Objectives This study aims to evaluate changes in irrigation fluid temperatures during laser activation by using thermography, with comparison between Moses mode (MM) and virtual basket mode (VBM). Materials and Methods Experiments were performed using an unroofed pyelocaliceal model. The laser was fired for 60 s at 0.4J/60Hz. Three runs were tested per setting using short pulse mode (SPM), long pulse mode (LPM), MM contact, and VBM. The time to reach threshold of thermal injury (43°C) was evaluated using thermometer and thermography both with and without saline irrigation (25 mL/min). These outcomes were compared between laser pulse modes. Results In measurement of time to reach the threshold, thermography-based time was significantly shorter than thermometer-based time in all laser modes under the condition of no irrigation. Thermography measurement results indicate that the speed of temperature rise depends on laser pulse modes, and the time to reach the threshold in MM was significantly shorter than that in VBM (9.0 s vs 14.3 s, P=0.03). When 25 mL/min saline irrigation was used, the peak temperatures by both thermometer and thermography measurements did not exceed the threshold during laser activation. Conclusions Thermography-based evaluation suggests that irrigation temperatures near mucosa around stones can rapidly elevate during laser lithotripsy when the irrigation condition is poor. Temperature rise speed in MM may be more rapid than that in VBM. To prevent thermal injury, laser pulse modes must be used selectively according to the condition of irrigation.

Among early stage prostate cancer patients, intraductal carcinoma of the prostate (IDC-P) and invasive cribriform are key prognostic factors; however, their presence and clinical significance following active surveillance (AS) are unknown. In men who opted for AS, we aimed to examine the presence and impact of IDC-P or cribriform, utilizing radical prostatectomy (RP) specimens.We re-reviewed 137 RP specimens available in the PRIAS-JAPAN prospective cohort between January 2010 and September 2020. We assessed the presence of IDC-P or cribriform, and compared the patients' characteristics and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) recurrence-free survival after RP between groups with and without IDC-P or cribriform. In addition, we examined the predictive factors associated with IDC-P or cribriform.The percentage of patients with IDC-P or cribriform presence was 34.3% (47 patients). IDC-P or cribriform pattern was more abundant in the higher Gleason grade group in RP specimens (P 0.001). The rates of PSA recurrence-free survival were significantly lower in the IDC-P or cribriform groups than in those without them (log rank P = 0.0211). There was no association between IDC-P or cribriform on RP with the Prostate Imaging-Reporting and Data System (PI-RADS) 4,5 score on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) before RP even with adjustments for other covariates (OR, 1.43; 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.511-3.980, P = 0.497).IDC-P or cribriform comprised approximately one-third of all RP specimens in men who underwent RP following AS, confirming their prognostic significance.

This study aimed to evaluate stone retropulsion in various laser pulse modes in both Moses mode (MM) and virtual basket mode (VBM). Experiments were performed using a channel-shaped rubber rail and artificial stones. We compared short pulse mode and long pulse mode in both MM and VBM with the laser tip positioned so that it was touching and at 1 and 2 mm distances from the stone surface. Stone retropulsion was measured after the laser fired for 10 s in three different laser settings: 0.5 J/8 Hz, 0.8 J/8 Hz and 1.0 J/8 Hz. When the laser tip was touching the artificial stone, stone retropulsion in MM was significantly shorter than that in VBM in all laser settings (P 0.01, P = 0.02 and P = 0.02, respectively). At 1-mm distance, stone retropulsion in MM was significantly shorter than that in VBM in 0.8 J/8 Hz and 1.0 J/8 Hz settings (P 0.01 and P = 0.01, respectively). At 2-mm distance, however, there were no differences between MM and VBM in stone retropulsion in any laser settings. Stone retropulsion was not significantly different between the laser settings at 1-mm distance in MM, or when touching in VBM. In conclusion, stone retropulsion distance in MM can be shorter than that in VBM. Stone retropulsion in MM and VBM may be differently influenced by laser settings and laser tip position.

