Interoception, the sense of the physiological condition of our body, is impaired in individuals with autism spectrum disorders. Evidence suggests that subclinical autistic traits are mild manifestations of autistic symptoms, present in the general population. We examined the resting-state functional connectivity (rsFC) associating with interoception and autistic traits in 62 healthy young adults. Autistic traits correlated negatively with the rsFC between the lateral ventral anterior insula and anterior cingulate cortex. Interoceptive accuracy and sensibility correlated positively with the rsFC between interoceptive brain networks and the cerebellum, supplementary motor area, and visual regions. The results suggest that a negative relationship between interoception and autistic traits is largely accounted for by both self-report measures and decreased rsFC amongst the interoceptive brain network.

Background: Investigating emotion sequence patterns in the posts of discussion forums in massive open online courses (MOOCs) holds a vital role in shaping online interactions and impacting learning achievement. While the majority of research focuses on the relationship between emotions and interactions in MOOC forum discussions, research on identifying the crucial difference in emotion sequence patterns among different interaction groups remains in its infancy. Objectives: This research utilizes deep learning and sequential pattern mining to investigate whether there are differences in emotion sequence patterns across different groups of learners who exhibit various types of interactions in online discussion forums. Methods: Data from a comprehensive array of sources, including log files, discussion texts and scores from 498 learners in online discussion forums, were collected for this study. The agglomerative hierarchical algorithm is used to classify learners into groups with different levels of interactions. Additionally, we implement and evaluate multiple deep learning models for detecting different emotions from online discussions. Relevant emotion sequence patterns were identified using sequence pattern analysis and the identified emotion sequence patterns were compared across different groups with different levels of interactions. Results and Conclusions: Using an agglomerative hierarchical algorithm, we classified learners into three distinct groups characterized by different levels of interactions: high, average and low level. Leveraging the bi-directional long short-term memory model for emotion detection yielded the highest predictive performance, with an impressive F-measure of 94.01%, a recall rate of 93.83% and an accuracy score of 95.01%. The results also revealed that learners in the low-level interaction group experienced more emotion transition from boredom to frustration than the other two groups. Therefore, the aggregation of students into groups and the utilization of their MOOC log data offer educators the capability to provide adaptive emotional feedback, customize assessments and offer more personalized attention as needed.

Abstract Using 7.33 fb −1 of e + e − collision data samples collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226 GeV, we search for the radiative decay D s + → γρ 770 + $$ {D}_s^{+}\to \gamma \rho {(770)}^{+} $$ for the first time. A hint of D s + → γρ 770 + $$ {D}_s^{+}\to \gamma \rho {(770)}^{+} $$ is observed with a statistical significance of 2.5σ. The branching fraction of D s + → γρ 770 + $$ {D}_s^{+}\to \gamma \rho {(770)}^{+} $$ is measured to be (2.2 ± 0.9stat. ± 0.2syst. ) × 10 −4, corresponding to an upper limit of 6.1 × 10 −4 at the 90% confidence level.

Abstract Background The Hengduan Mountains, one of the global biodiversity hotspots with exceptional species richness and high endemism, contains numerous arid valleys that create a distinctive geographical and ecological landscape. However, the adaptive evolutionary mechanisms of organism in the arid valley remain poorly understood. Minois aurata, an endemic butterfly species found exclusively in the arid valley of the upper Minjiang River, represents an attractive model system for studying adaptive evolutionary mechanisms to arid valley environments. Results Here, we present the first chromosome-level genome assembly for Minois aurata, with a total size of approximately 609.17 Mb, and a scaffold N50 size of 23.88 Mb. These scaffolds were further clustered and anchored onto 29 chromosomes based on Hi-C data. A total of 16,163 protein-coding genes were predicted, of which 91.83% were functionally annotated. The expansion of transposable elements (TEs) accounts for the relatively large genome size of M. aurata, potentially aiding its adaptation to environmental conditions. Phylogenomic analyses based on 3,785 single-copy genes revealed that M. aurata is most closely related to Hipparchia semele. Further mitochondrial genome analysis of four Minois species placed M. aurata in a basal position within the genus, supporting it as an independent species. A total of 185 rapidly evolving and 232 specific gene families were identified in M. aurata. Functional enrichment analysis indicated that these gene families were mainly associated with ultraviolet radiation, heat and hypoxia responses. We also identified 234 positive selected genes in M. aurata, some of which are related to compound eye photoreceptor development, osmotic stress, and light stimulus response. Demographic analysis indicated that the effective population size of M. aurata decreased around 0.4 and 0.04 million years ago, respectively, coinciding with the localized sub-glaciation. Conclusion The chromosome-level genome offers a comprehensive genomic basis for understanding the evolutionary and adaptive strategies of Minois aurata in the unique arid valley environment of the Hengduan Mountains, while also providing valuable insights into the broader mechanisms of organism adaptation to such habitats.

