Abstract Background Sepsis-induced myocardial dysfunction (SIMD) may contribute to the poor prognosis of septic patients. Carvacrol (2-methyl-5-isopropyl phenol), a phenolic monoterpene compound extracted from various aromatic plants and fragrance essential oils, has multiple beneficial effects such as antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. These attributes make it potentially useful for treating many diseases. This study aims to investigate the effects of CAR on LPS-induced myocardial dysfunction and explore the underlying mechanism. Results H9c2 cells were stimulated with 10 µg/ml LPS for 12 h, and c57BL/6 mice were intraperitoneally injected with 10 mg/kg LPS to establish a septic-myocardial injury model. Our results showed that CAR could improve cardiac function, significantly reduce serum levels of inflammatory cytokines (including TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6), decrease oxidative stress, and inhibit cardiomyocyte apoptosis in LPS-injured mice. Additionally, CAR significantly downregulated the expression of TLR4, MyD88, and NF-κB in LPS-injured mice and H9c2 cells. It also inhibited the upregulation of inflammasome components (such as NLRP3, GSDMD, and IL-1β) in H9c2 cells triggered by LPS. Conclusion Taken together, CAR exhibited potential cardioprotective effects against sepsis, which may be mainly attributed to the TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB pathway and the NLRP3 inflammasome.

Abstract Image denoising is one of the fundamental problems in image processing. Convolutional neural network (CNN) based denoising approaches have achieved better performance than traditional methods, such as STROLLR and BM3D. However, CNNs can easily bring unexplainable artifacts to denoised images. In this article, a Deep Learning‐Informed Diffusion Equation (DLI‐DE) framework utilizing the image prior or the image gradient prior for image denoising is proposed. The image priors and gradient priors are learned from CNN models and used as coefficients in diffusion equations. The solution of DLI‐DE is infinitely smooth from the uniqueness of existence theorem, which guarantees that the denoised image is free of artifacts. Good properties of DLI‐DE also ensure high‐quality of denoising. The experimental analysis confirms that the denoising performance of DLI‐DE is comparable to that of contemporary CNN‐based denoising methods such as TNRD and DnCNN, while effectively preventing artifacts.

Abstract Conventional navigation systems (CNS) in surgery require strong spatial cognitive abilities and hand-eye coordination. Augmented Reality Navigation Systems (ARNS) provide 3D guidance and may overcome these challenges, but their accuracy and efficiency compared to CNS have not been systematically evaluated. In this randomized crossover study with 36 participants from different professional backgrounds (surgeons, students, engineers), drilling accuracy, time and perceived workload were evaluated using ARNS and CNS. For the first time, this study provides compelling evidence that ARNS and CNS have comparable accuracy in translational error. Differences in angle and depth error with ARNS were likely due to limited stereoscopic vision, hardware limitations, and design. Despite this, ARNS was preferred by most participants, including surgeons with prior navigation experience, and demonstrated a significantly better overall user experience. Depending on accuracy requirements, ARNS could serve as a viable alternative to CNS for guided drilling, with potential for future optimization.

ABSTRACT Background Strokes in young individuals often stem from unusual causes. Posterior circulation ischemic stroke caused by vertebral artery insufficiency due to atlantoaxial instability or dislocation is rare. We present a case of posterior circulation ischemic stroke due to an unstable os odontoideum and review the current literature. The clinical features and imaging manifestations are described to promote awareness of etiology, early diagnosis, and assessment. Case Presentation A 24‐year‐old male presented with recurrent right‐sided limb numbness and weakness and cerebellar ataxia due to posterior circulation ischemic stroke. The work‐up revealed thrombosis reformation in the tortuous left vertebral artery. It is noteworthy that the patient developed compression and chronic damage of the vertebral artery secondary to atlantoaxial instability and lateral dislocation due to an os odontoideum. He underwent antiplatelet and anticoagulant therapy, cervical traction, and posterior atlantoaxial screw fixation and fusion with iliac crest autograft. The postoperative course was uneventful. At 6‐month follow‐up, the patient had a solid fusion mass and rigid stability of the atlantoaxial joint without neurologic deficits or ischemic sequelae. Conclusions For unexplained posterior circulation ischemic stroke, it is important to consider unstable os odontoideum as a potential etiology, especially in pediatric and young adult male patients. Atlantoaxial instability and dislocation with os odontoideum, especially when occurring laterally, may cause insufficiency of the vertebral artery and subsequent posterior circulation ischemic strokes. The significance of lateral atlantoaxial dislocation in the genesis of vertebral artery injury and the necessity for specific positional imaging are emphasized.

Abstract Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients with macrovascular invasion (MVI) have dismal prognosis and there are no standard perioperative therapies. This phase 2 trial (ChiCTR2000036385) aimed to investigate the activity and safety of perioperative tislelizumab plus intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) for resectable HCC with MVI. Thirty treatment-naïve patients with MVI received 3 cycles of tislelizumab intravenously (200 mg, every three weeks) and concurrent IMRT (45 Gray in 15 fractions). Primary endpoints were the overall response rate (ORR) and overall survival (OS). Secondary endpoints were the proportion of patients with a complete or major pathological response (pCR or MPR), recurrence-free survival (RFS) and safety. Of patients enrolled, 15 (50%) underwent curative surgery followed by adjuvant tislelizumab. The ORR was 30.0% (90% CI 16.6%-46.5%) and the median OS was 18.7 months. Of the 15 patients underwent surgical resection, 10 (66.7%) achieved pCR or MPR and 8 (53.3%) remained recurrence-free. The median RFS were not reached with a median follow-up of 21.77 months (95% CI 12.50-31.03) post-surgery. 4 (13.3%) patients experienced grade 3 treatment-related adverse events. The most common events were thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, and anemia. The trial has met the pre-specified endpoints, and these results support further studies of perioperative immunotherapy plus radiotherapy in HCC.

Abstract As a critical component of a welded structure, the integrity of the welded joint significantly affects the safety and reliability of the structure in service. Therefore, it is essential to investigate the integrity of welded joints. However, given the harshness of standard measurements renders them unsuitable for application to small volume zones, welded structures or in-service structures. In this study, the fracture properties of a Q235 steel butt-welded joint was evaluated by boundary effect modelling (BEM) method and the ball indentation (BI) method. The results demonstrate that the fracture toughness distribution obtained by the two methods are consistent, with the highest fracture toughness in the weld metal, followed by the heat-affected zone and the base metal, and the lowest fracture toughness in the fusion zone, which is in agreement with the results of the metallographic testing. Furthermore, the relative errors of the zones obtained by the ball indentation method and the boundary effect modelling method ranging from 10.16 to 19.05%, which indicates safety margin ought to be considered for employing the BI method to determine fracture properties of in-service structures.

In this work, a new method of near-infrared curing 3D printing sodium silicate sands (NIRC3DPSSS) driven by photovoltaic cells was proposed, and the Span-80 moisture resistance modifier was studied. NIRC3DPSSS had the advantages of high strength, rapid curing and low residual strength. However, the 24h storage strength would reduce because Na+ in the bonding bridges could absorb moisture. The experimental results showed that the strength of Span-80 modified sands molds reached 0.95MPa after 4 hours in a humidistat with 99%RH (relative humidity) containing 2.2% sodium silicate, an increase of 97.9% comparing to common sands molds. In air(80%RH), the strength reached 1.25MPa, an increase of 40.4%. The optimal effect of modification was achieved when Span-80 was 0.066% of the raw sands. Additionally, the bonding film and bridges in sodium silicate sands modified with Span-80 were more stable, smoother and free of cracks when observed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS).

