Abstract Background Rye (Secale cereale L.) is the most widely used related species in wheat genetic breeding, and the introduction of its chromosome fragments into the wheat genome through distant hybridization is essential for enriching the genetic diversity of wheat. Rapid and accurate detection of rye chromatin in the wheat genome is important for distant hybridization. Simple sequence repeats (SSRs) are widely distributed in the genome, and SSRs of different species often exhibit species-specific characteristics. Results In this study, genome-wide SSRs in rye were identified, and their characteristics were outlined. A total of 997,027 SSRs were selected, with a density of 115.97 SSRs/Mb on average. There was no significant difference in the number of SSRs on each chromosome. The number of SSRs on 2R was the highest (15.29%), and the number of SSRs on 1R was the lowest (13.02%). The number of SSRs on each chromosome is significantly correlated with chromosome length. The types of SSR motifs were abundant, and each type of SSR was distributed on 7 chromosomes of rye. The numbers of mononucleotide simple sequence repeats (MNRs), dinucleotide simple sequence repeats (DNRs), and trinucleotide simple sequence repeats (TNRs) were the greatest, accounting for 46.90%, 18.37%, and 22.64% of the total number, respectively. Among the MNRs, the number of G/C repeats and the number of 10 bp motifs were the greatest, accounting for 26.24% and 31.32% of the MNRs, respectively. Based on the SSR sequences, a total of 657 pairs of primers were designed. The PCR results showed that 119 pairs of these primers were rye-specific and could effectively detect rye chromatin in the wheat genome. Moreover, 86 pairs of the primers could also detect one or more specific rye chromosomes. Conclusion These results lay a foundation for both genomic evolution studies of rye and molecular breeding in wheat.

Abstract Head and neck squamous carcinoma (HNSC) is a prevalent malignant disease, with the majority of patients being diagnosed at an advanced stage. Endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) is considered to be a process that promotes tumorigenesis and impacts the tumor microenvironment (TME) in various cancers. The study aims to investigate the predictive value of ERS in HNSC and explore the correlation between ERS-related genes and TME. A series of bioinformatics analyses were carried out based on mRNA and scRNA-seq data from the TCGA and GEO databases. We conducted RT-qPCR and western blot to validate the signature, and performed cell functional experiments to investigate the in vitro biological functions of the gene. We identified 63 ERS-related genes that were associated with outcome and stage in HNSC. A three-gene signature (ATF6, TRIB3, and UBXN6) was developed, which presents predictive value in the prognosis and immunotherapy response of HNSC patients. The high-risk group exhibited a worse prognosis but may benefit from immunotherapy. Furthermore, there was a significant correlation between the signature and immune infiltration. In the high-risk group, fibroblasts were more active in intercellular communication, and more T cells were observed at the end of the sequential phase. The genes in the ERS-related signature were overexpressed in HNSC cells, and the knockdown of TRIB3 significantly inhibited cell proliferation and migration. This study established a novel ERS-related signature that has potential implications for HNSC therapy and the understanding of TME.

Abstract Background Many personnel respond to natural disasters like earthquakes and tsunamis and frequent public health events like Ebola and COVID-19. However, research on emergency assistance personnel remains limited. This study aims to describe the perceived well-being among responders deployed in isolated or emergency international missions while providing practical references to intervene in developing similar missions. Methods For this qualitative phenomenological study, purposive sampling was used following the principle of maximum differentiation to select personnel deployed on an emergency mission for over a year. Data collection continued until data saturation. Phenomenologically semi-structured interviews helped explore the physical and psychological status of the participants with Colaizzi’s method. Results Eleven personnel were interviewed after the mission, with four major themes being identified: ‘perceived somatic change,’ ‘perceived emotional change,’ ‘behavioral change,’ and ‘coping with perceived change.’ Conclusions The mental health status of the emergency assistance personnel was affected by multiple factors from external and internal environments. The current study explored the physical and psychological feelings and emotions of emergency assistance personnel during an emergency mission. The study provided a practical reference for health management under similar missions. Registrations Not registered.

Abstract In conventional superconductors, Bogoliubov quasiparticles and Cooper instability provide a paradigm to describe the superconducting state and the superconducting transition, respectively. However, whether these concepts can be adapted to describe Fe-based superconductors requires rigorous examinations from experiments. Here, we report angle-resolved photoemission studies on single-layer FeSe films grown on SrTiO3 substrate. Due to the improved clarity, our results reveal both particle and hole branches of the energy band with clear quasiparticles. The dispersion and coherence factors are extracted, which unveil the particle-hole mixed Bogoliubov quasiparticles in the superconducting state of the FeSe/STO films. Effective pairing susceptibility is also deduced as a function of temperature, which indicates the persistence of Cooper instability in Fe-based superconductors.

In order to obtain a green and efficient preparation process for carboxymethyl porous starch, carboxymethyl porous starch was prepared by mechanical activation solid phase etherification method, where enzymatically hydrolyzed porous cassava starch was used as raw material, sodium chloroacetate as etherifying agent, and sodium hydroxide as catalyst. Single-factor experiments were conducted to explore the effects of various factors on the degree of substitution (DS) of carboxymethyl porous starch, and the application of carboxymethyl porous starch in soy sauce was discussed. The results showed that the optimal process conditions for the preparation of carboxymethyl porous starch by mechanical activation and solid phase synthesis method were as follows: The molar ratio of porous starch to sodium chloroacetate was 1:1, the mass fraction of sodium hydroxide was 18.8%, the ball milling time was 1.5 h, and the reaction temperature was 50℃. Under these conditions, the highest DS of carboxymethyl porous starch obtained was up to 0.2532. Furthermore, the carboxymethylation reaction of porous starch was confirmed by infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). With the increase of DS of carboxymethyl porous starch, its cold water solubility, water absorption, and adsorption of lemon yellow increased. When DS was 0.2532, the cold water solubility of carboxymethyl porous starch reached 64.94%, the water absorption rate reached 180.73%, and the adsorption amount of lemon yellow reached 2.5086 mg·g−1. The powder soy sauce prepared by carboxymethyl porous starch has better solubility, lower moisture absorption, and higher content of amino acid nitrogen, and is closer to the original soy sauce compared to those prepared by cassava starch and porous starch. Therefore, the mechanical activation and solid phase etherification method can effectively prepare carboxymethyl porous starch, which is simple to operate, environmentally friendly, and highly substitutive, providing a scientific basis for the development and utilization of porous starch.

Micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) have the potential to provide low-power phase shifting in silicon photonics, but techniques for designing low-loss devices are necessary for adoption of the technology. Based on coupled mode theory (CMT), we derive analytical expressions relating the loss and, in particular, the phase-dependent loss, to the geometry of the MEMS phase shifters. The analytical model explains the loss mechanisms of MEMS phase shifters and enables simple optimization procedures. Based on that insight, we propose phase shifter geometries that minimize coupling power out of the waveguide. Minimization of the loss is based on mode orthogonality of a waveguide and phase shifter modes. We numerically model such geometries for a silicon nitride MEMS phase shifter over a silicon nitride waveguide, predicting less than −1.08 dB loss over a 2π range and −0.026 dB loss when optimized for a π range. We demonstrate this design framework with a custom silicon nitride process and achieve −0.48 dB insertion loss and less than 0.05 dB transmission variation over a π phase shift. Our work demonstrates the strength of the coupled mode approach for the design and optimization of MEMS phase shifters.

