Abstract Background Dancers have a higher prevalence of hallux valgus (HV) than the general population. However, no reports specifically addressing treatment strategies for HV in dancers, or their effectiveness have been published. This study aimed to determine the effects of 4 weeks of foot exercises on subjective clinical outcomes, the HV angle, and change of foot plantar pressure during specific dance techniques. Methods Thirteen female elite adolescent dancesport athletes (age: 16.4 ± 3.3 years) completed the program. The HV angle was measured based on foot photographs. Abstract Background This study aimed to determine the risk factors of hallux valgus angle among preprofessional adolescent dancesport athletes. Methods A total of 275 athletes, (73 males and 202 females) aged between the ages of 11 and 18 years, participated in this study. A cross‐sectional questionnaire was used to survey their demographic characteristics (sex and age), training information (starting age, weekly training time, and athletic career [number of years of training at this specific dancesport school]), and measured their height and weight. The hallux valgus angle was measured based on foot photographs. The chi‐square test was used to compare the difference with prevalence of hallux valgus between male and female athletes. A normal distribution test was performed, and based on the test results, unpaired t‐test and multiple logistic regression were conducted to identify training factors for the hallux valgus in this cohort. Results Chi‐square test showed higher prevalence of hallux valgus in female elite adolescent dancesport athletes than males. The t‐test results did not show any significant differences between the hallux valgus group and non‐hallux valgus groups with start age, athletic career, and weekly training time. Abstract Background Paired box 1 (PAX1) is a transcription factor and essential for the development of pharyngeal pouches-derived tissues, including thymus. PAX1 mutations are identified in Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID) patients with Otofaciocervical Syndrome Type 2 (OTFCS2). However, despite the critical roles of PAX1 in embryonic development and diseases, detailed insights into its molecular mode of action are critically missing. Methods The repressing roles of PAX1 and SCID associated mutants on Wnt signaling pathway were investigated by luciferase reporter assays, qRT-PCR and in situ hybridization in HEK293FT, HCT116 cells and zebrafish embryos, respectively. Co-immunoprecipitation (co-IP) and western blotting assays were carried out to identify the molecular mechanisms underlying PAX1’s role on Wnt signaling pathway. hESC based endoderm differentiation, flow cytometry, high-throughput sequencing data analysis, and qRT-PCR assays were utilized to determine the roles of PAX1 during endoderm differentiation. Results Here, we show that PAX1 represses canonical Wnt signaling pathway in vertebrate cells. Mechanically, PAX1 competes with SUMO E3 ligase PIASy to bind to TCF7L2, thus perturbing TCF7L2 SUMOylation level, further reducing its transcriptional activity and protein stability. Moreover, we reveal that PAX1 plays dual roles in hESC-derived definitive and foregut/pharyngeal endoderm cells, which give rise to the thymus epithelium, by inhibiting Wnt signaling. Importantly, our data show PAX1 mutations found in SCID patients significantly compromise the suppressing ability of PAX1 on Wnt signaling. Conclusions Our study presents a novel molecular mode of action of PAX1 in regulation of canonical Wnt signaling and endoderm differentiation, thus providing insights for the molecular basis of PAX1 associated SCID, offering better understanding of the behavior of PAX1 in embryogenesis.

Commercial lactic acid bacteria strains and indigenous Chinese acetic acid bacterium were co-cultivated bi- and tri-culturally in Junzao jujube puree for the first time to investigate their effects on physicochemical properties and quality attributes. Lactic-acetic acid bacteria co-fermentation was performed at 37 °C for 48 h during the anaerobic fermentation phase and at 30 °C for 144 h during aerobic fermentation. FTIR results showed that predominant wave numbers at 1716–1724 cm−1 and 2922–3307 cm−1 exhibited discernible alterations in the lactic-acetic acid co-fermented jujube purees compared to the control sample. Pearson correlation analysis showed that the flavonoid and flavonol contents were responsible for the enhanced 2,2′-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl scavenging activities of the fermented jujube purees. Consequently, fermented jujube puree from tricultures of Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus plantarum, and Acetobacter pasteurianus gave the best results, with the highest phenolics, flavonoid, and flavonol contents and the most improved antioxidative properties and color. Overall, lactic-acetic acid bacteria co-culture holds significant promise in valorizing Junzao jujube purees for functional ingredient development, paving the way for further research into similar interactions with different food matrices or microbial strains.

