Abstract

The photocatalytic reduction of CO2 represents an environmentally friendly and sustainable approach for generating valuable chemicals. In this study, a thiophene‐modified highly conjugated asymmetric covalent triazine framework (As‐CTF‐S) is developed for this purpose. Significantly, single‐component intramolecular energy transfer can enhance the photogenerated charge separation, leading to the efficient conversion of CO2 to CO during photocatalysis. As a result, without the need for additional photosensitizers or organic sacrificial agents, As‐CTF‐S demonstrates the highest photocatalytic ability of 353.2 µmol g−1 and achieves a selectivity of ≈99.95% within a 4 h period under visible light irradiation. This study provides molecular insights into the rational control of charge transfer pathways for high‐efficiency CO2 photoreduction using single‐component organic semiconductor catalysts. Abstract

Keratin pearls (KP) is an important indicator of the degree of tumor cell differentiation of esophageal squamous cell carcinomas (ESCC). However, the independent prognostic value of KP in ESCC patients remains unclear. The hematoxylin-eosin (H&E) stained tissue microarrays (TMAs) or whole slides of the patients were prepared to identify the existence of KP. Kaplan-Meier (KM) survival analysis as well as univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses were used to evaluate the prognostic value of KP. A nomogram based on KP and other clinicopathologic characteristics was constructed. The C-index, calibration curve, Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve, and Decision Curve Analysis (DCA) were used to evaluate the nomogram. The results indicated KP is a protective factor against lymph node metastasis and is closely associated with the differentiation degree in ESCC patients. KM survival analysis showed that the overall survival (OS) of patients with KP was significantly better than for patients without KP. In addition, multivariate Cox regression analysis revealed that KP was an independent predictor of OS. Furthermore, ROC curve demonstrated that KP combined with differentiation degree could more accurately predict the 5-year survival rate than differentiation degree alone. Importantly, the nomogram showed good discrimination and calibration abilities in both training and validation groups, which could more accurately predict the 3-, 5-, and 10-year survival rates of ESCC patients and adds to the predictive value of TNM stage alone. In conclusion, KP is an independent predictor of prognosis in patients with ESCC and provides incremental prognostic value to degree of differentiation.

21. Vortex State in a Nematic Triplet Superconductor.

Abstract

The discovery of nematic triplet superconductivity in doped topological insulators CuxBi2Se3 triggers interest in the identification of the d-vector of the triplet, which is related to the antinodal direction of the gap function and determines whether the superconductor is topological. We perform self-consistent analysis of the vortex state properties in a nematic spin-triplet px-wave superconductor. We first derive a Ginzburg-Landau theory to determine the shape of the vortex and vortex lattice. We find the spatial profile of the isolated vortex is elongated along the antinodal direction, and the vortex lattice is a distorted triangular lattice elongated along x, becoming square in the specific case of a small circular Fermi surface. Finally, we calculate the local density of states self-consistently for an isolated vortex and the vortex lattice using the microscopic Bogoliubov-de Gennes equation. We find that the profile of the local density of states at low in-gap energies is always elongated along the antinodal direction. Our findings are valuable for the experimental detection of the antinodal direction of the gap function in nematic triplet superconductors, and subsequently the identification of the topological character of the superconducting state as in CuxBi2Se3. Abstract

Solar-driven high-efficiency conversion of CO2with water vapor into high-value-added alcohols is a promising approach for reducing CO2emissions and achieving carbon neutrality. However, the rapid recombination of photogenerated carriers and low CO2adsorption capacity of photocatalysts are usually the factors that limit their applicability. Herein, a series of low-cost Z-scheme heterostructures Cu2O/PCN-250-xare constructed by in situgrowth of ultrasmall Cu2O nanoparticles on PCN-250. A systematic investigation revealed that there is a strong interaction between Cu2O nanoparticles and PCN-250. The resulting Cu2O/PCN-250-2 exhibits excellent photogenerated carrier separation efficiency and CO2adsorption capacity, which dramatically promote the conversion of CO2into alcohols. Notably, the total yield of 268 μmol gcat–1for the production of CH3OH and CH3H2OH is superior to that of isolated PCN-250 and Cu2O. This study provides a new perspective for the design of a Cu2O nanoparticle/metal–organic framework Z-scheme heterojunction for the reduction of CO2to alcohols with water vapor.

Abstract

Purpose: To assess the correlation between meteorological factors and spinal disease admissions. Methods: Data was obtained from the electronic medical records of a tertiary general hospital. Meteorological data was collected from China Meteorological Science Data Sharing Service. Distributed lag nonlinear models were used to evaluate the impact of meteorological variables on weekly spinal disease admissions. Results: A total of 2739 spinal cases were documented. Compared with estimates at the 50th, the cumulative relative risk (RR) for extremely high temperatures at the 97.5th over lag week 18 to lag week 20 increased by 75.7%. When the weekly maximum temperature reached 38°C during lag week 20, the maximum RR was 1.96 (95% CI:1.095–3.506). Moreover, the effects of extremely high temperatures on spinal disease admissions were more obvious in females and the age group ≥65 years old compared with males and the age group<65 years old. Abstract

Improving the level of arteriovenous fistula (AVF) self‐care behavior by people receiving hemodialysis is an effective way to reduce the occurrence of complications and mortality. The aim of this study was to assess the self‐care behavior of Chinese patients undergoing hemodialysis with arteriovenous fistula. The assessment of self‐care behaviors with arteriovenous fistula in hemodialysis (ASBHD‐AVF, Portuguese version) was translated into Chinese using Brislin's translation model. The content validity was evaluated by six experts. Then we involved 301 hemodialysis patients with AVF to explore the construct validity of the Chinese version of ASBHD‐AVF. Ultimately 216 patients from eight dialysis centers of general hospitals in China were recruited to evaluate the patients' self‐care behavior about AVF. Measures included demographic questionnaire, and the Chinese ASBHD‐AVF. The Chinese ASBHD‐AVF that included 12 items has a good internal consistency (α = 0.865) and content validity (CVI = 0.979). Principal component analysis generated two factors which explained 53.525% of the total variance. About 69.9% of hemodialysis patients' AVF self‐care behavior were at a low or moderate level. The level of self‐care behavior and knowledge need to be improved. Nurses should give specific guidance according to the patients' own characteristics and different influence factors, in order to improve the recipients' self‐care behavior. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
