Unmanned underwater vehicles play an important role in ocean observation and exploration; however, they do not have long endurance due to energy limitations. This paper proposes an energy self-sufficient underwater profiling buoy that uses ocean thermal energy for buoyancy propulsion and as a power supply, to enable long-term ocean observations. Based on the principle of operation of the proposed buoy, an energy balance model is established that is used to calculate the energy captured by the heat exchangers and the energy consumption of the devices on board. The energy self-sufficiency rate is defined as an indicator for evaluating the impact of the key configuration parameters of the buoy on the energy self-sufficiency performance, which depends on the diving speed, diving depth, and system pressure of the accumulator. In addition, a buoyancy compensation unit with two accumulators is installed on the buoy to compensate for the impact of variations in seawater density on the buoyancy propulsion performance and to overcome buoyancy loss. When the diving speed of the buoy is around 0.24 m/s and the diving depth is above 900 m, the accumulator has an initial pressure of 10 MPa, a driving pressure of 11.1–17.9 MPa, and a charging pressure of 20 MPa, and the energy self-sufficiency rate of the buoy exceeds 100%. This work provides theoretical guidance for realising energy self-sufficiency for other unmanned underwater vehicles.

Academic leadership is considered a key factor in university and research institute development. In a competitive environment, the role of academic leadership has become increasingly important. At present, China is committed to building world-class universities and advanced research institutes, while academic leadership is one of the key factors. Thus, what is the ideal academic leadership in China's institutional environment? What professional qualities should principal investigators have? This study investigates these issues with in-depth interviews of six principal investigators. The finding shows that the definition of academic leadership by principal investigators refers to academic expertise, assigning the team member, setting a direction, academic social skills, managing team member relationships, boosting team morale, and teamwork skills. Furthermore, academic expertise is often supposed to be more important than other abilities. In terms of competence, the definitions of leadership by Chinese principal investigators and the literature on Western academic leadership are similar.

The improvement of teacher leadership is the key to promote the quality of kindergarten education. As a kind of teacher leadership, authentic leadership is related to the teacher's personality traits. This paper collects data on the authentic leadership and personality of 157 teachers in three private kindergartens in Kunming, Yunnan Province of China, and validates the research hypothesis that teacher personality can affect teachers' authentic leadership through SPSS analysis. Based on the descriptive analysis and linear regression analysis, it can be seen that the authentic leadership of private kindergarten teachers in Yunnan Province needs to be further improved, and personality as an inseparable part of predicting leadership needs to be re-emphasized. Results also indicate that when testing personality traits, future researchers must use complete questionnaires instead of short questionnaires.

We aimed to investigate the clinical efficacy of blood purification technology based on cytokine adsorption in the treatment of sepsis. Sixty patients with sepsis were randomly divided into control (n = 30) and experimental (n = 30) groups. Both groups were given routine treatment and continuous venovenous hemofiltration, and on this basis, the experimental group received acrylonitrile/sodium methacrylate (AN69ST) blood purification. The levels of C-reactive protein, procalcitonin, white blood cell count, albumin, platelets, total bilirubin, creatinine, lactic acid, and APACE II score, as well as secretion of inflammatory factors interleukin (IL)-6 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α) were compared. The hospitalization time, mechanical ventilation (MV) time, drug use time, and mortality were analyzed. After treatment, the secretion levels of IL-6 and TNF-α were decreased, and other indicators were significantly improved compared with those before treatment (P < 0.05), especially in the experimental group (P < 0.05). The hospitalization time, MV time, and drug use time in the experimental group were significantly lower than those of the control group (P < 0.05), and the mortality was lower than that in the control group (P < 0.05). In conclusion, blood purification technology based on cytokine adsorption can significantly improve various indicators of sepsis patients, reduce hospitalization time, reduce mortality, and improve the prognosis.

Abstract Obesity-related chronic inflammation is closely related to the ability of immune cells to adapt to the body’s needs, research has shown that excess FAs can further activate pro-inflammatory transcription factors in the nucleus by interacting with various receptors such as CD36 and TLR4, thereby affecting the inflammatory state of cells. However, how the profile of various fatty acids in the blood of obese individuals is associated with chronic inflammation remains unclear. Objective The biomarkers associated with obesity were identified from 40 fatty acids (FAs) in the blood, and analyze the relationship between the biomarkers and chronic inflammation. Furthermore, by analyzing the difference in the expression of CD36, TLR4 and NF-κB p65 in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) between obese and standard weight people, understand that immunophenotype PBMC is associated with chronic inflammation. Methods This study is a cross-sectional study. Participants were recruited from the Yangzhou Lipan weight loss training camp from May 2020 to July 2020. The sample size was 52 individuals, including 25 in the normal weight group and 27 in the obesity group. Individuals with obesity and controls of normal weight were recruited to identify biomarkers associated with obesity from 40 fatty acids in the blood; correlation analysis was conducted between the screened potential biomarkers FAs and the chronic inflammation index hs-CRP to identify FA biomarkers associated with chronic inflammation. Changes in the fatty acid receptor CD36, inflammatory receptor TLR4, and inflammatory nuclear transcription factor NF-κB p65 in PBMC subsets were used to further test the relationship between fatty acids and the inflammatory state in individuals with obesity. Results 23 potential FA biomarkers for obesity were screened, eleven of the potential obesity biomarkers were also significantly related to hs-CRP. Compared to the control group, in monocytes the obesity group expressed higher TLR4, CD36, and NF-κB p65 in lymphocytes, the obesity group expressed higher TLR4 and CD36; and in granulocytes the obesity group expressed higher CD36. Conclusion Blood FAs are associated with obesity and are associated with chronic inflammation through increased CD36, TLR4, and NF-κB p65 in monocytes.
