1. Band anisotropy and effective mass renormalization in strained metallic VO2 (101) thin films

Abstract: Abstract We explore how strain impacts the band structure of metallic-phase VO2 thin films deposited on TiO2(101) substrates. Employing a combination of X-ray absorption linear dichroism and valence band measurements, we demonstrate that strain can alter the intrinsic band structure anisotropy of metallic VO2. Our findings reveal that reducing the thickness of VO2 films leads to a more isotropic band structure. This observation is further supported by an analysis of the electronic population redistribution in the $${d}_{{||}}{-}{\pi }^{* }$$ d || − π * bands, which affects the screening length and induces effective mass renormalization. Overall, our results underscore the potential of strain manipulation in tailoring the electronic structure uniformity of thin films, thereby expanding the scope for engineering VO2 functionalities.

Abstract: The first search for the lepton number violating decay K+→π0π−μ+e+ and lepton flavour violating decays K+→π0π+μ−e+, K+→π0π+μ+e− has been performed using a dataset collected by the NA62 experiment at CERN in 2016–2018. Upper limits of 2.9×10−10, 3.1×10−10 and 5.0×10−10, respectively, are obtained at 90% CL for the branching ratios of the three decays on the assumption of uniform phase-space distributions.

3. The use of corn and buckwheat flour in the production of bakery products

Abstract: Currently, to make profit all entrepreneurs expand the range of products. The purpose of the research is introduction and use of a combination of different types of flour in bread baking in order to expand the range of bakery products of improved quality. The objectives of the research are to study the organoleptic quality indicators of the experimental sample; to conduct a study on physical and chemical quality indicators of the experimental sample; to determine the economic feasibility of using a new recipe in bread production. The research was carried out on the basis of the Department of Processing Technologies and Food Security of Volgograd State Agrarian University. To expand the range of bakery products, 40% of corn flour and 10% of buckwheat flour were used to replace 50% of wheat flour. The bread was baked using the non-steam method. When conducting an organoleptic assessment of bread, the experimental sample complied with the requirements of GOST 27669-88 «Wheat baking flour. Method of trial laboratory bread baking.» The taste became sweeter, the porosity became fine and thin-walled, and the color of the crumb became light brown. According to physicochemical indicators, the experimental sample was 56 g larger in bread volume, and the crumb moisture content was 43%. The economic efficiency of bread production was calculated. The profitability of experimental bread production was 44%, which was 14% higher than the control (wheat) sample. I t is recommended to produce bread using a combination of three types of flour, to increase the output at enterprises. This type of bread, in terms of organoleptic and physico-chemical indicators, has proven itself to be a more advantageous example of a bakery product compared with wheat bread.

4. Ways to increase durum wheat yield in the south of Russia

Abstract: The experiment showed that in the risky farming zone where the experiment was carried out, the introduction of mineral nutrition into southern chernozem significantly influenced the content of nutrients in the soil. Experimental studies were carried out in 2018-2021 on the southern chernozem of the Volgograd region, on the fields of the «Eliseev A.N.» peasant farm, located in the Mikhailovsky district. The varieties of spring durum wheat Donskaya Elegiya, Krasnokutka 13 and winter durum wheat Aksinit and Agat Donskoy were compared with the addition of the calculated amount of mineral nutrition for given yield levels. The experience showed that in variants without the addition of mineral nutrition, it accumulated in the early spring (this was the maximum accumulation) from 5.02 (Don Elegy) to 5.07 (Aksinit) mg per 100 g of soil. The application of N147P5K90 to all varieties was marked by the maximum accumulation of the amount of nitrate nitrogen, and it varied between varieties from 7.01 (Aksinit variety) to 7.57 (Krasnokutka 13 variety) mg per 100 g of soil. By the end of the growing season the least amount of nitrate nitrogen was retained on the Aksinit variety – 4.11 mg per 100 g of soil. While the Krasnokutka 13 variety retained the level of 4.71 mg per 100 g of soil. A similar dependence was observed for the accumulation and consumption of mobile phosphorus. As a result, in varieties without the use of mineral nutrition, the yield ranged from 1.34 t/ha (Krasnokutka 13) to 3.41 t/ha (Aksinit). The maximum yield values were obtained from the application of N74Р27К45 and it ranged from 2.41 t/ha (variety Krasnokutka 13) to 4.02 t/ha (variety Aksinit).