Abstract Purpose To investigate the application value of support vector machine (SVM) model based on diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) and amide proton transfer- weighted (APTW) imaging in predicting isocitrate dehydrogenase 1(IDH-1) mutation and Ki-67 expression in glioma. Methods The DWI, DCE and APTW images of 309 patients with glioma confirmed by pathology were retrospectively analyzed and divided into the IDH-1 group (IDH-1(+) group and IDH-1(-) group) and Ki-67 group (low expression group (Ki-67 ≤ 10%) and high expression group (Ki-67 > 10%)). All cases were divided into the training set, and validation set according to the ratio of 7:3. The training set was used to select features and establish machine learning models. The SVM model was established with the data after feature selection. Four single sequence models and one combined model were established in IDH-1 group and Ki-67 group. The receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curve was used to evaluate the diagnostic performance of the model. Validation set data was used for further validation. Results Both in the IDH-1 group and Ki-67 group, the combined model had better predictive efficiency than single sequence model, although the single sequence model had a better predictive efficiency. In the Ki-67 group, the combined model was built from six selected radiomics features, and the AUC were 0.965 and 0.931 in the training and validation sets, respectively. In the IDH-1 group, the combined model was built from four selected radiomics features, and the AUC were 0.997 and 0.967 in the training and validation sets, respectively. Conclusion The radiomics model established by DWI, DCE and APTW images could be used to detect IDH-1 mutation and Ki-67 expression in glioma patients before surgery. The prediction performance of the radiomics model based on the combination sequence was better than that of the single sequence model.

[Objective] To develop an efficient electrochemical method for the rapid detection of cadmium and lead ions （Cd2+ and Pb2+） in rice samples. [Methods] Designed a portable electrochemical sensor utilizing a disposable screen printed electrode and anodic stripping voltammetry with an isoplated bismuth electrode. This setup was further optimized through square wave voltammetry （SWV）, cyclic voltammetry （CV）, and chronocurrent methods （I-T）. [Results] The proposed approach exhibited outstanding performance with a linear detection range of 20 to 80 μg/L for Cd2+ and 10 to 80 μg/L for Pb2+. The LOD of the cadmium ion were 1.201 0 μg/L, the LOD of the lead ion were 0.963 9 μg/L. [Conclusion] Our newly established electrochemical sensor for heavy metal detection in rice offers high sensitivity, ease of operation, rapid analysis, and aligns with environmentally friendly practices.

Abstract Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) analogs are important therapeutics for type 2 diabetes and obesity. Ecnoglutide (XW003) is a novel, long-acting GLP-1 analog. We conducted a Phase 2, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study enrolling 145 adults with T2DM. Participants were randomized to 0.4, 0.8, or 1.2 mg ecnoglutide or placebo as once-weekly injections for 20 weeks. The primary objective was to evaluate the efficacy of ecnoglutide, as measured by HbA1c change from baseline at Week 20. Secondary endpoints included body weight, glucose and lipid parameters, as well as safety. We show that, at end of treatment, the 0.4, 0.8, and 1.2 mg groups had statistically significant HbA1c reductions from baseline of −1.81%, −1.90%, and −2.39%, respectively, compared to −0.55% for placebo (P

Abstract Little is known about biological processes controlling inorganic phosphate (PO4) in groundwater ecosystems. Here we present analyses of groundwater samples from the Hetao Basin, China that show an increasing contribution of microbial cycling to groundwater PO4 from oxic to anoxic conditions along a flow path with phosphate-bound oxygen isotopes (δ18OPO4). Under oxic conditions, although 25–47% of the dissolved PO4 inherited the initial source signal of igneous apatite, groundwater δ18OPO4 reflected a pronounced impact of intracellular enzymatic cycling. Under anoxic conditions, dissolved PO4 carried a nearly exclusive equilibrium isotope signal, which was probably due to (i) release of PO4 with an equilibrium δ18OPO4 from Fe(III) oxides, as a result of Fe(III) reduction in the presence of Fe(III)- and sulfate-reducing bacteria; and/or (ii) cumulative microbial cycling of dissolved PO4 with increasing groundwater residence time. Our study highlights that PO4 in groundwater is tightly microbially cycled under a wide range of redox conditions and microbial cycling contributes to the release of PO4 in groundwater.

Abstract Electrochemical reactions via carbocation intermediates remain fundamental transformations that build up molecular functionality and complexity in a sustainable manner. Enantioselective control of such processes is a great challenge in a highly ionic electrolyte solution. Here, we report an anodic generation of chiral α-imino carbocation intermediates by enamine catalysis. The chiral carbocation intermediates can be intercepted by a variety of nucleophiles such as alcohols, water and thiols with high stereoselectivity. The key SN1 step proceeds via a tertiary amine-mediated proton shuttle that facilitates facial selection in reacting with carbocation.

Abstract Background Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a common condition characterized by the reflux of stomach contents into the esophagus. Despite its widespread prevalence worldwide, the causal link between GERD and various cancer risks has not been fully established, and past medical research has often underestimated or overlooked this relationship. Methods This study performed Mendelian randomization (MR) to investigate the causal relationship between GERD and 19 different cancers. We leveraged data from 129,080 GERD patients and 473,524 controls, along with cancer-related data, obtained from the UK Biobank and various Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) consortia. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with GERD were used as instrumental variables, utilizing methods such as inverse variance weighting, weighted median, and MR-Egger to address potential pleiotropy and confounding factors. Results GERD was significantly associated with higher risks of nine types of cancer. Even after adjusting for all known risk factors—including smoking, alcohol consumption, major depression, and body mass index (BMI)—these associations remained significant, with higher risks for most cancers. For example, the adjusted risk for overall lung cancer was (OR, 1.23; 95% CI: 1.14–1.33), for lung adenocarcinoma was (OR, 1.18; 95% CI: 1.03–1.36), for lung squamous cell carcinoma was (OR, 1.35; 95% CI: 1.19–1.53), and for oral cavity and pharyngeal cancer was (OR, 1.73; 95% CI: 1.22–2.44). Especially noteworthy, the risk for esophageal cancer increased to (OR, 2.57; 95% CI: 1.23–5.37). Mediation analyses further highlighted GERD as a significant mediator in the relationships between BMI, smoking, major depression, and cancer risks. Conclusions This study identifies a significant causal relationship between GERD and increased cancer risk, highlighting its role in cancer development and underscoring the necessity of incorporating GERD management into cancer prevention strategies.

