As the flexibility needs of new power systems with a high share of new energy sources increase, it is important to develop a flexibility resource market operation mechanism to balance the volatility and uncertainty of large-scale new energy output in real time. To this end, a wind-photovoltaic-thermal-hydrogen coordinated planning method based on a demand proportional allocation mechanism (DPAM) is proposed in the paper. Firstly, a three-phase coordinated operation strategy for wind and photovoltaic systems with hydrogen storage is formulated. Inter-station power trading between wind and photovoltaic based on DPAM coordinates the revenues and expenditures of wind and photovoltaic stations. Thermal power and hydrogen storage systems are used to provide operational flexibility, and a fixed-profit-proportional model is used to ensure the stability of hydrogen storage system revenues. Then, integrating the investment decision and operation simulation, power trading costs and flexibility resource regulation costs are incorporated in the optimization objective. A multi-timescale coordinated planning model with wind serving as the primary power source and thermal power and hydrogen storage as the auxiliary power sources is established. Finally, a provincial grid in northeast China is used as an example for analysis. The results show that the proposed methodology can be used for power planning in an economical and environmentally friendly way, reducing flexibility resource requirements and investment costs while incrersing the power utilization of wind and photovoltaic stations.

ObjectiveThe choice of neoadjuvant therapy for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is controversial. This study aims to provide a basis for clinical treatment selection by establishing a predictive model for the efficacy of neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy (NICT).MethodsA retrospective analysis of 30 patients was conducted, divided into Response and Non-response groups based on whether they achieved major pathological remission (MPR). Differences in genes and immune microenvironment between the two groups were analyzed through next-generation sequencing (NGS) and multiplex immunofluorescence (mIF). Variables most closely related to therapeutic efficacy were selected through LASSO regression and ROC curves to establish a predictive model. An additional 48 patients were prospectively collected as a validation set to verify the model’s effectiveness.ResultsNGS suggested seven differential genes (ATM, ATR, BIVM-ERCC5, MAP3K1, PRG, RBM10, and TSHR) between the two groups (P < 0.05). mIF indicated significant differences in the quantity and location of CD3+, PD-L1+, CD3+PD-L1+, CD4+PD-1+, CD4+LAG-3+, CD8+LAG-3+, LAG-3+ between the two groups before treatment (P < 0.05). Dynamic mIF analysis also indicated that CD3+, CD8+, and CD20+ all increased after treatment in both groups, with a more significant increase in CD8+ and CD20+ in the Response group (P < 0.05), and a more significant decrease in PD-L1+ (P < 0.05). The three variables most closely related to therapeutic efficacy were selected through LASSO regression and ROC curves: Tumor area PD-L1+ (AUC= 0.881), CD3+PD-L1+ (AUC= 0.833), and CD3+ (AUC= 0.826), and a predictive model was established. The model showed high performance in both the training set (AUC= 0.938) and the validation set (AUC= 0.832). Compared to the traditional CPS scoring criteria, the model showed significant improvements in accuracy (83.3% vs 70.8%), sensitivity (0.625 vs 0.312), and specificity (0.937 vs 0.906).ConclusionNICT treatment may exert anti-tumor effects by enriching immune cells and activating exhausted T cells. Tumor area CD3+, PD-L1+, and CD3+PD-L1+ are closely related to therapeutic efficacy. The model containing these three variables can accurately predict treatment outcomes, providing a reliable basis for the selection of neoadjuvant treatment plans.

