Sesame is a widely cultivated crop in China, which contains a large amount of fat and protein, as well as dietary fiber, sesame lignans,γ- Aminobutyric acid(GABA) and other active nutrients. In recent years, many studies have pointed out that GABA and sesamol from sesamin could possess anxiolytic and anti-inflammatory properties, but their specific roles and mechanisms during foodborne pathogenic bacterial infections remain unexplored. We analyzed the extract obtained from ethanol-soaked germinated sesame and found that the contents of sesamol and GABA were 6 times and 4 times higher, respectively, compared to non-germinated sesame. Constructing an animal model by infecting mice with Salmonella typhimurium SL1344, and exploring the effects of germinating sesame extract, sesamol, and GABA on Salmonella typhimurium infection in mice. It was found that germinating sesame extract could reduce weight loss in Salmonella infected mice, and improve anxiety behavior in Salmonella infected mice. Germinating sesame extract also reduced Salmonella infection in mouse spleen, and increased colon villus length and mucin content in Salmonella infected mice, which could inhibit colitis factors, and increase acetic acid and propionic acid content in feces. Germinated sesame extract alleviated anxiety and protected the gut in mice infected with Salmonella. This study was aimed to provide a theoretical reference for dietary intervention to alleviate anxiety and protect the gut.

BackgroundChronic pain is a common non-motor symptom of Parkinson’s disease (PD) that significantly impacts patients’ quality of life, but its neural mechanisms remain poorly understood. This study investigated changes in spontaneous neuronal activity and functional connectivity (FC) associated with chronic pain in PD patients.MethodsThe study included 41 PD patients with chronic pain (PDP), 41 PD patients without pain (nPDP), and 29 healthy controls. Pain severity was assessed using the visual analog scale (VAS). Resting-state fMRI images were used to measure the amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations (ALFF) as an indicator of regional brain activity. Subsequently, FC analysis was performed to evaluate synchronization between ALFF-identified regions and the entire brain.ResultsCompared to nPDP patients, PDP patients exhibited decreased ALFF in the right putamen, and increased ALFF in motor regions, including the right superior frontal gyrus/supplementary motor area and the left paracentral lobule/primary motor cortex. Additionally, PDP patients exhibited diminished right putamen-based FC in the midbrain, anterior cingulate cortex, orbitofrontal cortex, middle frontal gyrus, middle temporal gyrus, and posterior cerebellar lobe. The correlation analysis revealed that ALFF values in the right putamen were negatively associated with VAS scores in PDP patients.ConclusionThis study demonstrates that chronic pain in PD is associated with reduced ALFF in the putamen and disrupted FC with brain regions involved in pain perception and modulation, highlighting the critical role of dopaminergic degeneration in the development and maintenance of pain in PD.

For reduce the carbon emissions of grain transportation, improve ment the efficiency of grain transportation and ensurance the safety of grain transportation, this paper constructed a location-routing optimization model of grain transshipment hub driven by low carbon according to the perspective of quantitative analysis. An improved genetic algorithm was designed to solve the model, which could improve and optimize the layout of China's existing grain transportation network. Finally, some provincial capital cities on the key line of grain logistics were selected for analysis and verification. The results showed that The model and algorithm of hub node sitting-route optimization in hub-spoke multimodal transport network could reduce the total grain transportation cost by 13.87%. Carbon emissions were reduced by 11.70%, and the average transfer saturation of hubs was increased by 9.66%. This method was suitable for the actual grain transportation process, and can realize the low-carbon and efficient transportation of grain, which could provide reference for the location and path planning of Chinese grain transport hub under low-carbon drive.