Objectives: SPARCL1 is a matricellular protein that mediates the cell–matrix interactions and participates in physiological processes such as cell adhesion, differentiation and proliferation. However, its role in chondrocyte and osteoarthritis (OA) progression has not been fully characterized. We aimed to evaluate the effects of SPARCL1 on OA through in vitro and in vivo experiments. Methods: Expression of SPARCL1 was examined in 55 paired human OA samples. Effects of Sparcl1 on chondrocytes were identified in vitro. Intra-articular injection was performed in an anterior cruciate ligament transection (ACLT) mouse model. Alterations of SPARCL1-mediated signaling pathway were identified by RNA-seq analysis. qPCR and western-blot were used to demonstrate the potential signaling pathway. Results: SPARCL1 expression in the OA cartilage was increased compared with undamaged cartilage. Recombinant Sparcl1 protein induced extracellular matrix degradation in chondrocytes. Furthermore, intra-articular injection of recombinant Sparcl1 protein in ACLT mice could promote OA pathogenesis. Mechanistically, Sparcl1 activated TNF/NF-κB pathway and consequently led to increased transcription of inflammatory factors and catabolism genes of cartilage, which could be reversed by NF-κB inhibitor BAY 11–7082. Conclusion: SPARCL1 could promote extracellular matrix degradation and inflammatory response to accelerate OA progression via TNF/NF-κB pathway. The translational potential of this article: The current research could help to gain further insights into the underlying molecular mechanism in OA development, and provides a biological rationale for the use of SPARCL1 as a potential therapeutic target of OA.

Objective To investigate the influencing factors for sleep disorder during parachute training in special operations forces from a unit of the army, and to develop and validate a prediction model. Methods A total of 349 special operations officers and soldiers undergoing parachute training from October to November 2022 were recruited as research objects. Self-made questionnaires, Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) Scale were used to collect their baseline data and assess sleep quality. According to their PSQI score, the participants were divided into sleep disorder group and non-sleep disorder group, and then assigned into a training set (n=228) and a validation set (n=97) in a ratio of 7∶3. Based on the training set, univariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis were used to screen out the factors influencing the risk of sleep disorders. Then R language was employed to draw a nomogram model, and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was plotted to evaluate the discrimination of the model. Calibration curve analysis and Hosmer-Lemeshow goodness-of-fit test were applied to evaluate the accuracy of the model, and decision curve analysis (DCA) was conducted to evaluate the validity of the model. The validation set was used for internal validation. Results There were totally 325 participants with valid data, and all of them were male. They had a total PSQI score of 4.26±3.30, and 62 of them (19.1%) had sleep disorders, including 46 (14.1%) of mild, 14 (4.3%) of moderate, and 2 (0.6%) of severe sleep disorders. Based on the 228 participants in the training set, the results of univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses showed the number of parachute jumping (OR=0.390, 95%CI: 0.185~0.811), smoking (OR=2.980, 95%CI: 1.352~7.028), anxiety state (OR=3.280, 95%CI: 1.434~7.570), and chronic pain (OR=4.090, 95%CI: 1.952~8.690) were independent influencing factors of sleep disorder in these parachute officers and soldiers. A risk prediction model for sleep disorder was constructed, and the area under the curve (AUC) value was 0.778, with an optimal threshold of 0.163, a specificity of 63.6% and a sensitivity of 84.1%, with good discrimination. The quasi-curve and Hosmer-Lemeshow goodness-of-fit test (Chi-sqaure=8.789, P=0.456) showed that the model had good accuracy, and the clinical decision curve indicated that the prediction model had good clinical applicability. The model was confirmed to be valid with internal verification based on the validation set of 97 participants. Conclusion Special operations forces with parachute training have different degrees of sleep disorders. Number of parachute jumping, smoking, anxiety and chronic pain will aggravate sleep disturbances.

Abstract Background Interleukin-17 (IL-17) has been hypothesized to be involved in ischemic cardiovascular disease (ICVD). However, the association of IL-17 with ICVD remained unclear. The aim of this study was to systematically analyze the available evidence regarding the association between IL-17 and ICVD. Methods We searched the PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and Embase databases up to October 2023 to identify publications on the association between IL-17 and ICVD. The merged results were analyzed using a random effects model for meta-analysis and subgroup analysis. Results A total of 955 publications were initially identified in our search and screened; six studies were eventually included in the analysis. The average age of study participants was 60.3 ± 12.6 years and 65.5% were men. There was a high degree of heterogeneity among studies. The results showed that IL-17 level were higher in the case group than those in the control group (standardized mean difference, SMD = 1.60, 95% confidence interval (95% CI): 0.53–2.66, P = 0.003). In sensitivity analysis, the merged results showed good robustness. Additionally, subgroup analysis showed that race and ethnicity, sample size, and detection methods were significant factors influencing heterogeneity in the published studies. Conclusion Our finding revealed that increased IL-17 level contributed to the development of ICVD, suggesting IL-17 as a potential risk marker. Further research is needed to establish IL-17 as a therapeutic biomarker of ICVD.

Abstract To study the effects of gas hydrates on the prevention and control of coal and gas protrusions, this paper reports the results of acoustic emission experiments on coal bodies containing gas hydrates with different saturation levels. The results showed that few acoustic emission events were generated in the elasticity stages of coal bodies containing gas hydrates, and the first sudden increase in the number of ringing counts generally occurred before and after the yielding point. Additionally, the acoustic emission events in the yielding stage were more active, and the cumulative number of ringing counts increased faster. The peak ringing counts appeared around the damage point, and a small number of acoustic emission events were still generated after destruction of the coal samples. The cumulative ringing counts decreased linearly with increasing saturation. The effect of saturation on the cumulative ringing counts in the elasticity stage of the gas hydrate-containing coal samples was small, but the difference between the cumulative ringing counts in the yielding stage and those in the destruction stage was larger. The total cumulative ringing counts and the cumulative ringing counts during each stage for the gas hydrate-containing coal samples decreased with increasing enclosure pressure. The energy and amplitude of the loading process were consistent with the trend for the ringing counts. The acoustic emission ringing counts of gas-containing coals were greater than those of gas hydrate-containing coals in the yielding and destructing stages.

Abstract Kagome superconductors AV3Sb5 (A = K, Rb and Cs) have attracted much recent attention due to the coexistence of multiple exotic orders. Among them, the charge density wave (CDW) order has been shown to host various unconventional behaviors. Here, we investigate the CDW order by a combination of both bulk and surface doping methods. While element substitutions in bulk doping change both carriers and the crystal lattice, the surface doping primarily tunes the carrier concentration. As such, our results reveal a two-dimensional phase diagram of the CDW in doped CsV3Sb5. In the lightly bulk doped regime, the existence of CDW order is reversible by tuning the carrier concentration. But excessive bulk doping permanently destroys the CDW, regardless of the carrier doping level. These results provide insights to the origin of the CDW from both electronic and structural degrees of freedom. They also open an avenue for manipulating the exotic CDW order in Kagome superconductors.

The prevalence of drought events worldwide emphasizes the importance of screening and cultivating drought-adapted crops. In this study, 206 germplasm resources were used as materials, dry weight as target trait, and two genotyping methods as criteria to evaluate drought adaptability at the seedling establishment stage. The results showed a significant decrease in average dry weight of the tested germplasm resources (from 746.90 mg to 285.40 mg) and rich variation in the responses of dry weight among each genotype to drought (CV=61.14%). In traditional evaluation method, drought resistance coefficient (DC), geometric mean productivity index (GMP), mean productivity index (MP), stress susceptibility index (SSI), stress tolerance index (STI), and tolerance index (TOL) also exhibited diversity in tested genotypes (CV>30%). However, these indices showed varying degrees of explanation for dry weight under stress and non-stress environments and failed to differentiate drought adaptability among genotypes clearly. In new evaluation method, four stress indices were developed to quantify barley seedling production and stability capacities. Compared to traditional stress indices, the stress production index (SI) explained dry weight more comprehensively under stress conditions (R2 = 0.98), while the ideal production index (II) explained dry weight better under non-stress conditions (R2 = 0.89). Furthermore, the potential index (PI) and elasticity index (EI) eliminated disparities in traditional stress indices and comprehensively clarified the contribution of elasticity and potential to production capacity under drought stress. Ultimately, through grading evaluation and cluster analysis, the tested germplasm resources were effectively categorized, and 11 genotypes were identified as suitable for cultivation in arid areas. Overall, the comprehensive evaluation method based on the newly developed stress indices surpasses the traditional method in screening drought adaptability of crops and serves as a vital tool for identifying high-stability and high-production capacities genotypes in various environments, which is expected to provide practical guidance for barley planting and breeding in arid areas.

