3. Myriad: Large Multimodal Model by Applying Vision Experts for Industrial Anomaly Detection

Abstract

Existing industrial anomaly detection (IAD) methods predict anomaly scores for both anomaly detection and localization. However, they struggle to perform a multi-turn dialog and detailed descriptions for anomaly regions, e.g., color, shape, and categories of industrial anomalies. Recently, large multimodal (i.e., vision and language) models (LMMs) have shown eminent perception abilities on multiple vision tasks such as image captioning, visual understanding, visual reasoning, etc., making it a competitive potential choice for more comprehensible anomaly detection. However, the knowledge about anomaly detection is absent in existing general LMMs, while training a specific LMM for anomaly detection requires a tremendous amount of annotated data and massive computation resources. In this paper, we propose a novel large multi-modal model by applying vision experts for industrial anomaly detection (dubbed Myriad), which leads to definite anomaly detection and high-quality anomaly description. Specifically, we adopt MiniGPT-4 as the base LMM and design an Expert Perception module to embed the prior knowledge from vision experts as tokens which are intelligible to Large Language Models (LLMs). To compensate for the errors and confusions of vision experts, we introduce a domain adapter to bridge the visual representation gaps between generic and industrial images. Furthermore, we propose a Vision Expert Instructor, which enables the Q-Former to generate IAD domain vision-language tokens according to vision expert prior. Extensive experiments on MVTec-AD and VisA benchmarks demonstrate that our proposed method not only performs favorably against state-of-the-art methods under the 1-class and few-shot settings, but also provide definite anomaly prediction along with detailed descriptions in IAD domain., Comment: 8 pages, 7 figures

Abstract

Underwater automatic target recognition (UATR) has been a challenging research topic in ocean engineering. Although deep learning brings opportunities for target recognition on land and in the air, underwater target recognition techniques based on deep learning have lagged due to sensor performance and the size of trainable data. This letter proposed a framework for learning the visual representation of underwater acoustic imageries, which takes a transformer-based style transfer model as the main body. It could replace the low-level texture features of optical images with the visual features of underwater acoustic imageries while preserving their raw high-level semantic content. The proposed framework could fully use the rich optical image dataset to generate a pseudo-acoustic image dataset and use it as the initial sample to train the underwater acoustic target recognition model. The experiments select the dual-frequency identification sonar (DIDSON) as the underwater acoustic data source and also take fish, the most common marine creature, as the research subject. Abstract

In recent years, the organic–inorganic hybrid perovskite community has been widely employed as the photo-active layer in optical-electronic devices. The black α-phase formamidinium lead iodide (FAPbI3) is the most popular perovskite for realizing high-efficiency solar cells due to its suitable bandgap. However, the issue of stability is also a concern in the research on FAPbI3 solar cells. In this study, different ammonium ions, such as butylamine (BA), guanidine (GA), and butylene diamine (BDA), which are commonly used to construct two-dimensional perovskites, including Ruddlesden–Popper, Dion–Jacobson, and alternating cations in the interlayer space, respectively, were introduced in the fabrication of FAPbI3 using a sequential deposition method. Several structures of PbI2 precursor films were formed by introducing the aforementioned ions, which exhibited different arrangements and connection modes in lead iodides. BA-PbI2 precursor films exhibited higher specific surface areas, which were beneficial to the diffusion, ion exchange, and sequential reaction of FA+. The BDA-PbI2 precursor film slowed down the sequential reaction of FAPbI3 because of reduced van der Waals bonds. The nucleation dynamics and degradation processes of perovskites were deeply investigated in this study. Solar cells based on BA-PbI2, GA-PbI2, and BDA-PbI2 were also fabricated. Abstract

Inorganic tin–lead perovskites with low bandgap (1.2–1.4 eV) are desired absorber materials for solar cells owing to their ideal bandgap and compositional stability. However, such tin–lead perovskites are currently subject to inferior power conversion efficiency (PCE) and the origin remains unclear. Here, for the first time, we report the metal-cation-derived unsynchronized crystallization behavior of inorganic tin–lead perovskite, exemplifying by a representative composition CsPb0.7Sn0.3I3. A tin-perovskite-targeted crystallization modulation agent, 1-(4-fluorophenyl) piperazine (1-4FP), is introduced to synchronize the B-site alloying through its strong targeted bonding with SnI2, resulting in substantially enhanced film quality with better morphology and photoelectrical properties. Furthermore, first-principles molecular dynamics simulations reveal that the agent regulates the crystallization route toward the pure phase of CsPb0.7Sn0.3I3 by suppressing the preforming of tin perovskite. With our proposed approach, the best device attains PCE of 17.55%, which is record-high for inorganic tin–lead perovskite solar cells. In addition, treated devices show excellent stability with only 10% and negligible loss after being exposed to 1 sun intensity for 700 h and being stored in N2 after over 4000 h, respectively. The high speed development of industries such as new energy power, medical instruments, under¬ground exploration, and high power pulses are demanding more and more dielectric capacitors. Polymer based film capacitors are attracting attention for their high power density, high breakdown field strength, high reliability, low loss, and small size. However, the low energy density due to the low dielectric constant of the polymer itself has limited IS application n high-end fields. And polymer as an effective way to enhance the energy density by compounding with other organic or inorganic materials in different ways. This paper introduces the current research status of polymer based film capacitors compounded with inorganic materials, analyzes the advantages and shortcomings of different compounding methods, and discusses the future development prospects of polymer based film capacitors. Abstract

With the availability of new instrumentation for more complete ground motion measurements, as rotation or strain measurements using optical technology, novel application opportunities in seismology arise. Back azimuth information can be determined from combined measurements of rotations and translations at a single site. Such six degree-of-freedom (6-DoF) measurements are reasonably stable in delivering similar information compared to a small-scale array of three-component seismometers. Here we investigate whether a 6-DoF approach is applicable for imaging earthquake rupture propagation. While common approaches determining the timing and location of energy sources generating seismic waves rely on the information of P-waves, here we take S-waves into account. We analyze 2-D and 3-D synthetic cases of unilateral but complex rupture propagation. The back azimuths of directly arriving SH-waves in the 2-D case, and P-converted SV-waves and SH-waves in the 3-D case are tracked. For data analysis in terms of wave polarity we compare a cross-correlation approach using a grid-search optimization algorithm with a polarization analysis method using point measurements. We successfully recover rupture path and rupture velocity with only one station, under the assumption of an approximately known fault location. Using more than one station, rupture imaging in space and time is possible without a priori assumptions. We demonstrate robustness of the approach in resolving relatively small variations of rupture velocity, and rupture jumping across off set fault segments. We discuss the effects of rupture directivity, supershear rupture velocity, source-receiver geometry as well as potential and challenges for the method.