Borehole transient electromagnetic(BTEM)scanning detection method uses the advanced exploration boreholes in the roadway to scan and detect the hidden geological anomalies outside the borehole wall by rotating the transceiver coil inside the borehole. Because of the transceiver device is located in the borehole, it not only avoids the electromagnetic interference of the electrical equipment and metal in the roadway, but also improves the utilization rate of the borehole and reduces the drilling workload. However, the BTEM is affected by the whole space effect. In the scanning and detection process, the normal direction of the transceiver coil is used as the detection direction to receive the secondary field signal of the abnormal body, it is also susceptible to the superposition interference of signals in other directions. If the interference signals cannot be effectively suppressed, it will directly affect the positioning of the geological anomaly body around the borehole wall. Using the shielding method, the shielding cover is installed on the receiving coil, and the response signal in the detection direction where the coil normal line is consistent with the opening of the shielding cover is retained as much as possible, while the signals in other directions are shielded, so as to realize the directional detection of the radial direction of the borehole wall within a certain range. First of all, the influences of transceiver coils with different turns and sizes on transient electromagnetic response characteristics are discussed through physical simulation experiments, and the parameters of transceiver coils suitable for drilling are optimized. Subsequently, aiming at the electromagnetic wave to be shielded, different kinds of shielding materials are selected, and the shielding effect experiments of different materials on electromagnetic waves in different directions are carried out. By comparing the induced electromotive force of the detection direction and other directions, it is proved that the arc-shielding made of nickel foam can effectively suppress the response signal in non-detecting direction. The transient electromagnetic field response characteristics of different shapes, permeability and other physical parameters of the shield are compared and analyzed through experiments. Relationship between the opening angle size of the shield, the distance between the shield and the receiver coil and the directional shielding effect is discussed. The parameters of the directional shielding are optimized to enhance the shielding effect. Finally, the parameters optimized transceiver coil and directional shielding device are used to carry out the borehole transient electromagnetic method radial section scanning detection field experiment. The inverse method based on a mixed distribution chaotic quantum particle swarm optimization and a combined Levenberg-Marquarat and Occam algorithms is used for resistivity images. The research shows that the arc-shaped shielding cover installed on the receiving coil with foam nickel as the shielding material has a better directional shielding effect, which can effectively suppress the signal interference in the non-detection direction during the scanning detection process of BTEM and can retain the abnormal response signal in the detection direction. Therefore, the precise positioning of the hidden geological anomaly body around the borehole wall can be realized.

Abstract Extranodal marginal zone lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT lymphoma) are a group of diseases with marked heterogeneity, including clinical, immunohistochemical, and molecular heterogeneity. The disease remains unspecified in the genetic landscape with only a few sequencing studies to date; however, systematic studies of alimentary canal MALT lymphoma have not been reported. To better understand the genetics of this tumor, targeted sequencing in a group of 31 cases (including 2 esophageal, 2 colonic, 4 small intestinal, and 23 gastric cases) and two cases of lymph node hyperplasiawere performed. We found epigenetic regulation (DNMT3A, KMT2D, KMT2A, EP300, TET2, etc.), signaling pathways (APC, CHD8, TNFAIP3, TNFRSF14, ZAP70, NF1,), and tumor suppressor genes (TP53, BCORL1, FOXO1, ATM, etc.) involved. Moreover, we found MTOR gene mutations in 16% of the cases that made these patients more prone to recurrence and metastasis than those with MTOR wild type genes. More interestingly, ARID2 mutations were detected in 32% of all the cases, and the mutation rate was higher and statistically significant in Helicobacter pylori (Hp)-negative patients in the gastric group. Therefore, this study found that MTOR and ARID2 gene mutations have pathogenic and prognostic implications.

Abstract Background Metabolic dysregulation is recognized as a significant hallmark of cancer progression. Although numerous studies have linked specific metabolic pathways to cancer incidence, the causal relationship between blood metabolites and lung cancer risk remains unclear. Methods Genomic data from 29,266 lung cancer patients and 56,450 control individuals from the Transdisciplinary Research in Cancer of the Lung and the International Lung Cancer Consortium (TRICL-ILCCO) were utilized, and findings were replicated using additional data from the FinnGen consortium. The analysis focused on the associations between 486 blood metabolites and the susceptibility to overall lung cancer and its three major clinical subtypes. Various Mendelian randomization methods, including inverse-variance weighting, weighted median estimation, and MR-Egger regression, were employed to ensure the robustness of our findings. Results A total of 19 blood metabolites were identified with significant associations with lung cancer risk. Specifically, oleate (OR per SD = 2.56, 95% CI: 1.51 to 4.36), 1-arachidonoylglyceropholine (OR = 1.79, 95% CI: 1.22 to 2.65), and arachidonate (OR = 1.67, 95% CI: 1.16 to 2.40) were associated with a higher risk of lung cancer. Conversely, 1-linoleoylglycerophosphoethanolamine (OR = 0.57, 95% CI: 0.40 to 0.82), ADpSGEGDFXAEGGGVR, a fibrinogen cleavage peptide (OR = 0.60, 95% CI: 0.47 to 0.77), and isovalerylcarnitine (OR = 0.62, 95% CI: 0.49 to 0.78) were associated with a lower risk of lung cancer. Notably, isoleucine (OR = 9.64, 95% CI: 2.55 to 36.38) was associated with a significantly higher risk of lung squamous cell cancer, while acetyl phosphate (OR = 0.11, 95% CI: 0.01 to 0.89) was associated with a significantly lower risk of small cell lung cancer. Conclusion This study reveals the complex relationships between specific blood metabolites and lung cancer risk, highlighting their potential as biomarkers for lung cancer prevention, screening, and treatment. The findings not only deepen our understanding of the metabolic mechanisms of lung cancer but also provide new insights for future treatment strategies.

Abstract Aphids cause enormous financial losses to various crop plants on a global scale. Moreover, aphids are vectors for many plant viral diseases that can further hasten crop yield losses. Aphids secrete saliva during feeding that contains effectors that can regulate plants' defense responses and their underlying mechanisms. Although much research has been undertaken to determine the mechanisms contributing to plant-aphid interactions, our understanding of defense mechanisms against aphids is insufficient. The presence of piercing-sucking mouthparts in aphids makes the identification of aphid resistance more challenging, hindering our understanding of the mechanisms of plant resistance to aphids. In this article, we consolidate and assess the evidence that is currently available on plant-aphid interactions, address the gaps in our understanding, and propose new research directions. As an outcome, we present an in-depth review of the molecular mechanisms of aphid resistance in crops from five perspectives: physical protection against aphids using volatile compounds, PAMP-triggered immunity (PTI), effector-triggered immunity (ETI), plant hormone signaling and the inheritance of induced resistance through epigenetics.

Abstract The Span-based model can effectively capture the complex entity structure in the text, thus becoming the mainstream model for nested named entity recognition (Nested NER) tasks. However, traditional Span-based models decode each entity span independently. They do not consider the semantic connections between spans or the entities’ positional information, which limits their performance. To address these issues, we propose a Bi-Directional Context-Aware Network (Bi-DCAN) for the Nested NER. Specifically, we first design a new span-level semantic relation model. Then, the Bi-DCAN is implemented to capture this semantic relationship. Furthermore, we incorporate Rotary Position Embedding into the bi-affine mechanism to capture the relative positional information between the head and tail tokens, enabling the model to more accurately determine the position of each entity. Experimental results show that compared to the latest model Diffusion-NER, our model reduces 20M parameters and increases the F1 scores by 0.24 and 0.09 on the ACE2005 and GENIA datasets respectively, which proves that our model has an excellent ability to recognise nested entities.

Abstract Background Owing to its unique location and multifaceted metabolic functions, epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) is gradually emerging as a new metabolic target for coronary artery disease risk stratification. Microvascular obstruction (MVO) has been recognized as an independent risk factor for unfavorable prognosis in acute myocardial infarction patients. However, the concrete role of EAT in the pathogenesis of MVO formation in individuals with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) remains unclear. The objective of the study is to evaluate the correlation between EAT accumulation and MVO formation measured by cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) in STEMI patients and clarify the underlying mechanisms involved in this relationship. Methods Firstly, we utilized CMR technique to explore the association of EAT distribution and quantity with MVO formation in patients with STEMI. Then we utilized a mouse model with EAT depletion to explore how EAT affected MVO formation under the circumstances of myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. We further investigated the immunomodulatory effect of EAT on macrophages through co-culture experiments. Finally, we searched for new therapeutic strategies targeting EAT to prevent MVO formation. Results The increase of left atrioventricular EAT mass index was independently associated with MVO formation. We also found that increased circulating levels of DPP4 and high DPP4 activity seemed to be associated with EAT increase. EAT accumulation acted as a pro-inflammatory mediator boosting the transition of macrophages towards inflammatory phenotype in myocardial I/R injury through secreting inflammatory EVs. Furthermore, our study declared the potential therapeutic effects of GLP-1 receptor agonist and GLP-1/GLP-2 receptor dual agonist for MVO prevention were at least partially ascribed to its impact on EAT modulation. Conclusions Our work for the first time demonstrated that excessive accumulation of EAT promoted MVO formation by promoting the polarization state of cardiac macrophages towards an inflammatory phenotype. Furthermore, this study identified a very promising therapeutic strategy, GLP-1/GLP-2 receptor dual agonist, targeting EAT for MVO prevention following myocardial I/R injury.