Abstract: Structural yield indicators are the ratio of the main components of wheat, which determine the productivity of its crops, as well as the share of the commodity part in the total harvest volume. Establishing patterns in the formation of the harvest of winter and spring durum wheat in connection with the changing structure of the crop, gives grounds to reveal the weak elements in the adopted system of agrotechnological measures, to use natural factors to the maximum extent to form a guaranteed yield, while giving it the necessary structure. Identification of the patterns of yield formation and its structure is required for targeted management of the production process of durum wheat development. The purpose of the experiment was to establish the effect of biofertilizers and mineral nutrition on the quality characteristics of spring and winter durum wheat grain. The objectives were to establish the role of mineral nutrition on the technological and baking characteristics of durum wheat and their influence on the cereal properties. The experimental part was carried out on the territory of «Eliseev A.N.» peasant farm in 2018...2022, which was located in the black soil zone of the southern Mikhailovsky district, the Volgograd region. The experiment involved regionalized and promising varieties of durum spring wheat: Donskaya Elegiya, Krasnokutka 13 and winter wheats Agat Donskoy and Aksinit. Blago+ and Gumi 20 biofertilizers and calculated norms of mineral fertilizers for a given yield were used. These indicators were the best for the winter durum wheat variety Aksinit and they were accordingly equal to: glassiness – 92%, protein content – 15.1%, microsedimentation – 69, grain yellowness index – 22.9%, color of the resulting pasta 4.9 points, all this applies to the option with the addition of N74P28K45. In the variant with the treatment of seed material with Numi biofertilizer, these indicators for this variety were respectively: 90%, 15.0%, 64, 22.8% and 4.7.

Abstract: Abstract Measurement of the ultra-rare K + → π + ν ν ¯ $$ {K}^{+}\to {\pi}^{+}\nu \overline{\nu} $$ decay at the NA62 experiment at CERN requires high-performance particle identification to distinguish muons from pions. Calorimetric identification currently in use, based on a boosted decision tree algorithm, achieves a muon misidentification probability of 1.2 × 10 −5 for a pion identification efficiency of 75% in the momentum range of 15–40 GeV/c. In this work, calorimetric identification performance is improved by developing an algorithm based on a convolutional neural network classifier augmented by a filter. Muon misidentification probability is reduced by a factor of six with respect to the current value for a fixed pion-identification efficiency of 75%. Alternatively, pion identification efficiency is improved from 72% to 91% for a fixed muon misidentification probability of 10 −5.

Abstract: Abstract A sample of 1.3 × 105 K + → π 0 e + νγ candidates with less than 1% background was collected by the NA62 experiment at the CERN SPS in 2017–2018. Branching fraction measurements are obtained at percent relative precision in three restricted kinematic regions, improving on existing results by a factor larger than two. An asymmetry, possibly related to T-violation, is investigated with no evidence observed within the achieved precision.

Abstract: A sample of 3984 candidates of the K+→π+γγ decay, with an estimated background of 291±14 events, was collected by the NA62 experiment at CERN during 2017–2018. In order to describe the observed di-photon mass spectrum, the next-to-leading order contribution in chiral perturbation theory was found to be necessary. The decay branching ratio in the full kinematic range is measured to be (9.61±0.17)×10−7. The first search for production and prompt decay of an axion-like particle with gluon coupling in the process K+→π+a, a→γγ is also reported.

10. The influence of agrotechnical techniques on the phytosanitary condition of sugar corn crops in the conditions of the Lower Volga region