Jujubes (Ziziphus jujuba Mill), characterized by a rich profile of bioactive compounds, have been historically less exploited due to their unappealing sensory characteristics when dried, including delayed bitterness and a limited shelf life when fresh. Co-fermented jujube puree has emerged as a strategy for enhancing its functional food potential. This study examined the impact of 8-day bicultured Junzao jujube puree, employing both commercial and indigenous Chinese lactic and acetic acid bacteria. Our investigation encompassed an assessment of functionality (cellular profile, antioxidant properties, color, free amino acids, phenolic profiling, volatiles elucidation using headspace-solid phase microextraction gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS), aroma analysis using electronic nose), and microstructural analysis using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Viable counts of bicultured purees showed probiotic effects exceeding 6–7 log CFU/mL. Strong positive correlations were observed between phenolic compounds (chlorogenic acid, rutin, p-coumaric acid) and antioxidant capacities (ABTS-RSA and DPPH-RSA). The darker color of raw jujube puree was modified, exemplified by a significant (p < 0.05) negative correlation between overall color difference and cyanidin 3-O-rutinoside (R2 = −0.768). Purees, particularly those containing bicultures of Lactobacillus helveticus Lh 43 and Acetobacter pasteurianus Ap-As.1.41 HuNiang 1.01 exhibited the highest potential free amino acid content (157.17 ± 1.12 mg/100 g FW) compared to the control (184.03 ± 1.16 mg/100 g FW) with a distinctive formation of L-methionine in biculture of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum Lp 28 and A. pasteurianus Ap-As.1.41 HuNiang 1.01. The phenolic profile of Lacticaseibacillus casei Lc 122 and A. pasteurianus Ap-As.1.41 HuNiang 1.01 increased by 22.79% above the control (48.34 mg/100 g FW) while biculture: L. helveticus Lh 43 and A. pasteurianus Ap-As.1.41 HuNiang 1.01 were enhanced by 4.37%, with the lowest profile in Lp. plantarum Lp 28 and A. pasteurianus Ap-As.1.41 HuNiang 1.01 (46.85 mg/100 g FW). The electronic nose revealed the predominant presence of sulfur, terpenes, and alcohol sensor bioactives in the fermented purees. HS-SPME-GC-MS analysis identified 80 volatile compounds in the bicultured purees, with esters constituting the major group (42%). Furthermore, SEM analysis unveiled massive microscopic alterations in the bicultured purees compared to the unfermented puree. These results collectively demonstrated that lactic–acetic acid co-fermentation serves to biovalorize Junzao jujube puree, enhancing its organoleptic appeal and extending its shelf life.

To improve the quality of fermented chickpea beverages, a highly nutritious substitute for dairy, the Box-Behnken design and the response surface methodology were used to obtain optimized ultrasonic parameters for producing ultrasound-assisted fermented chickpea beverages. The determining parameters were the lactic acid, reducing sugar content, and the cell viability of the treated product. The most significant parameters obtained were frequency and treatment duration, while power density was relatively insignificant. The optimum fermentation parameters obtained were a treatment start time of 3 h, treatment duration of 80 min, frequency of 27.5 kHz, and power density of 100 W/L with optimum yields of 0.23096 mg/mL, 2.92898 mg/mL, and 0.488189 for reducing sugar, lactic acid, and cell viability index, respectively, with desirability above 0.95. Further analysis of the ultrasound treatment’s effect on the product’s structure showed the ultrasound-assisted fermented chickpea beverage was more structurally stable and homogenous, with even distribution of macromolecules present.