ABSTRACT In this study, we investigated the prevalence of Bartonella in deer from Qilian County, Qinghai Province, China. Blood samples were collected from 69 red deer, 40 white-lipped deer, and 27 sika deer. The detection of Bartonella spp. has been conducted. The overall prevalence of Bartonella was 33.6% (46/135). Species-specific prevalence was 50.72% in red deer (35/69), 20.00% in white-lipped deer (8/40), and 11.11% in sika deer (3/27). There were significant differences in the prevalence rates among the different species of deer. The amplicon sequence comparison revealed a high homology of the ruminant-associated Bartonella spp. Nanopore sequencing further confirmed the results. Bartonella reads were presented in each of the qPCR-positive samples. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that the Bartonella sequences detected in deer blood were closely related to ruminant-borne Bartonella spp. In summary, we reported the Bartonella prevalence of different deer species in Qinghai, and there were at least one species of ruminant-associated Bartonella, B. schoenbuchensis.IMPORTANCEThis is the first report about Bartonella infections in the deer population from China. We found that there were two species of Bartonella and an unidentified species of Bartonella among the unculturing strains carried by these deer populations. We first used Nanopore sequencing to detect Bartonella from deer blood samples and indicated that Nanopore sequencing is beneficial to detect pathogens due to its advantage of real-time and high sensitivity.

The high proportion of renewable energy and power electronic equipment is emerging as a significant trend and key characteristic of the power system development driven by the dual promotion of the energy transformation and scientific technological advancement. Major modifications have been made to the dynamic behavior of the new power system. The traditional small signal stability analysis approach is difficult to apply, and there are still urgent issues to be resolved for the quick change of operating conditions. In this paper, a Lyapunov direct analysis method of gradient dynamic deviation based on phasor measurement unit (PMU) data is proposed to analyze the small signal stability of the new power system. First, the PMU data matrix is used to reduce the dimension to obtain the low dimension matrix, which is substituted into the power system matrix model with a doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG). The diagonal matrix is obtained by solving the Lyapunov equation, and the positive definiteness of the matrix is determined to judge the system stability. Then, the dynamic deviation of corresponding state variable is calculated by solving the obtained diagonal matrix. The gradient descent method is applied to the corresponding state variable curve to iterate the extreme point value of curve. The time-weighted dynamic deviation of the whole oscillation process is calculated by time weighting, which provides guidance for the subsequent configuration position of damping stability controller, i.e., power system stabilizer (PSS). The method can improve the small interference stability of the system. The effectiveness of the fast stability analysis of the new power system is verified by simulations of the new England 10-machine 39-bus system with DFIG.

Large-scale distributed renewable energy connected to the rural distribution network has given birth to a new rural distribution system with a high proportion of new energy typical characteristics, and the optimal scheduling of the new rural distribution system has become an important issue to ensure the safe and stable operation of the power grid. This paper proposes a method of active-reactive power collaborative optimization scheduling for rural power distribution system with a high proportion of renewable energy. Firstly, the active support capability evaluation model is established, and the active power support capability and reactive power support capability of rural power distribution system are quantitatively evaluated, which provides data basis and boundary conditions for the scheduling part. Then, considering power-loss cost, distribution network operation cost, and penalty cost, a method of active-reactive power collaborative optimization scheduling for rural power distribution systems with a high proportion of renewable energy is proposed. Finally, the active support capability evaluation and regulation platform of the rural power distribution system is built to provide technical support services for the safe and stable operation of the rural power distribution system. Given the problems of overload and overvoltage faced by rural power distribution systems with a high proportion of renewable energy, this paper aims to solve the key technical challenges of optimization and regulation of new rural power distribution systems. The results show that the optimized control method proposed in this paper has better security and economy, and is conducive to promoting the construction and operation of the new rural power distribution system.

Abstract Near-surface seismic shear wave is a basic tool for seismic investigations. However, its frequency-dependent property is not fully investigated, especially by the in situ observation method. Here, we develop the seismic interferometry with a moving frequency window to process the natural seismic signals recorded by the KiK-net network. It is observed that the phase velocity of the shear wave decreases sharply as the frequency increases in the low-frequency range, and remains constant in the high-frequency range. The observed dispersion phenomenon presents a challenge to existing site effect prediction theories, while also providing an observational reference for understanding how the shear wave propagates in near-surface sediment. Background: Experimental studies have shown that disinfection byproducts (DBPs) induce coagulotoxicity, but human evidence is scarce. Objective: This study aimed to explore the relationships of DBP exposures with blood coagulation parameters. Methods: Among 858 women from the Tongji Reproductive and Environmental (TREE) study, urinary dichloroacetic acid (DCAA) and trichloroacetic acid (TCAA) were detected as internal biomarkers of DBP exposures. We measured activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), fibrinogen (Fbg), international normalized ratio (INR), prothrombin time (PT), and thrombin time (TT) as blood coagulation parameters. Multivariable linear regression models were utilized to estimate the relationships between urinary DCAA and TCAA and blood coagulation parameters. The effect modifications by demographic and lifestyle characteristics were further explored. Results: Elevated tertiles of urinary DCAA concentrations were associated with increased PT and INR (11.29%, 95% CI: 1.66%, 20.92% and 0.99%, 95% CI: 0.08%, 1.90% for the third vs. first tertile, respectively; both P for trends < 0.05). Stratification analysis showed that the positive associations were only observed among younger (< 30 years), leaner (body mass index < 24.0 kg/m2), and non-passive smoking women. Moreover, elevated tertiles of urinary TCAA concentrations in positive associations with PT and INR were observed among younger women (17.89%, 95% CI: 2.50%, 33.29% and 1.82%, 95% CI: 0.34%, 3.30% for the third vs. first tertile, respectively; both P for trends < 0.05) but not among older women (both P for interactions < 0.05). Conclusion: Higher levels of urinary DCAA and TCAA are associated with prolonged clotting time among women.

The global prevalence of obesity has nearly tripled in the past 40 years and continues to rise at an alarming rate. High fat and high carbohydrate diets can cause gut microbiota disturbance and impairment of intestinal barrier function in obese individuals. Dysbiosis of the gut microbiota and its metabolites crossing the intestinal barrier lead to insulin resistance, imbalance in energy metabolism, reduced fat browning capacity and increased levels of inflammatory factors, which in turn induce chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular diseases. In this paper, the molecular mechanism of obesity mediated by the gut microbiota is systematically elucidated. Based on this, we propose that the intestinal microecology can be regulated by supplementing probiotics and prebiotics or by changing lifestyle and dietary pattern, which in turn will help to prevent and control obesity.

The sago starch was mechanically activated by a stirring-type ball mill as pretreatment, and the octenyl succinic acid starch ester was prepared by the esterification agent octenyl succinic anhydride. By adopting the degree of substitution (DS) as evaluating parameters, activation time, reaction time, the amount of octenyl succinic anhydride, reaction tem-perature, and pH on the esterification of sago starch were investigated respectively. The results indicated that mechanical activation significantly improved the esterification of sago starch octenyl succinic anhydride. Under the same reaction conditions, the degree of substitution and reaction efficiency of activated starch increased significantly. Through the orthogonal test, the optimal conditions for the preparation of activated 1.0 h starch ester could be determined: The reaction time was 2.0 h, the amount of octenyl succinic anhydride was 3%, the pH value was 8.0, and the temperature was 35 ℃. Under such conditions, the degree of substitution of starch ester prepared by esterification was 0.02294, the reaction efficiency was 98.01%. The results of the FTIR, XRD and SEM indicated that the FTIR spectrum of octenyl succinic anhydride sago starch showed new absorption peaks at 1570 cm−1 and 1712 cm−1, the crystallinity of starch decreased, and the surface of starch granules was damaged, with large holes appeared in the middle of starch granules. Thus the esterification reaction of sago starch was further confirmed. The emulsifying property of octenyl succnic anhydride modified strach with substitution degree of 0.02294 was 26.43%, and the emulsifying stability was 24.10%, which were superior to those of the original sago starch ester.

