Objective: This review aimed to identify the effect of physical activity in reducing depression symptoms during pregnancy through scoping review. Material and Methods: A scoping review of English academic journals was conducted using three electronic databases (Scopus, EBSCOHost and Science Direct) from 2015 to 2019. The research articles related to any type of physical activity or exercise during pregnancy for depression were included, while review and articles on pregnancy-related diseases such as gesta- tional diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and mental disorder were excluded. Results: Among 123 articles of the search results of electronic databases, only 14 articles were eligible. The sample size ranged from 36 to 18,040 participants, aged 18 to 45 years old. Most of the studies involving pregnant women in their second and third trimesters who practice physical activity regularly showed a reduction in depression and anxiety level. Conclusions: Physical activity during pregnancy reduces depressive symptoms and may prevent depression. Studies focusing on the effect of physical activity on depression during pregnancy and its impact on the mother's mental health are necessary for Malaysia and Asian countries. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation is a primary method used in the treatment of sudden cardiac arrest. It is a crucial skill that a healthcare provider and a lay rescuer should acquire to improve the survival and the neurological outcome of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Several modules were used to teach cardiopulmonary resuscitation for the healthcare provider and lay rescuer, but no module been developed that could be utilised in both population. Thus, this study aims to investigate the effectiveness of modified cardiopulmonary resuscitation training to knowledge (K), attitude (A), and performance (P) between medical and non-medical university students. Methods: This research was a single experimental study involving a total number of 125 students: 58 for a medical group and 67 for a non-medical group. A modified basic life support module, based on American Heart Association guideline 2015 was delivered to both groups under the same study setting. Pre and post KA scores were assessed using Res-Q questionnaire. The performance was evaluated by resuscitation feedback machine. The KA scores were analysed using repeated measure analysis of variance, and performance was examined using Pearson chi-square. Results: The study showed 64.8% of the participants were able to perform high-quality chest compression. Despite significant differences of sociodemographic background, there was no significant difference on effective chest compression between two groups (p = 0.200). There were also significant improvements in KA scores in both groups after intervention (p < 0.001). Conclusion: The knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation can be delivered to everyone as aspired by our stakeholder to have one qualified cardiopulmonary resuscitation provider in a family. This modified basic life support module is reliably applicable to both healthcare and lay rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation training. All rescuers will perform in a similar manner, and this will tremendously reduce the discrepancy in the cardiopulmonary resuscitation qualities. Background: Quality of life (QoL) is increasingly used to holistically evaluate bipolar disorder treatment beyond symptomatic response. For that purpose, the condition-specific QoL scale is better than the generic QoL scales. To date, there is no available QoL scale specifically designed for bipolar disorder (BD) for the Malaysian population. Objective: This study aimed to translate into Malay and validate the Brief Quality of Life in Bipolar Disorder (QoL.BD) scale in the local population. Method: The Brief QoL.BD was translated into Malay using the standard forward and back-translation method. The translated version was then administered to 40 patients with bipolar disorder from the outpatient psychiatric clinic, Hospital USM. Result: The Brief QoL.BD (Malay) demonstrated a good psychometric property, i.e. good internal consistency (Cronbach alpha 0.92) and concurrent validity with WHOQOL-BREF (Malay) (r = 0.82). Conclusion: The Brief QoL.BD (Malay) is a feasible, reliable, and valid tool for the assessment of QoL in bipolar disorder among the local population. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: COVID-19 is a disease caused by a new strain of coronavirus spreading rapidly over the globe, and the older population has had a larger impact as the fatality rate increases with age. This pandemic caused them to reduce their physical activity (PA). COVID-19 also resulted in food supply disruption and led to unhealthy dietary changes, which are usually associated with weight gain and affecting the body mass index (BMI). PA and BMI can influence the quality of life (QoL) of the older people. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the association between PA, BMI, and QoL amongst the older people in Malaysia during COVID-19. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted amongst community-dwelling older people from all states in Malaysia. An online survey consisting of self-reported anthropometry, Global Physical Activity Questionnaire-Malay version (GPAQ-M) and Short Form-36 Health (SF-36) Survey were collected. Statistical analysis chi-square test was used to identify the association between BMI, PA, and QoL. Results: This study included data from 180 individuals with a median age of 64.0 ± 9.8 years. The results showed that participants aged 60-69 years were significantly associated with better QoL, meanwhile, those who practice low PA levels were significantly associated with poor QoL. Conclusion: The findings revealed that age and PA were associated with QoL. Thus, the healthcare profession must emphasise regular PA to accomplish a better QoL amongst older people in the future. Malnutrition and poor quality of life (QoL) in older adults are becoming a public health concern. Therefore, this review article summarised significant studies which investigated the assessment of malnutrition and QoL and its relation. A literature research on academic journals published from 2011 to 2021 was conducted by using electronic databases, which were Google Scholar, PubMed, Science Direct and SCOPUS. A total of 21 studies with 26,569 participants were identified and included in this review. The prevalence of malnutrition ranged from 1.6% to 26.5%, and poor QoL was significant amongst malnourished older adults. In conclusion, malnutrition is associated with poor QoL amongst older adults. Future studies regarding factors that influence malnutrition and its relation towards the QoL amongst older adults are needed as it will help in assisting the healthcare professions to combat these health problems. Exhibitionism is a distressing condition which may have a link with the increasing availability and usage of online sexual activities (OSA). We highlight a 42-year-old man who presented with a constant craving for OSA to achieve his sexual satisfaction which included exposing his genitalia to virtual partners, unsuspected strangers, and colleagues in public areas. His sexual behaviours were further reinforced by an online video chatting with genitalia exposure, which ended commonly with an exchange of masturbatory acts. He denied any problem with his erection and able to achieve orgasm via common sexual acts. There was no past psychiatric history nor family history of mental disorder. He volunteered to seek psychiatric help and subsequently given a psycho education on his illness and how to cope with the distress associated with his sexual acts. He was scheduled for an intensive psychotherapy to instil insight and hope to deal with his sexual difficulties. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