Ultrasound-assisted fermentation is a promising approach for improving food products’ nutritional and sensory qualities. This study compared the effects of ultrasound-assisted fermentation on chickpea-based beverages’ nutritive and sensory components. Proximate, phytochemical, and microstructural data were examined to evaluate the effectiveness of the processing techniques. The processed samples demonstrated significantly higher (p < 0.05) nutritional and sensory outcomes compared to the unfermented sample. The unfermented sample had a total phytochemical level of 55.41 g/mL, whereas the fermented and ultrasound-assisted fermented samples had phytochemical contents of 66.71 and 64.51 µg/mL, respectively. With values of 8.37 ± 0.11 and 7.21 ± 0.06, respectively, on a 9-point hedonic scale, the sensory evaluation revealed that the traditionally fermented sample had a greater acceptability rate than the ultrasound-treated sample. The presence of organic acids in the final product was shown to be significantly impacted by fermentation, with propanoic having the highest concentrations of 1.79 ± 3 × 10−5a, 5.56 ± 2 × 10−5b, and 3.50 ± 0.00344c mg/mL for the unfermented, fermented, and ultrasound-assisted fermented beverages, respectively. According to these results, using ultrasound-assisted fermentation with reduced fermentation time can improve chickpea-based beverages’ nutritional and functional benefits.

Atherosclerosis is a potentially life-threatening cardiovascular disease characterized by chronic endothelial inflammation and the formation of atherosclerotic lesions. Circulating ox-LDL is known to induce atherosclerosis by triggering oxidative stress, the expression of inflammatory mediators and adhesion molecules, as well as downregulating the atheroprotective transcriptional factor KLF2. Aloperine is an alkaloid compound isolated from the plant Sophora alopecuroides. Here, we employed various experimental methods to determine the effects of aloperine on ox-LDL-induced markers of atherosclerosis. DHE staining revealed that aloperine may restore the oxidant/antioxidant balance in HUVECs by reducing the level of ROS and rescuing the reduction in NOQ-1 and GCLC induced by ox-LDL. Aloperine treatment reduced ox-LDL-induced expression of IL-6, MCP-1, VCAM-1, and E-selectin and rescued the reduction in KLF2. Aloperine also downregulated ox-LDL-induced expression of the LOX-1. We also demonstrate that aloperine improved cell viability and inhibited the adhesion of U937 monocytes to HUVECs. Finally, we demonstrate that the effects of aloperine are mediated through the rescue of KLF2 expression via suppression of the phosphorylation of p53 protein. Together, our results implicate the potential of aloperine as a safe and effective antiatherosclerosis treatment.

Abstract Background Accumulating evidence indicates that high-fat diet (HFD)-induced metabolic disorders are associated with dysbiosis of the gut microbiota. However, the sex-specific characteristics of the gut microbiota and its association with a sexually dimorphic response to a HFD remain unclear. Methods Male and female mice were randomly assigned to receive a chow diet (CD) or HFD for 12 weeks. A group of HFD mice were pretreated with antibiotic cocktails for 4 weeks. Body weight, insulin sensitivity and the levels of serum metabolic parameters (blood glucose and insulin) were evaluated. 16S rRNA gene sequencing was performed to analyze the composition of the gut microbiota. Results HFD-induced body weight gain (BWG) was higher in male mice than in female mice. While insulin resistance was increased in the HFD group compared to CD group in male mice, there was no difference in insulin resistance among female mice. Antibiotic-pretreatment alleviated HFD-induced insulin resistance in male mice and elevated fasting blood glucose in female mice. The composition of the gut microbiota in male mice was remarkably different from that in female mice independent of diet. A higher abundance of the genera Parabacteroides, Lactobacillus, Bacteroides, and Bifidobacterium was observed in females than inmales. HFD feeding also influenced the structure of the gut microbiota, as it decreased the abundance of short-chain fatty acids-producing bacteria including Roseburia and Lachnospiraceae_NK4A136_group. Alterations in the gut microbiota in response to antibiotics followed by HFD were different between males and females, indicating sex-dependent sensitivity to antibiotics. Conclusions We identified that sex had a greater impact on the composition of gut microbiota than environmental factors (HFD and antibiotics). The enrichment of beneficial microbes in female mice may be associated with the resistance of female mice to HFD-induced metabolic disorders, which was weakened by antibiotic pretreatment.

Cardiac transcription factors orchestrate a regulatory network controlling cardiovascular development. Isl1, a LIM-homeodomain transcription factor, acts as a key player in multiple organs during embryonic development. Its crucial roles in cardiovascular development have been elucidated by extensive studies, especially as a marker gene for the second heart field progenitors. Here, we summarize the roles of Isl1 in cardiovascular development and function, and outline its cellular and molecular modes of action, thus providing insights for the molecular basis of cardiovascular diseases.