ObjectiveTo understand the use of antibiotics in inpatients and the incidence and trend of hospital infections， to explore the implementation effect of comprehensive management measures， and to provide reference for hospitals to use antibiotics reasonably.MethodsBased on the hospital infection monitoring and management system， a retrospective analysis and comparison were conducted on the use of antibiotics， submission of microbial test samples， and incidence of hospital infections among inpatients in a tertiary hospital from 2012 to 2021.ResultsFrom 2012 to 2021， the use of antibiotics showed a downward trend， from 50.82% in 2012 to 41.29% in 2021. At the same time， the use rate of restricted and special antibiotics had also decreased， and the use rate of restricted and special antibiotics in patients without hospital infection was significantly lower than that in patients with hospital infection， and the microbial testing rate was also on the rise. The annual incidence rate of hospital infection was 0.69%‒1.92%， and the annual case-time prevalence rate was 0.79%‒2.17%. The annual average rate of the above two in 10 years was 1.18% and 1.34%， respectively. The results of the exponential smoothing model also showed that the utilization rate of antibiotics was decreasing and the incidence of nosocomial infection was stable.ConclusionLarge general hospitals took comprehensive management measures to strengthen the management of rational use of antibiotics， which led to a decline in the use rate of antibacterial drugs for inpatients and an increase in the rate of microbial examination. At the same time， the overall incidence of hospital infection was relatively stable， suggesting that the comprehensive management measures of antibacterial drugs in hospitals had achieved certain results. The current measures need to be optimized in the future to continuously improve the management level of rational use of antibacterial drugs.

ObjectiveTo investigate a suspected outbreak of carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii （CRAB） nosocomial infection in an intensive care unit （ICU） and provide scientific evidence for prevention and control of multi-drug resistant nosocomial infection.MethodsClinical and epidemiological data of 4 patients with CRAB infection were retrospectively investigated in the ICU of Renji Hospital in November 2021. Environmental hygiene monitoring and multilocus sequence typing （MLST） were conducted and intervention measures were taken.ResultsA total of 4 cases with CRAB infection were identified， among which 1 case was determined to be community-acquired and 3 cases were hospital-acquired. The isolated strains shared the same drug resistance， and were all classified into ST368 type. In the surface and hand samples （n=40）， 2 CRAB strains were detected in the air filter beside the bed of the first case， with a detection rate of 5%. After adopting comprehensive prevention and control strategies， including environmental cleaning and disinfection， hand hygiene， staff management and training， and supervision， no similar case with CRAB infection was found.ConclusionThis suspected outbreak of CRAB nosocomial infection may be induced by inadequate environmental cleaning and disinfection， and inadequate implementation of hand hygiene. Timely identification， investigation， and targeted measures remain crucial to effective control of possible nosocomial infection.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the measles surveillance system （MSS） in Jiading District， Shanghai from 2020 to 2022， and to provide evidence for the elimination of measles.MethodsDescriptive methods were used to analyze the MSS data and confirmed measles cases from 2020 to 2022 and to evaluate MSS performance indicators.ResultsA total of 120 suspected cases were reported through the MSS from 2020 to 2022， of which 12 were classified as measles， 9 as rubella， and 99 as non-measles /rubella. The incidence of reported non-measles /rubella was 1.44 per 100 000 population in 2020， 2.01 per 100 000 population in 2021， and 1.99 per 100 000 population in 2022. The rates of complete investigation within 48 hours， blood samples and etiology collection， timely delivery， and timely reporting were all 100%. Among the 12 confirmed measles cases from 2020 to 2022， seven routine immunization subjects completed the required doses of measles vaccines， while two out five adult cases had a history of measles vaccine-related immunization. The confirmed cases comprised six with fever accompanied by rash， five with rash alone， and one with fever alone.ConclusionThe MSS results in Jiading District， Shanghai are overall satisfactory. However， there is a need to improve sensitivity， especially in detecting and reporting cases with atypical symptoms. It is imperative to maintain high vaccination coverage for age-appropriate children， promote supplementary immunization activities， and elevate the overall immunity of the entire population.

Functional movement disorder (FMD) is a common subtype of functional neurological disorder (FND). Currently, multi⁃disciplinary team (MDT) is recommended for FMD. In addition to drug and psychological treatment, rehabilitation treatment is also of great value. Rehabilitation treatment improve the motor control function of patients through the comprehensive application of physical therapy, non ⁃ invasive nerve stimulation therapy and occupational therapy, enhance the activities of daily living (ADL). This article reviews the progress of rehabilitation treatment for FMD, so as to provide theoretical basis for accurate rehabilitation treatment for FMD.

