The efficacy and safety of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) have not been investigated in kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) with diabetes. We evaluated the impact of SGLT2i in a multicenter cohort of diabetic KTRs.A total of 2083 KTRs with diabetes were enrolled from 6 transplant centers in Korea. Among them, 226 (10.8%) patients were prescribed SGLT2i for90 d. The primary outcome was a composite outcome of all-cause mortality, death-censored graft failure (DCGF), and serum creatinine doubling. An acute dip in estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) over 10% was surveyed after SGLT2i use.During the mean follow-up of 62.9 ± 42.2 mo, the SGLT2i group had a lower risk of primary composite outcome than the control group in the multivariate and propensity score-matched models (adjusted hazard ratio, 0.43; 95% confidence interval, 0.24-0.78; P = 0.006 and adjusted hazard ratio, 0.45; 95% confidence interval, 0.24-0.85; P = 0.013, respectively). Multivariate analyses consistently showed a decreased risk of DCGF and serum creatinine doubling in the SGLT2i group. The overall eGFR remained stable without the initial dip after SGLT2i use. A minority (15.6%) of the SGLT2i users showed acute eGFR dip during the first month, but the eGFR recovered thereafter. The risk factors for the eGFR dip were time from transplantation to SGLT2i usage and mean tacrolimus trough level.SGLT2i improved a composite of all-cause mortality, DCGF, or serum creatinine doubling in KTRs. SGLT2i can be used safely and have beneficial effects on preserving graft function in diabetic KTRs.

The smoking status of kidney transplant recipients and living donors has not been explored concurrently in a prospective study, and the synergistic adverse impact on outcomes remains uncertain. The self-reported smoking status and frequency were obtained from recipients and donors at the time of kidney transplantation in a prospective multicenter longitudinal cohort study (NCT02042963). Smoking status was categorized as "ever smoker" (current and former smokers collectively) or "never smoker." Among 858 eligible kidney transplant recipients and the 858 living donors, 389 (45.3%) and 241 (28.1%) recipients were considered ever smokers at the time of transplant. During the median follow-up period of 6 years, the rate of death-censored graft failure was significantly higher in ever-smoker recipients than in never-smoker recipients (adjusted HR, 2.82; 95% CI 1.01-7.87; P = 0.048). A smoking history of >20 pack-years was associated with a significantly higher rate of death-censored graft failure than a history of ≤20 pack-years (adjusted HR, 2.83; 95% CI 1.19-6.78; P = 0.019). No donor smoking effect was found in terms of graft survival. The smoking status of the recipients and donors or both did not affect the rate of biopsy-proven acute rejection, major adverse cardiac events, all-cause mortality, or post-transplant diabetes mellitus. Taken together, the recipient's smoking status before kidney transplantation is dose-dependently associated with impaired survival.

We evaluated the temporal trend of preemptive kidney transplantation (KT) and the effect of pretransplant dialysis duration on post-transplant outcomes. This was a nationwide cohort study of the first-time 3392 living donor KT (LDKT) recipients (2014-2019). The annual changes in proportion of preemptive KT, factors associated with preemptive KT, and post-transplant outcomes were analyzed. Preemptive KT was performed in 816 (24.1%) patients. Annual trend analysis revealed gradual decrease in preemptive KT over time (P = 0.042). Among the underlying causes of preemptive KT, the proportion of diabetes increased and that of glomerulonephritis decreased during the study period. Glomerulonephritis as the primary renal disease was a predictor of preemptive KT. Patients with pretransplant dialysis >6 months showed increased graft failure risk than preemptive KT in the subdistribution of hazard model for competing risk (adjusted hazard ratio [aHR], 2.53; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.09-5.87; P = 0.031) and in propensity score-matched analysis (aHR, 2.45; 95% CI, 1.02-5.92; P = 0.034); however, pretransplant dialysis ≤6 months showed comparable graft survival with preemptive KT in both analyses. Preemptive KT declined over successive years, associated with an increase in diabetes and a decrease in glomerulonephritis as underlying causes of KT. Short period of dialysis less than 6 months does not affect graft survival compared with preemptive KT; however, longer dialysis decreases graft survival.

