Abstract

The properties of energy absorption can be effectively improved by different induced structures for thin-walled straight tube.Finite element software（LS-DYNA） was used to simulate the transient response of thin-walled circular tube with internal and outer staggered grooves under axial impact.Axial shock characteristics of force for thin-walled circular tubes with different grooves were compared.The mean load formula considering strain rate effect was derived based on Hosseinipour ’s deformation model.Geometric parameter was introduced to predict peak load.The results show that the thin-walled circular tube with internal and outer staggered grooves can reduce 62.24% peak load and 56.26% mean load compared with thin-walled straight tube.The fold deformation is symmetrical and consistent with Hosseinipour’s deformation model.The prediction results of mean load and peak load are consistent with the finite element results.

Abstract

Combining a negative stiffness mechanism composed of tension spring with a linear positive stiffness spring in parallel,a novel quasi-zero stiffness vibration isolation systemwas designed which can be used to isolate low or ultra-low vibration. The static model of the system was established and the condition of quasi-zero stiffness characteristics was obtained.The fore-displacement curves of the tension-type isolator and a compression-type isolator were compared. The effect of adjustment of vertical spring in the system was analyzed. The dynamic equation was established when the system was excited by a harmonic amplitude on the displacement and the equation was solved by using Harmonic Balance method. The displacement transmissibility curves of the tension-type and the compression-type isolators were also compared. The effect of the main parameters on response of the system was explored. ADAMS model was established and the static model was proved to be correct. The vibration simulation results prove that the quasi-zero stiffness system has greater advantage than linear system in low or ultra-low vibration isolation.

Abstract

Excessive deflection of the truck scale body is a primary cause leading to measurement error. The prestressedtreatment method of steel structure was applied to the welding procedure of the truck scale body and U-beam. The mathematical relationship model between the preload and the deflection and stress of the truck scale body was constructed. In addition,the prestressed-treatment process was carried out based on finite element method. The results show the deflection of the simulation results is consistent with the changing rule of the mathematical model. Therefore,the deflection of the truck scale body can be improved effectively with the prestressed-treatment method of steel structure,which can be able to improve its measuring accuracy.

Abstract

Bimetallic oxide NiCo2O4 and its composites hold promising applications for supercapacitors owing to their theoretical capacity, inexpensiveness, and ease of synthesis. In this work, novel CuO/Cu2O/NiCo2O4 (CCNC) open-structured three-dimensional (3D) composites were synthesized. The multiple components and open structure of the composite provide many open channels for ion diffusion, thus, promoting good rate performance during the electrochemical reaction. The optimized sample (CCNC3–6) shows good electrochemical performance, with a high specific capacitance of 1614 F g−1 at a current density of 1 A g−1, and good rate performance by maintaining a capacitance of 1383 F g−1 for increasing current density to 20 A g−1 (with a merely 14% capacitance loss, as compared with that at 1 A g−1). The composite also shows enhanced cycle stability than pure NiCo2O4, with 81% remaining capacitance after 3000 cycles. The CCNC 3D nanocomposites are demonstrated to be promising for high-performance supercapacitor applications.

Abstract

Clubroot disease, caused by Plasmodiophora brassicae, is one of the most destructive soil-borne diseases in cruciferous crops worldwide. New strategies are urgently needed to control this disease, as no effective disease-resistant varieties or chemical control agents exist. Previously, we found that the incidence rate and disease index of clubroot in oilseed rape decreased by 50 and 40%, respectively, when oilseed rape was planted after soybean. In order to understand how different rotation patterns affect the occurrence of clubroot in oilseed rape, high-throughput sequencing was used to analyze the rhizosphere microbial community of oilseed rape planted after leguminous (soybean, clover), gramineous (rice, maize) and cruciferous (oilseed rape, Chinese cabbage) crops. Results showed that planting soybeans before oilseed rape significantly increased the population density of microbes that could inhibit P. brassicae (e.g., Sphingomonas, Bacillus, Streptomyces and Trichoderma). Abstract

Information on the vibration characteristics of machinery or civil structures is crucial in identifying or diagnosing potential malfunctions or faults. The use of cameras in vibration frequency measurement enables the acquisition of spatially high-density information of a distant measurement target. Cameras can be used for remote monitoring or as contact-less inspection sensors for machinery or civil structures owing to their low cost, high availability, and ease of installation. However, this requires complex image processing and signal processing algorithms to interpret the vibration frequency from image data. This paper proposes an image- and machine-learning-based method to measure the vibration frequency, in which long short-term memory-recurrent neural networks (LSTM-RNNs) and multi-target learning are used to predict the vibration frequency components directly. The results of the proposed method are compared against the results obtained using an accelerometer and eddy current sensor in the frequency domain. The methodology was applied in forced vibration and free vibration laboratory experiments and real-world structure experiments including a membrane structure and a cable bridge. The experimental results show that the proposed method is robust and accurate. Proposals for future applications and research directions of this methodology and limitations and challenges in real-world implementations are presented.