The differences in dynamic thermal changes during laser lithotripsy between various laser pulse modes are unclear. We used thermography to evaluate the temporal changes in high-temperature areas during laser activation in order to compare different laser pulse modes. An unroofed artificial kidney model was used for the experiments. The laser fired for 60 s with a laser setting of 0.4 J/60 Hz in the following four different laser pulse modes without saline irrigation: short pulse mode (SPM), long pulse mode (LPM), virtual basket mode (VBM) and Moses mode (MM). Using the first 30 s of moving images, we compared the ratio of a high-temperature area of >43 °C to the total area every 5 seconds. The dynamic changes in fluid temperatures were shown to be different between the laser pulse modes. The extent of the high-temperature areas during the laser activation was large in the LPM and MM compared with the SPM and VBM. While the high-temperature areas expanded in an anterior direction in the early laser irradiation period using the LPM, they spread in a posterior direction in the early laser activation period using the MM. Although only the temperature profile in one specific plane was investigated, these results are considered useful for preventing thermal injuries during retrograde intrarenal surgeries.

Although several biomarkers have been identified to predict prognosis in renal cell carcinoma (RCC), there are no evidence-based biomarkers to predict the response to immune checkpoint inhibitors. In this study, we focused on lymphocytes and tumor cells in the tumor microenvironment and investigated whether immunostaining scoring could predict the best overall response. We evaluated 32 patients with metastatic RCC (mRCC) who were treated with nivolumab monotherapy between August 2016 and July 2020. We performed immunostaining for CD8 T cells, TIA-1, PD-L1, and HLA class 1 in RCC tissues and assigned a score with a maximum of 4 points each, which we defined as histological score. The best overall response of nivolumab was observed in 4 patients (12.5%) with complete response (CR), 10 patients (31.3%) with partial response (PR), 5 patients (15.6%) with stable disease (SD), and 13 patients (40.6%) with progressive disease (PD). There was no significant difference in patient background between the CR＋PR＋SD group (19 patients) and the PD group (13 patients), but CD8 T cells were significantly higher and TIA-1 positive cells tended to be higher in the CR＋PR＋SD group (CD8 T cell : p＝0.03, TIA-1 : p＝0.07, PD-L1 : p＝0.67, HLA class 1 : p＝1.00). In univariate analysis, histological score ≥3 tended to contribute to the best overall response of nivolumab (p＝0.05). There was no significant difference in overall survival or cancer-specific survival after nivolumab administration between the two groups of patients with histological score ≥3 and those with histological score ＜3. In conclusion, immunostaining scoring based on CD8 T cells may be able to predict the efficacy of single-agent nivolumab in patients with mRCC.

Introduction Disseminated carcinomatosis of the bone marrow caused by prostate cancer is a rare condition with poor prognosis. Diagnosis has mostly been by primary prostate biopsy. Case presentation A 60-year-old man had malaise, low platelet count (9000/μL), and high prostate-specific antigen (1382 ng/mL). Bone marrow biopsy showed strongly positive immunostaining NKX3.1, leading to diagnosis of prostate cancer bone marrow metastasis, cT3aN1M1b. Definitive diagnosis by prostate biopsy was difficult because of the sparsity of atypical glands. He had progression to castration-resistant prostate cancer after 3 months of hormonal therapy, and received 27 courses of docetaxel and six courses of cabazitaxel as chemotherapy, but finally died of respiratory failure 33 months after the start of treatment. Conclusion Aggressive biopsy of the metastatic sites should be considered if a prostate biopsy at the primary site cannot be diagnosed definitively.

The prognostic impact of lymphatic invasion in patients with high-risk prostate cancer (PC) remains unclear. The aim of our single-institution prospective cohort study was to examine the impact of lymphatic invasion on biochemical recurrence (BCR) in patients with high-risk PC according to National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) criteria who underwent robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) and extended lymph node dissection (eLND). A total of 183 patients were included who underwent RARP and eLND for NCCN high-risk PC between June 2014 and August 2019. Lymphatic invasion in resected specimens was observed in 47 patients (26%), whereas lymph node metastasis was observed in 17 patients (9%). During follow-up, BCR was observed in 48 patients (26%). The BCR rate in patients with lymphatic invasion was significantly higher than that in patients without lymphatic invasion (p < 0.01). According to multivariable Cox proportional hazards regression analyses, lymphatic invasion was a significant independent predictor of BCR in the overall patient group and was independently associated with BCR, even in patients without lymph node metastasis. In conclusion, evaluation of lymphatic invasion could be useful in predicting BCR in patients undergoing RARP and eLND for high-risk PC.

