Objective To systematically evaluate the clinical efficacy of acupuncture in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods The related literatures of 12 databases at home and abroad were searched for the period from the establishment of the database to March 2022. RevMan 5.3 software was used for Meta-analysis. Results A total of 14 randomized controlled trials were included, including 1 344 patients. The results of Meta-analysis showed that acupuncture plus western medicine was superior to western medicine in improving fasting blood glucose［MD=-1.26, 95%CI（-1.50，-1.03）, Z=10.57, P＜0.01］, 2-hour postprandial blood glucose［MD=-1.65, 95%CI（-1.88，-1.42）,Z=14.25, P＜0.01］, glycosylated hemoglobin［MD=-0.97，95%CI（-1.25，-0.69）, Z=6.76, P＜0.01］ and insulin resistance index［MD=-1.35, 95%CI（-1.54，-1.15）, Z=13.23, P＜0.01］. GRADE evidence quality evaluation results showed that 2-hour postprandial blood glucose was high quality evidence, while fasting blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin and insulin resistance index were medium quality evidence. Conclusion The current evidence shows that the efficacy of acupuncture plus western medicine in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus is better than that of western medicine. Acupuncture has a better effect on type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Abstract The atypical spindle cell/pleomorphic lipomatous tumor (ASPLT) was classified as a new tumor by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2020. The tumor is benign and commonly occurs in the limbs. Paraspinal presentations are rare. A 38‐year‐old man presented at our clinic complaining of sudden onset back pain. No neurological deficit was found. The magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed a well‐defined heterogeneous mass in the left psoas muscle, from L1 to L3 extending over the L1 and L2 neuroforamen. The tumor was totally excised. Pathology led to an ASPLT diagnosis. Clinical symptoms improved and there was no postsurgical neurological deficit. This case of ASPLT, located in an uncommon location and present an unusual cluster of symptoms, could be treated by surgical excision, usually the first‐treatment strategy. Totally, removal was achieved because there was a clear morphological margin. The risk of metastatic dissemination was minimal, though there remains a nonnegligible risk of local recurrence.

Sleep-related problems are widespread. Numerous devices for sleep monitoring are increasingly available, including smartwatches, sleep monitoring rings, etc. These devices accumulate and analyze a substantial quantity of physiological data. In this study, we develop a smart air-mattress system that can effectively aid health measurements. The proposed system adopts an air-mattress system to detect subtle changes in pressure and thereby collect micro physiological signals, including ballistocardiography (BCG) and breathing signals. The system uses ultrasonic signals to detect the subject's turning movements. To increase the signal recognition accuracy, the BCG signal is processed effectively to reduce noise interference engendered by the body movement during sleep and is processed using regression analysis for heart rate and breathing rate estimation. Accordingly, the proposed system is unconstrained and can be used to collect micro BCG signals, breathing signals, heart rate signals, and turning movements for the long-term health-care.

As people are accustomed to the popularization of information services, immersive experiences are emphasized, which drives the vigorous development of virtual reality. In practice, devices are limited by their computing capabilities and rely on cloud computing to complete the overall service provided. As a result, technologies of the Internet of Things (IoT) emerge to respond to this demand. As an ideal IoT, in addition to lightweight, it is ideally to possess the following features: easy installation of devices, intelligent networking capability, multi-field equipment sharing, and customizable to meet various needs. However, most of the current IoTs are “Internet of Targets” rather than “Internet of Things”. The Internet of Targets is lacking interoperability because of incompatible communication protocols and interface features among a variety of “devices” leading to different barriers thus hindering its applicability. This research task proposes two new ideas-refactor and feedback. The former meant that the system is able to change transmission path intelligently. The later enables the system reacts and acts appropriately in real time when receiving a stimulation. On the basis of the two factors we construct a conscious system served as the core of the “ideal IoT”. For the practical operating framework, we build a service model that integrates different data formations with feedback. We demonstrate the presented design by realizing a compact IoT system for long-term health care.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are becoming popular in various applications. However, there are still challenging issues to be tackled, such as effective obstacle avoidance, target identification within a crowd, and specific target tracking. This paper focuses on dynamic target following and obstacle avoidance to realize a prototype of a quadcopter drone to serve as an autonomous object follower. An adaptive target identification system is proposed to recognize the specific target in the complicated background. For obstacle avoidance during flight, we introduce an idea of space detection and use it to develop a so-called contour and spiral convolution space detection (CASCSD) algorithm to evade obstacles. Thanks to the low architecture complexity, it is appropriate for implementation on onboard flight control systems. The target prediction is integrated with fuzzified flight control to fulfill an autonomous target tracker. When this series of technical research and development is completed, this system can be used for applications such as personal security guard and criminal detection systems.

Twisted bilayer graphene (TBG) has been extensively studied because of its novel physical properties and potential application in electronic devices. Here we report the synthesis and characterization of 30° TBG naturally grown on Cu0.75Ni0.25 (111) film and investigate the electronic structure by angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. Compared with other substrates, our TBG with a wafer scale is acquired with a shorter growth time. The Fermi velocity and energy gap of Dirac cones of TBG are comparable with those of a monolayer on Cu0.85Ni0.15 (111). The signature of moiré lattices has not been observed in either the low-energy electron diffraction patterns or the Fermi surface map within experimental resolution, possibly due to different Cu and Ni contents in the substrates enhancing the different couplings between the substrate and the first/second layers and hindering the formation of a quasiperiodic structure. In this work, a two‐dimensional (2D) waveguide on the 6.0 × 106‐eV C3+‐ion implanted RbTiOPO4 structure was prepared by the femtosecond laser under the manufacturing parameters of 3.0 μJ energy and 50.0 μm/s ablation velocity. The energy loss and damage profile were simulated by the SRIM 2013 for the irradiation with a fluence of 1 × 1014 ions/cm2. The end‐face and the surface of the 2D RbTiOPO4 crystal waveguide were characterized by a Nikon microscope. The refractive index profile and the near‐field intensity profile were studied by the ICM and the end‐face coupling technique, respectively. The RTP crystal 2D waveguide can well confine the light propagation and has the potentiality to serve as integrated photonic devices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Psoriasis is an inflammatory skin disease with a well-established link to obesity. Excess body weight is associated with higher psoriasis severity. Besides, obesity reduces the effectiveness of systemic therapy. Herein, we reported a morbidly obese patient with severe psoriasis who had only partial response to adalimumab, achieved satisfactory clearance of psoriatic lesions after bariatric surgery in combination with adalimumab therapy. Since bariatric surgery is effective for reducing weight as well as improving psoriasis severity, morbidly obese psoriasis patients who failed noninvasive weight reduction strategies may consider bariatric surgery as a potential adjuvant treatment.