Objective: To develop fermented baked goods containing coconut powder. Methods: The texture and fermentation rheological properties of coconut flour-wheat flour dough were measured by full texture compression test of TA.XT Plus C physical property tester and F4 Chopin fermentation rheometer. Results: The addition of coconut flour significantly improved dough hardness, chewiness and gumminess. However, the effects on springiness and adhesiveness were different. The dough with 3% coconut flour showed a decrease in dough fermentation performance, such as being harder, delayed fermentation, and small in volume, while the dough with 1% and 5% coconut flour showed a high degree of collapse, air leakage and other phenomena of insufficient stable air holding capacity. In addition, when 1% of coconut powder was added, the gluten network structure of the dough was obviously broken, showing irregular sheets. When the coconut flour was further added （3%）, the gluten network structure of the dough gradually thinned out. When the addition of coconut powder was increased to 5%, the broken structure of gluten was obvious improved. Conclusion: The addition of coconut flour changed the texture properties of dough and decreased its fermentation rheological properties. And the low content of coconut powder damaged the gluten network structure, while the high content of coconut powder could improve the gluten network structure and enhance the continuity of dough.

Objective: The flow channel distribution of polylactic acid in four screw extruder with different screw arrangement was studied. Methods: The three-dimensional modeling software Solidworks was used to establish the screw model and the corresponding fluid region model under the arrangement of one-word screw, four-square screw and encircle screw. Numerical simulation was carried out by the simulation software Polyflow. Results: The screw arrangement of monotype and surround type had better pressure building ability and distribution mixing ability than the square arrangement, and the square arrangement had weaker transport ability of polylactic acid. Conclusion: The four-screw extruder with one-line screw arrangement has a good effect on the processing of PLA.

The morphology and distribution of reinforcements in the titanium matrix composites (TMCs) are crucial in determining the material performances. Due to the uncontrollable morphology and inhomogeneous distribution of the reinforcements in the current TMCs, a series of C-coated Ti composite powders were developed by fluidization technology. By designing the structure and composition of C-coatings, the different morphology combinations and the intragranular/interface reinforcements were both achieved, which significantly improved the mechanical properties of TMCs. Furthermore, the composite powders were also extended to the 3D printing of TMCs, which solved the bottleneck issue of lacking the high-quality composite powders. The research results and work progress of the C-coated Ti composite powders in the preparation of high-performance TMCs were summarized and reviewed, providing the new insight and technical route for the design and control of reinforcements in TMCs.

BackgroundFreezing of gait (FOG) is common in the late stage of Parkinson’s disease (PD), which can lead to disability and impacts the quality of life. Therefore, early recognition is crucial for therapeutic intervention. We aimed to explore the abnormal regional homogeneity (ReHo) and functional connectivity (FC) in FOG converters and evaluate their diagnostic values.MethodsThe data downloaded from the Parkinson’s Disease Progression Markers Project (PPMI) cohort was subdivided into PD-FOG converters (n = 16) and non-converters (n = 17) based on whether FOG appeared during the 3-year follow-up; 16 healthy controls were well-matched. ReHo and FC analyses were used to explore the variations in spontaneous activity and interactions between significant regions among three groups of baseline data. Correlations between clinical variables and the altered ReHo values were assessed in FOG converter group. Last, logistic regression and receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) were used to predict diagnostic value.ResultsCompared with the non-converters, FOG converters had reduced ReHo in the bilateral medial superior frontal gyrus (SFGmed), which was negatively correlated with the postural instability and gait difficulty (PIGD) score. ReHo within left amygdala/olfactory cortex/putamen (AMYG/OLF/PUT) was decreased, which was correlated with anxiety and autonomic dysfunction. Also, increased ReHo in the left supplementary motor area/paracentral lobule was positively correlated with the rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder screening questionnaire. FOG converters exhibited diminished FC in the basal ganglia, limbic area, and cognitive control cortex, as compared with non-converters. The prediction model combined ReHo of basal ganglia and limbic area, with PIGD score was the best predictor of FOG conversion.ConclusionThe current results suggested that abnormal ReHo and FC in the basal ganglia, limbic area, and cognitive control cortex may occur in the early stage of FOG. Basal ganglia and limbic area dysfunction combined with higher PIGD score are useful for the early recognition of FOG conversion.

