We investigated the prognostic importance of noninvasive factors in predicting sperm retrieval failure in idiopathic nonobstructive azoospermia (iNOA). We studied 193 patients with nonobstructive azoospermia who underwent microsurgical testicular sperm extraction. The Chi-square test and Mann–Whitney U tests for clinical parameters and seminiferous tubule distribution were used for between-group comparisons. A logistic regression analysis was conducted to identify predictors of retrieval failure. Area under the receiver operating characteristic curve for each variable was evaluated, and the net clinical benefit was calculated using a clinical decision curve. Patients with iNOA had a lower sperm retrieval rate than those with known causes. Moreover, testicular volume was an independent factor affecting sperm extraction outcomes (odds ratio = 0.79, P < 0.05). The testicular volume cut-off value was 6.5 ml (area under the curve: 0.694). The patients with iNOA were categorized into two groups on the basis of the distribution of seminiferous tubules observed. The sperm retrieval rate and testicular volume were significantly different between the groups with a uniform or heterogeneous tubule distribution. There was also a significant association between a uniform tubule distribution and testicular volume. In conclusion, a testicular volume of more than 6.5 ml effectively predicts microsurgical testicular sperm extraction failure due to a uniform tubule distribution in patients with iNOA.

Although microsurgical vasoepididymostomy (MVE) is an effective treatment for epididymal obstructive azoospermia, some patients may experience delayed patency or suboptimal semen parameters after patency. However, research into patency time, semen quality postpatency, and associated influencing factors remains limited. This study aimed to address these issues by evaluating 181 patients who underwent at least one-sided MVE employing asingle-armed longitudinal intussusception vasoepididymostomy technique, with a follow-up period of over 12 months for 150 patients. The overall patency rate was 75.3%, with 86.0% of patients achieving patency within 6 months following MVE. Unexpectedly, factors such as age, history of epididymitis, duration of surgery, side of anastomosis, sperm motility in epididymal fluid, and the site of anastomosis showed no correlation with patency time. Nonetheless, our univariate and multivariate linear regression analysis indicated that only the site of anastomosis was positively correlated with and could independently predict postoperative total motile sperm count. Therefore, the site of anastomosis might serve as a predictor for optimal postoperative semen quality following the MVE procedure.

The cause of asthenozoospermia (AZS) is not well understood because of its complexity and heterogeneity. Although some gene mutations have been identified as contributing factors, they are only responsible for a small number of cases. Radial spokes (RSs) are critical for adenosine triphosphate-driven flagellar beating and axoneme stability, which is essential for flagellum motility. In this study, we found novel compound heterozygous mutations in leucine-rich repeat-containing protein 23 (LRRC23; c.1018C>T: p.Q340X and c.881_897 Del: p.R295Gfs*32) in a proband from a nonconsanguineous family with AZS and male infertility. Diff-Quik staining and scanning electron microscopy revealed no abnormal sperm morphology. Western blotting and immunofluorescence staining showed that these mutations suppressed LRRC23 expression in sperm flagella. Additionally, transmission electron microscopy showed the absence of RS3 in sperm flagella, which disrupts stability of the radial spoke complex and impairs motility. Following in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer, the proband’s spouse achieved successful pregnancy and delivered a healthy baby. In conclusion, our study indicates that two novel mutations in LRRC23 are associated with AZS, but successful fertility outcomes can be achieved by in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer techniques.

Microdissection testicular sperm extraction (mTESE) is commonly performed to retrieve sperm in the testes for assisted reproductive techniques in patients with idiopathic nonobstructive azoospermia (iNOA). However, the success rate of sperm retrieval varies among individuals. We aim to investigate the association between clinical parameters and sperm retrieval outcomes in patients with iNOA. We searched PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science from database inception to August 2, 2023. The main measure was whether sperm retrieval was successful in patients with iNOA who underwent mTESE. Pooled estimates of the sperm retrieval rate and weighted mean differences were calculated using random-effects models. The overall sperm retrieval rate was 36.8% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 27.5%–46.0%, I2 = 95.0%) in nine studies comprising 1892 patients with iNOA. No significant differences were found in age, testicular volume, serum total testosterone concentrations, or inhibin B concentrations between positive and negative sperm retrieval outcomes. Lower anti-Müllerian hormone concentrations in patients with iNOA were associated with a positive outcome of mTESE (weighted mean differences: −2.70; 95% CI: −3.94–−1.46, I2 = 79.0%). In conclusion, this study shows a significant relationship between anti-Müllerian hormone and sperm retrieval outcomes in patients with iNOA, while age, testicular volume, total testosterone, and inhibin B show no significant association. These findings have important implications for assessing the potential success of sperm retrieval and selecting appropriate treatment strategies in patients with iNOA.