We focused on CT attenuation values of the ureter above and below the stone (‘HU above’ and ‘HU below’) and calculated their ratio (HAB ratio). The aim was to investigate whether HAB ratio could predict impacted stones preoperatively. Material and MethodsBetween 2011 and 2019, 171 patients from our hospital that had URSL for ureteral stones with pretreatment non-contrast computed tomography (NCCT) were retrospectively identified. Ureteral wall thickness (UWT), ureteral wall volume (UWV) and HAB ratio were recorded. HAB ratio was calculated as ‘HU below’ divided by ‘HU above’. Impacted stones were defined as fixed stones that did not move by means of ureteroscopic manipulation or water pressure. ResultsOf the 171 procedures, 46 (27%) involved patients with impacted stones. Objective To prospectively investigate the natural history of asymptomatic pseudoaneurysm after robotic-assisted partial nephrectomy. Methods Robotic-assisted partial nephrectomy was undertaken for 67 patients between July 2014 and July 2018. Patients who could not undergo enhanced CT were excluded, so 60 patients were finally included in the present study. We prospectively investigated the presence of pseudoaneurysm based on early enhanced CT scan on postoperative day 7. According to our treatment policy, patients with symptomatic pseudoaneurysm underwent selective transarterial embolization. Meanwhile, patients with asymptomatic pseudoaneurysm were observed with follow-up CT imaging, regardless of the size of the aneurysm. Results Overall incidence of pseudoaneurysm on postoperative day 7 was 18% (11/60 cases). The median size of the pseudoaneurysm was 9 mm (quartile: 6-12 mm). Two patients with symptomatic pseudoaneurysm underwent selective transarterial embolization. Nine patients had asymptomatic pseudoaneurysm; in 8 of these it disappeared without therapeutic intervention. The median period from surgery to confirmed disappearance of the aneurysm was 19 days (quartile 14-32 days). In the remaining 1 patient, small asymptomatic pseudoaneurysm (2 mm) could still be observed even 1 year after surgery. Conclusion Our study showed high incidence of pseudoaneurysm 1 week after robotic-assisted partial nephrectomy that mostly disappeared without therapeutic intervention. Routine enhanced CT screening and pre-emptive embolization may not be necessary for asymptomatic renal artery pseudoaneurysm.

This study aims to evaluate the influence of myosteatosis on survival of patients after radical cystectomy (RC) for bladder cancer. We retrospectively identified 230 patients who underwent RC for bladder cancer at our three institutions between 2009 and 2018. Digitized free-hand outlines of the left and right psoas muscles were made on axial non-contrast computed tomography images at level L3. To assess myosteatosis, average total psoas density (ATPD) in Hounsfield Units (HU) was also calculated as an average of bilateral psoas muscle density. We compared cancer-specific survival (CSS) between high ATPD and low ATPD groups and performed cox regression hazard analyses to identify the predictors of CSS. Median ATPD was 44 HU (quartile: 39–47 Hounsfield Units). Two-year CSS rate in overall patients was 76.6%. Patients with low ATPD (P = 0.01) than patients with high ATPD (≥ 44 HU). This study aimed to examine whether preoperative Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System v2 (PI-RADS v2) can predict pathological extracapsular extension (EPE) after radical prostatectomy. We also studied the preoperative factors which can predict EPE.In our institute, 294 patients underwent robot assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) between December 2012 and August 2016. In this era, we performed MRI after biopsy to determine clinical stage before surgery. PI-RADS v2 scores were retrospectively reviewed using biparametric MRI and EPE in pathological mapping of resected specimens for each lobe.In the excised specimen, EPE was observed in 73 lobes (12%). The percentage of EPE by PI-RADS v2 score was score '1': 6% (17/297 lobes), '2': 3% (1/33 lobes), '3': 12% (8/67 lobes), '4': 19% (27/139 lobes), and '5': 38% (20/52 lobes). The higher the PI-RADS score, the higher the percentage of EPE (P0.01). When classified as PI-RADS score ≥4 and4, the positive predictive value (PPV) was 24.6% (47/191 lobes, 95%CI: 0.187 - 0.313) and negative predictive value (NPV) was 93.5% (371/397 lobes, 95%CI: 0.906 - 0.957). By multivariate analysis, positive biopsy core percentage ≥60%, and PI-RADS score ≥4 were independent factors for predicting EPE. The positive rate of EPE in lobes with zero, one and two factors (PI-RADS ≥4 and positive biopsy core percentage ≥60%) was 4%, 19%, and 38%, respectively.PPV and NPV of PI-RADS ≥4 for predicting pathologic EPE were 24.6% and 93.5%, respectively. PI-RADS ≥4 and positive biopsy core percentage ≥60% were independent risk factors for predicting EPE. The positive rate of EPE in lobes with zero, one and two factors (PI-RADS ≥4 and positive biopsy core percentage ≥60%) was 4%, 19%, and 38%, respectively.