A prominent strengthened Y2O3 stabilized t-ZrO2 (YSTZ)/MgO nanocomposite coating is achieved by the plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) process and in-situ synthesized YSTZ reinforced phase with a quantitative control approach. The idea of activating double slip systemic semi-coherent interface dislocations in YSTZ/MgO nanocomposite coating to realize crack self-healing is proposed. High dislocation densities are associated with {101} YSTZ slip and {111} MgO slip system to coordinate interfacial deformation to stop crack initiation and propagation. This crack propagation path can absorb more fracture energy, providing more opportunities for crack deflection and bridge, which closes crack and realizes crack self-healing.

ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of Crocin (CRO) on rats with hippocampal neuron cerebral ischemia reperfusion (CI/R) injury and explore its potential mechanism.MethodsA total of 144 male SD rats were selected and randomly divided into sham group, model (CI/R) group, CRO low-, medium-, high-dose (CRO-L, CRO-M, CRO-H) group and Nimodipine (NMP) group, with 24 rats in each group. The CI/R rat models were established by suture method. Rats in each group were administered by intrabitoneal injection (ip) once a day starting 7 days before modeling (the CRO-L, CRO-M, CRO-H groups were given 10, 20, 40 mg/kg CRO by ip respectively; the NMP group was given 1 mg/kg NMP by ip; and the sham group and CI/R group were given normal saline 5 mL/kg by ip). After 24 hours of reperfusion, the learning and memory ability of rats was detected by Morris water maze test. The cerebral infarction rate was detected using TTC staining. The neuron pathological changes of hippocampal CA1 and CA3 were observed using HE staining, and the neuronal apoptosis of hippocampal CA1 and CA3 was examined by TUNEL staining. The levels of interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-8, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in hippocampal tissue were detected by ELISA. The expression of Janus kinase 2/signal transduction and activator of transcription 3 (JAK2/STAT3) signaling pathway related proteins in hippocampal tissue were detected by Western blot.ResultsCompared with the sham group, the learning and memory ability of the rats in the CI/R group was significantly decreased, and the cerebral infarction rate was significantly increased (PPPPPPPPP

Abstract The proposed method for joint entity and relation extraction integrates the tasks of entity extraction and relation classification by sharing the encoding layer. However, the method faces challenges due to incongruities in the contextual information captured by these subtasks, resulting in potential feature conflicts and adverse effects on model performance. To address this, we introduced a novel joint entity and relation extraction method that incorporates multi-module feature information enhancement (MFIE) ( https://github.com/liyao345496280/Relation-extraction ). We employ a relation awareness enhancement module for the entity extraction task, which directs the model’s focus towards extracting entities closely related to potential relations using a potential relation extraction module and an attention mechanism. For the relation extraction task, we implement an entity information enhancement module that uses entity extraction results to augment the original feature information through a gating mechanism, thereby enhancing relation classification performance. Experiments on the NYT and WebNLG datasets demonstrate that our method performs well. Compared to the state-of-the-art method, the F1 score on the NYT dataset improved by 0.7%.

Glaciers have retreated and shrunk in High Mountain Asia since the mid-20th century because of global warming, leading to glacier instability and hazardous ice–snow avalanches. However, the complex relationship between ice–snow avalanches and factors such as climate and potential triggers are difficult to understand because of the lack of observational data. Here, we addressed ice–snow avalanches on the Annapurna II glacier in Nepal, Central Himalaya. We constructed an ice–snow avalanche history using long-term multi-source remote sensing images (1988–2021) and mapped the velocity fields of glaciers using cross-correlation analysis on SAR and optical images. Then, we investigated the impact of climate change and earthquakes on the frequency and size of ice–snow avalanches. The results demonstrate that the frequency of ice–snow avalanches has increased from 10 in 1988 to 27 in 2020, but the average area of ice–snow avalanche deposits has decreased by approximately 70%, from 3.4 × 105 m2 in 1988 to 1.2 × 105 m2 in 2020. The evolutionary characteristic of ice avalanches is linked to the impact of glacier retreat (reduction in ice material supply) and increased activity under climate change. The glacier movement velocity controls the size of ice–snow avalanches and can be set as an indicator for ice–snow avalanche warnings. On the Annapurna II glacier, an ice–snow avalanche occurred when the glacier velocities were greater than 1.5 m d−1. These results offer insights into ice–snow avalanche risk assessment and prediction in high-mountain areas, particularly in regions characterised by dense glacier distribution.

Objective·To study the clinical features of two primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) patients with neurological symptoms as initial manifestations and review the related literature.Methods·The clinical data, response to treatment as well as prognosis of 2 cases were analyzed and followed up.Results·Case 1, female, initially presented progressive gait instability and distal sensory impairment at the age of 50. Clinical manifestations included spastic gait, sensory ataxia, conduction fascicular sensory impairment, as well as urination and defecation dysfunction. At the age of 58, this patient was unable to walk independently. The laboratory findings revealed a positive result for anti-nuclear antibody with a titer of 1∶1 000, anti-Sjögren's syndrome A (SSA)/Ro-52, anti-SSA/Ro-60, and anti-centromere antibodies. Labial salivary gland biopsy showed lymphocytes and plasma cells infiltration into the glandular tissues, interstitium, and lobules, with 2 foci/4 mm2 (lymphocytes >50). The cranial magnetic resonance imaging exhibited bilateral symmetric hyperintensity in the brainstem, characterized by the "snake-eye sign". Electromyography examination revealed axonal impairment of the right peroneal nerve. The patient was treated with high-dose corticosteroid therapy in combination with immunosuppressants. She experienced remarkable improvement. After three months, she was able to walk with aids and take care of herself in daily life. Case 2, female, presented spasmodic torticollis since the age of 81 with unknown reason. She had a history of mild mucosal dryness of mouth and eyes, and painful knee for one year. Laboratory findings revealed positive results for anti-SSA/Ro-52 and anti-SSA/Ro-60 antibodies, as well as hemoglobin of 86 g/L. Labial salivary gland biopsy demonstrated partial atrophy of the acini and the presence of 2 foci/4 mm2 of lymphocytes and plasma cells infiltration into the stroma (lymphocytes>50). Electromyography examination showed reduced conduction velocity in the right median nerve. She got a significant relief after the treatment of immunosuppressants, antispasmodics, and muscle relaxants.Conclusion·Patients presenting initial symptoms such as complex forms of spastic paraplegia and cervical dystonia expand the clinical spectrum of pSS. In clinical practice, it is important to distinguish neurological involvement secondary to pSS from other primary neurological disorders. For patients with neurological impairments but without apparent etiology, it is crucial to screen relevant series of autoimmune antibodies.