Abstract: Corn is one of the main crops of modern world agriculture, versatile use and high yield, which can largely solve the problems of food security. Various types of weeds can cause significant losses of its yield, which can reach 50% or more, which makes it necessary to provide for protective measures against them in technological schemes of corn cultivation. In corn cultivation technologies, the weed control system is of great importance, since corn grows very slowly at the beginning of the growing season. The purpose of the research is to study the influence of various agrotechnical techniques on the number and variety of weeds in sugar corn crops in the conditions of the Lower Volga region. The tasks of the research are to determine the number and species composition of weeds during the growing season of sweet corn; to determine the effect of herbicides on weeds in sugar corn crops. The experiments were carried out in LLC “Kuznetsovskaya” agricultural company of the Ilovlinsky district of the Volgograd region and in S.A. Popov’s farm of the Chernoyarsky district of the Astrakhan region. The research period is 2009...2015. The contamination was determined by quantitative and weight method on an area of 1 m2. According to all variants of the experiment, the contamination was attributed to a mixed juvenile and long-term type, while no stable patterns were observed in changing the ratios between these components.As a result, it has been revealed that the number of weeds in LLC “Kuznetsovskaya” of the Ilovlinsky district of the Volgograd region varied from 6 to 17 pcs./m2. For dump tillage, this indicator varied from 6 to 11 pcs./m2, for zero tillage – 13...17 pcs./m2. In S.A. Popov’s farm of the Chernoyarsky district of the Astrakhan region, the number of weeds for dump tillage was 4...9 pcs./m2, depending on the influence of agrotechnical reception, for zero tillage contained from 10 to 17 pcs./ m2.

Abstract: The first search for ultra-rare K+ decays into the π+e+e−e+e− final state is reported, using a dataset collected by the NA62 experiment at CERN in 2017–2018. An upper limit of 1.4×10−8 at 90% CL is obtained for the branching ratio of the K+→π+e+e−e+e− decay, predicted in the Standard Model to be (7.2±0.7)×10−11. Upper limits at 90% CL are obtained at the level of 10−9 for the branching ratios of two prompt decay chains involving pair-production of hidden-sector mediators: K+→π+aa, a→e+e− and K+→π+S, S→A′A′, A′→e+e−.

Abstract: We report the measurements of single and double differential cross section of muon neutrino charged-current interactions on carbon with a single positively charged pion in the final state at the T2K off-axis near detector using $5.56\times10^{20}$ protons on target. The analysis uses data control samples for the background subtraction and the cross section signal, defined as a single negatively charged muon and a single positively charged pion exiting from the target nucleus, is extracted using an unfolding method. The model dependent cross section, integrated over the T2K off-axis neutrino beam spectrum peaking at $0.6$~GeV, is measured to be $\sigma = (11.76 \pm 0.44 \text{(stat)} \pm 2.39 \text{(syst)}) \times 10^{-40} \text{cm}^2$~$\text{nucleon}^{-1}$. Various differential cross sections are measured, including the first measurement of the Adler angles for single charged pion production in neutrino interactions with heavy nuclei target.

Abstract: Abstract The NA62 experiment at CERN targets the measurement of the ultra-rare K + → π + ν ν ¯ $$ {K}^{+}\to {\pi}^{+}\nu \overline{\nu} $$ decay, and carries out a broad physics programme that includes probes for symmetry violations and searches for exotic particles. Data were collected in 2016–2018 using a multi-level trigger system, which is described highlighting performance studies based on 2018 data.

Abstract: The number of soil microorganisms affect the fertility of the soil and the processes occurring in the soil microflora. An urgent research problem is the rationale for the use of intensive technologies for the cultivation of sweet corn using progressive methods for obtaining a highly productive crop based on the principles of resource conservation, biologization and ecologization. The purpose of the research is to study the toxicity and biological activity of the soil after sowing sweet corn. The tasks are to determine the biological activity and toxicity of the soil, and comparative impact of agricultural practices in the study of soil toxicity. Two-factor experiment in quadruple repetition. The experiments were carried out on the farm enterprise of Popov S.A., the Chernoyarsky district of the Astrakhan region. The research period was 2009…2015. Determination of biological activity and toxicity was carried out at the beginning of the research in 2009 and 2015. According to the assessment of the intensity of the destruction of cellulose on O.E. Pryazhnikova’s scale biological activity was characterized as strong. A close correlation dependence on experience factors was noted, the relationship between the signs was high and direct. When determining the toxicity of the soil, we came to the conclusion that at the beginning of the research favorable conditions for the development of the studied crop were formed on soils cultivated by moldboard cultivation. According to zero tillage, an increase in soil toxicity was observed, which was expressed in a decrease in seed germination, the mass of seedlings. Revisited in 2015. Soil toxicity after zero tillage decreased in all variants, seed germination increased, on average, by 5...8%. As a result of the accumulation of plant residues on the soil surface, an upper humus layer was formed, leading to a constant penetration of ai r into the soil.