Hydroxyurea(HU) is a reducing and complexing agent that can be used in the PUREX process. Zr is an important fission product in the spent fuel and main element of concern in the nuclear fuel reprocessing. The decontamination of zirconium in the route of plutonium and uranium can be lowered by the complexation of hydroxyurea in the PUREX process. The complexation of Zr(Ⅳ) with hydroxyurea in the nitric acid system was investigated in this work. Under the condition of 0.3 mol/L HNO3, the complex ratio of Zr(Ⅳ) with HU is 1∶8 obtained by Job’s method. Combining with the half-integer method, the apparent stability constants of Zr(Ⅳ) with hydroxyurea are calculated as following: lg K1≈1.59, lg K2≈1.75, lg K3≈1.88, lg K4≈1.98, lg K5≈2.09, lg K6≈2.27, lg K7≈2.51, lg K8≈3.01. Under 1.0 mol/L HNO3, the complex ratio of Zr(Ⅳ) with hydroxyurea is 1∶4, and the apparent stability constants of Zr(Ⅳ) with hydroxyurea are lg K1≈2.33, lg K2≈2.51, lg K3≈2.78, lg K4≈3.31. Under 3.0 mol/L HNO3, the complex ratio of Zr(Ⅳ) with hydroxyurea is 1∶2, and the apparent stability constants of Zr(Ⅳ) with hydroxyurea are lg K1≈2.69 and lg K2≈2.79.

In this paper, the half-reaction time of the reaction between hydrazine and its derivatives with nitrous acid is measured using spectrophotometry and stopped-flow injection device. Using Gaussian09 and HyperChem, hydrazine and its derivatives have been structurally optimized and some quantization parameters are calculated. Combining the half-reaction time and the quantization parameters, and using statistical regression analysis, QSAR model of the reaction between hydrazine and its derivatives with nitrous acid is established. The results show that total energy of molecules is the most important influencing factor in the reaction, and the half-reaction time increases with total energy of the molecule except for allyl hydrazine, the reaction rate decreases with the increase of total energy of the molecule.

Objective: To investigate the effect of the screw configuration on the polylactic acid flow field on the structural parameters of the screw on the end face of the screw in the meshing counter rotating twin screw extruder. Methods: The theoretical model of the heterodirectional double-ended threaded element was established by Solidworks software and the geometry of the threaded element after adjusting the structural parameters in two different ways. The established three-dimensional model was imported into Gambit software for meshing, and then Polyflow software was applied to the flow field simulation calculation. Finally, the flow field distribution results were extracted by Fieldview software, and the effects of the adjustment of the structural parameters on the end surface of the threaded element during correction were compared and analyzed on the shear rate field, viscosity field and speed field. Results: The structural parameters of the threaded element during correction will affect the polylactic acid flow field after being adjusted in two ways. The two adjustment methods of structural parameters have reduced the shear rate gradient in the runner to varying degrees, and the first method has also caused the viscosity of the polymer lactic acid in the runner to be reduced. Conclusion: From the perspective of the influence on the shear rate field, viscosity field and speed field, the threaded element adjusted by mode one is more conducive to extrusion, while the solid configuration of the threaded element adjusted by mode two is closer to the theoretical configuration of the threaded component.

Objective: Explore the effects of different combinations of forward screw elements in the melt conveying section on the melt conveying characteristics of reverse screw elements. Methods: Two different models were constructed by changing the lead, using SolidWorks software to establish a three-dimensional model, and using Polyflow software to numerically simulate the extrusion process of the two models in the melt conveying section. The effects of the screw groove width and screw edge thickness of the screw elements on the flow field under different lead lengths and the changes in the flow field at different rotational speeds were analyzed, and the effects of rotational speed on the material mixing were verified through experiments. Results: The constructed model can allow the melt to pass through the reverse threaded element. At the same screw speed, the pressure building capacity and conveying capacity of model one constructed from large lead screw elements were stronger than that of model two constructed from small lead screw elements. Model one was superior to Model two in terms of decentralized mixing ability, and weaker than Model two in terms of distributed mixing ability. Under the same pressure difference at both ends, increasing the rotational speed could improve the dispersion and mixing effects of materials. Conclusion: Using model one in the improved processing of polylactic acid and increasing the rotational speed of the screw can further crush the material and improve the quality of the extrusion.