The C-reactive protein-to-albumin ratio (CAR) is a prognostic marker in various diseases that represents patients’ inflammation and nutritional status. We investigated the prognostic value of CAR in critically ill patients with severe acute kidney injury (AKI) requiring continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). We retrospectively collected data from eight hospitals in Korea. The patients were divided into quartiles according to CAR levels at the time of CRRT initiation. Cox regression analyses were performed to investigate the effect of CAR on in-hospital mortality. Among 3995 patients who underwent CRRT, the in-hospital mortality rate was 67.3% during the follow-up period. The 7-day, 30-day, and in-hospital mortality rates increased toward higher CAR quartiles. Background The platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) is a marker of inflammation and predictor of mortality in a variety of diseases. However, the effectiveness of PLR as a predictor of mortality in patients with severe acute kidney injury (AKI) is uncertain. We evaluated the association between PLR and mortality in critically ill patients with severe AKI who underwent continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). Methods This is a retrospective observational cohort study, and a total of 1044 patients with AKI who underwent CRRT in Kyungpook National University Hospital from 2017 to 2021 were analyzed. The study subjects were divided into quintiles according to the PLR at CRRT initiation. A Cox proportional hazards model was used to investigate the association between PLR and mortality. Results PLR was associated with in-hospital mortality in a non-linear manner, showing a higher mortality rate at both ends of the PLR. The Kaplan–Meier curve analysis revealed the highest mortality rates with the first and fifth quintiles, while the lowest mortality rate occurred with the third quintile. Compared with the third quintile (the lowest mortality rate group), the first (adjusted hazard ratio [aHR] 1.94, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.44–2.62, P P = 0.002) quintiles of PLR had significantly higher in-hospital mortality. The first and fifth quintiles showed a consistently increased risk of 30-day and 90-day mortality compared with the third quintile. In the subgroup analysis, lower and higher PLRs were predictors of in-hospital mortality in patients with older age, female sex, hypertension, diabetes, and higher Sequential Organ Failure Assessment score. Conclusion Both the lower and higher PLRs were independent predictors of in-hospital mortality in critically ill patients with AKI who underwent CRRT. Thus, the PLR may be a useful and easily accessible prognostic indicator for patients with severe AKI.

Introduction: We hypothesize that remote patient monitoring (RPM) for automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) and feedback could enhance patient self-management and improve outcomes. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of RPM-APD compared to traditional APD (T-APD) without RPM. Methods: In this multicenter, randomized controlled trial, patients on APD were randomized to T-APD (n = 29) or RPM-APD (n = 28) at 12 weeks and followed until 25 weeks. Health-related quality of life (HRQOL), patient and medical staff satisfaction with RPM-APD, and dialysis-related outcomes were compared between the 2 groups. Results: We found no significant differences in HRQOL scores at the time of enrollment and randomization between RPM-APD and T-APD. At the end of the study, the RPM-APD group showed better HRQOL for the sleep domain (p = 0.049) than the T-APD group and the T-APD group showed better HRQOL for the sexual function domain (p = 0.030) than the RPM-APD group. However, we found no significant interactions between the time and groups in terms of HRQOL. Different HRQOL domains significantly improved over time in patients undergoing RPM-APD (effects of kidney disease, p = 0.025) and T-APD (burden of kidney disease, p = 0.029; physical component summary, p = 0.048). Though medical staff satisfaction with RPM-APD was neutral, most patients were quite satisfied with RPM-APD (median score 82; possible total score 105 on 21 5-item scales) and the rating scores were maintained during the study period. We found no significant differences in dialysis adherence, accuracy, adequacy, overhydration status, blood pressure, or the number of unplanned visits between the 2 groups. Discussion/Conclusion: Although HRQOL and dialysis-related outcomes were comparable between RPM-APD and T-APD, RPM-APD was positive in terms of patient satisfaction. Further long-term and large-scale studies will be required to determine the efficacy of RPM-APD. The impact of pretransplant and posttransplant alcohol consumption on outcomes in kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) is uncertain. Self-reported alcohol consumption was obtained at the time of transplant and 2 years after transplant in a prospective cohort study. Among 907 KTRs, 368 (40.6%) were drinkers at the time of transplant. Compared to non-drinkers, alcohol consumption did not affect the risk of death-censored graft failure (DCGF), biopsy-proven acute rejection (BPAR), cardiovascular events, or all-cause mortality. Compared to persistent non-drinkers, the development of DCGF, BPAR, cardiovascular events, all-cause mortality, or posttransplant diabetes mellitus was not affected by the alcohol consumption pattern (persistent, de novo, or stopped drinking) over time. However, de novo drinkers had a significantly higher total cholesterol (p < 0.001) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels (p = 0.005) compared to persistent non-drinkers 5 years after transplant, and had significantly higher total cholesterol levels (p = 0.002) compared to the stopped drinking group 7 years after transplant, even after adjusting for the use of lipid-lowering agents, age, sex, and body mass index. Although pretransplant and posttransplant alcohol consumption were not associated with major outcomes in KTRs during the median follow-up of 6.0 years, a new start of alcohol use after KT results in a relatively poor lipid profile.Clinical Trial Registration:clinicaltrials.gov, identifier NCT02042963.