Abstract: Abstract A sample of 2.8 × 104 K + → π + μ + μ − candidates with negligible background was collected by the NA62 experiment at the CERN SPS in 2017–2018. The model-independent branching fraction is measured to be (9.15 ± 0.08) × 10 −8, a factor three more precise than previous measurements. The decay form factor is presented as a function of the squared dimuon mass. A measurement of the form factor parameters and their uncertainties is performed using a description based on Chiral Perturbation Theory at O $$ \mathcal{O} $$ (p 6).

Abstract: The principles of personalized approach to early diagnosis and monitoring of primary glaucoma are shown by a clinical example. We analyzed the potentials of contemporary electrophysiological tests for preclinically diagnosing glaucoma optic neuropathy and monitoring drug treatment. For the first time, we demonstrated the experience of using a new fixed combination of brinzolamide + brimonidine by a clinical case from our practice. The test results confirm the hypotensive effect of the medication (IOP reduction by 36.2 %) so that it can be recommended for the treatment of patients with glaucomatous optic neuropathy and that combined with vascular pathology.

Abstract: A search for the K+→μ−νe+e+ decay, forbidden within the Standard Model by either lepton number or lepton flavour conservation depending on the flavour of the emitted neutrino, has been performed using the dataset collected by the NA62 experiment at CERN in 2016–2018. An upper limit of 8.1×10−11 is obtained for the decay branching fraction at 90% CL, improving by a factor of 250 over the previous search.

Abstract: The relevance of the study is related to the prospects for deep processing of solid fuel and the need to obtain more detailed information about the basic laws of thermal transformations of coal during its liquefaction. The development and improvement of direct coal liquefaction technologies in the future can become an important source of additional hydrocarbon resources for the chemical industry and power engineering. The main aim of the research is to study the effects of technological parameters (temperature and pressure) on liquefaction and thermal transformations of Barzas coals in carbon dioxide and hydrogen atmospheres in order to establish the relationships between thermal treatment conditions of coal feedstocks and the compositions and yields of its conversion products. Objects: sapromixites of the Barzas coal deposit (Kemerovo region, Russia) and products of their thermal transformations in carbon dioxide and hydrogen media. Methods: heat treatment of the coals studied in a laboratory microautoclave in various media (CO2, H2) and analysis of the products of their transformations by elemental analysis (CHNOS), FTIR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. The studies were carried out on calibrated and serviceable equipment. The list of equipment and methods used in the given work are described in detail in the experimental part of this article. Results. Almost similar temperature and pressure dependences (extremal type curves) have been revealed for both the changes in the IR absorption intensities of alkyl groups and the yields of «coal liquids» (total amounts of maltenes and asphaltenes) in the process of Barzas coals transformations in carbon dioxide and hydrogen media. Differences in the transformations of two modifications of Barzas sapromixites were established, and a predominantly paraffin-naphthenic character of the functional composition of the resulting «coal liquids» was revealed. A clear relationship was found between the yields of gaseous products and atomic ratios H/C in the solid products of transformations of the Barzas sapromixites. «Coal liquids» and gaseous compounds obtained as a result of Barzas coals thermal processing can serve as potential raw materials for production of hydrocarbons and other valuable chemical products, as well as used as a fuel in production of heat and electricity.

Abstract: Searches for lepton number violating K+→π−e+e+ and K+→π−π0e+e+ decays have been performed using the complete dataset collected by the NA62 experiment at CERN in 2016–2018. Upper limits of 5.3×10−11 and 8.5×10−10 are obtained on the decay branching fractions at 90% confidence level. The former result improves by a factor of four over the previous best limit, while the latter result represents the first limit on the K+→π−π0e+e+ decay rate.

