Patients with ALK-positive ALCL, extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, and mycosis fungoides/sezary syndrome were not included in the study. Abstract

Electrical characterization of an operating pn-junction diode is performed with scanning capacitance microscopy (SCM) and Kelvin probe force microscopy (KPFM) with submicron scale resolution. We image the spatial distribution of the carrier density inside a diode with SCM and the potential distribution on the surface of the operating diode with KPFM. The surface potential distribution measured at reverse bias is different from that in bulk. The potential drop is extended deep into a lightly p-doped region at reverse bias. The positive fixed oxide charge of 1-2x10[sup 11]/cm[sup 2] would explain the modified potential drop: A known detrimental effect in such a device. The potential distribution at forward bias is nearly bulklike. The potential drops only near the metal-semiconductor junction. © 2001 American Institute of Physics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

T lymphocyte non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (T-NHL) represents an aggressive and largely therapy-resistant subtype of lymphoid malignancies. As deregulated apoptosis is a frequent hallmark of lymphomagenesis, we analyzed gene expression profiles and protein levels of primary human T-NHL samples for various apoptotic regulators. We identified the apoptotic regulator MCL-1 as the only pro-survival BCL-2 family member to be highly expressed throughout all human T-NHL subtypes. Functional validation of pro-survival protein members of the BCL-2 family in two independent T-NHL mouse models identified that the partial loss of Mcl-1 significantly delayed T-NHL development in vivo. Moreover, the inducible reduction of MCL-1 protein levels in lymphoma-burdened mice severely impaired the continued survival of T-NHL cells, increased their susceptibility to chemotherapeutics and delayed lymphoma progression. Lymphoma viability remained unaffected by the genetic deletion or pharmacological inhibition of all alternative BCL-2 family members. Consistent with a therapeutic window for MCL-1 treatment within the context of the whole organism, we observed an only minimal toxicity after systemic heterozygous loss of Mcl-1 in vivo. We conclude that re-activation of mitochondrial apoptosis by blockade of MCL-1 represents a promising therapeutic strategy to treat T-cell lymphoma.

Abstract

Beach erosion by storm condition is so severe and it causes major unbalance on sand budget along the coastline. Beach erosion including overwash is complicated and difficult to analyze. The beach erosion of overwash using the artificial neural network is compared with the empirical equation developed by robust regression and experiment data in this study. Error-back propagation method is used for training artificial neural networks. The eroded volume of sand is well estimated by the artificial neural network without understanding mechanism of beach process. The study focused on onshore and offshore sediment transport by overwash on storm wave condition.

(ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT04094142) B Results: b Among the 66 patients, 47 patients (71.2%) had non-germinal center B cell like (non-GCB) subtype diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and 11 patients (16.7%) had GCB subtype DLBCL. Among these patients, total of six patients with MYD88 mutation showed objective response to the R2A regimen with three CR patients. The ORR was 54.5% [36 patients, 95% confidence interval (CI) 42.4-66.4] and CR rate was 33.3% (22 patients, 95% CI: 22.4-45.4). [Extracted from the article]