The 2017 Korean guideline on community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) recommended beta-lactam plus macrolide combination therapy for patients hospitalized with severe pneumonia, and beta-lactam monotherapy for mild-to-moderate pneumonia. However, antibiotic treatment regimen for mild-to-moderate CAP has never been evaluated for Korean patients.In this retrospective cohort study, study patients were selected from three evaluation periods (October 1 to December 31, 2014; April 1 to June 30, 2016; October 1 to December 31, 2017) of the National Quality Assessment Program for CAP management and the National Health Insurance data on the selected patients was extracted from 1 year before the first patient enrollment and 1 year after the last patient enrollment at each evaluation period for the analysis of risk adjustment and outcomes. The survival rates between beta-lactam plus macrolide (BM) groups and beta-lactam monotherapy (B) were compared using a Kaplan-Meier survival analysis after propensity score matching by age, gender, confusion, urea, respiratory rate, blood pressure at age of 65 years or older (CURB-65), and Charlson comorbidity index for risk adjustment. The differences between autumn and spring season were also evaluated.A total of 30,053 patients were enrolled. Mean age and the male-to-female ratio were 64.7 ± 18.4 and 14,197:15,856, respectively. After matching, 2,397 patients in each group were analyzed. The 30-day survival rates did not differ between the BM and B groups (97.3% vs. 96.5%,Beta-lactam plus macrolide combination therapy shows potential as an empirical therapy for CAP with CURB-65 ≥ 2, especially in autumn.

This study evaluated the association of the serum total cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (TC/HDL-C) with mortality in incident peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients. We performed a multi-center, prospective cohort study of 630 incident PD patients from 2008 to 2015 in Korea. Participants were stratified into quintiles according to baseline TC, HDL-C, LDL-C and TC/HDL-C. The association between mortality and each lipid profile was evaluated using multivariate Cox regression analysis. During a median follow-up period of 70.3 ± 25.2 months, 185 deaths were recorded. The highest TC/HDL-C group had the highest body mass index, percentage of diabetes and serum albumin level. Multivariate analysis demonstrated that the highest quintile of TC/HDL-C was associated with increased risk of all-cause mortality (hazard ratio 1.69, 95% confidence interval 1.04–2.76; p = 0.036), whereas TC, HDL-C and LDL-C were not associated with mortality. Linear regression analysis showed a positive correlation between TC/HDL-C and body mass index. Increased serum TC/HDL-C was an independent risk factor for mortality in the subgroup of old age, female, cardiovascular disease and low HDL-C. The single lipid marker of TC or HDL-C was not able to predict mortality in PD patients. However, increased serum TC/HDL-C was independently associated with all-cause mortality in PD patients.