Although hypervalent iodine(III) reagents have become staples in organic chemistry, the exploration of their isoelectronic counterparts, namely hypervalent bromine(III) and chlorine(III) reagents, has been relatively limited, partly due to challenges in synthesizing and stabilizing these compounds. In this study, we conduct a thorough examination of both homolytic and heterolytic bond dissociation energies (BDEs) critical for assessing the chemical stability and functional group transfer capability of cyclic hypervalent halogen compounds using density functional theory (DFT) analysis. A moderate linear correlation was observed between the homolytic BDEs across different halogen centers, while a strong linear correlation was noted among the heterolytic BDEs across these centers. Furthermore, we developed a predictive model for both homolytic and heterolytic BDEs of cyclic hypervalent halogen compounds using machine learning algorithms. The results of this study could aid in estimating the chemical stability and functional group transfer capabilities of hypervalent bromine(III) and chlorine(III) reagents, thereby facilitating their development.

Abstract Background There is an urgent need for therapeutic strategies for inpatients with severe or critical COVID-19. The evaluation of the clinical benefits of nirmatrelvir and ritonavir (Nmr/r) for these patients beyond five days of symptom onset is insufficient. Methods A new propensity score-matched cohort was constructed by using multicenter data from 6695 adult inpatients with COVID-19 from December 2022 to February 2023 in China after the epidemic control measures were lifted across the country. The severity of disease of the inpatients was based on the tenth trial edition of the Guidelines on the Diagnosis and Treatment of COVID-19 in China. The symptom onset of 1870 enrolled severe or critical inpatients was beyond five days, and they received either Nmr/r plus standard treatment or only standard care. The ratio of patients whose SOFA score improved more than 2 points, crucial respiratory endpoints, changes in inflammatory markers, safety on the seventh day following the initiation of Nmr/r treatment, and length of hospital stay were evaluated. Results In the Nmr/r group, on Day 7, the number of patients with an improvement in SOFA score ≥ 2 was much greater than that in the standard treatment group (P = 0.024) without a significant decrease in glomerular filtration rate (P = 0.815). Additionally, the rate of new intubation was lower (P = 0.004) and the no intubation days were higher (P = 0.003) in the first 7 days in the Nmr/r group. Other clinical benefits were limited. Conclusions Our study may provide new insight that inpatients with severe or critical COVID-19 beyond five days of symptom onset benefit from Nmr/r. Future studies, particularly randomized controlled trials, are necessary to verify the above findings.

Abstract Background Perineal massage, as a preventive intervention, has been shown to reduce the risk of perineal injuries and may have a positive impact on pelvic floor function in the early postpartum period. However, there is still debate concerning the best period to apply perineal massage, which is either antenatal or in the second stage of labor, as well as its safety and effectiveness. Meta-analysis was used to evaluate the effect of implementing perineal massage in antenatal versus the second stage of labor on the prevention of perineal injuries during labor and early postpartum pelvic floor function in primiparous women. Methods We searched nine different electronic databases from inception to April 16, 2024. The randomized controlled trials (RCTs) we included assessed the effects of antenatal and second-stage labor perineal massage in primiparous women. All data were analyzed with Revman 5.3, Stata Statistical Software, and Risk of Bias 2 was used to assess the risk of bias. Subgroup analyses were performed based on the different periods of perineal massage. The primary outcomes were the incidence of perineal integrity and perineal injury. Secondary outcomes were perineal pain, duration of the second stage of labor, postpartum hemorrhage, urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence, and flatus incontinence. Results This review comprised a total of 10 studies that covered 1057 primigravid women. The results of the analysis showed that perineal massage during the second stage of labor reduced the perineal pain of primigravid women in the immediate postpartum period compared to the antenatal period, with a statistical value of (MD = -2.29, 95% CI [-2.53, -2.05], P

Abstract Current induced spin–orbit torque (SOT) manipulation of magnetization is pivotal in spintronic devices. However, its application for perpendicular magnetic anisotropy magnets, crucial for high‐density storage and memory devices, remains nondeterministic and inefficient. Here, a highly efficient approach is demonstrated to generate collinear spin currents by artificial modulation of interfacial symmetry, achieving 100% current‐induced field‐free SOT switching in CoFeB multilayers with perpendicular magnetization on stepped Al2O3 substrates. This field‐free switching is primarily driven by the out‐of‐plane anti‐damping SOT generated by the planar spin Hall effect (PSHE), resulting from reduced interface symmetry due to orientation‐determined steps. Microscopic theoretical analysis confirms the presence and significance of PSHE in this process. Notably, this method for generating out‐of‐plane spin polarization along the collinear direction of the spin‐current with artificial modulation of interfacial symmetry, overcomes inherent material symmetry constraints. These findings provide a promising avenue for universal control of spin–orbit torque, addressing challenges associated with low crystal symmetry and highlighting its great potential to advance the development of energy‐efficient spintronic devices technology.

Diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain (DPNP) is a major complication of diabetes that markedly affects the quality of life and health status of patients. Recent studies have investigated the potential regulatory influence of gut flora and bile acids on DPNP via the TGR5/TRPV1 signaling pathway. Dysbiosis of the gut flora not only directly affects bile acid metabolism but also significantly correlates with diabetes-associated neuropathy through interactions with the bile acid receptor TGR5 and the ion channel TRPV1. This review describes how alterations in the gut flora and bile acid metabolism contribute to the pathogenesis of DPNP through the TGR5/TRPV1 signaling pathway, revealing potential applications for this pathway in DPNP management. Furthermore, experimental and clinical studies have demonstrated the modulation of gut flora and bile acid metabolism as well as targeting the TGR5/TRPV1 signaling pathway as an innovative therapeutic approach. Further studies are warranted to elucidate the underlying mechanism and develop treatment modalities based on gut flora regulation and signaling pathway interventions, thus providing novel insights and approaches for DPNP therapy.

Ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury is an inevitable pathological process in many clinical practices, such as transplantation, myocardial infarction, cerebral infarction and current treatments for I/R injury are limited. Ferroptosis is an essential pathogenic mechanism for triggering I/R injury, characterized by excess reactive oxygen species (ROS) accompanied by lipid peroxidation and increased intracellular iron concentration consistent with the mechanical manifestations of I/R. Resveratrol (RES) is a polyphenolic compound found in red wine that acts as an iron chelator, lipophilic antioxidant, and lipid peroxidation inhibitor. It helps to inhibit I/R damage by reversing ferroptosis-induced cell death, providing insights into developing therapeutic strategies for this devastating disease. In this review, we used the keywords “ferroptosis”, “resveratrol”, and “ischemia-reperfusion” in conjunction with each other, collected 1039 papers from the last decade, 114 relevant papers were screened to review the research progress on the mitigating of I/R injury through ferroptosis in Res and its future perspectives.

Knowledge about the impact craters on rocky planets is crucial for understanding the evolutionary history of the universe. Compared to traditional visual interpretation, deep learning approaches have improved the efficiency of crater detection. However, single-source data and divergent data quality limit the accuracy of crater detection. In this study, we focus on valuable features in multi-modal remote sensing data from Chang’e lunar exploration mission and propose an Attention-based Dual-branch Segmentation Network (ADSNet). First, we use ADSNet to extract the multi-modal features via a dual-branch encoder. Second, we introduce a novel attention for data fusion where the features from the auxiliary modality are weighted by a scoring function and then being fused with those from the primary modality. After fusion, the features are transferred to the decoder through skip connection. Lastly, high-accuracy crater detection is achieved based on the learned multi-modal data features through semantic segmentation. Our results demonstrate that ADSNet outperforms other baseline models in many metrics such as IoU and F1 score. ADSNet is an effective approach to leverage multi-modal remote sensing data in geomorphological feature detection on rocky planets in general.

