Receptor-like kinases (RLKs) are major regulators of the plant immune response and play important roles in the perception and transmission of immune signals. RECEPTOR LIKE KINASE 902 (RLK902) is at the key node in leucine-rich repeat receptor-like kinase interaction networks and positively regulates resistance to the bacterial pathogen Pseudomonas syringae in Arabidopsis. However, the function of RLK902 in fungal disease resistance remains obscure. In this study, we found that the expression levels of OsRLK902-1 and OsRLK902-2 , encoding two orthologues of RLK902 in rice, were induced by Magnaporthe oryzae , chitin, and flg22 treatment. osrlk902-1 and osrlk902-2 knockout mutants displayed enhanced susceptibility to M. oryzae. Interestingly, the osrlk902-1 rlk902-2 double mutant exhibited similar disease susceptibility, hydrogen peroxide production, and callose deposition to the two single mutants. Further investigation showed that OsRLK902-1 interacts with and stabilizes OsRLK902-2. The two OsRLKs form a complex with OsRLCK185, a key regulator in chitin-triggered immunity, and stabilize it. Taken together, our data demonstrate that OsRLK902-1 and OsRLK902-2, as well as OsRLCK185 function together in regulating disease resistance to M. oryzae in rice. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The explosive growth of biomedical Big Data presents both significant opportunities and challenges in the realm of knowledge discovery and translational applications within precision medicine. Efficient management, analysis, and interpretation of big data can pave the way for groundbreaking advancements in precision medicine. However, the unprecedented strides in the automated collection of large‐scale molecular and clinical data have also introduced formidable challenges in terms of data analysis and interpretation, necessitating the development of novel computational approaches. Some potential challenges include the curse of dimensionality, data heterogeneity, missing data, class imbalance, and scalability issues. This overview article focuses on the recent progress and breakthroughs in the application of big data within precision medicine. Key aspects are summarized, including content, data sources, technologies, tools, challenges, and existing gaps. Nine fields—Datawarehouse and data management, electronic medical record, biomedical imaging informatics, Artificial intelligence‐aided surgical design and surgery optimization, omics data, health monitoring data, knowledge graph, public health informatics, and security and privacy—are discussed. New urbanization often leads to land-use and land-cover change (LUCC), which inevitably affects ecosystem services (ESs). Although it is traditionally believed that urbanization reduces ecosystem services, some studies have shown that reasonable urban development facilitates ecosystem conservation. Previous studies have focused on the impacts of urbanization on either LUCC or ESs, with fewer dynamic assessments of the coordination of the three. Taking China's contiguous poor areas (CPAs) as an example, this study applied coupling coordination, path analysis, and a multiscale geographically weighted regression (MGWR) model to identify the dynamic relationship among urbanization, land use, and the environment and then predicted their coupling coordination under shared socioeconomic pathways (SSP-RCP) in 2035 using the Patch Generation Land Use Simulation (PLUS) and a random forest model. The results of the study show that (1) urbanization, land-use change, and environmental loads in China's CPAs showed an inconsistent upward trend. There was a slight overall decrease in ESs before 2013, which was consistent with the early stage of the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC); after that time, they showed different characteristics. (2) From 2000 to 2018, the coupling coordination degree of CPAs decreased slightly due to urbanization, geographic factors, and grassland and unused land. LUCC was essential to maintaining the system balance. The SN (southern contiguous poverty area) was at a basic level of coordination, while the other regions showed a moderate imbalance. (3) According to scenario projections, the degree of coupling coordination in all regions will increase by 2035. Environmental prioritization and sustainable routes are the best options for CPAs' development. The SN is more stable, while the WN (western contiguous poverty area) has the lowest coupling coordination. (4) Environmentally friendly urbanization should be carried out with land management tailored to local conditions. Measures that could be recommended include establishing ecological pilot zones in SN areas, prioritizing the protection of grassland ecosystems in WN areas, and promoting intensive land use in the NN (northern contiguous poverty area). The present study offers a novel perspective on the interplay between the economy and the environment at the county level and achieves predictive coupling coordination through the integration of PLUS and random forest models. This investigation of coordinated urbanization–LUCC–ES development in CPAs yields valuable insights for enhancing environmental and economic well-being in similar regions within China, as well as globally. [Objective] This study aimed to develop new rice materials against blast and bacterial blight. [Method] The female parent was Xiangyaxiangzhan and the male parents were Shuangkang 77009 with rice blast resistance gene Pigm-1 and 1RBB23 with bacterial blight resistance gene Xa23. With the help of molecular marker-assisted selection breeding, the target genes were detected in the isolated generation. Combined with multi-generation selection and resistance identification in the field, five stable lines with multiple resistance and excellent comprehensive characters were selected and analyzed for their agronomic characters. Then, Liangxiang A, a three-line sterile line, was crossed with Xiangyaxiangzhan and five stable lines, respectively. The agronomic and quality traits of the crosses were analyzed, and the restoration genes of the five stable lines were detected. [Result] The five stable Xa23 and Pigm-1 lines showed good resistance to blast and bacterial blight. Among the crosses between sterile line Liangxiang A and five stable lines, only Liangxiang A/R21-1 combination showed normal fruiting, while other combinations were semisterile. Compared with parent R21-1, the Liangxiang A/R21-1 combination showed better characteristics regarding numbers of effective panicles and spikelets per panicle. The head rice rate and chalkiness degree were also significantly improved, and rice quality reached the level of secondary high quality rice issued by the government. [Conclusion] Five stable Xa23 and Pigm-1 double gene polymerization lines were created and the improved variant R21-1 with Rf3 gene could be used in rice polygenic polymerization breeding.