Abstract: Abstract The NA62 experiment reports the branching ratio measurement BR K + → π + ν ν ¯ = 10.6 − 3.4 + 4.0 stat ± 0.9 syst × 10 − 11 $$ \mathrm{BR}\left({K}^{+}\to {\pi}^{+}\nu \overline{\nu}\right)=\left({10.6}_{-3.4}^{+4.0}\left|{}_{\mathrm{stat}}\right.\pm {0.9}_{\mathrm{syst}}\right)\times {10}^{-11} $$ at 68% CL, based on the observation of 20 signal candidates with an expected background of 7.0 events from the total data sample collected at the CERN SPS during 2016–2018. This provides evidence for the very rare K + → π + ν ν ¯ $$ {\pi}^{+}\nu \overline{\nu} $$ decay, observed with a significance of 3.4σ. The experiment achieves a single event sensitivity of (0.839 ± 0.054) × 10 −11, corresponding to 10.0 events assuming the Standard Model branching ratio of (8.4 ± 1.0) × 10 −11. This measurement is also used to set limits on BR(K + → π + X), where X is a scalar or pseudo-scalar particle. Details are given of the analysis of the 2018 data sample, which corresponds to about 80% of the total data sample.

Abstract: The article reviews the initial period of European colonization of the North Pacific Ocean and California within the context of diplomatic relations between Russia and Spain during the late 17th and early 18th centuries. It tries to understand the policies of European powers in the American Northwest and the reasons for pursuing their colonial interests there. It analyses the history of exploration of these territories, expeditions to the northern part of the Pacific Ocean, and historical maps of this region. For the first time in Russian historiography the authors touch upon the exploration of California in the 18th century.The exploration of the North Pacific Ocean, the northwestern American coast, including certain areas of California, Alaska and the Aleutian Islands has long attracted the attention of European powers. It was a process in which government authorities and private merchant companies took part. The expansion of the Spanish Empire into California was made possible in part because of the concerns of the Madrid court about the strengthening of the Russian and British empires in the North Pacific Ocean. The Spanish documents from the archives of Madrid, Seville and Simancas – the article introduces them into research communication the first time - show the validity of the fears of the Madrid court regarding the inevitable development of Russian colonization in the region. The advance of Russia to the shores of America has economic reasons: Cossacks and merchants reached the Pacific Ocean pursuing the desire to profit from the fur trade. As the economic influence expanded, the state interests of annexing territories and bringing the local population into citizenship followed behind. The territorial advance of the Russians to the Pacific Ocean was facilitated by the ambitious, but at the same time balanced diplomacy of Peter I, which managed to ensure the expansion of the borders of the Russian Empire.Spanish consolidation in certain territories in California was aimed at a possible containment of the Russian advance. Russian-Spanish relations in the Northwest Pacific at the end of the 17th – 18th centuries contributed to the nature of the subsequent development of territories in the North Pacific Ocean.

Abstract: The purpose of the study was to assess results of Merzlikin-Paramonova's approach in liver surgeries.Material and Methods. The topographical-anatomical and spatial relationships were studied on 20 corpses, taking into account assessment criteria according to A.Yu. Sozon-Yaroshevich. In clinical settings, Merzlikin-Paramonova's approach was applied in the treatment of 81 patients with hepatic diseases (cancer, hemangioma, alveococcosis), who underwent radical and palliative surgeries. Short-and long-term treatment outcomes during a 5 year follow-up were analyzed. Merzlikin-Paramonova's approach provided a sufficient overview of the liver, easy manipulation in the area of large bile ducts and blood vessels, as well as the ability to perform lymphodissection and combined operations.Results. The Merzlikin-Paramonova's approach to liver surgeries has significant advantages over traditional surgical approaches, providing a good overview for revision of both primary and recurrent liver lesions. This surgical approach allowed the number of postoperative complications to be reduced due to less wound tension, rapid relief of pain and reduction in intra-abdominal hypertension, thus shortening the treatment time for patients. In the long-term postoperative period, the incidence of postoperative hernias decreased due to less damage to the nerve terminals of the anterior abdominal wall.Conclusion. Merzlikin-Paramonova's approach is slightly traumatic due to innervation and muscle structure of the abdominal wall, is more physiological for the patient, and has a low rate of complications. This approach provides a good access to the organ requiring surgery and is able to perform radical cytoreductive surgeries. Merzlikin-Paramonova's approach to liver surgeries can be recommended for active implementation in clinical practice.