Oncostatin M (OSM), a member of the IL-6 family of cytokines, has important roles in renal diseases. The relationship between OSM and kidney stone disease, however, remains unclear. To investigate the roles of OSM in the development of kidney stone disease, we generated a mouse model of renal crystal formation using OSM receptor β (OSMRβ)-deficient mice (OSMRβ−/− mice). There were fewer renal crystal deposits in OSMRβ−/− mice than in wild-type (WT) mice. Crystal-binding molecules (osteopontin, annexin A1, and annexin A2), inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α and IL-1β), and fibrosis markers (TGF-β, collagen 1a2, and α-smooth muscle actin) were also decreased in the kidneys of OSMRβ−/− mice compared with those in WT mice. Immunofluorescence staining showed that OSMRβ was expressed in renal tubular epithelial cells (RTECs) and renal fibroblasts in the model of renal crystal formation. In the cultured RTECs and renal fibroblasts, OSM directly induced the expression of crystal-binding molecules and fibrosis markers. Expressions of inflammatory cytokines were increased by stimulation with OSM in cultured renal fibroblasts. OSM may promote the formation of renal crystal deposits by directly acting on RTECs and renal fibroblasts to produce crystal-binding molecules and inflammatory cytokines.

Introduction Prostate sarcoma is an extremely rare disease with a poor prognosis. Undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma has never been described in the prostate.Case presentation: A 27-year-old man complained of frequent urination and dysuria for several years. Various examinations were suggestive of prostate sarcoma. The pathological diagnosis was confirmed as prostate sarcoma via ultrasound-guided transrectal needle biopsy. Because the location of the tumor in the prostate was confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging, we performed robot-assisted radical prostatectomy. The final pathological diagnosis was undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma. Local recurrence occurred at the front of the rectum 2 months after surgery. Although chemotherapy and radiotherapy were initially effective, he died 18 months after surgery. Conclusion Undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma of the prostate is believed to have a poor prognosis. When selecting the surgical procedure, functionality should be considered for individual cases with complete resection.

The association between mean stone density (MSD) and ureteroscopic lithotripsy outcome remains controversial. MSD automatically measured by 3D images of stones (3D-MSD) was recently reported to be more useful than manual measuring methods for predicting outcomes of shock-wave lithotripsy. This study aims to investigate whether 3D-MSD can predict ureteroscopic lithotripsy outcome. We retrospectively identified 218 patients who underwent ureteroscopic lithotripsy for kidney stones (n = 135) and ureteral stones (n = 83) between February 2011 and April 2017 with pretreatment non-contrast computed tomography (NCCT) at our hospital. Stone volume and 3D-MSD were automatically measured using high functional viewer. Logistic regression analysis was performed to identify factors contributing to treatment failure. To evaluate the safety and efficacy of the hinotori™ Surgical Robot System in preclinical and clinical studies.Preclinical studies on 10 living female porcine and four fresh male cadavers were conducted. Different types of urologic surgical procedures were performed by experienced urological surgeons using the hinotori system: partial nephrectomy, vesicourethral anastomosis, and pelvic lymph node dissection in porcine, and partial nephrectomy, radical prostatectomy, and pelvic lymph node dissection in cadavers. In a multi-institutional single-arm clinical study, radical prostatectomy was performed in 30 patients with localized prostate cancer to evaluate safety outcomes. The primary endpoint was safety profiles, including device errors and perioperative complications, and the secondary endpoints were console time, blood loss, and positive surgical margin rate.The preclinical results were similar to those reported for the daVinci surgical system. The performance of the hinotori was equivalent to that of the daVinci surgical system, based on a global assessment by the surgeons. Safety was confirmed in a first-in-human clinical study of robot-assisted radical prostatectomy using hinotori in 30 patients. The procedures were completed as planned in all cases, and three (10%) perioperative adverse events were observed.The safety of the newly developed hinotori surgical system was shown in the present preclinical and clinical studies. Further studies are required to confirm its clinical efficacy.

