Direct air capture (DAC) is a negative emission technology for removing CO2 from the atmosphere to maintain the CO2 level within a reasonable range so as to address greenhouse effects. In this study, the operational optimization of lab‐scale DAC has been investigated using a crossflow air‐liquid contactor loaded with a three dimensionally printed Gyroid packing structure and a potassium sarcosinate solvent. The effects of various parameters, including feed air flow rate, liquid solvent flow rate, contactor geometry, and ambient temperature, are examined. The results demonstrate that the Gyroid packing design achieves comparable CO2 capture performance to conventional packed beds but with a significantly lower pressure drop of up to 77.8%, suggesting its potential as an efficient and cost‐effective solution for gas–liquid contactors in DAC. Additionally, the study explores the climate impact on CO2 capture performance and finds that as the air temperature increases from 35 to 95°F at a fixed relative humidity of 80%, the CO2 capture rate increased from 23.2% to 46.8% with better stability. The research highlights the importance of optimizing contactor design and operational conditions to improve the CO2 capture rate and feasibility of DAC systems as a negative emission technology for addressing greenhouse effects. This article presents a novel approach to visualize the flow boiling in round tubes under "diabatic conditions". In the visualization test section, a 3D printed round tube is placed inside a glass tube with secondary fluid at a higher temperature flowing in the annulus between the two tubes thus providing diabatic conditions. Experimental work was conducted for evaporating R410A flow in a horizontal smooth round tube with the inner diameter of 6.3 mm. Compared to the traditional adiabatic visualization technique, the more realistic evaporative condition is simulated and the developing evaporation process is captured. New insights for the flow behavior at low vapor quality are brought by this diabatic method. The vapor plug occurs at very low vapor quality, and this is attributed to the coalescence of bubbles generated on the heated tube wall. For the intermittent flow, liquid slug triggered by Kelvin–Helmholtz instability affects the nucleation on the tube wall. It brings the fresh liquid to rewet the dry surface and activate the nucleation sites. In addition, heat flux condition affects the heat transfer mechanisms during the flow boiling, and the heat transfer through the nucleate boiling mechanism increases as the heat flux increases. The current social conflicts largely result from the serious separation between the and concrete facets of human beings. People are reduced to an existence, which in particular means some leaders who control public resources regard the concrete individuals as symbols. This distorted view on human beings has greatly undermined people's interests and turned the scientific outlook on development into an empty notion. This inhuman reduction of human beings is closely related to such factors as the transition in the themes of the times, the implementation of market economy, and the dominance of capitalist ideology. Because of the complexity of human existence, it is necessary to the defining features of human beings if we want to cultivate and protect the essence of human beings. In today's China, there is a paradox concerning the generalization of human nature : inadequate generalization coexists with excessive reduction (the latter being more common). The former leads to treating people's interests according to one's personal wishes while the latter greatly obscuring them. Both of them are severe distortions of human nature. An appropriate generalization of human nature will reveal its four essential elements, i.e. natural need, social need, intellectual need, and moral need. The recognition of these four elements will correspondingly lead to four human forces : passion for life, affinity with society, control of reasoning, and commitment to morality. In order to evaluate seed viability of Platycodon grandiflorum, Schizonepeta tenuifolia, Andrographis paniculat, Codonopsis pilosula, Scutellaria baicalensis, Leonurus japonicus, Rabdosia rubescens, stored in the medium-term gene bank of the National Medicinal Plant Gene Bank for 4 years, we tested seed germination rate of 7 species of medicinal plant and analyzed the change of significance of levels of the germination rate in pre and post store. Seed germination rates of 7 species of medicinal plants were all decreased after 4 years, and the decrease of S. tenuifolia and S. baicalensis germination rates were much smaller than other species. The higher initial germination rate of P. grandiflorum, C. pilosula, R. rubescens seed has the smaller decline of germination rate, but the data of A. paniculata showed the opposite trend. The rate decline of the germination of S. tenuifolia and S. baicalensis was roughly the same in different germination rate interval. The results showed that low temperature storage could effectively prolong the seed longevity, and maintain the seed vigor. To research the differences and correlation between Scutellaria baicalensis about phenotypic traits of different strains, 10 aboveground traits and 6 root traits of S. baicalensis in two-year-transplanted plants from 14 different strains were compared respectively, and the SPSS 17.0 statistical software was used for data analysis. It showed that phenotypic traits variation of different S. baicalensis strains was rich and the F value ranged from 3.169 to 71.58. The difference was significant between each other and germplasm 15 performs the most outstanding characters. Correlation analysis showed that there existed a significant correlation between the characters except for lateral root number, root diameter and length. The correlation coefficient between the fresh weight of root and the reed head diameter was up to 0.877. Principal component analysis showed that the average of overall yield per plant and root diameter could be used as the comprehensive reference index for germplasm evaluation. Aquilaria sinensis callus induced by stem tips were used to establish the suspension cell system. The results showed that the most suitable medium for callus induction and subculture is MS + 2.0 mg x L(-1) NAA + 1.0 mg x L(-1) 6-BA. After 12 times of subculture, the energetic and loose callus, which were appropriate for cell suspension culture, were cultured and shook in liquid medium MS + 2.0 mg x L(-1) NAA + 1.0 mg x L(-1) 6-BA + 500.0 mg x L(-1) casein hydrolysate (CH) to establish the suspension cell system. The growth curve of suspension cells showed a "S" type. At the beginning of the culture, cell density increased slowly; during 4 to 6 days, suspension cells reached logarithmic growth period; during 7 to 12 days, suspension cells were in the platform period; but after 12 days, cell density and activity went down obviously. Agarwood sesquiterpenes were not detected in the suspension cells during the growth period, however, they could be detected in MeJA treated suspension cells. In this study, a stable and active growing suspension cell system was established, which was a proper system to study the mechanism of agarwood sesquiterpene formation, and additionally provided a potential way to generate agarwood sesquiterpenes through application of cell culture.

Objective: Breeding the good varieties characters of Platycodon grandiflorum., Methods: 20 combination, derived from 2 x 10 incomplete diallel cross with 2 male sterile lines and 10 four-generation inbred lines, analysis the 13 agronomic characters., Results: The agronomic characters of F1 has obvious heterosis. Dry plant weight and fresh root weight have the largest heterosis. Their middle parent heterosis (MPH), high parent heterosis (HPH) and heterosis over CK (CH) were 96.07%, 62.62%, 116.21%, 108.99%, and 111.98%, 113.47%, respectively., Conclusion: The F1 hybrids derived from the crossing of male sterile lines and in-bred lines have obvious heterosis. It applied the hybrid heterosis breeding is an effective way for the new variety of Platycodon grandiflorum.