Abstract: The first results of investigation of edge localized modes (ELMs) in the Globus-M2 tokamak using the Doppler backscattering method are presented in this paper. Specifically, ELMs that are initiated by sawtooth crashes in the H-mode are discussed. The goal of this paper is study plasma turbulence behaviour during ELMs and to showcase what ELM characteristics can be obtained using Doppler backscattering (DBS). An increase of the poloidal rotation velocity during an ELM burst and a decrease in the inter-ELM periods was observed. The effect of ELMs on the plasma turbulence was investigated and estimated to span around 6 cm inside the separatrix. This is to do with the fact that the sawtooth crashes which are responsible for initiating the ELMs take place in the core plasma. Additional experiments with standard reflectometry indicate that ELMs develop 3 cm inside the separatrix where the pedestal region is believed to be in Globus-M2. The direction of the expansion of the ELMs from the inner plasma region to the edge was determined and the velocity was estimated to be around 8 km s ^−1 . During a single ELM burst a series of filament structures were found in the peripheral DBS channels. In an attempt to understand the processes involved modelling of the reaction of the DBS signals to filaments was done using the BOUT ++ and IPF-FD3D full-wave codes, and the cases for both linear and nonlinear scattering were considered. The results show that the presence of nonlinear scattering during ELMs can lead to an overestimation of the measured velocity values in the region of filament existence near the separatrix.

Abstract: Quantum-chemical calculations on the spectral properties of some aryl substituted 3-phosphonocoumarins were performed, and the effect of the substituents in the aryl moiety was evaluated. The structures possessing promising fluorescent properties were successfully synthesized via Suzuki and Sonogashira cross-coupling. The synthetic protocol was also applied for the phosphorous chemoisomer of 3-phosphonocoumarin, 1,2-benzoxaphosphorin, and their carboxylate analogues. The optical properties of the arylated and alkynylated products were experimentally determined. The obtained quantum-chemical and experimental results give the possibility for a fine tuning of the optical properties of phosphorous-containing coumarin systems by altering the substituent at its C-6 position.

Abstract: Abstract The results of a search for π 0 decays to a photon and an invisible massive dark photon at the NA62 experiment at the CERN SPS are reported. From a total of 4.12 × 108 tagged π 0 mesons, no signal is observed. Assuming a kinetic-mixing interaction, limits are set on the dark photon coupling to the ordinary photon as a function of the dark photon mass, improving on previous searches in the mass range 60–110 MeV/c 2. The present results are interpreted in terms of an upper limit of the branching ratio of the electro-weak decay π 0 → γ ν ν ¯ $$ {\pi}^0\to \gamma \nu \overline{\nu} $$ , improving the current limit by more than three orders of magnitude.

Abstract: The NA62 experiment at CERN reports searches for K+→μ+N and K+→μ+νX decays, where N and X are massive invisible particles, using the 2016–2018 data set. The N particle is assumed to be a heavy neutral lepton, and the results are expressed as upper limits of O(10−8) of the neutrino mixing parameter |Uμ4|2 for N masses in the range 200–384 MeV/c2 and lifetime exceeding 50 ns. The X particle is considered a scalar or vector hidden sector mediator decaying to an invisible final state, and upper limits of the decay branching fraction for X masses in the range 10–370 MeV/c2 are reported for the first time, ranging from O(10−5) to O(10−7). An improved upper limit of 1.0×10−6 is established at 90% CL on the K+→μ+ννν¯ branching fraction.

Abstract: A search for heavy neutral lepton (N) production in K+→e+N decays using the data sample collected by the NA62 experiment at CERN in 2017–2018 is reported. Upper limits of the extended neutrino mixing matrix element |Ue4|2 are established at the level of 10−9 over most of the accessible heavy neutral lepton mass range 144–462 MeV/c2, with the assumption that the lifetime exceeds 50 ns. These limits improve significantly upon those of previous production and decay searches. The |Ue4|2 range favoured by Big Bang Nucleosynthesis is excluded up to a mass of about 340 MeV/c2.

