Two newly developed digital ICs have been able to enhance remarkably the operability and reliability of the HDTV camera. Many kinds of fine adjustments, such as the color fidelity, color saturation, and the image quality, are possible by the attachment of a remote control unit. A prototype HDTV camera with a 2/3" image format and a 1.3 M pixel FIT-CCD image sensor, has been made using these ICs. >

A novel stereoscopic video movie camera, 3D-CAM, has been developed. It incorporates two eyelike microcamera heads using 300K pixel color IT-CCD (interline-transfer charge coupled device) sensors. The 3D-CAM records right and left images alternately through the two camera heads onto a VHS-C video cassette tape. Viewers see these images on a TV monitor through liquid-crystal shutter glasses, whose shutter action is synchronized with the images, so that the right and left images are mixed in the brain to create fine stereoscopic images. To obtain the best 3-D images, many kinds of new technologies have been developed, including: sequential switching of the right and left image signals by field intervals in camera heads; accurate registration according to the CCD geometrical arrangement; relation between the position of the object and right and left camera head distances; and concourse angle between the subject and two camera heads. Fine color stereoscopic images are easily obtained by the 3D-CAM without two video cameras and two VCRs. Many kinds of applications are expected, such as entertainment, robot eyes, manipulators, simulators, and medical use. >

A microminiature color camera system with an extremely small camera head utilizing a CCD (computer-controlled display) image sensor is described. The camera system consists of a camera head unit with a camera holder, a camera control unit, and an AC power supply unit. The camera head is connected to the camera control unit by a 4 mm diameter, 2 m long cable. The design used separates the camera head from the control unit, so that it can meet a variety of customer needs or special purposes. Since the output signal from the camera control unit is a standard NTSC signal, it can be easily connected to a standard TV monitor or to an independent video cassette recorder. The camera head (17.5 mm in diameter and 53 mm in length) incorporates a small, wide-angle 7.5 mm focus lens, a 200000 picture element CCD image sensor with color filter array and compact electronic circuits. The design, specifications and applications of the system are discussed.

A new solid-state color television camera has been developed using a frequency interleaving color signal pickup system. Frequency interleaved modulated color signals combined in the same frequency bandwidth were obtained as output signas from a CCD image sensor and were electrically separated by a comb filter using 1H delay line. High resolution and fine color fidelity pictures, practical for home use, were obtained using only one interline transfer CCD having 500 V x 400 H picture elements.

A field integration mode CCD color television camera using a frequency interleaving method has been developed. Excellent picture quality without field time lag and aliasing was obtained. A small size, light weight and low power consumption color video camera with an all IC electronic circuit has been developed.

Theoretical and experimental results are presented of a new color TV camera pickup system using a frequency interleaving method. This system uses not only spatial-frequency encoding techniques, but also color stripe filters inclined to the line scanning direction. Frequency interleaved modulated color signals occupied together in the same frequency bandwidth are obtained as the output signals of the image pickup tube, and are electrically separated by a comb filter.

A new solid-state color television camera has been developed using charge-coupled devices (CCD) which have 174,080 (512V X340H) picture elements. High resolution and fine color fidelity pictures practicable for commercial use are obtained using two CCDS and a yellow-white color stripe filter.

走査線3本で位相が2π変化するように色ストライプフィルターを斜めに配列することにより, 2π/3の位相関係で周波数インタリーブすることができることを見出し, 変調赤・青信号を非変調の輝度信号と周波数帯域を共有しうる2π/3周波数インタリーブ撮像方式を提案し, 搬送波と周波数成分の関係を明らかにした.また高輝度被写体のとき搬送色信号を除去する着色防止方式を提案し, 単管式カラーテレビカメラの性能を向上した.

A new field integration frequency interleaving color-television pickup system has been developed for a single-chip CCD color video camera. This system uses anew color filter array, comprising a plurality of unit filter arrays, each unit consisting of 2 × 4 filter elements of yellow, cyan, and green color. High color fidelity and high-resolution color pictures without frame integration lag were obtained using only a ½-inch interline transfer CCD having 500 × 400 picture elements.

透明電極を用いて64画素CCD (charge-coupled device : 電荷結合素子) を試作し, ラインセンサーとして撮像実験を行った.その結果, 光の利用率が向上し, 従来の金属電極CCDにくらべて感度が数倍向上し, 撮像装置として有利なことがわかった.また1回の転送ごとに画素数より数個多いクロックパルスを用いて信号を転送する駆動方式を用いることにより, 残留電荷を1回の走査で消去でき, 画質を向上させることができた.
