Abstract

In order to quantitatively analyze the roughness of the bench floor during open-pit mine blasting, this study proposes a real-time measuring method for the three-dimensional terrain of the bench floor during the excavation process. Real-time monitoring is conducted at the boundary and discrete internal points of the workbench floor during electric shovel operation, utilizing real-time kinematic global navigation satellite system (RTK-GNSS) positioning technology. An improved convex hull algorithm is introduced to automatically extract the optimal boundary of discrete point clouds based on their spatial distribution characteristics. This study establishes a digital elevation model (DEM) using five interpolation algorithms for 3D terrain visualization simulation. Through cross-validation, a comparative analysis of the DEM accuracy, the simulation results of the ordinary kriging interpolation algorithm were found to be optimized. The optimized interpolation algorithm is applied to simulate the 3D terrain in the Dexing open-pit copper mine, and the relevant terrain parameters were calculated. 21. Target Detection for Construction Machinery Based on Deep Learning and Multisource Data Fusion

Abstract

Target detection in use-case environments is a challenging task, which is influenced by complex and dynamic landscapes, illumination, and vibrations. Therefore, this article presents a research on road target detection based on deep learning by combining image data of vision with point cloud data from light detection and ranging (LiDAR). First, the depth map of the point cloud was densified for the sparse and disordered characteristics of the point cloud, with the ground removed to create an image dataset that could serve for training. Next, considering the computational capacity of the on-board processor and the accuracy, the MY3Net network is designed by integrating Mobilenet v2, a lightweight network, as the feature extractor, and you only look once (YOLO) v3, a high-precision network, as the multiscale target detector, to implement the detection of red green blue (RGB) images and the densified depth maps. Finally, a decision-level fusion model is proposed to integrate the detection results of RGB images and depth maps with dynamic weights. Experimental results show that the proposed approach offers high detection accuracy even under complex illumination conditions.

Abstract

The structural characteristics and steering behaviour of a six-track vehicle are described in this paper. Kinematic analysis for skid steering of a six-track vehicle under steady-state conditions on firm ground is conducted, with the relationship between thrust force and speed instantaneous centre of the track–terrain interface taken into consideration. A mechanical model for steady steering of a six-track vehicle is also presented based on the kinematic analysis. In this model, the steering inaccuracy and efficiency are defined to evaluate steering performance. The steering performance of a six-track vehicle is numerically simulated to analyse the effect of the structural parameters and deflection angles on tracks. A virtual prototype model is established based on the multi-body dynamics software RecurDyn for steering simulation and the findings coincide well with theoretical results. Abstract

A seven-degrees-of-freedom (DOF) dynamic model was established based on the Lagrange equation to analyse the lateral stability and instability mechanism of an articulated wheel loader. A scale wheel loader was designed and manufactured to validate the dynamic model in two conditions, namely turning on slopes and passing over obstacles. Experimental data and simulated data fitted well on the whole, so the developed dynamic model was proved to be useful and could serve as an important tool to analyse the stability of wheel loaders. At last, the lateral stability of one ZL50 wheel loader was analysed by using this dynamic model. The results showed that there is a phenomenon of sudden stability losing during the wheel loader cornering due to the relative rotation between the subframe and the rear axle.