Coffee is one of the world’s most widely enjoyed beverages and is sold by numerous global coffee brands; however, few studies have investigated how brand information affects the perceived tastes of consumers. This study employed three testing methods and subjective scoring to evaluate perceived coffee tastes associated with two popular coffee brands in Taiwan. Thirty young men and thirty young women were asked to drink Starbucks and 7-Eleven Americanos and then report their perceived preference levels under three method-related conditions (i.e., blind test [BT], correct brand information [CI], and incorrect brand information [II]). The analysis of variance results revealed that all the main variables’ effects on taste scores were nonsignificant and that the gender and brand variables interactively and individually affected the scores with the employed method. The overall taste score of the men was significantly higher than that of the women under the BT condition. Under the CI condition, women had a significantly higher preference for Starbucks Americano than for 7-Eleven Americano; this result was reversed under the BT condition. These findings suggest that the perceived taste of the female participants was influenced by the assimilation effect of coffee brands; however, this phenomenon was not observed in the male participants. This outcome can be attributed to the more sensitive taste of women relative to men. These insights are valuable for understanding the behavior of coffee consumers and for crafting effective service strategies tailored to coffee brand operators.

BackgroundThe COVID-19 pandemic significantly increased the levels of burnout and symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress among healthcare professionals. However, research on the interrelations between burnout and psychological symptoms is scarce, particularly among psychiatrists. This study addresses this gap in a national sample.MethodData was collected via an online survey conducted in Mainland China from January to March 2021 with a sample size of 3,783 participants. Psychological symptoms were assessed using the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21), and physician burnout was assessed using the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Service Survey (MBIHSS). Network analysis was used to examine the interconnection between physician burnout and psychological symptoms, with further analysis conducted on multiple levels, including individual symptoms in central positions or acting as bridges between clusters, and identifying core symptom combinations with significant correlations.ResultsStress emerged as the highest Expected Influence (EI) index, with emotional exhaustion in the burnout cluster being the singular bridge symptom. Furthermore, depressive symptoms such as hopelessness and anhedonia showed a strong and the most straightforward association with emotional exhaustion, while stress-related overreaction was closely associated with depersonalization.ConclusionNetwork analysis between burnout and psychological symptoms identified critical symptoms like stress and emotional exhaustion in Chinese psychiatrists. Close monitoring of these symptoms may be crucial for mitigating the risk of common psychological disturbances and preventing their exacerbation in this population.

Abstract Osteosarcoma is an aggressive form of bone cancer and affects the health in children and adolescents. Although conventional treatment improves the osteosarcoma survival, some patients have metastasis and drug resistance, leading to a worse prognosis. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the molecular mechanism of osteosarcoma occurrence and progression, which could discover the novel treatment for osteosarcoma. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been reported to regulate osteosarcoma occurrence and malignant progression. LncRNA HOXA-AS3 facilitates the tumorigenesis and progression in a variety of human cancers. However, the underlying mechanism of lncRNA HOXA-AS3-induced oncogenesis is poorly determined in osteosarcoma. To address this point, we utilized several cellular biological strategies and molecular approaches to explore the biological functions and mechanisms of lncRNA HOXA-AS3 in osteosarcoma cells. We found that lncRNA HOXA-AS3 facilitates cell proliferation and invasion via targeting miR-218-5p/FOXP1 axis in osteosarcoma. In conclusion, lncRNA HOXA-AS3 could be a promising target for osteosarcoma treatment.

