Background: We designed a deep learning model for assessing 18F-FDG PET/CT for early prediction of local and distant failures for patients with locally advanced cervical cancer.Methods: All 142 patients with cervical cancer underwent 18F-FDG PET/CT for pretreatment staging and received allocated treatment. To augment the amount of image data, each tumor was represented as 11 slice sets each of which contains 3 2D orthogonal slices to acquire a total of 1562 slice sets. In each round of k-fold cross-validation, a well-trained proposed model and a slice-based optimal threshold were derived from a training set and used to classify each slice set in the test set into the categories of with or without local or distant failure. The classification results of each tumor were aggregated to summarize a tumor-based prediction result.Results: In total, 21 and 26 patients experienced local and distant failures, respectively. Regarding local recurrence, the tumor-based prediction result summarized from all test sets demonstrated that the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and accuracy were 71%, 93%, 63%, 95%, and 89%, respectively. Background: Amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) is a rare disorder classically characterized by the abrupt onset of hypotension, hypoxia and consumptive coagulopathy during delivery or in the immediate postpartum period. It is postulated that amniotic fluid,fetal cells, hair or other debris enters the maternal circulation, causing cardiopulmonary collapse. The precise pathophysiologic mechanism remains elusive, treatment is supportive, and AFE carries a mortality of up to 80%., Case: A 21-year-old woman, gravida 2, para 1, at 33+ weeks' gestation with an uncomplicated pregnancy, was admitted with preterm uterine contractions and underwent a low-transverse cesarean section for malpresentation after tocolysis failure. Surgery was without complications; however, 75 minutes postoperatively the patient experienced cardiopulmonary collapse with loss of vital signs. After 20 minutes of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) was begun. The patient's status improved rapidly, she was discharged 7 days postoperatively in good condition and remains without sequelae., Conclusion: Though there is no definitive treatment for AFE, ECMO provided oxygenation and allowed the patient to recover. ECMO may be useful in the treatment of severe cases of AFE.

It is very important to establish a tumor marker combination with strong lead-time effects in early detection of recurrent ovarian cancer. This retrospective study included 32 patients with recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer after primary therapy. The serum levels of tissue polypeptide specific antigen (TPS) and carbohydrate antigen 125 (CA-125) were followed-up. Normal upper limits of serum levels of 78.5 U/l for TPS and 35 U/ml for CA-125 were selected according to the 95th percentile of serum concentrations measured in healthy control patients. When compared with other follow-up modalities, TPS and CA-125 appeared lead-time effective with early diagnosis of recurrent ovarian cancer in 18 and 16 patients, respectively. This difference was not statistically significant. The combination of TPS and CA-125 provided lead-time effects in 24 patients. Our data indicate that the combination of TPS and CA-125 is a potential tool in the early prediction of recurrent ovarian cancer.