Background: Predicting early mortality is important in patients undergoing continuous kidney replacement therapy (CKRT), especially in the first 48 h. This study aimed to determine the predictive performance of the Simplified Acute Physiologic Score (SAPS) II, the Acute Physiologic and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE) II, and the Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) scores for early mortality in patients receiving CKRT. Methods: Data from patients with acute kidney injury receiving CKRT were consecutively and retrospectively obtained at a tertiary medical center between August 2017 and March 2021. The outcomes included 48-h and 7-day mortality. The scoring systems were evaluated via discrimination at the time of CKRT initiation (using area under the receiver operating characteristics curve [AUROC]) and calibration (via Hosmer-Lemeshow goodness-of-fit C statistics). Results: Among eligible 652 patients, 95 (14.6%) and 212 (32.5%) died within 48 h and within 7 days, respectively. The AUROC for SAPS II (0.71, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.65–0.77, p = 0.016 vs. APACHE II score, p = 0.044 vs. SOFA score) was significantly higher than that of the APACHE II (0.66, 95% CI: 0.60–0.72) and SOFA scores (0.66, 95% CI: 0.60–0.72) for 48-h mortality. However, no significant differences in the AUROCs for SAPS II, APACHE II, and SOFA scores for 7-day mortality were observed. The calibration of the SAPS II for 48-h and 7-day mortality was adequate (p = 0.507 and p = 0.141, respectively). Conclusions: The predictive performance of SAPS II for mortality within the first 48 h was superior to that of the APACHE II and SOFA scores in patients with acute kidney injury receiving CKRT.

This study aimed to compare health-related quality of life (HRQOL) over time in patients initiating hemodialysis (HD) or peritoneal dialysis (PD). A total of 989 incident patients starting HD or PD were included from a prospective nationwide cohort study. HRQOL was assessed 3, 12, and 24 months after the start of dialysis. The scores of questionnaires were adjusted for clinical and socioeconomic parameters. The adjusted three months scores of patients on PD showed better HRQOL in eight end-stage renal disease (ESRD), three physical component summary and one mental component summary domains compared with patients on HD. The association between angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor (ACE-I) or angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) and the risk of mortality in hospitalized patients with severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) was investigated. This retrospective cohort study was performed in all hospitalized patients with COVID-19 in tertiary hospitals in Daegu, Korea. Patients were classified based on whether they received ACE-I or ARB before COVID-19 diagnosis. The analysis of the primary outcome, in-hospital mortality, was performed using the Cox proportional hazards regression model. Of 130 patients with COVID-19, 30 (23.1%) who received ACE-I or ARB exhibited an increased risk of in-hospital mortality (adjusted hazard ratio, 2.20; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.10–4.38; P = 0.025). ACE-I or ARB was also associated with severe complications, such as acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) (adjusted odds ratio [aOR], 2.58; 95% CI, 1.02–6.51; P = 0.045) and acute kidney injury (AKI) (aOR, 3.06; 95% CI, 1.15–8.15; P = 0.026). The response to erythropoiesis stimulating agents (ESAs) is affected by inflammation linked to middle molecules in hemodialysis (HD) patients. We evaluated the effect of a medium cut-off (MCO) dialyzer on ESA resistance in maintenance HD patients. Forty-nine patients who underwent high-flux HD were randomly allocated to the MCO or high-flux group. The outcome of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is associated with organ damage, however, the information about the relationship between acute kidney injury (AKI) and COVID-19 is still rare. We evaluated the clinical features and prognosis of COVID-19 patients with AKI according to the AKI severity. Medical data of hospitalized COVID-19 patients in two university-based hospitals during an outbreak in Daegu, South Korea, were retrospectively analyzed. AKI and its severity were defined according to the Acute Kidney Injury Network. Of the 164 hospitalized patients with COVID-19, 30 patients (18.3%) had AKI, 14, 4, and 12 patients had stage 1, 2, and 3, respectively. The median age was significantly higher in AKI patients than in non-AKI patients (75.5 vs. 67.0 years, p = 0.005). There were 17 deaths (56.7%) among AKI patients, 4 (28.6%), 1 (25.0%), and 12 (100.0%), respectively. In-hospital mortality was higher in AKI patients than in non-AKI patients (56.7% vs. 20.8%, p &lt, 0.001). After adjusting for potential confounding factors, stage 3 AKI was associated with higher mortality than either non-AKI or stage 1 AKI (hazard ratio (HR) = 3.62 (95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.75&ndash, 7.48), p = 0.001, HR = 15.65 (95% CI = 2.43&ndash, 100.64), p = 0.004). Among the AKI patients, acute respiratory distress syndrome and low serum albumin on admission were considered independent risk factors for stage 3 AKI (both p &lt, 0.05). Five patients with stage 3 AKI underwent dialysis and eventually died. In conclusion, COVID-19 patients with severe AKI had fatal outcomes.