Laser cutting belongs to non-contact processing, which is different from traditional turning and milling. In order to improve the machining accuracy of laser cutting, a thermal error prediction and dynamic compensation strategy for laser cutting is proposed. Based on the time-varying characteristics of the digital twin technology, a hybrid model combining the thermal elastic–plastic finite element (TEP-FEM) and T-XGBoost algorithms is established. The temperature field and thermal deformation under 12 common working conditions are simulated and analyzed with TEP-FEM. Real-time machining data obtained from TEP-FEM simulation is used in intelligent algorithms. Based on the XGBoost algorithm and the simulation data set as the training data set, a time-series-based segmentation algorithm (T-XGBoost) is proposed. This algorithm can reduce the maximum deformation at the slit by more than 45%. At the same time, by reducing the average volume strain under most working conditions, the lifting rate can reach 63% at the highest, and the machining result is obviously better than XGBoost. The strategy resolves the uncontrollable thermal deformation during cutting and provides theoretical solutions to the implementation of the intelligent operation strategies such as predictive machining and quality monitoring.

Background: Adolescent DanceSport athletes who regularly dance in high heels have a higher possibility of developing hallux valgus deformity and foot pain. We believe that the occurrence of foot disorders may change the loading on their feet, which thus affects the athletic performance of those adolescents. Methods: A total of 63 adolescent DanceSport athletes (16 boys, 47 girls) were included. The plantar pain in the first metatarsophalangeal (1st MTP) joint was evaluated using a questionnaire, and the hallux valgus angle was evaluated using digital photographs (HVAp). The loading values of the plantar pressure while performing relève on demi-pointe were measured using sensor sheets. The participating boys and girls were analyzed separately. Results: The results showed that female adolescent DanceSport athletes with the 1st MTP joint plantar pain showed a decrease in the loading distribution and plantar pressure percentage on the hallux and an increased loading distribution and pressure distribution of the metatarsal head as the HVAp increased. Conclusion: Among adolescent DanceSport athletes with plantar pain in the 1st MTP joint and a large HVAp, the loading manner of the foot may have changed, which may be associated with a decrease in the toe function and performance.

We, along with others, have shown previously that P21-activated kinase 1 (Pak1) plays a pivotal role in gastric cancer progression and metastasis. However, whether Pak1 controls gastric cancer metastasis by regulating microRNAs (miRNAs) has never been explored. Here, we report a novel mechanism of Pak1 in tumor metastasis. A detailed examination revealed that Pak1 interacts with and phosphorylates the serine 62 residue of ATF2 and then blocks its translocation into the nucleus. We also confirmed that ATF2 binds to the promoter of miR-132 and tightly regulates its transcription, thus explaining the regulatory mechanism of miR-132 by Pak1. miR-132 also significantly reduced cell adhesion, migration, and invasion of gastric cancer cells in vitro and significantly prevented tumor metastasis in vivo. miR-132 specifically inhibited hematogenous metastasis, but not lymph node or implantation metastases. In order to further delineate the effects of the Pak1/ATF2/miR-132 cascade on gastric cancer progression, we identified several targets of miR-132 using a bioinformatics TargetScan algorithm. Notably, miR-132 reduced the expression of CD44 and fibronectin1 (FN1), and such inhibition enabled lymphocytes to home in on gastric cancer cells and induce tumor apoptosis. Taken together, our studies establish a novel cell-signaling pathway and open new possibilities for therapeutic intervention of gastric cancer. Accumulating evidence suggests that high-fat diet (HFD) induced metabolic disorders are associated with dysbiosis of gut microbiota. However, no study has explored the effect of HFD on the gastric microbiota. This study established the HFD animal model to determine the impact of HFD on the gastric microbiota and its relationship with the alterations of gut microbiota. A total of 40 male C57BL/6 mice were randomly allocated to receive a standard chow diet (CD) or HFD for 12 weeks (12CD group and 12HFD group) and 24 weeks (24CD group and 24HFD group) (n = 10 mice per group). Body weight and length were measured and Lee’s index was calculated at different time points. The insulin sensitivity and serum levels of metabolic parameters including blood glucose, insulin and lipid were also evaluated. The gastric mucosa and fecal microbiota of mice were characterized by 16S rRNA gene sequencing. The body weight was much heavier and the Lee’s index was higher in 24HFD group than 12HFD. The insulin resistance and serum level of lipid were increased in 24HFD group compared to 12HFD, indicating the aggravation of metabolic disorders as HFD went on. 16S rRNA gene sequencing showed dysbiosis of gastric microbiota with decreased community diversity while no significant alteration in gut microbiota after 12 weeks of HFD. The phyla Firmicutes and Proteobacteria tended to increase whereas Bacteroidetes and Verrucomicrobia decrease in the gastric microbiota of 12HFD mice compared to 12CD. Moreover, a remarkable reduction of bacteria especially Akkermansia muciniphila, which has beneficial effects on host metabolism, was observed firstly in the stomach of 12HFD group and then in the gut of 24HFD group, indicating the earlier alterations of microbiota in stomach than gut after HFD. We also found structural segregation of microbiota in the stomach as well as gut between 12HFD and 24HFD group, which is accompanied by the aggregation of metabolic disorders. These data suggest that HFD affects not only gut microbiota but also gastric microbiota and the disruption of microbial ecosystem in the digestive tract may play a part in the development and progression of metabolic diseases although molecular mechanism requires further investigation.