Abstract Background The “In–Out–In” (IOI) posterosuperior screw was common in screw fixations of femoral neck fractures. The impacts of the IOI screw on the blood supply of the femoral head have not yet been clarified. The nutrient foramen was damaged when the screw was present in their corresponding cortex surface. This study aimed to evaluate the damage degrees of the nutrient foramina in the femoral neck as the IOI posterosuperior screw was placed in different posterosuperior locations. Methods One hundred and eight unpaired dry human cadaveric proximal femurs were scanned by a three-dimensional scanner. Digital data obtained from the proximal femur surface were employed for subsequent analysis. All nutrient foramina in the femoral neck were identified and marked in each subject. A simulation of the anteroposterior, lateral, and axial views was then performed, and regions of interest (ROIs) for IOI posterosuperior screws, with 6.5 mm diameter, were determined in the posterosuperior femoral neck on the axial graphs. Nutrient foramina were counted and analyzed in ROIs and femoral neck, and its damage from the IOI posterosuperior screw was also calculated in different conditions of screw placement. Paired t-tests were used for comparative analyses before and after damage. Results Most nutrient foramina were located in the subcapital region and the least in the basicervical region in the femoral neck, while the most were located in the transcervical and the least in the subcapital in the ROIs. In addition, most nutrient foramina in ROIs were located in the superior–posterior area of the femoral neck. Abstract Van Hove singularity (VHS) has been considered as a driving source for unconventional superconductivity. A VHS in two-dimensional (2D) materials consists of a saddle point connecting electron-like and hole-like bands. In a rare case, when a VHS appears at Fermi level, both electron-like and hole-like conduction can coexist, giving rise to an enhanced density of states as well as an attractive component of Coulomb interaction for unconventional electronic pairing. However, this van Hove scenario is often destroyed by an incorrect chemical potential or competing instabilities. Here, by using angle-resolved photoemission measurements, we report the observation of a VHS perfectly aligned with the Fermi level in a kagome superconductor CsV3-x Ta x Sb5 (x ~ 0.4), in which a record-high superconducting transition temperature is achieved among all the current variants of AV3Sb5 (A = Cs, Rb, K) at ambient pressure. Doping dependent measurements reveal the important role of van Hove scenario in boosting superconductivity, and spectroscopic-imaging scanning tunneling microscopy measurements indicate a distinct superconducting state in this system.

This study explores the challenges and advances in the estimation of the state of charge (SOC) of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), which are crucial to optimizing their performance and lifespan. This review focuses on four main techniques of SOC estimation: experimental measurement, modeling approach, data-driven approach, and joint estimation approach, highlighting the limitations and potential inaccuracies of each method. This study suggests a combined approach, incorporating correction parameters and closed-loop feedback, to improve measurement accuracy. It introduces a multi-physics model that considers temperature, charging rate, and aging effects and proposes the integration of models and algorithms for optimal estimation of SOC. This research emphasizes the importance of considering temperature and aging factors in data-driven approaches. It suggests that the fusion of different methods could lead to more accurate SOC predictions, an important area for future research.

Introduction: Sepsis-mediated acute lung injury (ALI) is a critical clinical condition. Artesunate (AS) is a sesquiterpene lactone endoperoxide that was discovered in Artemisia annua, which is a traditional Chinese herb. AS has a broad set of biological and pharmacological actions; however, its protective effect on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced ALI remains unclear. Methods: LPS-mediated ALI was induced in rats through bronchial LPS inhalation. Then NR8383 cells were treated with LPS to establish an in vitro model. Further, we administered different AS doses in vivo and in vitro. Results: AS administration significantly decreased LPS-mediated pulmonary cell death and inhibited pulmonary neutrophil infiltration. Additionally, AS administration increased SIRT1 expression in pulmonary sections. Administration of a biological antagonist or shRNA-induced reduction of SIRT1 expression significantly inhibited the protective effect of AS against LPS-induced cellular injury, pulmonary dysfunction, neutrophil infiltration, and apoptosis. This demonstrates that enhanced SIRT1 expression is crucially involved in the observed protective effects. Conclusion: Our findings could suggest the use of AS for treating lung disorders through a mechanism involving SIRT1 expression.

Cell-free circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) is synthesized by tumor cells, including metastatic tumors, and circulates in the bloodstream. Evidence suggests that ctDNA is a potential predictive and prognostic biomarker for colorectal cancer (CRC), but its predictive efficacy in detecting CRC liver metastasis (CLM) remains unclear. Additionally, its utility in the clinical setting needs further investigation. We conducted a meta-analysis to determine the utility of ctDNA as a biomarker for predicting the prognosis of CLM and investigate the relationship between CLM and ctDNA positivity. A literature search was performed in electronic databases to identify relevant studies published up to March 19, 2022. We retrieved data on overall survival (OS), disease-free survival (DFS), and recurrence-free survival (RFS) for both ctDNA-positive and ctDNA-negative colorectal liver metastasis (CLM) patients from the selected articles. Hazard ratios (HRs) were also calculated for these survival outcomes analysis was also performed. The stability of the combined meta-analysis was verified by sensitivity analysis and publication bias evaluation. Ten trials were included, and 615 patients were evaluated. In patients with CLM, pooled HRs revealed a substantial link between ctDNA positivity and RFS/DFS. Subgroup analysis revealed that ctDNA had a prospective detection value. Sensitivity analysis and publication bias evaluation indicated stable results. Although the results on pooled HR for OS suggested that ctDNA-positive patients had a shorter survival time, their pooled HRs had a relatively evident heterogeneity, and sensitivity analysis and publication bias evaluation indicated that pooled HRs were extremely unstable. In conclusion, our results demonstrate that ctDNA appears to be a prognostic biomarker for resectable CLM patients.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak has resulted in countless infections and deaths worldwide, posing increasing challenges for the health care system. The use of artificial intelligence to assist in diagnosis not only had a high accuracy rate but also saved time and effort in the sudden outbreak phase with the lack of doctors and medical equipment. This study aimed to propose a weakly supervised COVID-19 classification network (W-COVNet). This network was divided into three main modules: weakly supervised feature selection module (W-FS), deep learning bilinear feature fusion module (DBFF) and Grad-CAM++ based network visualization module (Grad-Ⅴ). The first module, W-FS, mainly removed redundant background features from computed tomography (CT) images, performed feature selection and retained core feature regions. The second module, DBFF, mainly used two symmetric networks to extract different features and thus obtain rich complementary features. The third module, Grad-Ⅴ, allowed the visualization of lesions in unlabeled images. A fivefold cross-validation experiment showed an average classification accuracy of 85.3%, and a comparison with seven advanced classification models showed that our proposed network had a better performance.

Laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) is an aggressive and lethal malignant neoplasm with extremely poor prognoses. Accumulating evidence has indicated that preferentially expressed antigen in melanoma (PRAME) is correlated with several kinds of cancers. However, there is little direct evidence to substantiate the biological function of PRAME in LSCC. The purpose of the current study is to explore the oncogenic role of PRAME in LSCC. PRAME expression was analyzed in 57 pairs of LSCC tumor tissue samples through quantitative real-time PCR, and the correlation between PRAME and clinicopathological features was analyzed. The result indicated that PRAME was overexpressed in the LSCC patients and correlated with the TNM staging and lymphatic metastasis. The biological functions and molecular mechanism of PRAME in LSCC progression were investigated through in vitro and in vivo assays. Functional studies confirmed that PRAME facilitated the proliferation, invasion, migration, and epithelial–mesenchymal transition of LSCC cells, and PRAME also promoted tumor growth in vivo. HDAC5 was identified as an upstream regulator that can affect the expression of PRAME. Moreover, PRAME played the role at least partially by activating PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathways. The above findings elucidate that PRAME may be a valuable oncogene target, contributing to the diagnosis and therapy of LSCC.

