pozitif yönde ve düşük düzeyde ilişki saptanmıştır. Öğrencilerin bilişim teknolojileri ve yazılım dersine yönelik tutumları, akademik başarılarının %5’ni açıklamaktadır. Ayrıca öğrencilerin bilişim teknolojileri ve yazılım dersine yönelik tutumlarının cinsiyetlerine ve sınıf düzeylerine göre anlamlı bir şekilde farklılık gösterdiği tespit edilmiştir. The most reliable environment for children to learn to use information technology effectively and correctly is the schools. It is therefore important that students who are considered to be able to relate to academic achievement, which is a sign of their learning, and their attitudes toward information technology and software lessons, are considered to be able to influence academic success. The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between secondary school students' attitudes towards information technology and software lectures and academic achievement. In the research, relational survey model was used as the quantitative research methods. The research was carried out in the academic year of 2017-2018. The sample of the study is the state secondary schools affiliated to Pendik District Directorate of National Education. A stratified sample was made while the sample of the research was determined. In the sample, after schools were divided into lower, middle and upper socioeconomic groups, one school random sampling method was determined from each layer and 717 middle school students voluntarily participated in the research. In the research, attitude scale and course success test were used for information form, information technology course. Correlation, regression, t-test and ANOVA analyzes were performed in the analysis of the data. As a result of the research, there was positive and low level of relationship between secondary school students' attitudes towards information technology and software courses and academic achievement. Students' attitudes towards information technologies and software courses account for 5% of their academic achievement. Moreover, it has been determined that the attitudes of students towards information technology and software course differ significantly according to gender and grade levels.

Abstract

Pacemaker implantation in patients with tricuspid prosthesis is a challenging situation. It is not possible to pass the pacing lead through tricuspid valve in these patients. Therefore, ventricular pacing can be achieved either epicardial or endocardial left vent- ricular stimulation. For epicardial pacing, lead implantation can be done transvenously via coronary sinus or surgically. In this paper, we present a patient who had complete atrioventricular block (CAVB) following tricuspid valve prosthesis implantation and treated with epicardial pacing via coronary sinus. In pati- ents who develop CAVB after tricuspid valve replacement, can be treated with permanent pacemaker implantation via CS. This technique enables a minimally invasive approach and effective stimulus in patients with inaccessible right ventricle because of the presence of prosthetic tricuspid valve. Triküspid protezi olan hastalarında pacemaker implantasyonu zor bir durumdur. Bu hastalarda, pacemaker elektrodunu triküspit kapaktan geçirmek olası değildir. Bu nedenle, ventriküler uyarı, ancak epikardiyal veya endokardiyal sol ventriküler stimülasyon ile elde edilebilir. Epikardiyal uyarı için, elektrodun implantas- yonu, tranasvenöz yol ile koroner sinüse veya cerrahi yöntemle yapılabilir. Bu makalede, triküspid kapak replasmanı sonrasın- da gelişen tam kalp bloğunun, koroner sinüs yoluyla epikardiyal stimülasyon elde edilerek tedavi edildiği bir hastayı sunuyoruz. Triküspid kapak replasmanı sonrası tam kalp bloğu gelişen hasta- lar koroner sinüs yolu ile implante edilen kalıcı kalp pili ile tedavi edilebilirler. Bu teknik, hem minimal invaziv bir yaklaşım hem de protez triküspid kapak nedeniyle sağ ventriküllerine erişilemeyen hastalarda etkili bir uyarı sağlar.

Abstract

İşgücü devri, özellikle maliyet ve yetişmiş eleman bulma açısından konaklama işletmelerince çözülmesi gereken sorunlardandır. Bu araştırmada çalışanların işten ayrılma niyetini etkileyen faktörler olarak örgütsel özdeşleşme ve örgütsel iletişimin konaklama işletmelerinde işten ayrılma niyeti üzerindeki etkisi incelenmiştir. Bu amaçla örgütsel iletişim dikey ve yatay iletişim olacak şekilde iki boyutta alınmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda örgütsel özdeşleşme ile işten ayrılma niyeti arasında negatif bir ilişki olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca regresyon analizi sonuçlarına göre örgütsel özdeşleşme ve dikey iletişimin işten ayrılma niyeti üzerinde negatif bir etkiye sahip olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ancak yatay iletişim işten ayrılma niyeti üzerinde pozitif bir etkiye sahip olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Ayrıca tespit edilen sorunlara yönelik çeşitli öneriler sunulmuş ve gelecekte bu konuda araştırma yapacak kişilere bazı önerilerde bulunulmuştur. Labor turnover is one of the problems to be solved, particularly in terms of costs and finding qualified staff by accommodation establishments. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of organizational identification and organizational communication on intention to leave in accommodation establishments. To this end, organizational communication has been examined in two dimensions as vertically and horizontally. As a result of this research, a negative relationship between organizational identification and intention to leave has been determined. According to the results of regression analysis, it has been found that organizational identification and vertical communication have a negative effect on intention to leave. Nevertheless, horizontal communication has a positive effect on intent to leave. Also this paper draws from a wider spectrum of related studies in order to highlight theoretical contributions of the current literature and to propose areas for further research.
