1. ChatBI: Towards Natural Language to Complex Business Intelligence SQL

Abstract

The Natural Language to SQL (NL2SQL) technology provides non-expert users who are unfamiliar with databases the opportunity to use SQL for data analysis.Converting Natural Language to Business Intelligence (NL2BI) is a popular practical scenario for NL2SQL in actual production systems. Compared to NL2SQL, NL2BI introduces more challenges. In this paper, we propose ChatBI, a comprehensive and efficient technology for solving the NL2BI task. First, we analyze the interaction mode, an important module where NL2SQL and NL2BI differ in use, and design a smaller and cheaper model to match this interaction mode. In BI scenarios, tables contain a huge number of columns, making it impossible for existing NL2SQL methods that rely on Large Language Models (LLMs) for schema linking to proceed due to token limitations. The higher proportion of ambiguous columns in BI scenarios also makes schema linking difficult. ChatBI combines existing view technology in the database community to first decompose the schema linking problem into a Single View Selection problem and then uses a smaller and cheaper machine learning model to select the single view with a significantly reduced number of columns. The columns of this single view are then passed as the required columns for schema linking into the LLM. Finally, ChatBI proposes a phased process flow different from existing process flows, which allows ChatBI to generate SQL containing complex semantics and comparison relations more accurately. We have deployed ChatBI on Baidu's data platform and integrated it into multiple product lines for large-scale production task evaluation. The obtained results highlight its superiority in practicality, versatility, and efficiency. At the same time, compared with the current mainstream NL2SQL technology under our real BI scenario data tables and queries, it also achieved the best results.

8. 3 L split-dose polyethylene glycol is superior to 2 L polyethylene glycol in colonoscopic bowel preparation in relatively high-BMI (≥ 24 kg/m2) individuals: a multicenter randomized controlled trial.

Abstract

Background: Whether body mass index (BMI) is a risk factor for poor bowel preparation is controversial, and the optimal bowel preparation regimen for people with a high BMI is unclear. Methods: We prospectively included 710 individuals with high BMIs (≥ 24 kg/m2) who were scheduled to undergo colonoscopy from January to November 2021 at 7 hospitals. Participants were randomly allocated into 3 L split-dose polyethylene glycol (PEG) group (n=353) and 2 L PEG group (n=357). The primary outcome was the rate of adequate bowel preparation, and the secondary outcomes included Boston Bowel Preparation Scale (BBPS) score, polyp detection rate, cecal intubation rate, and adverse reactions during bowel preparation. Furthermore, we did exploratory subgroup analyses for adequate bowel preparation. Results: After enrollment, 15 individuals didn't undergo colonoscopy, finally 345 participants took 3 L split-dose PEG regimen, and 350 participants took 2 L PEG regimen for colonoscopic bowel preparation. 3 L split-dose PEG regimen was superior to 2 L PEG regimen in the rate of adequate bowel preparation (81.2% vs. 74.9%, P = 0.045), BBPS score (6.71±1.15 vs. 6.37±1.31, P < 0.001), and the rate of polyp detection (62.0% vs. 52.9%, P = 0.015). The cecal intubation rate was similar in both groups (99.7%). Regarding adverse reactions, individuals were more likely to feel nausea in the 3 L PEG group (30.9% vs. 19.3%; P = 0.001); however, the degree was mild. In the subgroup analysis for adequate bowel preparation, 3 L split-dose PEG regimen performed better than 2 L PEG regimen in the overweight (BMI 25-29.9 kg/m2) (P = 0.006) and individuals with constipation (P = 0.044), while no significant differences were observed in relatively normal (BMI 24-24.9 kg/m2) (P = 0.593) and obese individuals (BMI ≥ 30 kg/m2) (P = 0.715). Conclusions: 3 L split-dose PEG regimen is superior to 2 L PEG regimen for colonoscopic Bowel Preparation in relatively high-BMI individuals, especially overweight individuals (BMI 25-29.9 kg/m2). 23. Cannulated iliac screw fixation combined with reconstruction plate fixation for Day type II crescent pelvic fractures

Abstract

Objective This study was performed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of a single cannulated iliac screw combined with reconstruction plate fixation for crescent pelvic fractures (Day type II).Method Thirty adult patients (23 men, 7 women) with a mean age of 42.3 years (range, 22–81 years) were retrospectively reviewed. The time interval between the injury and the operation ranged from 3 to 14 days. The duration of screw insertion, the frequency of C-arm X-ray examination, and the intraoperative blood loss volume were recorded. The minimum follow-up was 12 months (mean, 29 months; range, 12–36 months). Radiographic evaluation was performed using the Matta and Tornetta criteria.Results According to the Matta and Tornetta radiological criteria, the reduction was rated as excellent in 20 patients and good in 10 patients. Based on the Majeed functional evaluation at the follow-up appointment, the outcome was rated as excellent in 28 patients and good in 2 patients.Conclusion This technique can restrict damage to the surrounding soft tissues, decrease complications, and promote good clinical results.

28. An Object-oriented design for hierarchical B-spline surfaces

Abstract

This thesis documents an object-oriented software system that supports free-form surface modelling based on the hierarchical overlay methodology of [Forsey88]. This work is motivated by the need to provide a space-efficient representation of tensor-product hierarchical spline surfaces, multiple offset method support, and general surface representation. This design uses a spatial data structure, the quadtree, to achieve this goal. The quadtree, itself a hierarchical data structure, is very suitable in this application because of its ability to focus on the interesting subsets of the data. This focusing results in an efficient representation. The quadtree is also attractive because of its conceptual clarity and ease of maintenance. The package is implemented in C++ to provide: a) extensibility so that the new tools can be easily integrated into the existing package; b) reusability of code; and c)localization of code. Finally, this object-oriented hierarchical design keeps all of the original features of the hierarchical overlay method of [Forsey90].