Fractional‐order vector vortex beams (VVBs) have recently been demonstrated as new carriers of fractional‐strength optical vortices. However, the inherent mechanism of the new vortex beams, formed by the combination of both unstable states, to propagate stably in free space requires clarification. In this study, this scientific problem is solved by revealing the physical essence of propagable fractional‐strength optical vortices in free space. Therefore, three new viewpoints regarding these unique vortex beams are proposed: Abbe's diffraction limit, the phase evolution of the vortex beam, and the binary time vector property of phase. First, due to Abbe's diffraction limit, the inherent polarization modes are intertwined, thereby maintaining the entire unique vortex beam in free space. In the second case, the phase evolution of the vortex beam is the physical cause for the polarization rotation of fractional‐order VVBs. Third, the phase is not merely a scalar attribute of the light beam and demonstrates a binary time vector property. This study provides entirely different physical viewpoints on the phase of the vortex beam and Abbe's diffraction limit, which may deepen the knowledge on the behavior of light beams in classical optics.

Cisplatin is a chemotherapeutant widely used in treating solid tumors, with the common side effect of acute kidney injury (AKI). Developing effective useful agent for preventing or treating cisplatin-induced AKI is of great importance. In this study, we investigate the protective effect of vaccarin, a chemical entity of flavonoid glycoside, against cisplatin-induced AKI. Cisplatin-treated C57BL/6J mice and human kidney-2 (HK-2) cells were used as the model of cisplatin-induced AKI. The levels of blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatine (Cr) levels and periodic acid-Schiff staining (PAS) scores decreased when vaccarin was administrated. Vaccarin had no impact on renal platinum accumulation, which was detected by the ICP-MS 6 h after cisplatin injection. Moreover, vaccarin can significantly alleviate the product of reactive oxygen species and the expression of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) oxidase 4 (NOX4) in cisplatin-induced AKI, both in vivo and in vitro. In addition, vaccarin decreased the receptor-interacting protein kinase 1 (RIPK1) related programmed necrosis (necroptosis), cell apoptosis (shown by the protein levels of cleaved-caspase3 and flow cytometry) and inflammation (shown by the decreased levels of NLRP3, p-P65 and the mRNA of several inflammatory factors). NOX4 inhibitor GLX351322 (GLX) and NOX4 kowndown by siRNA have equivalent protective effect of vaccarin in vitro. When vaccarin was administered together with GLX or NOX4 siRNA, this protective effect of vaccarin did not further increase, as indicating by the index of oxidative stress, cell viability, necroptosis and apoptosis. In conclusion, vaccarin can alleviate cisplatin-induced AKI via inhibiting NOX4.

Background and objectivesThe relationship between the tumor microenvironment and the network of key signaling pathways in cancer plays a key role in the occurrence and development of tumors. Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) are important inflammatory cells in the tumor microenvironment and play an important role in tumorigenesis and progression. Macrophages in malignant tumors, mainly the M2 subtype, promote tumor progression by producing cytokines and down-regulating anti-inflammatory immune responses. Several articles have investigated the effect of macrophages on the sensitivity of cancer chemotherapeutic agents, but few such articles have been reported in cholangiocarcinoma, so we investigated the effect of M2 macrophage on the sensitivity of cholangiocarcinoma cells to Lenvatinib compared to M1.MethodsTHP-1 monocytes were polarized to M0 macrophage by phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA) and then induced to differentiate into M1 and M2 macrophages by LPS, IFN-γ and IL-4 and IL-13, respectively. Macrophages and cholangiocarcinoma cells were co-cultured prior to 24 hours of Lenvatinib administration, cancer cell apoptosis was detected by western-blot, FACS analysis of Annexin V and PI staining. Furthermore, we use xCELLigence RTCA SP Instrument (ACEA Bio-sciences) to monitor cell viability of Lenvatinib administration in co-culture of cholangiocarcinoma cells and macrophages. After tumorigenesis in immunodeficient mice, Lenvatinib was administered, and the effects of M2 on biological characteristics of cholangiocarcinoma cells were investigated by immuno-histochemistry.ResultsmRNA and protein expression of M1 and M2 markers confirmed the polarization of THP-1 derived macrophages, which provided a successful and efficient model of monocyte polarization to TAMs. Lenvatinib-induced apoptosis of cholangiocarcinoma cells was significantly reduced when co-cultured with M2 macrophage, whereas apoptosis of cholangiocarcinoma cells co-cultured with M1 macrophage was increased. In the CDX model, Lenvatinib-induced cancer cell apoptosis was markedly reduced, and proliferative cells increased in the presence of M2 macrophages. Angiogenesis related factors was significantly increased in cholangiocarcinoma cells co-cultured with M2.ConclusionCompared with M1, M2 macrophages can inhibit the anti-tumor effect of Lenvatinib on cholangiocarcinoma through immune regulation, which may be related to the tumor angiogenesis factor effect of M2 macrophage.

The dramatic changes in global climate on human health have been extremely severe. The immune disorder caused by low temperature and high humidity (LTHH) have become a severe public health issue. Clinically, Jingfang granule (JF) has the effect of dispelling cold and eliminating dampness, and is widely used in the treatment of cold caused by wind and cold, autoimmune diseases, and COVID-19 with cold-dampness stagnating in the lung pattern. Our study aims to elucidate the effect of JF on LTHH-induced immune disorders in mice as well as the underlying mechanisms. In this study, JF increased the spleen index, improved fecal character, repaired the intestinal barrier and alleviated intestinal inflammatory responses. Most importantly, JF ameliorated immune disorder in LTHH mice, which was manifested primarily by the significant increase in gdT, CD8+ Tcm, and CD8+ Tem cells, as well as the decrease in TH1, TH17, CD4+ Tem1, CD4+ Tem2, immature NK, mature NK cells, and M1-like macrophages. Interestingly, the JF treatment not only regulated the gut microbiota by decreasing the abundance of harmful bacteria, as well as up-regulating the abundance of beneficial bacteria, but also ameliorated the metabolic disorders by reversing the levels of fecal metabolites to normality. The results of the correlation analysis demonstrated a significant association among gut microbiota, fecal metabolites and immune cells. In addition, JF inhibited the TLR4/NF-κB/NLRP3 pathway in LTHH mice. In conclusion, our results suggested that JF alleviated inflammation and immune disorders in LTHH mice by restoring gut microbiota and fecal metabolism.

ObjectiveTo investigate distribution of integron and extended-spectrum β-lactamase produced by Salmonella isolated from food and clinical samples， and explore the relationship between different drug resistance genes and multidrug resistance.MethodsPhenotype of ESBL-producing strains were confirmed by K-B method. The ESBL related drug resistance genes （blaTEM， blaSHV， blaCTX） and the mobile element integron in Salmonella were amplified by polymerase chain reaction. The amplified products of integron variable region were sequenced and the drug resistance gene cassettes were analyzed.ResultsThree hundred and nine Salmonella strains were isolated. A total of 138 Salmonella strains were isolated from food， including poultry （n=96）， raw pork （n=19） and aquatic products （n=23）. One hundred and seventy one Salmonella strains were isolated from clinical samples. The drug resistance rate of 309 Salmonella strains was 78.3%， and the multidrug resistance rate was 41.1%. The antimicrobial resistance rate of poultry was the highest. A total of 56 ESBL-producing strains were detected， of which 35 strains carried the ESBL genes （15 strains carried blaTEM； 10 strains carried blaCTX， 10 strains carried blaTEM and blaCTX ）. The blaSHV gene was not detected. A total of 98 strains which carried class I integron gene were detected， and the positive rate was 31.7%. Among the 98 strains， 54 strains carried drug resistance gene cassette. Forty seven strains carried dfrA and aadA， 1 strain carried linG-aadA22， the rest were empty gene cassette. The multi-drug resistance rates of integron positive and ESBL-producing strains were as high as 98.0% and 89.3%， respectively. The positive rate of integron in ESBL-producing strains was 76.8% （43/56）.ConclusionThe class I integron and ESBL-producing Salmonella were widely distributed in this area. The genotypes of ESBL-producing strains were mainly blaTEM and blaCTX. Both integron and ESBL-producing strains were associated with multidrug resistance. The dug resistance situation of Salmonella in this area was serious， and it was particularly necessary to pay attention to the standardized use of antibiotics in poultry breeding.