Introduction Healthcare workers are integral to public smoking cessation; however, their own smoking behavior can create a significant obstacle to intervening in patients' cessation efforts. Conversely, their success in quitting can enhance their ability to support patients. Research on smoking behavior, particularly smoking cessation among Chinese psychiatric professionals is limited. This study addresses this gap by examining the factors associated with smoking cessation in this population, providing insights for targeted tobacco control policies. Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted, targeting psychiatric professionals including psychiatrists and psychiatric nurses, in 41 tertiary psychiatric hospitals in China. From January to March 2021, a WeChat-based questionnaire was distributed to collect demographic, occupational, and health-behaviors (including smoking) data. Statistical analyses, including the chi-squared test and adjusted binary logistic regression analysis, were conducted to identify the factors associated with smoking cessation. Results Among the 12762 psychiatric professionals who participated in the survey, 11104 (87.0%) were non-smokers, 1196 (9.4%) were current smokers, and 462 (3.6%) were ex-smokers. BackgroundDepression is a major global public health concern, with research indicating a correlation between personality traits and depression. This study aimed to explore the potential mediating roles of self-efficacy and walking in the relationship between personality traits and depression among Chinese residents.MethodsA cross-sectional questionnaire survey was conducted from July 10 to September 15, 2021, involving 11,031 Chinese residents across 23 provinces, 5 autonomous regions, and 4 municipalities Participants provided data on demographics, personality traits (using the Ten-Item Personality Inventory), self-efficacy (using the New General Self-Efficacy Scale), chronic disease self-management (using the Chronic Disease Self-Management Study Measures), and depression (using the Patient Health Questionnaire-9). After screening, data from 8,499 participants were analyzed. Sequential mediation models were employed, with the Big Five personality traits as predictors, depression as the outcome, and self-efficacy and walking as the mediators.ResultsExtraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and emotional stability were negatively correlated with depression, with self-efficacy and walking as positive mediators in these relationships. Conversely, openness was positively associated with depression, and the self-efficacy-walking chain did not mediate this relationship but rather masked the effect of openness on depression.ConclusionsOur findings suggest that self-efficacy and walking are significant mediators in the relationship between personality traits and depression, potentially mitigating the risk of depressive episodes.

BackgroundMental health symptoms such as anxiety, depression, stress, and burnout are common among healthcare workers. However, the interconnections among them remain under-explored. This study aimed to address the interrelationships among these symptoms in psychiatric nurses.MethodsWe conducted a nationwide survey in the early stage of the COVID-19 pandemic (January to March 2021) to investigate the interconnectedness of depression, anxiety, stress, and burnout among psychiatric nurses. Using network analysis, we identified central symptoms, important bridge symptoms, and the correlations among these central symptoms.ResultsOf the 9,224 psychiatric nurses (79.2% female) included in the statistical analyses, 27.6% reported clinically significant depression, 31.2% anxiety, 14.5% stress, and 23.8% burnout. Network analysis revealed that stress had the highest expected influence (EI) value (0.920) and the highest strength among all nodes. The node for depression scored the highest in both closeness and betweenness. Emotional exhaustion (EE) had the highest bridge expected influence (BEI) of 0.340, with the strongest intergroup association between EE and depression. No significant differences were found in gender or frontline work experience (all p > 0.05).ConclusionsBurnout, depression, anxiety, and stress are relatively common among psychiatric nurses in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. While anxiety was the most prevalent, stress emerged as the core symptom, and depression as an important bridging node. Interventions targeting the core symptoms and bridging nodes may improve the mental health of psychiatric nurses.

Introduction: This study investigates the role of hypoxia-related genes in the neuroprotective efficacy of Yang Xue oral liquid (YXKFY) in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and Parkinson’s disease (PD).Methods and results: Using differential expression and weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA), we identified 106 and 9 hypoxia-associated genes in AD and PD, respectively, that are implicated in the transcriptomic and proteomic profiles. An artificial intelligence-driven hypoxia signature (AIDHS), comprising 17 and 3 genes for AD and PD, was developed and validated across nine independent cohorts (n = 1713), integrating 10 machine learning algorithms and 113 algorithmic combinations. Significant associations were observed between AIDHS markers and immune cells in AD and PD, including naive CD4+ T cells, macrophages, and neutrophils. Interactions with miRNAs (hsa-miR-1, hsa-miR-124) and transcription factors (USF1) were also identified. Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data highlighted distinct expression patterns of AIDHS genes in various cell types, such as high expression of TGM2 in endothelial cells, PDGFRB in endothelial and mesenchymal cells, and SYK in microglia. YXKFY treatment was shown to repair cellular damage and decrease reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Notably, genes with previously dysfunctional expression, including FKBPL, TGM2, PPIL1, BLVRB, and PDGFRB, exhibited significant recovery after YXKFY treatment, associated with riboflavin and lysicamine.Conclusion: The above genes are suggested to be central to hypoxia and neuroinflammation responses in AD and PD, and are potential key mediators of YXKFY’s neuroprotective action.