ObjectiveTo explore the effect of Erythronium sibiricum bulb polysaccharides on asthma and its mechanism based on oxidative stress.MethodsFifty female BALB/c mice were randomly divided into the negative control group， asthma model group， dexamethasone group， low and high-dose Erythronium sibiricum bulb polysaccharides groups. Except the negative control group， the asthma model was established by sensitizing with chicken egg albumin （OVA）. The number and classification of inflammatory cells in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid （BALF） were determined by a whole blood analyzer. Hematoxylin-eosin （HE）， Periodate acid-Schiff （PAS） and Masson staining were used to observe the lung pathology of asthmatic mice. The contents of malondialdehyde （MDA） and the activity of superoxide dismutase （SOD） in serum were detected by colorimetry. Determination of protein expression and mRNA abundance of nuclear factor erythroid2-related factor 2（Nrf2）， HemeoxygenasE1 （HO-1） and Vascular endothelial growth factor （VEGF） in the lung were detected by immunohistochemistry and real-time fluorescence determination polymerase chain reaction （RT-PCR）.ResultsCompared with the negative control group， the numbers of total inflammatory cells， neutrophils， monocytes and eosinophils in the BALF of the model group were significantly increased （P

Objective: To establish a method for the preparation of acetamiprid matrix reference material in cowpeas. Methods: Planted fresh blank cowpea which meets the requirements of reference material development was selected as the research object to obtain dry powder after crushed, freeze-dried, added, mixed, twice freeze-dried, crushed, screened, mixed, packaged and Co60 irradiation sterilized. The dry powder sample was determined by Liquid Chromatography Tandem Mass Spectrometry （LC-MS/MS） and calibrated for quantitative determination by matrix standard solution. After homogeneity and stability studies, coordinated value was determined by 9 laboratories and the uncertainty was evaluated. Results: The prepared sample of cowpea freeze-dried powder had good homogeneity and stability, for which it was convenient to storage transport and preserve in stable status during the testing time. The property value and expanded uncertainty of acetamiprid was （0.283 7±0.008 5） mg/kg （k=2）, certified by 9 independent laboratories. Conclusion: The matrix reference material prepared by this method has good homogeneity, stability and accuracy in request of the national metrology technical specification, which can be used in the quality control in process of testing, calibration of analytical instruments and development and verification of testing method, etc.

Low strength has always been one of the main factors limiting the application of foams. We acquire a natural rubber latex/MXene foam composite with high strength and versatility by adding MXene to the natural rubber latex. It is shown that natural rubber latex foam (NRF) with 2 and 3 phr of MXene shows obviously enhanced tensile strength by 171% and 157% separately as compared to that of neat NRF. Furthermore, the composite also has better electrical conductivity and electromagnetic shielding than NRF, which can be used in the automotive industry, aviation industry, and many other aspects.

PurposeThis study aimed to develop machine learning models for the diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease (PD) using multiple structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features and validate their performance.MethodsBrain structural MRI scans of 60 patients with PD and 56 normal controls (NCs) were enrolled as development dataset and 69 patients with PD and 71 NCs from Parkinson’s Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI) dataset as independent test dataset. First, multiple structural MRI features were extracted from cerebellar, subcortical, and cortical regions of the brain. Then, the Pearson’s correlation test and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression were used to select the most discriminating features. Finally, using logistic regression (LR) classifier with the 5-fold cross-validation scheme in the development dataset, the cerebellar, subcortical, cortical, and a combined model based on all features were constructed separately. The diagnostic performance and clinical net benefit of each model were evaluated with the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis and the decision curve analysis (DCA) in both datasets.ResultsAfter feature selection, 5 cerebellar (absolute value of left lobule crus II cortical thickness (CT) and right lobule IV volume, relative value of right lobule VIIIA CT and lobule VI/VIIIA gray matter volume), 3 subcortical (asymmetry index of caudate volume, relative value of left caudate volume, and absolute value of right lateral ventricle), and 4 cortical features (local gyrification index of right anterior circular insular sulcus and anterior agranular insula complex, local fractal dimension of right middle insular area, and CT of left supplementary and cingulate eye field) were selected as the most distinguishing features. The area under the curve (AUC) values of the cerebellar, subcortical, cortical, and combined models were 0.679, 0.555, 0.767, and 0.781, respectively, for the development dataset and 0.646, 0.632, 0.690, and 0.756, respectively, for the independent test dataset, respectively. The combined model showed higher performance than the other models (Delong’s test, all p-values < 0.05). All models showed good calibration, and the DCA demonstrated that the combined model has a higher net benefit than other models.ConclusionThe combined model showed favorable diagnostic performance and clinical net benefit and had the potential to be used as a non-invasive method for the diagnosis of PD.

