2. Task Containerization and Container Placement Optimization for MEC: A Joint Communication and Computing Perspective

Abstract

Containers are used by an increasing number of Internet service providers to deploy their applications in multi-access edge computing (MEC) systems. Although container-based virtualization technologies significantly increase application availability, they may suffer expensive communication overhead and resource use imbalances. However, so far there has been a scarcity of studies to conquer these difficulties. In this paper, we design a workflow-based mathematical model for applications built upon interdependent multitasking composition, formulate a multi-objective combinatorial optimization problem composed of two subproblems -- graph partitioning and multi-choice vector bin packing, and propose several joint task-containerization-and-container-placement methods to reduce communication overhead and balance multi-type computing resource utilization. The performance superiority of the proposed algorithms is demonstrated by comparison with the state-of-the-art task and container scheduling schemes., Comment: 11 pages, 8 figures

21. Improving local clustering based top-L link prediction methods via asymmetrical link clustering information

Abstract

Networks can represent a wide range of complex systems, such as social, biological and technological systems. Link prediction is one of the most important problems in network analysis, and has attracted much research interest recently. Many link prediction methods have been proposed to solve this problem with various technics. We can note that clustering information plays an important role in solving the link prediction problem. In previous literatures, we find node clustering coefficient appears frequently in many link prediction methods. However, node clustering coefficient is limited to describe the role of a common-neighbor in different local networks, because it can not distinguish different clustering abilities of a node to different node pairs. In this paper, we shift our focus from nodes to links, and propose the concept of asymmetric link clustering (ALC) coefficient. Further, we improve three node clustering based link prediction methods via the concept of ALC. The experimental results demonstrate that ALC-based methods outperform node clustering based methods, especially achieving remarkable improvements on food web, hamster friendship and Internet networks. Besides, comparing with other methods, the performance of ALC-based methods are very stable in both globalized and personalized top-L link prediction tasks., Comment: 14 pages, 7 figures

Abstract

With China's strong support for innovation and development, the policies of government guidance funds are an important driving force for leading innovation and economic transformation, and the effect of its related policies is of great significance. This paper selects 518 policies related to government guidance funds in the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region from 2005 to 2018 as the research object and constructs a policy efficiency evaluation indicator system from three dimensions of policy intensity, policy objectives and measures. The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and entropy method are used to weight the output level of policy innovation performance and economic performance of government guidance funds, and grey relational analysis (GRA) is used to measure the relationship between policies of government guidance funds and innovation performance and economic performance, and corresponding policy recommendations based on the research results. The results of the research show that the policy efficiency of the government guidance funds in Tianjin and Hebei is relatively high, and the policy efficiency of the Beijing government guidance funds needs to be improved. In general, the policy efficiency of the government guidance funds needs to be further improved.