Abstract To accelerate the pace in the field of photothermal therapy (PTT), it is urged to develop easily accessible photothermal agents (PTAs) showing high photothermal conversion efficiency (PCE). As a proof‐of‐concept, hereby a conventional strategy is presented to prepare donor–acceptor (D–A) structured PTAs through cycloaddition‐retroelectrocyclization (CA–RE) reaction, and the resultant PTAs give high PCE upon near‐infrared (NIR) irradiation. By joint experimental‐theoretical study, these PTAs exhibit prominent D–A structure with strong intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) characteristics and significantly twisting between D and A units which account for the high PCEs. Among them, the DMA‐TCNQ exhibits the strongest absorption in NIR range as well as the highest PCE of 91.3% upon irradiation by 760‐nm LED lamp (1.2 W cm−2). In vitro and in vivo experimental results revealed that DMA‐TCNQ exhibits low dark toxicity and high phototoxicity after IR irradiation along with nude mice tumor inhibition up to 81.0% through intravenous therapy. The findings demonstrate CA–RE reaction as a convenient approach to obtain twisted D–A structured PTAs for effective PTT and probably promote the progress of cancer therapies.

Abstract Background The mental health workforce sustainability in China suffers high rates of attrition and the intention to leave. Among current professionals, the intention to choose the same career is an interesting way to gauge their job satisfaction and other factors, and it may affect the career choices of younger generations. We aimed to survey the intention of psychiatrists and psychiatry residents to choose the same career if they could start over and to identify associated factors. Methods We conducted an anonymous survey of psychiatrists in 41 tertiary psychiatric hospitals in China. We collected demographic data, work-related information, the sense of professional identity, job satisfaction, and burnout (Maslach Burnout Inventory), and we specifically asked each participant whether they would choose to be a psychiatrist again if they could. Results Among 3,783 psychiatrists we surveyed, one-quarter responded that they would not choose to be a psychiatrist again if they had a choice, with less than half (47.2%) saying they would. Those who would not choose psychiatry again were more likely to have a negative (relative to positive) professional identity (OR = 7.47, P＜0.001, 95%CI: 4.587–12.164); experience job burnout (OR = 2.945, P＜0.001, 95%CI: 2.356–3.681); be dissatisfied with their job (OR = 2.739, P＜0.001, 95%CI: 2.102–3.569) and excessive regulation (OR = 1.819, P＜0.001, 95%CI: 1.487–2.226); have a heavy workload (OR = 1.749, P＜0.001, 95%CI: 1.423–2.149) or a lower income (OR = 1.748, P＜0.001, 95%CI: 1.415–2.161); be married (relative to single) (OR = 1.604, P = 0.004, 95%CI: 1.165–2.208); be dissatisfied with strained doctor-patient relationship (OR = 1.333, P = 0.005, 95%CI: 1.089–1.632); have more night shifts per month (OR = 1.055, P = 0.021, 95%CI: 1.008–1.104) or work longer hours per week (OR = 1.016, P = 0.001, 95%CI: 1.006–1.025). Conclusion Among psychiatrists in tertiary hospitals in China, those with a heavier workload, poor sense of professional identity, job dissatisfaction, and burnout were less likely to choose psychiatry again. Policymakers and hospital administrators need to take effective measures to improve psychiatrists’ sense of professional identity and increase their intention to stay.

Abstract Purpose To explore the efficacy of different approaches of seminal vesiculoscopy surgery and the predictive factors of good treatment outcome. Materials and Methods A retrospective analysis of 68 patients who underwent seminal vesiculoscopy for hematospermia in our hospital from January 2015 to January 2021. According to different surgical approaches, they were divided into three groups: natural ejaculatory ducts (method A, 45 cases), assisted transurethral resection/incision of ejaculatory ducts (method B, 14 cases), fenestration in prostatic utricle (method C, 9 cases). We analyzed the recurrence rate of the three surgical approaches and the predictive factors of treatment efficacy. Results The total recurrence rate after the seminal vesiculoscopy for hematospermia in this group was 32.35%. The postoperative recurrence rates of the three methods were 24.44% for method A, 50.00% for method B and 44.44% for method C, and there was no significant difference among the three methods (P > 0.05). The data of five predictors of 45 cases in method A group were included in the Univariate Logistic analysis, the results suggest that whether complicated with seminal tract stones/cysts was an effective predictor (OR 0.250, P = 0.022), which was still an effective predictor in the Multivariate Logistic analysis model (OR 0.244, P = 0.010). Conclusions The Transurethral seminal vesiculoscopy technique demonstrates a low postoperative recurrence rate in treating hematospermia. Among the various approaches, the intraoperative use of natural orifices through the ejaculatory duct exhibits the lowest recurrence rate. Additionally, seminal tract stones/cysts effectively predict favorable postoperative outcomes.