Unilateral ligation of the tendon of anterior superficial part of rat masseter muscle (TASM) leads to long-lasting allodynia. Sex differences in peripheral mu-opioid receptor (MOR)-mediated analgesia under persistent myogenic pain are not well understood. In this study, we examined (1) whether locally applied MOR agonists attenuate persistent pain following TASM ligation in a sex dependent manner, (2) whether there are sex differences of MOR expression changes in rat trigeminal ganglia (TG). The effects of MOR agonist, D-Ala2, N-Me-Phe4, Gly5-ol]-Enkephalin acetate salt (DAMGO), were assessed 14 days after TASM ligation in male, female and orchidectomized (GDX) male rats. MOR mRNA and protein levels in TG 14 days following tendon ligation were also determined. The mechanical thresholds of the injured side were significantly decreased in both male and female rats, from 3 days to 28 days after TASM ligation. A10 μg DAMGO significantly attenuated allodynia in male rats. A 10-fold higher dose of DAMGO was required in female and GDX male rats to produce the level of anti- allodynia achieved in male rats. The level of MOR mRNA in TG from male rats was significantly greater 14 days after TASM ligation compared with the sham-operated male rats, but not from female and GDX male rats. After TASM ligation, males had significantly more MOR immunoreactivity in TG compared to sham-operated males. The MOR levels increased to 181.8% of the sham level in male rats receiving tendon injury. But there was no significant change in female rats receiving tendon injury compared to the sham female rats. Taken together, our data suggest that there were sex differences in the effects of peripheral MOR agonists between male and female rats under TASM ligation developing long-lasting pain condition, which is partly mediated by sex differences in the changes of MOR expressions and testosterone is an important factor in the regulation of MOR.

Both an excess of toxic lead (Pb) and an essential iron disorder have been implicated in many diseases and public health problems. Iron metabolism genes, such as the hemochromatosis (HFE) gene, have been reported to be modifiers for lead absorption and storage. However, the HFE gene studies among the Asian population with occupationally high lead exposure are lacking.To explore the modifying effects of the HFE genotype (wild-type, H63D variant and C282Y variant) on the Pb load and iron metabolism among Asian Pb-workers with high occupational exposure.Seven hundred and seventy-one employees from a lead smelter manufacturing company were tested to determine their Pb intoxication parameters, iron metabolic indexes and identify the HFE genotype. Descriptive and multivariate analyses were conducted.Forty-five H63D variant carriers and no C282Y variant carrier were found among the 771 subjects. Compared with subjects with the wild-type genotype, H63D variant carriers had higher blood lead levels, even after controlling for factors such as age, sex, marriage, education, smoking and lead exposure levels. Multivariate analyses also showed that the H63D genotype modifies the associations between the blood lead levels and the body iron burden/transferrin.No C282Y variant was found in this Asian population. The H63D genotype modified the association between the lead and iron metabolism such that increased blood lead is associated with a higher body iron content or a lower transferrin in the H63D variant. It is indicated that H63D variant carriers may be a potentially highly vulnerable sub-population if they are exposed to high lead levels occupationally.

