Objective: To conduct a systematic examination and meta-analysis of the most reliable data from experimental studies evaluating the efficacy of autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) on low ovarian reserve. Methods: A comprehensive search was performed utilizing pertinent search terms across electronic databases, including PubMed, Cochrane, and Google Scholar. We included studies that assigned infertile women with low ovarian reserve in experimental studies. Ovarian reserve parameters were measured before and after PRP injection into ovaries. The data of each study was retrieved and subsequently compiled. Results: Of 301 articles collected and reviewed, six studies were finally included in the meta-analysis. Following PRP injection, infertile women showed a non-significant increase in anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) level (MD=0.10; 95% CI -0.04, 0.23), a significant increase in antral follicular count (AFC) (MD=1.88; 95% CI 0.47, 3.29), and a non-significant reduction in follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) level (MD=-0.22; 95% CI -8.32, 7.87). Conclusions: Autologous PRP may increase AFC, but not AMH. Although it is found beneficial in enhancing ovarian reserve (AFC), further research with strong evidence is still required.

A study was conducted to investigate how the addition of WO3 affects the mechanical, optical, and photon attenuation properties of TeO2–Na2O glass systems. In this study, four glass systems categorized as W5, W10, W15, and W20 were studied to evaluate the impact of WO3 on TeO2–Na2O glass systems in view of the feature of mechanical, optical, and photon attenuation. The rising values of elastic moduli suggest that increasing WO3 on TeO2–Na2O glass systems makes the glassy structure more stable. Incorporating WO3 into TeO2–Na2O glass systems results in an increased energy band gap, rising from 2.83 to 2.95 eV. This phenomenon, in turn, leads to a decrease in the refractive index, dielectric constant, and optical dielectric constant values from 2.444 to 2.411, 5.975 to 5.811, and 4.975 to 4.811, respectively. While the linear attenuation coefficient (LAC) of the examined glass systems (W5, W10, W15, and W20) displayed a comparable pattern, the LAC value of glass sample W20 stood out as the highest among them. However, due to the addition of WO3 on the TeO2–Na2O glass system, at a lower energy region from 0.0284 to 0.06 MeV, there was a little variation among the mass attenuation coefficients of these glass systems studied herein, but a negligible variation was found from 0.662 to 2.51 MeV. The studied glass sample W20 with the highest amount of WO3 (20 mol%) on the TeO2–Na2O glass system displayed the lowest half-value layer. However, glass samples W5, W10, and W15 exposed 1.29, 1.07, and 1.03 times higher values of mean free path than W20. In addition, the values of the half-value layer were compared with the literature data of WO3–MoO3–TeO2, BaO–Li2O–B2O3, and CaF2–BaO–P2O5 glass systems. Studied glass sample W20 showed the maximum shielding performance from energy 0.284 to 2.51 MeV.

Background and Aims: Autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) as a novel therapeutic approach has been utilized in multiple aspects of medicine because it contains stem cells and growth factors. There is still controversy over the effectiveness of this strategy in managing infertile women with low ovarian reserve due to the lack of evidence-based studies. This study aimed to systematically investigate and meta-analyze the best available evidence from clinical trials evaluating the impact of autologous platelet-rich plasma on low ovarian reserve. Methods: Systematic searches in electronic databases including PubMed, Cochrane, and Google Scholar use relevant search terms. We included infertile women with low ovarian reserve in single-arm clinical trials. Ovarian reserve parameters were measured before and after PRP injection into the ovaries. Data were extracted from each eligible study, then pooled (meta-analysis). The risk of bias (RoB) was evaluated using RoB 2 assessment tools. Results: Three hundred and one articles were collected and excluded, leaving six eligible studies, then classified into two subgroups: poor ovarian response (POR) and primary ovarian insufficiency (POI). Following PRP injection, infertile women showed an improvement in ovarian reserve. There was a significant increase in anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) level (MD = 0.12, 95% CI [0.005; 0.23], I2=99%, subgroup differences p=0.33), a significant increase in antral follicle count (AFC) (MD = 1.88, 95% CI [0.86; 2.89], I2=93%, subgroup differences p=0.67), with a non-significant reduction in follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) level (MD = 0.32, 95% CI [0.18; 0.46], I2=94%, subgroup differences p=0.02). According to the RoB’s assessment, the original research studies’ overall quality was a low risk of bias. Conclusions: Autologous platelet-rich plasma may increase AMH and AFC, but not FSH. Although it was discovered beneficial in enhancing ovarian reserve and effective for ovarian rejuvenation, further research with a large number of samples and strong evidence is still required.

We describe a cysteine-rich, membrane-penetrating, joint-targeting, and remarkably stable peptide, EgK5, that modulates voltage-gated KV1.3 potassium channels in T lymphocytes by a distinctive mechanism. EgK5 enters plasma membranes and binds to KV1.3, causing current run-down by a phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate-dependent mechanism. EgK5 exhibits selectivity for KV1.3 over other channels, receptors, transporters, and enzymes. EgK5 suppresses antigen-triggered proliferation of effector memory T cells, a subset enriched among pathogenic autoreactive T cells in autoimmune disease. PET-CT imaging with 18F-labeled EgK5 shows accumulation of the peptide in large and small joints of rodents. In keeping with its arthrotropism, EgK5 treats disease in a rat model of rheumatoid arthritis. It was also effective in treating disease in a rat model of atopic dermatitis. No signs of toxicity are observed at 10-100 times the in vivo dose. EgK5 shows promise for clinical development as a therapeutic for autoimmune diseases.

Background: Epidemiological and nutritional modifications are causing an increase in stunting in many low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMIC), which will eventually result in juvenile diseases and mortality. Therefore, this study aimed to identify the influential factors contributing to stunting among under‐five children in Cambodia. Methods: A secondary dataset consisting of 3268 under‐five children was extracted from the latest Cambodian Demographic and Health Survey (CDHS)‐2021/2022 dataset. The Chi‐square test and Boruta algorithm were used for covariate selection, and logistic regression approaches were used to determine the influence of demographic, socioeconomic and other factors on the presence of stunting. Results: Findings revealed that about 21% of under‐five children were stunted, and the prevalence of stunting was higher in rural areas than in urban areas. The prevalence of child stunting was lower in families with highly educated parents. A child whose father had a secondary education had 0.71 times lower (adjusted odds ratio [AOR]: 0.71, 95% CI: 0.520–0.969) chance of stunting than a child whose father had no education. Findings revealed that Ratnak Kiri, Mondul Kiri, Stung Treng, Pursat and Kampot had a greater prevalence of stunting than other places, ranging from 27.11% to 35.70%, whereas Banteay Meanchey, Phnom Penh and Kandal had the lowest rates, ranging from 12.80% to 16.00%. Results of the Boruta algorithm and logistic regression suggested that under‐five stunting is significantly influenced by factors such as the child's age, size at birth, mother's age at first birth, mother's body mass index (BMI), father's educational status, cooking fuel, and wealth index. Conclusions: It is necessary to take initiatives for reducing the prevalence of stunted children prioritising the identified factors that ultimately help to reduce the burden of child health. The authors believed that the findings of this study will be helpful for policymakers in designing the appropriate policies and actions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by reducing stunting among under‐five children in Cambodia.