Background/Objectives: Despite the increasing prevalence of smartphone use while walking, few studies have comprehensively investigated head and neck posture in real-world settings. This study employed a single-blind observation of smartphone users walking in public areas of Taipei, Taiwan, to examine head and neck movements, with a particular focus on the effects of gender and hand-operation type. Methods: We conducted observations of 120 smartphone users (60 males and 60 females), recording neck flexion (NF), head flexion (HF), gaze angle (GA), and viewing distance (VD) in the sagittal plane during walking. The analysis included four combinations of gender and smartphone hand operation (one-handed and two-handed use). Results: Significant gender differences were found in NF (p < 0.001), GA (p < 0.01), and VD (p < 0.01), with males exhibiting greater NF, GA, and VD than females. HF was similar between genders, but males’ larger NF suggested a more pronounced forward head posture, potentially increasing neck and shoulder strain. Hand operations also significantly affected VD (p < 0.001). Most users displayed a GA exceeding 60°, possibly an involuntary adjustment for better visibility of the walking path, potentially increasing eyestrain. Conclusions: Previous studies have primarily simulated smartphone use while walking in controlled environments, such as on treadmills or in laboratories. In contrast, our single-blind field study highlights the real-world risks associated with smartphone use during walking, including neck and shoulder strain and eyestrain, with notable differences observed between genders.

While mindfulness has demonstrated extensive benefits across diverse populations, research on its integration as a formal course and its effects on subjective well-being (SWB), particularly among Taiwanese university students, remains limited. This pilot study examined changes in SWB among 85 Taiwanese university students (61 males, 24 females) following an 8-week Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Life (MBCT-L) course. Participants included 38 lower-grade (pre-internship) and 47 senior (post-internship) students. SWB was measured using the 29-item Oxford Happiness Questionnaire (OHQ), rated on a 6-point Likert scale, and administered before and after the intervention. Results revealed a significant increase in students’ overall SWB scores from 3.69 to 3.92 post-intervention. Although females initially exhibited higher baseline SWB compared to males, no significant sex differences were observed after the course. Score discrepancies between pre- and post-test stages varied across sex and internship status, indicating differential impacts of the MBCT-L course on distinct demographic groups. Additionally, this study validated the reliability of the short version of the OHQ (8 items) for use in similar research contexts. By conducting a formal MBCT-L course for Taiwanese university students, this study provides valuable empirical evidence, contributing to the cross-cultural understanding of mindfulness-based interventions and their effects on SWB.

Previous studies examining the flexion–relaxation phenomenon (FRP) in back muscles through trunk forward flexion tests have yielded inconsistent findings, primarily due to variations in leg posture control. This study aimed to explore the influence of leg posture control and individual flexibility on FRP in back and low limb muscles. Thirty-two male participants, evenly distributed into high- and low-flexibility groups, were recruited. Activities of the erector spinae, biceps femoris, and gastrocnemius muscles, alongside the lumbosacral angle (LSA), were recorded as participants executed trunk flexion from 0° to 90° in 15° increments, enabling an analysis of FRP and its correlation with the investigated variables. The findings highlighted significant effects of all examined factors on the measured responses. At a trunk flexion angle of 60°, the influence of leg posture and flexibility on erector spinae activities was particularly pronounced. Participants with limited flexibility exhibited the most prominent FRP under constrained leg posture, while those with greater flexibility and unconstrained leg posture displayed the least FRP, indicated by their relatively larger LSAs. Under constrained leg posture conditions, participants experienced an approximate 1/3 to 1/2 increase in gastrocnemius activity throughout trunk flexion from 30° to 90°, while biceps femoris activity remained relatively constant. Using an inappropriate leg posture during back muscle FRP assessments can overestimate FRP. These findings offer guidance for designing future FRP research protocols.

