The DArk Matter Particle Explorer (DAMPE) is well suitable for searching for monochromatic and sharp $\gamma$-ray structures in the GeV$-$TeV range thanks to its unprecedented high energy resolution. In this work, we search for $\gamma$-ray line structures using five years of DAMPE data. To improve the sensitivity, we develop two types of dedicated data sets (including the BgoOnly data which is the first time to be used in the data analysis for the calorimeter-based gamma-ray observatories) and adopt the signal-to-noise ratio optimized regions of interest (ROIs) for different DM density profiles. No line signals or candidates are found between 10 and 300 GeV in the Galaxy. The constraints on the velocity-averaged cross section for $\chi\chi \to \gamma\gamma$ and the decay lifetime for $\chi \to \gamma\nu$, both at 95% confidence level, have been calculated and the systematic uncertainties have been taken into account. Comparing to the previous Fermi-LAT results, though DAMPE has an acceptance smaller by a factor of $\sim 10$, similar constraints on the DM parameters are achieved and below 100 GeV the lower limits on the decay lifetime are even stronger by a factor of a few. We provide a fast approach incorporating the usage of deep learning for evaluating the effects of photon sensors in an antineutrino detector on the event reconstruction performance therein. This work is an attempt to harness the power of deep learning for detector designing and upgrade planning. Using the Daya Bay detector as a benchmark case and the vertex reconstruction performance as the objective for the deep neural network, we find that the photomultiplier tubes (PMTs) have different relative importance to the vertex reconstruction. More importantly, the vertex position resolutions for the Daya Bay detector follow approximately a multi-exponential relationship with respect to the number of PMTs and hence, the coverage. This could also assist in deciding on the merits of installing additional PMTs for future detector plans. The approach could easily be used with other objectives in place of vertex reconstruction.

The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) is a multipurpose neutrino experiment with a 20 kt liquid scintillator detector designed to determine the neutrino mass hierarchy, and measure the neutrino oscillation parameters. Linear alkyl benzene (LAB) will be used as the solvent for the liquid scintillation system in the central detector of JUNO. For this purpose, we have prepared LAB samples, and have measured their light attenuation lengths, with one achieving a length of 25.8 m, comparable to the diameter of the JUNO detector.

A new Digital Pulse Processing (DPP) system, based on domino ring sampler version 4 (DRS4), with good time resolution for the LaBr3 detectors has been developed and different digital timing analysis methods for processing the detector raw signals are reported. The system, composed of an eight channels DRS4 chip, was used as the readout electronic and acquisition system to process the outputs signals from XP20D0 Photomultiplier Tubes (PMTs). The PMTs were coupled with LaBr3 scintillator and placed on opposite side of the radioactive positron 22Na source for 511keV gama-ray test. By analyzing the raw data acquired by the system, the best coincidence timing resolution is about 194.7ps (FWHM), obtained by the digital constant fraction discrimination (dCFD) method and better than the other digital methods and analysis method based on the conventional analog systems. The results indicate that it is a promising approach to better localize the positron annihilation in the positron emission tomography (PET) with time of flight (TOF) and they are also suitable for the scintillation timing measurement, such as in TOF-DeltaE and TOF-E systems for particle identification, with picosecond accuracy timing measurement. Linear alkyl benzene (LAB) will be used as the solvent of a liquid scintillator mixture for the JUNO antineutrino experiment in the near future. Its light absorption property should therefore be understood prior to its effective use in the experiment. Attenuation length measurements at a light wavelength of 430 nm have been performed on samples of LAB prepared for the purpose of the JUNO experiment. Inorganic impurities in LAB have also been studied for their possibilities of light absorption in our wavelength of interest. In view of a tentative plan by the JUNO collaboration to utilize neutron capture with hydrogen in the detector, we have also presented in this work, a study on the carbon-hydrogen ratio and the relationship thereof with the attenuation length of the samples.