[Significance] The study of the conceptual framework of the "Carbonate Factory" has been hailed by Reijmer as one of the main advances in carbonate sedimentology achieved during the last three decades . It has a unique value in reconstructing deep time carbonate production processes and their controlling factors, as well as in predicting the impact of future climate and environmental changes on the sedimentary system. [Progress] The study of carbonate factories focuses on the major factors influencing the sedimentary system, including producers, production processes and controls, and ecological accommodation. This is different from the traditional facies model that is based on lithofacies and sedimentary environment. As the related conceptual framework has matured, it is worth exploring new directions and research values of the carbonate factories to guide the innovation of theoretical and applied sedimentology. This study reviews the background of the formation of the conceptual framework of the carbonate factories, introduces their compositions and main influencing factors, and recommends the review and research papers in this special issue. [Prospects]The authors hope that through the introduction of these papers, domestic colleagues can be attracted to pay attention and interest to this field, and jointly promote the in-depth research and development of the carbonate factories. [Significance] Carbonate factories provide the foundation for forming carbonate depositional systems. They are closely related to marine evolution, elemental cycling, and earth surface processes and are an essential part reflecting the evolution of the Earth system. The transition of carbonate factories often coincides with biological and environmental changes. Over geological time, the change of carbonate factories frequently occurs along with biological or environmental crises such as mass extinction or the initiation of new life forms such as life explosion or biological recovery after crisis. Therefore, quantifying the characterization of carbonate factories and their controlling factors is for a deeper understanding of the geological information recorded in carbonate rocks. [Progress] However, most studies on carbonate factories, particularly those from the geological records, are qualitative based on the lithological and microfacies analysis. This study summarizes the research progress in the semi-quantitative to quantitative characterization of carbonate factories, combining the introduction of the methods for forward modelling of sedimentary processes to provide a perspective for the detailed characterization of carbonate factories from a quantitative reconstruc-tion perspective. In addition to providing information on rock components that indicate the ingredients of carbonate factories, statistical analysis of carbonate grains can offer insights into the sedimentary environment by examining parameters such as size, roundness, and sorting. These shape characteristics can serve as quantitative indicators of water energy and grain transportation processes. Elemental geochemical proxies enable the assessment of environmental parameters such as redox conditions, nutrient levels, and climatic conditions. Isotopic geochemical proxies play a crucial role in reconstructing the evolution of environmental factors such as temperature and seawater carbonate saturation. By a combination of multiproxies and sedimentary process modelling, a comprehensive analysis can identify the production process, controlling factors, and evolution of carbonate factories. [Prospects] Based on traditional carbonate sedimentology, studying carbonate factories should deepen our understanding of their controlling factors, particularly the quantitative assessment of factors directly impacting ecosystems. When applying quantitative analysis methods such as sediment transport patterns or hydrodynamic analysis that are established in siliciclastic sedimentary systems, the differences caused by the biogenic nature of certain carbonate sediments compared to siliciclastic sediments need to be considered. Furthermore, models and analysis methods applicable to carbonate grains should be further refined. In addition, when quantitatively evaluating the development of carbonate factories in ancient marine using quantitative carbonate grains statistics or geochemical indicators, there should be a strengthened focus on developing quantitative assessment methods for the level of diagenetic alteration. Further efforts should be directed toward developing and applying in-situ elemental and isotopic testing methods to reduce the impact of diagenesis on geochemical signals. While developing and applying new geochemical proxies for carbonate rocks, the mechanisms of occurrence or fractionation need to be clearly understood to interpret the reflected paleoclimate and paleoenvironmental information accurately. Simultaneously, when studying deep-time evolution and production mechanisms of carbonate factories through sedimentary process forward modelling, it is necessary to consider the applicability of parameters obtained from modern environments in deep-time records and account for the impact of syndepositional-early diagenesis and chemical evolution of seawater geochemical evolution in the modelling process. The assemblage of oceanic islands and seamounts, arising from the widespread presence of mature oceans, plays a crucial role in reconstructing the evolutionary history of the paleoocean. Oceanic islands or seamounts within the Longmuco-Shuanghu metamorphic complex, a remnant of the Paleo-Tethys Ocean in the central Tibetan Plateau, have seldom been reported due to their remoteness. This study has identified an oceanic island-seamount in the Maoershan area, situated to the west of the Longmuco-Shuanghu metamorphic complex, composed of basalt, diabase, limestone, and siliceous rocks. Based on field observations, petrology, zircon U-Pb dating, whole-rock geochemistry, and Sr-Nd isotopes analyses, we have identified a suite of mafic rocks with OIB affinity. The youngest zircon U-Pb age cluster was concentrated at ~243–241 Ma. The geochemical characteristics of the siliceous rocks indicate a mixture of terrigenous material, suggesting that they formed in a continental margin. In combination with regional geological data, we conclude that the Longmuco-Shuanghu Paleo-Tethys Ocean remained open during the Middle Triassic. Furthermore, a fraction of the oceanic island-seamounts underwent scraping and transformed into a metamorphic complex, while other segments experienced deep subduction, resulting in the formation of high-pressure metamorphic rocks. Collectively, these processes gave rise to the distinctive high-pressure metamorphic complex within the central Qiangtang terrane. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