Abstract Background Cancer-testis antigens (CTAs) are often expressed in tumor and testicular tissues but not in other normal tissues. To date, there has been no comprehensive study of the expression and clinical significance of CTA genes associated with endometrial cancer (EC) development. Additionally, the clinical relevance, biological role, and molecular mechanisms of the CTA gene TTK protein kinase (TTK) in EC are yet to be fully understood. Methods Using bioinformatics methods, we comprehensively investigated the genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenetic changes associated with aberrant TTK overexpression in EC samples from the TCGA database. We further investigated the mechanisms of the lower survival associated with TTK dysregulation using single-cell data of EC samples from the GEO database. Cell functional assays were used to confirm the biological roles of TTK in EC cells. Results We identified 80 CTA genes that were more abundant in EC than in normal tissues, and high expression of TTK was significantly linked with lower survival in EC patients. Furthermore, ROC analysis revealed that TTK could accurately distinguish stage I EC tissues from benign endometrial samples, suggesting that TTK has the potential to be a biomarker for early EC detection. We found TTK overexpression was more prevalent in EC patients with high-grade, advanced tumors, serous carcinoma, and TP53 alterations. Furthermore, in EC tissue, TTK expression showed a strong positive correlation with EMT-related genes. With single-cell transcriptome data, we identified a proliferative cell subpopulation with high expression of TTK and known epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT)-related genes and transcription factors. When proliferative cells were grouped according to TTK expression levels, the overexpressed genes in the TTKhigh group were shown to be functionally involved in the control of chemoresistance. Utilizing shRNA to repress TTK expression in EC cells resulted in substantial decreases in cell proliferation, invasion, EMT, and chemoresistance. Further research identified microRNA-21 (miR-21) as a key downstream regulator of TTK-induced EMT and chemoresistance. Finally, the TTK inhibitor AZ3146 was effective in reducing EC cell growth and invasion and enhancing the apoptosis of EC cells generated by paclitaxel. Conclusion Our findings establish the clinical significance of TTK as a new biomarker for EC and an as-yet-unknown carcinogenic function. This present study proposes that the therapeutic targeting of TTK might provide a viable approach for the treatment of EC.

BackgroundExperimental studies have shown that radiofrequency electromagnetic waves emitted by mobile phones can cause adverse effects on male reproductive health, including decreased semen quality and altered sex hormones. However, the results of epidemiological studies on the relationship between mobile phone use and male semen quality are inconsistent. Furthermore, there are few epidemiological studies on the association of mobile phone use with sex hormones.ObjectiveTo explore the associations of mobile phone use with male semen quality and sex hormones.MethodsA total of 2045 men visited the reproductive medicine center of a hospital in Wuhan and ordered infertility examination were recruited from December 2018 to January 2020. Information on mobile phone use was obtained using a questionnaire. Among them, 1232 and 1694 men were eligible for semen quality analyses and sex hormone analyses, respectively. Multiple linear and logistic regression models were used to analyze the associations of mobile phone use with male semen quality and sex hormones.ResultsAfter adjusting for potential confounders, there was no statistically significant associations of mobile phone use with sperm progressive motility, sperm total motility, sperm concentration, sperm count, or serum luteinizing hormone (P>0.05). However, serum total testosterone showed a declined tendency with increasing daily duration of mobile phone use (Ptrend=0.08). Compared with men with daily mobile phone use of 0-2 h, men with daily mobile phone use of 2.1-5, 5.1-8, and >8 h showed decreased serum total testosterone concentrations by 6.29% (95%CI: 0.40%-11.84%), 6.01% (95%CI: 0.60%-12.19%), and 7.87% (95%CI: 0.40%-14.79%), respectively.ConclusionMobile phone use is not associated with male semen quality and serum luteinizing hormone, but increasing daily duration of mobile phone use is potentially associated with a tendency to lower male serum total testosterone.

Post-stroke neuroimaging is the key to the treatment of brain stroke. Typically, segmenting lesions manually is not only time-consuming, but limited by the varying morphology of lesions and the similarity of tissue intensity distribution. In recent years, with the rapidly and widely applying of deep learning technology in medical imaging, it becomes the one of the hot-spots. However, most stroke segmentation techniques could not utilize the structural symmetry information efficiently. Moreover, there are several problems, such as diverse lesions location, large changes of scale and unclear boundaries of lesions. To address these shortcomings, this paper presents a novel stroke segmentation model, called BSSNet. Firstly, the standard convolution of U-Net is replaced by the Depth-Wise Separable Convolution(DWSC) and the residual connection operation is used to reduce the loss of feature information in the encoder and decoder. Secondly, between the encoder and decoder, this paper introduces the Multi-Scale Channel Attention(MSCA) module to effectively improve the segmentation performance. Finally, the Attention-Guided Connection(AGC) module takes place of the original connection operation, which can select more context information from features with low-level guided by the features with high-level. To demonstrate the advantages of the proposed BSSNet, the comparison experiments are conducted on the open Anatomical Tracings of Lesions After Stroke(ATLAS) datasets. Experiment results shows that our model outperforms the state-of-the-art segmentation methods both in the quantitative metrics and visual effects.

In the global outbreak of corona-virus disease (COVID-19), it is of foremost priority to find an efficient and faster diagnosis method to reduce the transmission rate of the COVID-19 disease. Recently, deep learning-based detection methods have been proposed as a potential diagnostic tool, because there is much essential information in the radio-logical images for COVID-19 detection. This paper intends to develop a hybrid deep neural network (COVID19-ResCapsNet), using the X-ray images, to predict the risk at the onset of disease in patients suffering from COVID-19. The proposed COVID19-ResCapsNet method consists of two steps. The first step is mainly to extract features with the improved Residual feature extraction network. In the final step, several Capsule Networks are employed to classify COVID-19, and Non COVID-19. The proposed method is evaluated on two CXR image datasets(Dataset-1: 4236 images and Dataset-2: 2250 images) and the classification accuracy can reach 0.9988 on Dataset-1 and 0.9933 on Dataset-2 for binary classification cases. The results are compared with several state-of-the-art pre-trained classification models. The effects of two important hyper parameters: different optimizer and batch size, have also been investigated. Hence, the proposed COVID-19 detection model is effective and can be used as the supplementary tool in clinical application.

Located in the Heilongjiang (Amur) River in north-east Asia, spanning four countries, plays a crucial role as an international border river, and its meteorological changes significantly impact the variation in water resources in the basin. This study utilizes daily average temperature and precipitation data from 282 meteorological stations in the Heilongjiang (Amur) River Basin and its surrounding areas for the period 1980–2022. The analysis employs spatial interpolation, change point testing, and model construction prediction methods. The results indicate a significant increasing trend in both overall temperature and precipitation changes within the Heilongjiang (Amur) River Basin. At the spatial scale, the annual warming rate increases gradually from the southeastern coastal region to the northwestern plateau region, while the rate of precipitation increase decreases from the southern area towards its surroundings. Temporally, the warming amplitude during the growing season decreases gradually from east to west, and the trend in precipitation changes during the growing season aligns with the overall annual precipitation trend. During the non-growing season, the warming trend shows a decrease in the plains and an increase in the plateau, while precipitation increase concentrates in the central and southern plains, and precipitation decrease predominantly occurs in the northwestern plateau region. Temperature and precipitation change points occurred in the years 2001 and 2012, respectively. In precipitation prediction, the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model exhibits higher accuracy, with R (Pearson correlation coefficient) and NSE (Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency coefficient) values approaching 1 and lower NRSME values. This study provides a research foundation for the rational development and utilization of water resources in the Heilongjiang (Amur) River Basin and offers valuable insights for research on climate change characteristics in large transboundary river systems.