ObjectivesTo study the socio-demographic characteristics and the prevalence of depression, anxiety, and stress among clinical therapists in China during the early Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and to identify associated factors.MethodThis cross-sectional study was part of a multicenter, nationally representative survey conducted through WeChat from January 2021 to March 2021. Data, including socio-demographics, health-related behaviors, and information on whether they participated in the frontline work of treating COVID-19, were collected anonymously. Respondents also completed the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales-21 (DASS-21).ResultsIn total, 396 clinical therapists in the selected hospitals completed the questionnaires, with a response rate of 89.0%. Respondents were predominantly female (77.3%). About 6.6% of the participants were current tobacco users, and 20.7% had participated in the frontline work of treating COVID-19. Overall, 22.0%, 17.9%, and 8.8% of participants were classified as having clinically meaningful depression, anxiety, and stress, respectively, based on DASS-21 scores. Multiple logistic regression in Model 1 and Model 2 showed that depression, anxiety, and stress were associated with regular physical activity and frequent insomnia (all, p < 0.05). In anxiety model 2, the associated factors for anxiety during the pandemic were identified as education (master’s degree or more, OR=0.520; 95% CI=0.283-0.955), marital status (single, OR=2.064; 95% CI=1.022-4.168), tobacco use (OR=4.265; 95% CI=1.352-13.454), regular physical activity (OR=0.357; 95% CI=0.192-0.663), frequent insomnia (OR=6.298; 95% CI =2.522-15.729), and participation in the frontline work of treating COVID-19 (OR=3.179; 95% CI=1.697-5.954). The COVID-19 epidemic did not significantly increase the depression and stress levels among clinical therapists, but it did significantly increase anxiety levels.ConclusionDuring the COVID-19 pandemic, depression, anxiety and stress were relatively common among clinical therapists in China. Regular physical activity and good sleep were important protective factors against emotional problems. Therefore, encouraging regular physical activity and actively addressing clinical therapists’ sleep problems is beneficial to improving the ability to cope with negative emotions. The COVID-19 epidemic significantly increased anxiety, and awareness and interventions should be recommended to reduce anxiety among clinical therapists during the COVID-19 pandemic.

ObjectiveWe aimed to investigate the characteristics and psychological mechanism of non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) in adolescents with mood disorders. We examined how self-compassion and emotional regulation affected NSSI and tested the mediating role of self-compassion in the link between emotional regulation and NSSI.MethodWe recruited outpatient and inpatient adolescent patients with bipolar and related disorders or depressive disorders (DSM-5), with a focus on NSSI. We also recruited healthy controls from the community. We collected demographic and clinical data. The Adolescent Self-injury Questionnaire, Self-compassion Scale (SCS), and Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) were used to assess the frequency and severity of NSSI, level of self-compassion, and emotional regulation.ResultsIn total, we recruited 248 adolescent patients with mood disorders (N = 196 with NSSI, and 52 without NSSI) and 212 healthy controls. NSSI was significantly associated with the female sex, lower levels of education and less use of cognitive reappraisal strategies, lower levels of self-warmth, and higher levels of self-coldness. Multivariate analysis of variance showed that there were significant differences in the scores of ERQ, cognitive reassessment score, and the scores of SCS among the three groups, but no statistical differences in expressive suppression score among the three groups. Self-warmth had a mediating effect between cognitive reappraisal and NSSI behavior.ConclusionNSSI is prevalent among adolescent patients with mood disorders in clinical settings, especially among girls and those with lower levels of education and less cognitive reappraisal strategies. More clinical attention is needed. Self-compassion and its factors may mediate the association between emotional regulation and NSSI. Clinical implications and future research directions were discussed.

Abstract The association between coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccine acceptance and perceived stigma of having a mental illness is not clear. This study examined the association between COVID-19 vaccine acceptance and perceived stigma among patients with recurrent depressive disorder (depression hereafter) using network analysis. Participants were 1149 depressed patients (842 men, 307 women) who completed survey measures of perceived stigma and COVID-19 vaccine attitudes. T-tests, chi-square tests, and Kruskal–Wallis tests were used to compare differences in demographic and clinical characteristics between depressed patients who indented to accepted vaccines and those who were hesitant. Hierarchical multiple regression analyses assessed the unique association between COVID-19 vaccine acceptance and perceived stigma, independent of depression severity. Network analysis examined item-level relations between COVID-19 vaccine acceptance and perceived stigma after controlling for depressive symptoms. Altogether, 617 depressed patients (53.7%, 95 confidence intervals (CI) %: 50.82–56.58%) reported they would accept future COVID-19 vaccination.