Background and Aims Innovative strategies to promote adherence to immunosuppressants in kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) is imperative. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and stability of the information and communication technology (ICT)-based centralized monitoring system in increasing medication adherence in Korean KTRs. Method A prospective, multicenter, randomized controlled study was conducted (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT03136588). All KTRs were randomized into the ICT-based centralized monitoring or the control group and had follow-up visits every 4 weeks during 6 months. The ICT-based centralized monitoring system alerted both patients and medical staff with texts and pill box alarms if there was a dosage/dosing time error or a missed dose. Medication adherence and transplant outcomes were compared between the two groups, and patient satisfaction on the ICT-based monitoring system was evaluated. Results Among enrolled 114 KTRs, 57 patients were assigned to the ICT-based centralized monitoring group and 57 patients to the control group. Mean adherence at each follow-up visit was not significantly different between groups. No differences in intrapatient variability of tacrolimus and mycophenolic acid levels, renal function, and adverse transplant outcomes were observed between the intervention and control groups, as well as between the intervention group with feedback generation and the intervention group without feedback generation. Overall patient satisfaction with the ICT-based centralized monitoring system was high and significantly improved during the study period (P = 0.012). Conclusion Although the ICT-based centralized monitoring system did not maximize mediation adherence or enhance transplant outcomes in Korean KTRs due to high baseline adherence, patient satisfaction with the system was high. We identified the future possibility that the ICT-based centralized monitoring system could be successfully applied in clinical trials targeting other disease groups with impaired adherence.

Background and Aims Little is known regarding the safe fixed dose of mycophenolic acid (MPA) for preventing biopsy-proven acute rejection (BPAR) in kidney transplant recipients (KTRs). We investigated the correlation of MPA trough concentration (MPA C0) and dose with renal transplant outcomes and adverse events. Method This study included 79 consecutive KTRs who received MPA with tacrolimus (TAC) and corticosteroids. The MPA C0 of all the enrolled KTRs was measured, which was determined monthly by using particle-enhanced turbidimetric inhibition immunoassay for 12 months, and clinical data were collected at each time point. The clinical endpoints included BPAR, any cytopenia, and BK or cytomegalovirus infections. Results No differences in MPA C0 and dose were observed between KTRs with or without BPAR or viral infections under statistically comparable TAC concentrations. MPA C0 was significantly higher in patients with leukopenia (P = 0.021) and anemia (P = 0.002) compared with those without cytopenia. The MPA dose was significantly higher in patients with thrombocytopenia (P = 0.002) compared with those without thrombocytopenia. MPA C0 ≥ 3.5 µg/mL was an independent risk factor for leukopenia (adjusted odds ratio [AOR] 3.80, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.24–11.64, P = 0.019) and anemia (AOR 5.90, 95% CI 1.27–27.51, P = 0.024). An MPA dose greater than the mean value of 1188.8 mg/day was an independent risk factor for thrombocytopenia (AOR 3.83, 95% CI 1.15–12.78, P = 0.029). However, an MPA dose less than the mean value of 1137.3 mg/day did not increase the risk of BPAR. Conclusion Either a higher MPA C0 or dose was associated with an increased risk of cytopenia, but neither a lower MPA C0 nor dose was associated with BPAR within the first year of transplantation. Hence, a reduced MPA dose with TAC and corticosteroids might be safe in terms of reducing hematologic abnormalities without causing rejection.