Treatment of urolithiasis, a benign disease, requires high efficacy and safety. Endoscopic treatment of impacted ureteral stones remains a challenging procedure for urologists, despite recent remarkable advances in surgical technology in treatment of urolithiasis. The success rate of endoscopic treatment in patients with impacted stones is reported to be lower than that in patients with nonimpacted stones. Moreover, the presence of stone impaction is associated with high rates of intraoperative and postoperative complications. The best management for patients with impacted ureteral stones should therefore be devised based on the latest knowledge and techniques. The present review focuses on the preoperative prediction of stone impaction, the safest and most effective endoscopic surgical procedures, and the most appropriate management for postoperative ureteral strictures. We overview comprehensive endoscopic management for impacted ureteral stones based on literature review and expert opinions.

Evidence of the prognostic value of pretreatment systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) after radical cystectomy (RC) for bladder cancer is limited. This study aims to assess the association between preoperative SII and prognosis after RC for bladder cancer. In this multicenter retrospective study, we calculated preoperative SII as well as the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) in 237 patients who underwent RC for bladder cancer between March 2009 and March 2018. Patients were classified into high SII and low SII groups by using the optimal cutoff value (438 × 109/L) based on receiver operating characteristic curve analysis for cancer-specific death. We compared cancer-specific survival (CSS) and overall survival (OS) between the two groups. To evaluate the prognostic impact of preoperative SII, we also performed Cox proportional regression analyses for CSS and OS. Of 237 patients, 127 patients were classified into the high SII group and 110 patients into the low SII group. During the follow-up period, 70 patients died of bladder cancer (30%) and 21 patients died from other causes (9%). Patients with high SII had significantly lower rates of CSS and OS than those with low SII (p < 0.01 and p < 0.01, respectively). Multivariable Cox proportional hazard analysis showed that high SII was independently associated with poor CSS (p = 0.01) and poor OS (p < 0.01). In conclusion, high SII could be an independent significant predictor of poor prognosis after RC in patients with bladder cancer.

A modified 5-item frailty index was recently developed as a predictor of patient comorbidity-based mortality and morbidity. We evaluate the association between preoperative modified 5-item frailty index score and prognosis after radical cystectomy for bladder cancer.In this multicenter retrospective study, we calculated modified 5-item frailty index scores of the 238 patients that underwent radical cystectomy for bladder cancer between March 2009, and March 2018. The patients were classified into high frailty index score (≥ 2) or low frailty index score (≤ 1) groups for comparison of overall and cancer-specific survival between them. To evaluate the prognostic impact of the preoperative frailty index, we also performed Cox proportional regression analyses for overall, and cancer-specific survival.Of 238 patients, 53 patients were classified into the high frailty index score group and 185 patients into the low frailty index score group. Overall, 70 patients died of bladder cancer (29%), and 21 patients died of other causes (9%). The patients with high frailty index score had significantly lower rate of overall survival than those with low frailty index score (P.01). On the other hand, there was no significant difference in cancer-specific survival rate between the 2 groups (P = .07). Multivariable Cox proportional hazard analysis revealed that high modified 5-item frailty index score was independently associated with poor overall survival (P = .01), but not with poor cancer-specific survival (P = .15).High preoperative modified 5-item frailty index score could be a significant independent predictor of poor prognosis after radical cystectomy in patients with bladder cancer.

