This paper demonstrates the application of the Selective Harmonic Elimination Pulse Width Modulation control of a single-phase H-bridge inverter. Its primary purpose is to reduce the harmonic content of the output waveform to ensure power quality. The N-R technique was applied to find the roots "firing angles" of the control circuit of the H-bridge inverter by using a set of nonlinear algebraic equations obtained by analysis of the Fourier series of the voltage waveform to eliminate certain harmonic orders. Different cases were analyzed using this technique to selectively eliminate the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, and 11th harmonics. It was also demonstrated that the suggested method's efficacy is confirmed by the obtained results using MATLAB/Simulink programming, and almost perfect harmonic elimination is verified, so filters of smaller size can be used, which means lower cost filters. This research evaluates the use of metaheuristic optimization techniques such as the Ant Lion Optimizer (ALO), Bat Algorithm (BAT), and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) for economic dispatch solutions. Using a 26-bus IEEE standard system as a benchmark, the effectiveness of these methods is assessed in a dynamic economic context. All methods were modeled in MATLAB. Applying two distinct case studies to the 26-bus system, the results reveal that ALO provides an optimal balance between fuel costs (FC) and transmission line losses. In contrast, the PSO method was the least effective, exhibiting both longer processing time and higher fuel costs. Notably, the ALO and BAT techniques demonstrated superior performance regarding transmission line losses as opposed to the traditional PSO. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Nowadays, BLDC motors have become important motors for their many applications. Some of these applications require precise position and speed control, such as paper and textile mills, robots and CNC machines, etc. These and other applications require an accurate tracking trajectory of the movement. In this paper, design a cascade P-PI controller to control the position of the BLDC motor. This cascade controller consists of three controllers, one for current control, one for speed control, and the last for position control. In addition, the DC-link current can be used in block current control. Parameter values of these three controllers are calculated and extracted using the two new methods which are: SSO and GWO. The simulation result proves the power of the cascade P-PI controllers to reject disturbances, in addition, the results showed SSO Algorithm is better than the GWO algorithm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

As the demand for electricity increases, losses occur on the electric distribution system lines, which pose a significant challenge for electric distribution companies. These losses refer to the amount of electricity that is injected into the distribution grids but not paid for by users. In recent years, the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) has gained popularity in the electrical power field due to its ability to improve the stability and flexibility of power systems. However, it is not cost-effective to install a BESS on every bus because of its high cost. This article uses the Dragonfly Algorithm (DA) to optimize the placement of BESS and minimize power loss in the power system. The research considered two cases involving 33 and 85 buses, respectively. Both cases led to a significant reduction in power system losses. In case one, the total loss dropped from 0.211 MW to 0.1111 MW, leading to a 47.33% decrease in system loss, while in case two, the total loss reduced from 0.2993 MW to 0.1673 MW, resulting in a 44.1% reduction in system loss. Three contributions are presented in this paper. Designing two cascade controllers to control the position of two brushless DC motors (BLDC) working together at the same time is the first contribution. The second is using a sliding mode speed synchronization controller to connect these motors and fine-tune the precise synchronization of their movement on the axes. In the third contribution, the best parameter values for the two cascade controllers and the synchronization controller are extracted using the salp swarm algorithm (SSA) and the objective function Integral Time Absolute Error (ITAE) to produce the most accurate results. the results were compared by using this algorithm with manual tuning. The results of the simulation revealed that the tuning that was done by the salp swarm algorithm (SSA) was superior to the manual tuning in terms of performance and overshoot as well as any deviation in tracking the path to reach the intended position. note that the drop in velocity (0.11 rad/sec) at a time of 15 seconds because of the load causes deviations (0.343 rad for BLDC 1 and 0.3496 rad for BLDC 2) For manual tuning. while the drop in velocity is very small (0.0037 rad/sec) at the same time causes deviations very small (0.003 rad for BLDC 1 and 0.0052 rad for BLDC 2) for second tuning. Because The BLDC motor is a non-linear, multi-variable system., a more complex explanation and control settings are necessary, in industry cascade control of brushless DC motors by proportional plus integral (PI) controllers was widely employed. However, tuning these controllers takes time, is difficult, and often results in poor performance, particularly with nonlinear systems. This paper presents a PSO algorithm for optimizing (PI) controller parameters that are based on an artificial intelligence approach. The results of the classical (PI) controller were compared to the PSO automatic tuning -PI utilizing MATLAB Simulink. The proposed method was more effective in terms of improved step response characteristics and lower Maximum Overshoot (the percentage when applying the PSO technique is 0.505 percent), Steady-State Error, Rising time, and Settling time. The induction machine is the workhorse of the industry. It has a rugged build and is appropriate for a wide range of high-power applications. It has been an essential element of all industries, different techniques are implemented to control the speed. And hence, we discuss the speed control of a three-phase induction motor using the V/F approach. The machine is operated by a three-phase inverter and the motor is controlled by a three-phase inverter. Pulse width modulation is preferred because of the low harmonic content obtained in the output voltage and current SPWM and SVPWM are the techniques used to control the inverter voltage this technique is developed in MATLAB/Simulink for open loop and close loop by selecting the Ode23s solver. This paper aims to a comparison analysis for Volt/Hertz-based induction motor speed control. both PWM types are checked under the same condition. This paper shows that the control technique in the SPWM application performs poorly, unlike the SVPWM technique so the SVPWM has a lower settling time and is more efficient than SPWM. The standalone system based on photovoltaic (PV) relies on a DC-DC converter to increase the efficiency and deliver the power to the load at a constant voltage. DC-DC converters are available in various topologies, with the Luo converters being one of the most efficient power conversions. Increased voltage in the geometric progression is achieved using the Luo converter with Super-Lift, which increases power efficiency. This paper presented a Positive Output Super-Lift Luo converter (PSLC) and integrated it with a three-phase inverter to feed AC load. The PSLC is coupled with a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) Controller to extract the highest amount of energy possible from the PV panels under non-uniform conditions. The performance of the PSLC is tested based on the conventional Perturb and Observe (P&O) technique and incremental conductance (IC) algorithm. The simulation results show the effectiveness of PSLC for standalone applications based on IC algorithm as compared with P&O algorithm in terms of fast-tracking to the desired power, no oscillation, and tiny ripple.