IntroductionMedical postgraduates generally experience high levels of depression and anxiety. Previous studies have investigated the impact of various achievement motivations on depression/anxiety among medical students.MethodsThis study focused on self-esteem and perceived stress, examining the internal mechanisms through which achievement motivation affects depression/anxiety. 530 medical postgraduate students (66.04% female and 33.96% male) were administered the Achievement Goal Orientation Scale, Self-Esteem Scale, Perceived Stress Scale, and Depression-Anxiety-Stress Scale.ResultsResults indicated that: (1) mastery-approach goals were negatively correlated with depression/anxiety; mastery-avoidance goals were positively correlated with depression/anxiety; performance-avoidance goals positively predicted depression/anxiety; (2) self-esteem mediated the relationship between achievement motivation and depression/anxiety; (3) perceived stress played a mediating role in the relationship between achievement motivation and depression/anxiety; (4) self-esteem and perceived stress played a chain mediating role in the relationship between achievement motivation and depression/anxiety; (5) there was no significant linear correlation between mastery-approach goals and depression/anxiety.DiscussionAlthough this study employed a cross-sectional design and self-report scales, both of which have certain limitations, the findings still hold significant theoretical and practical implications. The research reveals a mediating pathway between achievement goals and mental health, offering new insights into mental health education for medical graduate students.

Chirality plays a crucial function in the regulation of normal physiological processes and is widespread in organisms. Chirality can be imparted to nanomaterials, whether they are natural or manmade, through the process of asymmetric assembly and/or grafting of molecular chiral groups or linkers. Chiral inorganic nanomaterials possess unique physical and chemical features that set them apart from regular nanomaterials. They also have the ability to interact with cells and tissues in a specific manner, making them useful in various biomedical applications, particularly in the treatment of tumors. Despite the growing amount of research on chiral inorganic nanomaterials in the tumor microenvironment (TME) and their promising potential applications, there is a lack of literature that comprehensively summarizes the intricate interactions between chiral inorganic nanomaterials and TME. In this review, we introduce the fundamental concept, classification, synthesis methods, and physicochemical features of chiral inorganic nanomaterials. Next, we briefly outline the components of TME, such as T cells, macrophages, dendritic cells, and weak acids, and then discuss the anti-tumor effects of several chiral inorganic nanoparticles targeting these components and their potential for possible application during cancer therapy. Finally, the present challenges faced by chiral inorganic nanomaterials in cancer treatment and their future areas of investigation are disclosed.

Objective Artificial intelligence (AI) could help medical practitioners in analyzing radiological images to determine the presence and site of bowel obstruction. This retrospective diagnostic study proposed a series of deep learning (DL) models for diagnosing bowel obstruction on abdominal radiograph. Methods A total of 2082 upright plain abdominal radiographs were retrospectively collected from four hospitals. The images were labeled as normal, small bowel obstruction and large bowel obstruction by three senior radiologists based on comprehensive examinations and interventions within 48 hours after admission. Gradient-weighted class activation mapping was used to visualize the inferential explanation. Results In the validation set, the Xception-backboned model achieved the highest accuracy (0.863), surpassing the VGG16 (0.847) and ResNet models (0.836). In the test set, the Xception model (accuracy: 0.807) outperformed other models and a junior radiologist (0.780) but not a senior radiologist (0.840). In the AI-aided diagnostic framework, the junior and senior radiologists made their judgements while aware of the Xception model predictions. Their accuracy significantly improved to 0.887 and 0.913, respectively. Conclusions We developed and validated DL-based computer vision models for diagnosing bowel obstruction on plain abdominal radiograph. DL-based computer-aided diagnostic systems could reduce medical practitioners’ workloads and improve diagnostic accuracy.

Abstract Post‐replicative DNA N6‐methyladenine (pr6mdA) can form via bona fide methylase‐catalyzed adenine methylation, playing a pivotal role in embryonic development and other biological processes. Surprisingly, pre‐methylated adenine can be erroneously incorporated into DNA as misincorporated N6‐methyladenine (i6mdA) via DNA polymerase‐mediated replication. Despite pr6mdA and i6mdA sharing identical chemical structures, their biological functions diverge significantly, presenting a substantial challenge in distinguishing between the two. Here, for the first‐time, it is exploited that the adenosine deaminase‐like (Adal) protein and a corresponding activity‐null mutant to construct an Adal lentivirus toolkit. With this newly designed toolkit, both pr6mdA and i6mdA can be identified and quantified simultaneously. The presence of 6mdA in the bone marrow cells of mice is shown, with its levels serving as indicators for growth with age, probably reflecting the cellular stress‐caused changes in RNA decay, nucleotide pool sanitation, and transcription. Collectively, a powerful toolkit to advance understanding of both pr6mdA and i6mdA is demonstrated.

The present study examined the effect of two dietary regimens with elevated salt concentrations (4% and 8% salt) on hemorheological functions of SD rats, and explored the underlying mechanisms mainly through microbiome-metabolome analysis. An 8% HSD substantially altered the hemorheological parameters, and compromised intestinal barrier integrity and reduced the short-chain fatty acid levels. The microbiome-metabolome analysis revealed that 49 genus-specific microorganisms and 156 metabolites showed a consistent trend after exposure to both 4% and 8% HSDs. Pathway analysis identified significant alterations in key metabolites within bile acid and arachidonic acid metabolism pathways. A two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis verified the link between high dietary salt intake and hemorheology. It also suggested that some key microbes and metabolites (such as Ruminococcaceae_UCG-005, Lachnospiraceae_NK4A136, Ruminiclostridium_6, and Ruminococcaceae_UCG-010, TXB-2, 11,12-diHETrE, glycochenodeoxycholate) may involve in abnormalities in blood rheology caused by high salt intake. Collectively, our findings underscored the adverse effects of high dietary salt on hemorheological functions and provide new insight into the underlying mechanism based on microbiome-metabolome analysis.

ObjectiveTo develop a machine learning-based nomogram for distinguishing between supratentorial extraventricular ependymoma (STEE) and supratentorial glioblastoma (GBM).MethodsWe conducted a retrospective analysis on MRI datasets obtained from 140 patients who were diagnosed with STEE (n=48) and GBM (n=92) from two institutions. Initially, we compared seven different machine learning algorithms to determine the most suitable signature (rad-score). Subsequently, univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to identify significant clinical predictors that can differentiate between STEE and GBM. Finally, we developed a nomogram by visualizing the rad-score and clinical features for clinical evaluation.ResultsThe TreeBagger (TB) outperformed the other six algorithms, yielding the best diagnostic efficacy in differentiating STEE from GBM, with area under the curve (AUC) values of 0.735 (95% CI: 0.625-0.845) and 0.796 (95% CI: 0.644-0.949) in the training set and test set. Furthermore, the nomogram incorporating both the rad-score and clinical variables demonstrated a robust predictive performance with an accuracy of 0.787 in the training set and 0.832 in the test set.ConclusionThe nomogram could serve as a valuable tool for non-invasively discriminating between STEE and GBM.