29. Parsec-scale Properties of Steep- and Flat-spectrum Extragalactic Radio Sources from a VLBA Survey of a Complete North Polar Cap Sample

Abstract: We observed with the Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) at 2.3 and 8.6 GHz a complete flux-density-limited sample of 482 radio sources with decl. > +75° brighter than 200 mJy at 1.4 GHz drawn from the NVSS catalog. A total of 34% of the sources show parsec-scale emission above the flux density detection limit of 30 mJy; their accurate positions and parsec-scale structure parameters are determined. Among all the sources detected at least at the shortest VLBA baselines, the majority, or 72%, have a steep single-dish spectrum. The fraction of the sources with a detectable parsec-scale structure is above 95% among the flat-spectrum objects and close to 25% among the steep-spectrum objects. We identified 82 compact steep-spectrum source candidates, which make up 17% of the sample; most of them are reported for the first time. The compactness and the brightness temperature of the sources in our sample show a positive correlation with single-dish and VLBA spectral indices. All the sources with a significant 8 GHz variability were detected by the VLBA snapshot observations, which independently confirmed their compactness. We demonstrated that 54% of the sources detected by the VLBA at 2.3 GHz in our sample have a steep VLBA spectrum. The compact radio emission of these sources is likely dominated by optically thin jets or mini-lobes, not by an opaque jet core. These results show that future VLBI surveys aimed at searching for new sources with parsec-scale structure should include not only flat-spectrum sources but also steep-spectrum ones in order to reach an acceptable level of completeness.

Abstract: The NA62 experiment at CERN reports a search for the lepton number violating decays K+→π−e+e+ and K+→π−μ+μ+ using a data sample collected in 2017. No signals are observed, and upper limits on the branching fractions of these decays of 2.2×10−10 and 4.2×10−11 are obtained, respectively, at 90% confidence level. These upper limits improve on previously reported measurements by factors of 3 and 2, respectively.

Abstract: TiO2 thin films deposited by atomic layer deposition (ALD) at low temperatures (2 parts is known to alter phase transitions and to stabilize crystalline phases. In this work, we have developed low-temperature ALD super-cycles to introduce Al2O3 into TiO2 thin films and photonic crystals. The aluminum oxide content was adjusted by varying the TiO2:Al2O3 internal loop ratio within the ALD super-cycle. Both thin films and inverse opal photonic crystal structures were subjected to thermal treatments ranging from 200 to 1200 °C and were characterized by in- and ex-situ X-ray diffraction, spectroscopic ellipsometry, and spectroscopic reflectance measurements. The results show that the introduction of alumina affects the crystallization and phase transition temperatures of titania as well as the optical properties of the inverse opal photonic crystals (iPhC). The thermal stability of the titania iPhCs was increased by the alumina introduction, maintaining their photonic bandgap even after heat treatment at 900 °C and outperforming the pure titania, with the best results being achieved with the super-cycles corresponding to an estimated alumina content of 26 wt.%.

Abstract: The article presents the developed non-stationary two-dimensional hydrostatic model of wave propagation in the water area of the port of the Bay of Five Hunters, protected by a coastal protection structure in the form of a jetty. The tasks of the work included the development of a model based on the Navier-Stokes and continuity equations and a long-range assessment of the possible impact of the wave situation on marine objects in the port area. At present, the provision of hydrometeorological predictive information is one of the most important factors in the effective operation of port waters. The results are presented graphically using a geographic information system, where different wave heights and maximum wave amplitudes are displayed using a color palette. The consistency of the obtained results is shown, and refraction, diffraction, and interference are noted for the incoming wavefront.

Abstract: Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is one of those psychiatric disorders that are still away from our attention, understanding, assessment and proper management. What could be the reason as by its name and diagnostic criteria an etiological fact is specified, namely a specific traumatic event. In our paper we aim to share and elicit some difficulties that we have met in consulting, diagnostic and management of people, who have suffered a traumatic event. On the base of a review of current psychiatric classifications and ongoing discussions we briefly summarize and discuss important key points. The definition of the event, associated with PTSD is different in DSM-III (introduced for the fist time in a classification of mental disorders), DSM-IV and ICD-10. DSM-IV is less restrictive and includes events that occur more frequently. In DSM-5, PTSD is placed in chapter “Trauma and Stressor-related disorders” and the accent is on the variable clinical characteristics of psychological distress. Emotional reactions to the traumatic event are no longer part of Criterion A. The clinical presentation varies and a number of intrusive psychological and physiological reactions of distress are described. Here comes a problem- the assessment of the trauma itself and the determination of the basic symptoms, when such an event happens. So, the skills to assess the trauma, to determine and competently attribute these symptoms to the specific event and cluster are of great importance. We conclude that a number of risk and prognostic factors should be considered in the process of assessment, diagnosis and management.