Our objectives were to compare measurements of ureteral wall area, ureteral wall volume and ureteral wall thickness for their use in prediction of shock wave lithotripsy outcomes. We retrospectively identified 218 patients that underwent shock wave lithotripsy for ureteral calculi with pretreatment non-contrast computed tomography. We measured ureteral wall thickness, ureteral wall area and ureteral wall volume by high functional viewer. Ureteral wall thickness was defined as the maximum thickness of ureteral wall, and ureteral wall area as the area of ureteral wall around the stone in the maximal stone diameter on axial computed tomography image. Ureteral wall volume was defined as the volume of ureteral wall from the upper to lower edge of the stone. Treatment success was defined as absence of residual fragments within 3 months after the first session. We compared the outcome predictive power among these parameters and logistic regression analysis to identify factors contributing to treatment failure. The treatment success rate was 47.6%. OBJECTIVES To evaluate the impact of sarcopenia and myosteatosis on urinary incontinence after prostatectomy. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed consecutive patients who underwent robot-assisted radical prostatectomy without nerve sparing between December 2012 and March 2019. Psoas muscle index and average total psoas density, which were measured on preoperative computed tomography images at level L3, were used to evaluate sarcopenia and myosteatosis, respectively. In addition, several magnetic resonance imaging variables associated with pelvic muscles, the urethra and the prostate were measured. Urinary continence was defined as non-use or use of just one incontinence pad per day. Logistic regression analyses aimed to identify the predictors of urinary incontinence 3 and 12 months after surgery. RESULTS Overall, 121 patients were included in the analysis. The incidence rates of urinary incontinence 3 and 12 months after surgery were 42% (51/121 cases) and 16% (19/121 cases), respectively. OBJECTIVES To assess the impact and availability of ureteroscopy-assisted puncture for percutaneous renal access during ultrasonography-guided miniaturized (mini)-endoscopic combined intrarenal surgery for large volume renal and/or proximal ureteral stones. METHODS We conducted a multi-institutional retrospective cohort study for urolithiasis treatment. Data from a total of 313 patients who underwent mini-endoscopic combined intrarenal surgery to treat renal and/or ureteral stones between January 2016 and April 2020 were collected. We compared the outcomes between ultrasonography-guided mini-endoscopic combined intrarenal surgery with and without ureteroscopy-assisted puncture (ureteroscopy-assisted puncture(+) group [n = 126] and ureteroscopy-assisted puncture(-) group [n = 187] group, respectively). The primary outcome was requirement for additional surgical intervention. Secondary outcomes were stone-free rate, complications and total procedure, fluoroscopy, hospital stay, and postoperative ureteral stent placement durations. OBJECTIVE To evaluate the prognostic impact of sarcopenia and myosteatosis on survival after radical cystectomy for bladder cancer. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed consecutive patients who underwent radical cystectomy for bladder cancer between 2010 and 2019, and 123 patients were finally included in this single-center study. Pretreatment computed tomography images at the L3 level were used to calculate skeletal muscle index and skeletal muscle density. Sarcopenia and myosteatosis were diagnosed according to the gender-specific cutoff values of skeletal muscle index and skeletal muscle density used in a previous study. We compared overall survival and cancer-specific survival between patients with and without sarcopenia/myosteatosis. We also performed Cox proportional regression analyses to identify the predictors of overall survival and cancer-specific survival. RESULTS The median patient age was 74 years, and 20 patients (16%) were female. Thirty-eight patients (31%) died from bladder cancer and 13 (11%) died from other causes. The patients with sarcopenia (n = 48, 39%) and those with myosteatosis (n = 101, 82%) had significantly lower overall survival and cancer-specific survival rates than those without sarcopenia and those without myosteatosis, respectively. First‑line chemotherapy for men with metastatic castration‑resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) has been employed to improve overall survival (OS) and progression‑free survival (PFS). However, several new agents for CRPC after first‑line chemotherapy prolonged survival by only a few months. To develop a new treatment modality, we conducted a phase III randomized trial of personalized peptide vaccination (PPV) for human leukocyte antigen (HLA)‑A24‑positive patients with castration‑resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) for whom docetaxel chemotherapy failed. This randomized, double‑blind, placebo‑controlled, phase III trial was carried out at 68 medical centers in Japan. Patients were randomly assigned at a 2:1 ratio to receive PPV or placebo. Four of 12 warehouse peptides selected based on pre‑existing peptide‑specific immunoglobulin G levels or the corresponding placebo were subcutaneously injected in 6 doses weekly and then bi‑weekly following the maximum of 30 doses until disease progression. The primary end‑point was overall survival (OS). Efficacy analyses were performed by the full analysis set. Between August 2013 and April 2016, 310 patients were randomly assigned, and 306 patients were analyzed. Baseline characteristics were balanced between groups.