The influences of aging temperatures (160–200 °C) and 8% pre-rolling on the mechanical properties, and microstructures of the creep-aged AA2050 alloys were investigated. The results show that for the solid-solutioned alloys after the creep aging, the strength increased with an increase of aging temperatures. The ultimate tensile strength (UTS) and yield strength (YS) reached the highest value of 527 and 484 MPa at 200 °C, respectively, although the elongation (EL) reduced to 10.8%. At expense of σ phases, the temperature increase promoted the dislocation accumulation and the dense precipitation of θ′ and T1 phases, which increased the strength. It is noted that the strong oriented precipitation at 200 °C lost some strengthening effect. After the 8% pre-rolling, the strength of creep-aged alloys increased firstly and then decreased with the increase of temperature. The high strength (UTS = 574 MPa, YS = 535 MPa) at 180 °C was attributed to the dense precipitation of T1 phases under the action of diffusion kinetic and thermodynamic driving force. When the temperature reached 200 °C, the activated ledge mechanism significantly thickened T1 phases, thus decreasing the strength. The work revealed the critical roles of aging temperature and pre-rolling in tailoring precipitation behaviors and mechanical performance of Al–Li alloys, paving a way in designing creep-aged Al–Li alloys with the superb mechanical properties.

Abstract Key nodes are similar to important hubs in a network structure, which can directly determine the robustness and stability of the network. By effectively identifying and protecting these critical nodes, the robustness of the network can be improved, making it more resistant to external interference and attacks. There are various topology analysis methods for a given network, but key node identification methods often focus on either local attributes or global attributes. Designing an algorithm that combines both attributes can improve the accuracy of key node identification. In this paper, the constraint coefficient of a weakly connected network is calculated based on the Salton indicator, and a hierarchical tenacity global coefficient is obtained by an improved K-Shell decomposition method. Then, a hierarchical comprehensive key node identification algorithm is proposed which can comprehensively indicate the local and global attributes of the network nodes. Experimental results on real network datasets show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the other classic algorithms in terms of connectivity, average remaining edges, sensitivity and monotonicity.

Objective： To improve the adsorption of genistein by zirconium-based metal-organic frameworks （MOFs） with triangle aromatic ligands. Methods： Two MOFs （MOF-808 and PCN-777） containing different sizes of triangle aromatic ligands were synthesized by hydrothermal method for adsorption of genistein. The synthesis of MOFs was determined by a series of characterization methods, and the adsorption performance was compared with that of a linear binary carboxylic acid ligand-constructed MOF （UiO-66）, to evaluate the effects of pore characteristics, hydrophobicity changes, and other factors on the adsorption performance, and to explore the adsorption mechanism by XPS analysis. Results： Compared with linear ligand-constructed UiO-66, the pore sizes of triangular aromatic ligand-constructed MOFs （MOF-808, and PCN-777） increased from 0.65 nm to 1.81 nm and 3.55 nm, respectively, and the water contact angles increased from 47.91° to 110.68° and 128.23°, respectively. The adsorption capacity and adsorption efficiency of genistein in linear ligand-constructed UiO-66 was 40.08 mg/g and 39.98%, respectively, while the adsorption capacity and adsorption efficiency of genistein in MOFs constructed by triangular aromatic ligand （MOF-808, PCN-777） was increased to 61.80 mg/g, 81.75 mg/g and 61.63%, 81.52% respectively. Conclusion： Metal-organic frameworks （MOFs） can be used for the adsorption and enrichment of genistein. Compared with linear ligands, the introduction of triangular aromatic ligands with different sizes changes the pore size and hydrophobicity of MOFs, enhances the internal accessibility of MOFs, and provides more adsorption sites, which improves the adsorption effect of genistein. The adsorption mechanism of genistein in PCN-777 is based on the synergistic combination of metal-chelating interactions, π-π interactions, and hydrophobic interactions.

Abstract Enhanced oil recovery (EOR) by in situ formation of oil-in-water emulsion in heavy oil cold production technology has received growing interest from the petroleum industry. We present an experimental study of emulsification of model oils prepared by heavy oil and its functional group compositions dissolved into toluene brought into contact with a surfactant solution. The effects of functional group composition, emulsifier concentration, temperature, pH and stirring speed on the emulsification rate of heavy oil was investigated. A second-order kinetic model characterizing the temporal variation of conductivity during the emulsification has been established. The results show that acidic and amphoteric fractions exhibit higher interfacial activity, larger emulsification rate constant and faster emulsification rate. With the increase of emulsifier concentration, the emulsification rate constant increase to the maximum value at a concentration of 0.05 mol/L before decreasing. Temperature increase benefits the emulsification rate and the activation energy of the emulsification process is 40.28 kJ/mol. Higher pH and stirring speed indicate faster emulsification rate. The heterogeneity of emulsions limits the accuracy of dynamic characterization of the emulsification process and the determination method of emulsification rate has always been controversial. The conductivity method we proposed can effectively evaluates the emulsification kinetics. This paper provides theoretical guidance for an in-depth understanding of the mechanism and application of cold recovery technology for heavy oil.

Abstract Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease, and the role of HOXA transcript at the distal tip (HOTTIP) in its pathogenesis remains underexplored. This study investigates the mechanism by which HOTTIP influences apoptosis and the inflammatory response of fibroblast‐like synoviocytes (FLS). An RA mouse model was established, and clinical scores were analyzed. Pathological changes in synovial tissues, bone mineral density (BMD) of the paws, serum tartrate‐resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) activity, and TNF‐α and IL‐1β levels were assessed. FLS were transfected, and cell proliferation and apoptosis were examined. The RNA‐pull‐down assay determined HOTTIP's interaction with mixed‐lineage leukemia 1 (MLL1), while RNA immunoprecipitation assay measured HOTTIP expression pulled down by MLL1. The levels of MLL1 and toll‐like receptor 4 (TLR4) after MLL1 overexpression based on HOTTIP silencing were determined. Chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) was performed with H3K4me3 as an antibody, followed by the evaluation of TLR4 expression. HOTTIP expression was elevated in RA mouse synovial tissues. Inhibition of HOTTIP led to reduced clinical scores, inflammatory infiltration, synovial hyperplasia, TRAP activity, and TNF‐α and IL‐1β levels, along with increased BMD. In vitro Interference with HOTTIP suppressed RA‐FLS apoptosis and inflammation. HOTTIP upregulated TLR4 expression by recruiting MLL1 to facilitate TLR4 promoter methylation. MLL1 overexpression reversed HOTTIP silencing‐mediated repression of RA‐FLS apoptosis. Activation of H3K4 methylation counteracted HOTTIP knockout, ameliorating the inflammatory response. HOTTIP regulates TLR4 expression by recruiting MLL1, leading to TLR4 promoter methylation, thereby suppressing RA‐FLS proliferation and inducing cell apoptosis and inflammatory response in RA.

Objective: To establish a rapid method for moisture detection of high cellulose and lignin materials. Methods: The areca nut, a Chinese herbal medicine containing high cellulose and lignin, was selected. Use a near-infrared spectrometer to collect near-infrared diffuse reflectance spectra. Apply NIR Cal modeling software to preprocess the spectral data, select the optimal feature wavelengths, and use partial least squares (PLS) analysis to establish a quantitative model for areca nut moisture content. Results: A quantitative model for areca nut moisture content was acquired, with the coefficient of determination of 0.994 2, the root mean square of the calibration error (RMSEC) of 0.50, the coefficient of determination for the validation set of 0.986 7, the root mean square of the prediction error (RMSEP) of 0.68. Conclusion: This method is simple, fast, safe, practical, and accurate, suitable for the rapid determination of moisture content in materials containing high cellulose and lignin.