In this study, the greenland tree and shrub communities in Forest Park, a typical park greenland in Yingkou City, Liaoning Province, were used as the research object to compare the noise reduction of different communities, and to study the degree of noise reduction of the plant communities in summer. The results show that the noise reduction level of vegetation communities in summer is in the following order: M2 cypress + cypress + acacia > M1 poplar + Euphorbia + maple > M3 cypress + yellow thorn rose + ginkgo tree.

Abstract Background Chronic pain is a common disease; about 20% of people worldwide suffer from it. While compared with the research on the prevalence and management of chronic pain in developed countries, there is a relative lack of research in this field in China. This research aims to construct the China Pain Health Index (CPHI) to evaluate the current status of the prevalence and management of chronic pain in the Chinese population. Methods The dimensions and indicators of CPHI were determined through literature review, Delphi method, and analytical hierarchy process model, and the original values ​​of relevant indicators were obtained by collecting multi-source data. National and sub-provincial scores of CPHI (2020) were calculated by co-directional transformation, standardization, percentage transformation of the aggregate, and weighted summation. Results The highest CPHI score in 2020 is Beijing, and the lowest is Tibet. The top five provinces are Beijing (67.64 points), Shanghai (67.04 points), Zhejiang (65.74 points), Shandong (61.16 points), and Tianjin (59.99 points). The last five provinces are Tibet (33.10 points), Ningxia (37.24 points), Guizhou (39.85 points), Xinjiang (39.92 points), and Hainan (40.38 points). The prevalence of chronic pain is severe in Heilongjiang, Chongqing, Guizhou, Sichuan, and Fujian. Guizhou, Hainan, Xinjiang, Beijing, and Guangdong display a high burden of chronic pain. The five provinces of Guangdong, Shanghai, Beijing, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang have better treatment for chronic pain, while Tibet, Qinghai, Jilin, Ningxia, and Xinjiang have a lower quality of treatment. Beijing, Shanghai, Qinghai, Guangxi, and Hunan have relatively good development of chronic pain disciplines, while Tibet, Sichuan, Inner Mongolia, Hebei, and Guizhou are relatively poor. Conclusion The economically developed provinces in China have higher CPHI scores, while economically underdeveloped areas have lower scores. The current pain diagnosis and treatment situation in economically developed regions is relatively good, while that in financially underdeveloped areas is rather poor. According to the variations in the prevalence and management of chronic pain among populations in different provinces in China, it is necessary to implement chronic pain intervention measures adapted to local conditions.

Objective To analyze the imaging data of patients with hyperacute hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage with leukoaraiosis (LA), and to evaluate the possibility of unstable CT signs of hematoma as a predictor of hematoma enlargement risk. Methods The imaging data of 95 patients who were admitted to the Department of Emergency of The Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University from March to April, 2021 and underwent head CT scan within 6 h of onset were collected, and hematoma volume was obtained by ITK ⁃SNAP software. Unstable CT signs of hematoma including irregular shape sign, mixed density sign, black hole sign, swirl sign, satellite sign, island sign and liquid⁃liquid level sign were recorded. The severity of LA was assessed by the Blennow scale. Univariate and multivariate stepwise Logistic regression analysis were used to screen the risk factors of large volume cerebral hemorrhage (≥30ml). Results According to the hematoma volume of cerebral hemorrhage, 95 cases were divided into＜30ml group (n=53) and ≥30ml group (n=42). Logistic regression analysis showed that severe LA was a risk factor for large volume hematoma in cerebral hemorrhage (OR=6.222, 95%CI: 2.506-15.452; P=0.000). CT showed that the proportions of irregular shape sign (χ2=17.599, P=0.000), mixed density sign (χ2=5.644, P=0.018), black hole sign (χ2=23.161, P=0.000), swirl sign (χ2=26.128, P=0.000), satellite sign (χ2=25.148, P=0.000), island sign (χ2=20.575, P=0.000), ≥2 combined signs (χ2=23.245, P=0.000) and ≥3 combined signs (χ2=58.902, P=0.000) were higher in the hematoma volume ≥30ml group than those in＜30ml group. Severe LA (grade Ⅱ and Ⅲ) group (n=50) showed irregular shape sign (χ2=5.502, P=0.019), black hole sign (χ2=10.715, P=0.001), swirl sign (χ2=7.336, P=0.007), satellite sign (χ2=4.467, P=0.035), island sign (χ2=19.961, P=0.000), ≥2 combined signs (χ2=12.684, P=0.000) and ≥3 combined signs (χ2=17.593, P=0.000) were higher than those in non⁃severe (non and grade Ⅰ) group (n=45). Conclusions Severe LA is an important risk factor for hematoma volume expansion (≥30ml) in hyperacute hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage. The positive rates of unstable CT signs of hematoma in acute stage are higher, suggesting that this indicator can be used as a risk predictor for hematoma expansion after cerebral hemorrhage.

Abstract We collected the clinical data of 156 patients diagnosed with condyloma acuminatum (CA), including age, gender, marriage, education level, stay up late, smoking, drinking, number of sexual partners, HPV infection status of sexual partners, genitourinary and anal diseases, condom use, other diseases of HPV infection, location and number of warts, HPV typing, etc. Analyze the risk factors affecting the recurrence of CA, explore the influencing factors and independent influencing factors of CA recurrence, establish the prediction model of CA recurrence, and evaluate its prediction value. Univariate analysis showed that stay up late, HPV infection status of sexual partners, urogenital diseases, condom use, other diseases of HPV infection and the number of CA were the influencing factors of CA recurrence. BackgroundIt is now understood that the effectiveness of checkpoint immunotherapy can be impaired by immunosuppressive tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs). Nonetheless, the impact of different TAM subpopulations on the antitumor immune response remains unclear, mainly due to their heterogeneity. Herein, we identified a novel TAM subpopulation in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) that might contribute to poor clinical outcomes and immunotherapy modulation.Methods and resultsWe analyzed two single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) datasets (GSE145370 and GSE160269) of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma to identify a novel TREM2-positive TAM subpopulation characterized by upregulation of TREM2, C1QC, C1QB, C1QA, SPP1, and APOE. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) demonstrated that these genes were significantly overexpressed in ESCC. Multiplex immunofluorescence validated the infiltration of TREM2+ TAMs in ESCC tissues, which correlated with poorer overall survival (OS). The scRNA-seq analysis in dataset GSE120575 indicated significant enrichment of TREM2+ TAMs in melanoma patients (n=48) with poor immunotherapy response, which had an identical gene signature with TREM2+ TAMs from ESCC. Analysis of 29 bulk-RNA melanoma samples from dataset GSE78220 revealed that a gene signature of 40 genes associated with TREM2+ TAMs was upregulated in the transcriptome of melanomas that did not respond to anti-PD1 therapy. Validation in the TCGA ESCC cohort (n=80) showed that a high enrichment score of the TREM2+ TAM was associated with poor prognosis. In addition, 10 ESCC patients treated with anti-PD1 therapy suggested that patients who are not sensitive to immunotherapy have higher density of TREM2+TAMs infiltration.ConclusionOverall, TREM2+ TAM infiltration in ESCC is associated with poor prognosis and may serve as a biomarker for predicting outcomes and immunotherapy modulation in this patient population. modulation; single-cell RNA sequencing

Summary: Wearable devices have made it easier to generate and share data collected on individuals. This systematic review seeks to investigate whether deidentifying data from wearable devices is sufficient to protect the privacy of individuals in datasets. We searched Web of Science, IEEE Xplore Digital Library, PubMed, Scopus, and the ACM Digital Library on Dec 6, 2021 (PROSPERO registration number CRD42022312922). We also performed manual searches in journals of interest until April 12, 2022. Although our search strategy had no language restrictions, all retrieved studies were in English. We included studies showing reidentification, identification, or authentication with data from wearable devices. Our search retrieved 17 625 studies, and 72 studies met our inclusion criteria. We designed a custom assessment tool for study quality and risk of bias assessments. 64 studies were classified as high quality and eight as moderate quality, and we did not detect any bias in any of the included studies. Correct identification rates were typically 86–100%, indicating a high risk of reidentification. Additionally, as little as 1–300 s of recording were required to enable reidentification from sensors that are generally not thought to generate identifiable information, such as electrocardiograms. These findings call for concerted efforts to rethink methods for data sharing to promote advances in research innovation while preventing the loss of individual privacy.