IntroductionCrescentic glomerulonephritis (CrGN) is a histologic feature of severe glomerular injury, clinically characterized by a rapid decline of renal function when not treated in a timely fashion. Factors associated with CrGN prognosis have not been thoroughly investigated. This study investigated the prognostic predictors of renal outcomes associated with CrGN, such as the histopathologic classification of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated glomerulonephritis, arteriosclerosis, and tertiary lymphoid organ (TLO) formation.MethodsA total of 114 patients diagnosed with CrGN between 2010 and 2018 at two university-based hospitals has been retrospectively analyzed. Relationships between potential predictors and renal outcomes were analyzed using Cox proportional hazards model and linear regression analysis.ResultsThe mean age was 61.0 ± 15.3 years, and 49.1% were male. Among them, 92 (80.7%) and 11 (9.6%) patients were positive for ANCA and for anti-glomerular basement membrane antibody, respectively. During the median follow-up of 458.0 days, 55 patients (48.2%) had advanced to end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Cox proportional hazards analysis revealed that patients under the mixed and sclerotic classes had worse renal survival compared to those in the focal class (mixed: hazard ratio [HR], 3.74; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.18 to 11.82; P = 0.025; sclerotic: HR, 4.84; 95% CI, 1.44 to 16.32; P = 0.011). Severe arteriosclerosis was also associated with poor renal survival (HR, 2.44; 95% CI, 1.04 to 5.77; P = 0.042). TLOs were observed in 41 patients (36.0%). Moreover, TLO formation was also a prognostic factor for ESRD (HR, 1.82; 95% CI, 1.03 to 3.21; P = 0.040). In the multivariate linear regression analysis, age and sclerotic class were independent predictors for the change in estimated glomerular filtration rate during 1 year after biopsy.ConclusionsSpecific histopathologic findings, histopathologic classification, severity of arteriosclerosis, and TLO formation provide helpful information in predicting renal outcomes associated with CrGN.

Growth differentiation factor-15 (GDF-15) is a stress-responsive cytokine. This study evaluated the association between GDF-15 and in-hospital mortality among patients with severe acute kidney injury (AKI) requiring continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). Among the multicenter prospective CRRT cohort between 2017 and 2019, 66 patients whose blood sample was available were analyzed. Patients were divided into three groups according to the GDF-15 concentrations. The median GDF-15 level was 7865.5 pg/mL (496.9 pg/mL in the healthy control patients). Baseline characteristics were not different among tertile groups except the severity scores and serum lactate level, which were higher in the third tertile. After adjusting for confounding factors, the patients with higher GDF-15 had significantly increased risk of mortality (second tertile: adjusted hazards ratio [aHR], 3.67; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.05–12.76; p = 0.041; third tertile: aHR, 6.81; 95% CI, 1.98–23.44; p = 0.002). Furthermore, GDF-15 predicted in-hospital mortality (area under the curve, 0.710; 95% CI, 0.585–0.815) better than APACHE II and SOFA scores. Serum GDF-15 concentration was elevated in AKI patients requiring CRRT, higher in more severe patients. GDF-15 is a better independent predictor for in-hospital mortality of critically ill AKI patients than the traditional risk scoring system such as APACHE II and SOFA scores.

Effect of pH on the sorption and desorption of the chlorinated phenols (2-chlorophenol and 2,4-dichlorophenol) in HDTMA-montmorillonite organoclays was investigated using sequential batch experiments. 2,4-dichlorophenol exhibited higher affinity in both sorption and desorption than 2-chlorophenol at pH 4.85 and 9.15. For both chlorophenols, the protonated speciation (at pH 4.85) exhibited a higher affinity in both sorption and desorption than the predominant deprotonated speciation (about 80% and 95% of 2-chlorophenate and 2,4-dichlophenate anions at pH 9.15, respectively). Desorption of chlorinated phenols was strongly dependent on the current pH regardless of their speciation during the previous sorption stage. No appreciable desorption resistance of the chlorinated phenols was observed in organoclays after sequential desorptions. Affinity of both chlorophenols in bisolute competitive sorption and desorption was reduced compared to that in a single-solute system due to the competition between solutes. The ideal adsorbed solution theory coupled with the single-solute Freundlich model successfully predicted the bisolute competitive sorption and desorption equilibria.
