The intersecting health implications of HIV/AIDS and mental health among men who have sex with men (MSM) have been of significant concern, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Understanding the relationship between these two health domains is crucial for developing targeted interventions and support services. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between HIV/AIDS and mental health among MSM in the United States during the COVID-19 pandemic, exploring the predictors of the mental health index and their implications for this population. A regression analysis was conducted using a dataset of (N = 366) MSM participants. The variables examined included HIV prevalence, COVID-19 cases, deaths, testing rate, new HIV infections, and the mental health index. The regression analysis revealed a strong positive correlation between the predictor variables and the mental health index (multiple R = 0.9555, R2 = 0.9129). HIV prevalence emerged as a significant predictor, indicating that for every unit increase in HIV prevalence, there was an estimated increase of 532.7836 in the mental health index among MSM (p < 0.0001). However, COVID-19 cases, deaths, testing rate, and new HIV infections did not demonstrate significant relationships with the mental health index (p > 0.05). The findings highlight the significance of HIV/AIDS as a crucial factor influencing the mental health outcomes of MSM during the COVID-19 pandemic. Approximately 91.29% of the variability in the mental health index can be explained by the included variables. Tailored interventions and support services that integrate HIV prevention and mental health promotion are needed to address the unique challenges faced by this population. This article examines how lesbians and gay men imagine and build their 'intimate networks of care' and negotiate moral expectations towards intergenerational family care as they age. To date, little is known about the strength and complexities of different intimate ties or the role of intergenerational dynamics in shaping ageing sexual minority people's care needs and choices. Based on narrative interviews with ageing Chinese lesbians and gay men, the findings reveal their experiences of constantly juggling their ties with families of origin, moral values around intergenerational care and the urge to receive support from and offer support to chosen networks of people. Participants exercised agency in expanding their networks of care by building friendship and (online and offline) community networks for mutual care and support in later life. Nevertheless, as evidenced by the centrality of ageing with(out) children, and the moral obligation of caring for parents in participants' narratives, participants experienced tensions between enacting what was considered morally right/wrong and developing networks of care that were perceived as emotionally intimate. Linking relational sociology with the sociology of morality, we discuss the conceptual utility of 'intimate networks of care' for sociological theorising of the linkages between sexuality, care and relational lives. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in older men (N= 3056) with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and its effects on their sexual function and mental health. Descriptive, correlation, and regression analyses were used to explore the relationships between prostate and lower urinary tract health and psychological well-being. Better prostate and lower urinary tract health positively affected psychological well-being, and sexual function also had a positive influence. LUTS have an adverse impact on sexual function and mental health. Early intervention is crucial for mitigating the negative impact of LUTS on the quality of life in older men. Addressing prostate and lower urinary tract health issues through appropriate interventions may improve psychological wellbeing. Health care professionals must consider the adverse effects of BPH and LUTS on sexual function and mental health, and implement interventions to enhance the overall quality of life in older men. Individuals within the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) community who are diagnosed with cancer experience inequitable treatment in healthcare systems worldwide, resulting in dissatisfaction, communication challenges with healthcare providers, and a deep sense of disappointment. Stigma, discrimination, and perceived homophobia further heighten the risk of psychological and attitudinal disorders, including depression and suicidal tendencies, among LGBTQ cancer patients. To comprehensively assess the discrimination faced by LGBTQ cancer patients and gain deeper insights into their needs and experiences, we conducted a systematic review following PRISMA guidelines. We searched for relevant articles using specific keywords in reputable databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, and PsycINFO. We rigorously evaluated article quality using the CASP (Critical Appraisal Skills Programme) checklist. From a total of 75 eligible studies, we carefully selected 14 studies, specifically examining LGBTQ cancer patients who were currently undergoing or had previously undergone cancer treatment. The studies revealed various factors, including unmet needs related to anxiety and depression, instances of discrimination, disparities in care, and inadequate support systems. A majority of patients expressed dissatisfaction with their cancer care and continued to encounter discrimination and disparities throughout their treatment journeys. Consequently, this led to heightened levels of anxiety, stress, depression, and negative perceptions of healthcare providers. Based on these findings, we recommend providing specialized training to social workers and healthcare providers. This training will equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver culturally sensitive care tailored to the unique needs of LGBTQ cancer patients. By addressing discrimination, reducing disparities, and fostering an inclusive environment, healthcare professionals can strive to ensure that LGBTQ cancer patients receive the care they deserve. Objectives. Given the continuing COVID-19 pandemic and the associated prevention and control measures implemented, the psychological burden brought by the pandemic on citizens is expected to increase. This study is aimed at exploring the predictors of depressive symptoms among Hong Kong people during the epidemic, as well as factors that could potentially alleviate the negative effects of the epidemic. Methods. The third wave follow-up survey (December 2021 to January 2022) from a longitudinal prospective survey study conducted in Hong Kong was used for a cross-sectional analysis. The participants (n = 803) are adults aged 18 and above in Hong Kong. Logistic and linear regression were performed to test the predictors and moderating effects, respectively, with depression as the outcome variable. Results. With minimized confounding effects of demographic variables, higher levels of concern about infection, experience with COVID-19 infection and previous epidemics, hassles, and trust in authority increased the odds of being depressed, while a higher level of trust in medical professionals reduced the odds of depression. Moreover, greater trust in medical professionals, as a moderator, lessened the positive associations between the levels of depression and hassles and concern about infection. Conclusions. Even though the threats of COVID-19 seem to have lowered, this study shows that a few factors associated with the pandemic continue to threaten people's mental health.