Background: Local high-frequency percussive (HFP) massage has recently found widespread application in physical therapy. Although HFP massage reportedly improves range of motion (ROM), the mechanism underlying its action has not yet been proven. This study aimed to clarify whether a 5-minute percussive massage regimen affects muscular or connective tissues, such as the deep fascia and deep intermuscular fascia and the change in joint ROM. Method: The study sample was calculated using G*Power analysis program, and this study enrolled 15 healthy men who underwent 5-minute HFP massage to the medial gastrocnemius muscle. Shear-wave elastography was used to measure tissue stiffness in the deep fascia, muscle, and deep intermuscular fascia through shear-wave velocity as well as the ROM of the volunteers' ankle joint dorsiflexion before and after the HFP massage. A value of P < .05 was used to declare statistical significance, and post hoc was used to calculate the effect size using G*Power. Results: Shear-wave velocity revealed a significant change in the deep fascia (P = .003; shear-wave velocity: -0.7 m/s) and significant increase in ROM of ankle dorsiflexion (P = .002; increase in ROM: 3.0°) after 5 minutes of HFP massage. However, the muscle and deep intermuscular fascia did not exhibit any significant changes. Conclusions: HFP massage for 5 minutes modified the stiffness of the deep fascia and concurrently improved the ankle joint-dorsiflexion ROM. This method can be used as an intervention to decrease stiffness of the deep fascia and increase the ROM efficiently. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aimed to assess the safety and toxicity of peony protein and provide a scientific basis for its application in food industry. The safety evaluation included acute oral toxicity tests in mice, as well as 28 d and 90 d oral toxicity tests in rats. The results demonstrated that no signs of poisoning or mortality were observed in the acute oral toxicity test (intragastric dose of 11700 mg/kg) conducted on mice. Furthermore, in the 28 d and 90 d oral toxicity tests conducted on rats, no abnormal changes were observed in terms of food utilization, organ weight ratios, and various physiological activities, when compared to the control group (1500, 3000, 6000 mg/kg). Additionally, there were no significant differences (P>0.05) in blood routine and blood biochemical indices between the treatment groups and the control group. Histopathological examination of organ tissues revealed intact morphology without any toxic lesions. These findings provided solid evidence that peony protein was non-toxic in the dose range of less than 11700 mg/kg and hold promising potential for application in the food industry.

Abstract Background Both tuberculosis (TB) and diabetes mellitus (DM) are major public health problems threatening global health. TB patients with DM have a higher bacterial burden and affect the absorption and metabolism for anti-TB drugs. Drug-resistant TB (DR-TB) with DM make control TB more difficult. Methods This study was completed in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis (PRISMA) guideline. We searched PubMed, Excerpta Medica Database (EMBASE), Web of Science, ScienceDirect and Cochrance Library for literature published in English until July 2022. Papers were limited to those reporting the association between DM and treatment outcomes among DR-TB and multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB) patients. The strength of association was presented as odds ratios (ORs) and their 95% confidence intervals (CIs) using the fixed-effects or random-effects models. This study was registered with PROSPERO, number CRD: 42,022,350,214. Results A total of twenty-five studies involving 16,905 DR-TB participants were included in the meta-analysis, of which 10,124 (59.89%) participants were MDR-TB patients, and 1,952 (11.54%) had DM history. In DR-TB patients, the pooled OR was 1.56 (95% CI: 1.24–1.96) for unsuccessful outcomes, 0.64 (95% CI: 0.44–0.94) for cured treatment outcomes, 0.63 (95% CI: 0.46–0.86) for completed treatment outcomes, and 1.28 (95% CI: 1.03–1.58) for treatment failure. Among MDR-TB patients, the pooled OR was 1.57 (95% CI: 1.20–2.04) for unsuccessful treatment outcomes, 0.55 (95% CI: 0.35–0.87) for cured treatment outcomes, 0.66 (95% CI: 0.46–0.93) for treatment completed treatment outcomes and 1.37 (95% CI: 1.08–1.75) for treatment failure. Conclusion DM is a risk factor for adverse outcomes of DR-TB or MDR-TB patients. Controlling hyperglycemia may contribute to the favorite prognosis of TB. Our findings support the importance for diagnosing DM in DR-TB /MDR-TB, and it is needed to control glucose and therapeutic monitoring during the treatment of DR-TB /MDR-TB patients.