Abstract: Background: It has been discussed that being held hostage can have harmful short and often long-term physical, psychological, familial and social effects on the victims. This is a complex area of research and the data is sparse yet. The aim of our study is to present our experience concerning some psychological and psychiatric consequences on Bulgarian seamen victims of pirate's attack long captivity and to suggest a suitable methodology of a psychological investigation in such cases. Methods: Seven Bulgarian hostage survivors underwent comprehensive psychological and psychiatric assessments twenty days after pirate’s captivity release. Results and discussion: In general terms, the psychological and psychiatric impact on the victims is similar to that of being exposed to other serious life-threatening events, including terrorist incidents and natural disasters. All the subjects, who have been examined in our study, reported feelings of detachment and alienation from close others and startle by noises, nightmares and sleep disturbances. Anxiety symptoms, characterized by apprehension, tension and fear in particular situations, and some depressive features (depressive mood, lack of interest and activities, lassitude) on a sub- clinical level were registered. Conclusion: Despite some limitations our report discusses important issues, concerning psychological and psychiatric consequences on Bulgarian seamen victims of pirate’s attack long captivity and present a suitable model of a psychological investigation in such cases and states the need of supportive care of the victims.

45. FEATURES AND PROSPECTS OF FIGHTING WITH INFLATION IN RUSSIA

Abstract: Objective: to analyze problems and specifics of inflation in Russia. Methods: inductive and deductive. Results: the article analyzes the problems and features of inflation in Russia. The characteristic of inflation, the level and causes are given. The dynamics of inflation in Russia (from 2001 till 2013) is analyzed. The most significant factors and processes are determined and analyzed, that determine the level of inflation in the Russian economy. It is shown that the main reasons boosting inflation are high lending rates and annual increase of tariffs of natural monopolies. It is proved that the phenomena and processes that occur in the analyzed period, do not comply with the monetary rule. Measures are proposed to control inflation in the Russian economy. Scientific novelty: new causes of inflation were detected; the Russian specifics of the phenomenon is shown. Practical value: possibility to optimize the measures of state control over the Russian economy.

47. THERMAL DECOMPOSITION OF BARZAS COALS

Abstract: Thermal decomposition processes of two types of Barzas sapromixites - a tile-like modification (“tile”) and a product of its weathering (“exfoliated tile”) - have been investigated in various media (air and helium). It has been shown that in the course of temperature-programmed decomposition (10 °C/min) of these forms of tile-like Barzas sapromixite, in both oxidizing (air) and inert (helium) atmospheres, four main temperature ranges can be distinguished: 1) < 150 °C - removal of adsorbed water (this temperature region is more pronounced for the weathered form of tile-like Barzas sapromixite); 2) 150-350 °C - removal of low molecular weight volatile components of coal in helium environment (with their simultaneous ignition in case of the decomposition in air); 3) 350-550 °C - the temperature region of primary or fast coal pyrolysis in an inert medium; in an oxidative medium, this stage of pyrolysis is accompanied by the burning of released tarry substances; 4) > 550 °C - the temperature region of secondary or high-temperature coal pyrolysis to form semi-coke in helium atmosphere, or the region of burning this semi-coke in air medium. Thermal breakdown processes of “exfoliated tiles” in the temperature range of the most intensive decomposition (350-550 °C) have been found to require less energy consumptions than the similar processes for tile-like Barzas coals (by 72-73 kJ/mol for both gas media of thermal treatment). It is supposed that the differences observed in thermal behavior of Barzas sapromixite forms under investigation may be related to the different contents of mineral components and their effects on the thermal decomposition of coal organic matter.

Abstract: When we want to compare the strength of two materials, we compare the table values of quasi-static strength. However results of some experiments show that the strength ratio of the materials can change with increase in rate of loading. Such "substitution effect" of material strength at different strain rates is studied in this paper. It is shown that one material can have a lower dynamic strength for a higher static strength compared to the other material. Tests of two different materials, tests of mortar and concrete, and tests of concrete with different water content are considered. It is shown that load-carrying capacity of materials and the substitution effect of material strength in a wide range of loading rates can be predicted by the incubation time criterion.