Hyperlipidemia is an important lipid disorder and a risk factor for health. Aspirin eugenol ester (AEE) is a novel synthetic compound which is made up of two chemical structural units from aspirin and eugenol. Therapeutic effect of AEE on hyperlipidemia has been confirmed in animal model. But the action mechanism of AEE on hyperlipidemia is still poorly understood. In this study, we investigated the effects of AEE on liver and feces metabolic profile through UPLC-Q-TOF/MS-based untargeted metabolomics in hyperlipidemia hamster induced with high fat diet (HFD), and the effects of AEE on the expression of genes and proteins related to cholesterol and bile acid (BA) in HFD-induced hyperlipidemia SD rat. The concentrations of 26 bile acids (BAs) in the liver from hyperlipidemia SD rat were also quantified with the application of BA targeted metabolomics. The results of untargeted metabolomics showed that the underlying mechanism of AEE on hyperlipidemia was mainly associated with amino acid metabolism, glutathione metabolism, energy metabolism, BA metabolism, and glycerophospholipid metabolism. AEE induced the expression of the BA-synthetic enzymes cholesterol 7α-hydroxylase (CYP7A1) by the inhibition of BA nuclear receptor farnesoid X receptor (FXR) in liver, which resulted in accelerating the conversion of cholesterol into bile acids and excrete in feces. The results of BA targeted metabolomics showed that AEE elevated the glycine-conjugated BA level and decreased the tauro-conjugated BA level. In conclusion, this study found that AEE decreased FXR and increased CYP7A1 in the liver, which might be the possible molecular mechanisms and targets of AEE for anti-hyperlipidemia therapies.

Recent research on Parkinson's disease (PD) has demonstrated the topological abnormalities of structural covariance networks (SCNs) using various morphometric features from structural magnetic resonance images (sMRI). However, the sulcal depth (SD)-based SCNs have not been investigated. In this study, we used SD to investigate the topological alterations of SCNs in 60 PD patients and 56 age- and gender-matched healthy controls (HC). SCNs were constructed by thresholding SD correlation matrices of 68 regions and analyzed using graph theoretical approaches. Compared with HC, PD patients showed increased normalized clustering coefficient and normalized path length, as well as a reorganization of degree-based and betweenness-based hubs (i.e., less frontal hubs). Moreover, the degree distribution analysis showed more high-degree nodes in PD patients. In addition, we also found the increased assortativity and reduced robustness under a random attack in PD patients compared to HC. Taken together, these findings indicated an abnormal topological organization of SD-based SCNs in PD patients, which may contribute in understanding the pathophysiology of PD at the network level.

This empirical study was designed to assess the influence of psycho-physiological components in English-to-Chinese interpreting course. Based on PACET’s model of translation competence and its depiction of psycho-physiological components, and with an aim to gain insights into the underlying effective interpretation strategies used by learns to overcome psycho-physiological uneasiness, the study adopted the method of comparative analysis on the differences between student and professional interpreters’ strategy-choosing. The study examined how professional and student interpreters perform interpretation from the perspective of psycho-physiology and what attributes to their different strategic choice. Based on the analysis, the results were obtained and the conclusions were drawn about the influences of psycho-physiological components in learners’ interpreting process.

Vancomycin has been the primary agent used to treat serious Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection for many years. However, the rise of MRSA infection rates and the extensive use of vancomycin have led to the emergence of reduced vancomycin susceptibility. Therefore, four typical Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) strains from different clinical specimens were derivated by vancomycin in vitro to better clarify their phenotypic and molecular characteristics. Some experiments, such as stepwise selection of vancomycin-resistant strains, pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE), antimicrobial susceptibility test, population analysis profile-area under the curve (PAP-AUC), molecular typing, transmission electron microscopy, δ-hemolysin expression, autolysis assay, biofilm assay and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) for gene expression were carried out to compare the derivated bacteria with their parental strains. Results showed that the observed phenotypes of vancomycin-resistant strains such as hemolysin, autolysis and biofilm significantly reduced, which were associated with vancomycin resistance capability of the selected strain. The changes of phenotype and regulatory genes expression were inversely proportional to the vancomycin minimum inhibitory concentration (MICvan). Most heterogeneous vancomycin intermediate Staphylococcus aureus (hVISA) or VISA strains belonged to spa type t570 and agr group II. In summary, the clinical isolated vancomycin susceptible Staphylococcus aureus (VSSA), hVISA and VISA could be derivated into high vancomycin-resistant VISA in vitro, but it was difficult for them to develop into vancomycin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (VRSA). VISA and hVISA could gradually adapt to the environment with the vancomycin concentration that continuously elevates.