Abstract Introduction Stroke is one of the common diseases that pose a severe threat to human health, with immune cells playing a crucial role in its onset and recovery. However, the specific mechanisms and causal relationships of different immune cell groups in various clinical stroke subtypes are unclear. This study explored the causal relationship between immune cells and stroke and its subtypes using Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis. Methods Data from genome-wide association studies were analyzed using inverse-variance weighted (IVW), MR-Egger, and weighted median methods for MR analysis, along with heterogeneity tests, sensitivity analysis, and pleiotropy analysis. Results CD45RA+CD28−CD8+ T cell %T cell (OR 1.002, 95% CI 1.001–1.003; P FDR = 0.02), CD27 on CD24+CD27+ B cell (OR 1.127, 95% CI 1.061–1.198; P FDR = 0.04), CD27 on IgD−CD38dim B cell (OR 1.138, 95% CI 1.076–1.203; P FDR = 0.005), and CD27 on switched memory B cell (OR 1.144, 95% CI 1.076–1.216; P FDR = 0.01) were found to increase the risk of large artery stroke. Switched memory B cell %lymphocyte (OR 1.206, 95% CI 1.103–1.318; P FDR = 0.02) increased the risk of small vessel stroke. Reverse MR analysis did not reveal any reverse causal associations. Furthermore, by substituting the outcome data, a secondary MR analysis was conducted to validate the primary findings. Conclusion Our study reveals several causal links between immune phenotypes and stroke and its different subtypes, highlighting the complex interactions between the immune system and stroke. These findings provide new directions for further uncovering the biological basis of stroke and assist in advancing research on early interventions and treatment strategies.

The borehole transient electromagnetic method is used to detect the long-range water-bearing bodies around the borehole wall by using the advanced water exploration borehole in the heading roadway, which avoids the “one’s opinion in one hole” because the normal logging methods can only detect the rock layer of the borehole wall. At present, because of the whole space effect, the current borehole transient electromagnetic method cannot distinguish the orientation of abnormal bodies by the received single-component response, and it can approximate the orientation of abnormal bodies by multi-component response, but it is difficult to precisely locate and interpret the profiles by the visual and effective means such as imaging. Based on the theory of borehole transient electromagnetic method and azimuthal electromagnetic logging, this paper proposes a borehole transient electromagnetic positioning method with azimuthal coil scanning detection. The azimuth coil is used as the detection device to reduce the mutual inductance of the coil and enhance the detection effect of the borehole transient electromagnetic method. At the same time, by changing the rotation angle of the coil, the borehole wall is scanned by 360° to form a radial all-round detection of the borehole, aiming at a precise localization and profile interpretation of low-resistance abnormal bodies in the rock mass at the periphery of the borehole wall. Firstly, the authors derive an analytical expression for the mutual inductance of an azimuth coil, discuss the effect of azimuth angle on azimuth coil mutual inductance, and determine the optimum azimuth angle by numerical calculation. Secondly, a full-space 3D geological-geophysical model of the borehole with homogeneous medium and low-resistance abnormal bodies are established respectively and the numerical simulation of transient electromagnetic field is carried out. The multi-component response characteristics of the azimuthal coil scanning detection transient electromagnetic response are analyzed, and the law of transient electromagnetic response of azimuthal coil scanning detection is summarized, and the borehole transient electromagnetic positioning method with azimuthal coil scanning detection is determined. Namely, through the transient electromagnetic response characteristics of the axial and radial directions of the borehole, the position of the low-resistance abnormal bodies in the rock body at the periphery of the borehole wall is determined. Finally, by establishing the geological-geophysical model with two low-resistance bodies and using azimuth coils set to the best azimuth angle for numerical experiments, it is verified that the method can intuitively and effectively determine the orientation of low resistance abnormal bodies. The study shows that the azimuth coil scanning detection results of the borehole transient electromagnetic method can better reflect the transient electromagnetic field anomaly caused by the low-resistance abnormal bodies in the rock body at the periphery of the borehole wall, and the resolution of the full-space apparent resistivity imaging results is high. Based on the transient electromagnetic response characteristics of the axial and radial directions of the borehole, the borehole transient electromagnetic positioning method with azimuthal coil scanning detection has a high resolution and localization accuracy for the low-resistance abnormal bodies in the rock body at the periphery of the borehole wall. The research results provide a theoretical basis for the practical application of the borehole transient electromagnetic positioning method with azimuthal coil scanning detection.

Abstract Chinese media companies are facing opportunities and challenges brought about by digital transformation. Media economics takes the evaluation of the business results of media companies as the main research topic. However, overcoming the internal differences in the industry and comprehensively predicting the digital transformation of Chinese media companies from multiple dimensions has become an important issue to be understood. Based on the “TOE-I” theoretical framework, this study innovatively uses machine learning methods to predict the digital transformation of Chinese media companies and to analyze specific modes of the main driving factors affecting the digital transformation, using data from China’s A-share-listed media companies from 2010 to 2020. The study found that environmental drivers can most effectively and accurately predict the digital transformation of Chinese media companies. Therefore, under sustained and stable economic and financial policies, guiding inter-industry competition and providing balanced digital infrastructure conditions are keys to bridging internal barriers in the media industry and promoting digital transformation. In the process of transformation from traditional content to digital production, media companies should focus on policy changes, economic benefits, the decision-making role of core managers, and the training and preservation of digital technology talent.

Abstract The magnetic type-II Weyl semimetal (MWSM) Co3Sn2S2 has recently been found to host a variety of remarkable phenomena including surface Fermi-arcs, giant anomalous Hall effect, and negative flat band magnetism. However, the dynamic magnetic properties remain relatively unexplored. Here, we investigate the ultrafast spin dynamics of Co3Sn2S2 crystal using time-resolved magneto-optical Kerr effect and reflectivity spectroscopies. We observe a transient magnetization behavior, consisting of spin-flipping dominated fast demagnetization, slow demagnetization due to overall half-metallic electronic structures, and an unexpected ultrafast magnetization enhancement lasting hundreds of picoseconds upon femtosecond laser excitation. By combining temperature-, pump fluence-, and pump polarization-dependent measurements, we unambiguously demonstrate the correlation between the ultrafast magnetization enhancement and the Weyl nodes. Our theoretical modelling suggests that the excited electrons are spin-polarized when relaxing, leading to the enhanced spin-up density of states near the Fermi level and the consequently unusual magnetization enhancement. Our results reveal the unique role of the Weyl properties of Co3Sn2S2 in femtosecond laser-induced spin dynamics.

In this study, a thin-wall build of CrMnFeCoNi high entropy alloy (HEA) was fabricated by laser directed energy deposition (LDED) process. The effect of high-temperature annealing heat treatment at 1000 °C on the microstructure and mechanical properties of LDEDed CrMnFeCoNi HEA was investigated. The results showed that the as-deposited microstructure of CrMnFeCoNi HEA features long-strip and coarse columnar grains with plenty of tiny pores and exhibits a homogeneous elements distribution. The microstructure shows good stability when the annealing time is within 4 h. With the further increase of annealing time, recrystallized equiaxed grains with interior twins form at the original coarse columnar grain boundaries. The dislocations distinctly pile up around recrystallized equiaxed grains accompanied by interior twins and show a cluster distribution. Precipitates including Cr-rich σ phases and Cr2MnO4 oxides form and distribute uniformly in annealed microstructure. Twin boundaries across these precipitates are distorted and correspondingly form a local high-interface-energy region around these precipitates where is prone to crack. In this study, the recommended annealing time is within 4 h to avoid the crack formation and associated dramatical degeneration of tensile properties. Our results are of great importance in understanding the microstructure evolution, as well as the effect of high-temperature annealing heat treatment, in the laser directed energy deposition of CrMnFeCoNi HEA.