Non-thermal plasma as a tool in chemical reaction engineering has been studied for many years. The temperature of electrons in non-thermal plasma far exceeds other particles, which leads to its high efficiency. Besides the well-studied destruction of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), the reaction environment generated by non-thermal plasma is also suitable for the activation of many significant gas-phase chemical reactions, e.g., as methane coupling, reduction of carbon dioxide, ammonia synthesis, nitrogen fixation, as well as some liquid phase chemical reactions such as the treatment of contaminated water. Material synthesis is another target field of non-thermal plasma. Plasma in micro scale with several enhanced properties makes it an even more promising tool for plasma-chemical processing. This work summarizes different types of non-thermal plasmas and their performance in commonly studied chemical reactions. The advantages gained by generating non-thermal plasma in micro scale with constricted spaces, reduced timescales, and micro-/nano-structured electrodes are also discussed.

As a potential drug candidate for the treatment of hypertension and complications, it is speculated that the component-based Chinese medicine of Ginkgo biloba leaves (GBCCM) which mainly composed of flavonoid aglycones (FAs) and terpene lactones (TLs) may have different pharmacological effects at different doses or ratios. Taking the normal mice as the study object, metabonomics was conducted by giving different doses of GBCCM. Based on the components of GBCCM absorbed into the blood, the network pharmacological prediction was carried out. By integrating the results of metabonomics and network pharmacology, predict the possible pharmacological effects of GBCCM and conduct experimental verification. It was found that eight of the 19 compounds in GBCCM could be absorbed into the blood. GBCCM mainly affected the signal pathways of unsaturated fatty acid, pyruvate, bile acid, melanin and stem cells. It was speculated that GBCCM might have activities such as lowering blood pressure, regulating stem cell proliferation and melanogenesis. By establishing the models of mushroom tyrosinase, rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) and spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRs), we found that FAs and TLs showed synergistic effect in hypertension and tyrosinase models, and the optimal ratio was 3:2 (4.4 mg/kg) and 1:1 (0.4 mg/ml), respectively. As effective substances, FAs significantly promoted the proliferation of rat BMSCs on the third and fifth days at the concentration of 0.2 μg/ml (p < 0.05). GBCCM showed a variety of pharmacological effects at different doses and ratios, which provided an important reference for the druggability of GBCCM.

BackgroundGlucocorticoid usage and alcohol abuse are the most widely accepted risk factors for nontraumatic osteonecrosis of femoral head (ONFH). Despite distinct etiologies between glucocorticoid-associated ONFH (GONFH) and alcohol-associated ONFH (AONFH), little is known about the differences of the microarchitectural and histomorphologic characteristics between these subtypes of ONFH.PurposesTo investigate bone microarchitecture, bone remodeling activity and histomorphology characteristics of different regions in femoral heads between GONFH and AONFH.MethodsFrom September 2015 to October 2020, 85 patients diagnosed with GONFH and AONFH were recruited. Femoral heads were obtained after total hip replacement. Femoral head specimens were obtained from 42 patients (50 hips) with GONFH and 43 patients (50 hips) with AONFH. Micro-CT was utilized to assess the microstructure of 9 regions of interest (ROIs) in the femoral head. Along the supero-inferior orientation, the femoral head was divided into necrotic region, reactive interface, and normal region; along the medio-lateral orientation, the femoral head was divided into medial region, central region and lateral region. Decalcified and undecalcified bone histology was subsequently performed to evaluate histopathological alterations and bone remodeling levels.ResultsIn the necrotic region, most of the microarchitectural parameters did not differ significantly between GONFH and AONFH, whereas both the reactive interface and normal region revealed a less sclerotic microarchitecture but a higher bone remodeling level in GONFH than AONFH. Despite similar necrotic pathological manifestations, subchondral trabecular microfracture in the necrotic region was more severe and vasculature of the reactive interface was more abundant in GONFH.ConclusionsGONFH and AONFH shared similar microarchitecture and histopathological features in the necrotic region, while GONFH exhibited a less sclerotic microarchitecture and a more active bone metabolic status in both the reactive interface and normal region. These differences between GONFH and AONFH in bone microarchitectural and histopathological characteristics might contribute to the development of disease-modifying prevention strategies and treatments for ONFH, taking into etiologies.

Fog interference is an unfavorable issue when using vision sensors to monitor forest environmental resources. The existence of fog causes intelligent forest vision sensor equipment to fail to obtain accurate information on environmental resources. Therefore, this study proposes a lightweight forest scene image dehazing network to remove fog interference from the vision system. To deal with the extraction of detailed forest image features, we propose utilizing joint image priors including white balance, contrast, and gamma correction feature maps as inputs of the network to strengthen the learning ability of the deep network. Focusing on reducing the computational cost of the network, four different kinds of Ghost Bottleneck blocks, which adopt an SE attention mechanism to better learn the abundant forest image features for our network, are adopted. Moreover, a lightweight upsampling module combining a bilinear interpolation method and a convolution operation is proposed, thus reducing the computing space used by the fog removal module in the intelligent equipment. In order to adapt to the unique color and texture features of forest scene images, the cost function consisting of L1 loss and multi-scale structural similarity (MS-SSIM) loss is specially designed to train the proposed network. The experimental results show that our proposed method obtains more natural visual effects and better evaluation indices. The proposed network is trained both on indoor and outdoor synthetic datasets and tested on synthetic and real foggy images. The PSNR achieves an average value of 26.00 dB and SSIM achieves 0.96 on the indoor synthetic dataset, while PSNR achieves an average value of 25.58 dB and SSIM achieves 0.94 on the outdoor synthetic test images. The average processing time of our proposed dehazing network for a single foggy image with a size of 480 × 640 is 0.26 s.

Background: The activation of alveolar macrophages (AMs) modulated via leucine-rich repeat (NLR) pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome activation is key to the progression of renal ischemia/reperfusion (rI/R)-mediated acute lung injury (ALI). Sirtuin-1 (SIRT1) can attenuate NLRP3 inflammasome activation during I/R stress and may be an important mechanism underlying ALI pathogenesis. Penehyclidine hydrochloride (PHC), an anticholinergic drug, exerts protective effects against rI/R-mediated ALI. This study aimed to decipher the effects of PHC on SIRT1 activation and the underlying mechanism of the protective activity of PHC against rI/R-mediated ALI.Materials and methods: We used an ALI rat model and the rat AMs cell line NR8383 to assess the degree of lung injury in vivo and in vitro.Results: The results show that PHC attenuates rI/R-mediated lung injury indices, myeloperoxidase, and apoptosis in vivo. It decreases the rI/R-mediated release of prostaglandin E2 and nitric oxide, mitochondrial reactive oxygen species production, and the activity of NADPH oxidase-4 in vitro. PHC ameliorates the rI/R-induced activation of the thioredoxin-interacting protein, caspase 1 (P10 unit), and NLRP3 inflammasome, along with reduced activation of interleukin-1β and interleukin-18 in vitro. We show that PHC alleviates the rI/R-induced reduction of SIRT1 and the depletion of SIRT1 eliminates the ameliorating activity of PHC on the NLRP3 inflammasome activation in vitro. Conclusions: In summary, the findings suggest that PHC ameliorates the rI/R-mediated ALI through the SIRT1-mediated NLRP3 inflammasome activation.