Abstract Background Timely identification of deteriorating patients is crucial to prevent the progression to cardiac arrest. However, current methods predicting emergency department cardiac arrest are primarily static, rule-based with limited precision and cannot accommodate time-series data. Deep learning has the potential to continuously update data and provide more precise predictions throughout the emergency department stay. Methods We developed and internally validated a deep learning-based scoring system, the Deep EDICAS for early prediction of cardiac arrest and a subset of arrest, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), in the emergency department. Our proposed model effectively integrates tabular and time series data to enhance predictive accuracy. To address data imbalance and bolster early prediction capabilities, we implemented data augmentation techniques. Results Our system achieved an AUPRC of 0.5178 and an AUROC of 0.9388 on on data from the National Taiwan University Hospital. For early prediction, our system achieved an AUPRC of 0.2798 and an AUROC of 0.9046, demonstrating superiority over other early warning scores. Moerover, Deep EDICAS offers interpretability through feature importance analysis. Conclusion Our study demonstrates the effectiveness of deep learning in predicting cardiac arrest in emergency department. Despite the higher clinical value associated with detecting patients requiring CPR, there is a scarcity of literature utilizing deep learning in CPR detection tasks. Therefore, this study embarks on an initial exploration into the task of CPR detection.

Abstract The objective of this study is to utilize optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) techniques for the purpose of identifying abnormalities in retinal and conjunctival vascular density among patients afflicted with renal hypertension. From October 2022 to October 2023, a cohort of sixteen patients diagnosed with renal hypertension (RH), comprising a total of 32 eyes, was selected from the Department of Nephrology at the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University. Concurrently, a group of sixteen healthy individuals, carefully matched in characteristics, was recruited from volunteers at the Ophthalmology Research Center and designated as the healthy controls (HCs) group. Optical coherence tomography angiography was employed to assess and examine the superficial vascular plexus (SVP) and deep vascular plexus (DVP) of the macular retina in both eyes. Subsequently, a comparative analysis was conducted between the two groups, focusing on the superficial and deep retinal microvessels (MIR), macrovascular (MAR), and total microvascular (TMI). Abstract Reports on the application of metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) in adult patients with severe pneumonia after cardiac surgery remain limited. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes of mNGS analysis of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) in such patients.A retrospective cohort study was conducted on adult patients with severe pneumonia after cardiac surgery. Samples were collected from patients in the surgical intensive care unit (SICU) of Sichuan Provincial People’s Hospital between January 2019 and March 2024. Upon diagnosis of severe pneumonia, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid was obtained via bronchoscopy within 24 h. The mNGS group was composed of patients tested using mNGS and conventional microbiological tests. BALF was detected only by the conventional microbiological test (CMT) method in the CMT group, which involved examining bacterial and fungal smears and cultures at least. Abstract This study aimed to assess the influence of ulinastatin (UTI) on lymphocyte apoptosis and autophagy in sepsis patients, as well as its effect on inflammatory factors and vital organ function, with the goal of providing insights for improved clinical management of sepsis. A total of 40 sepsis patients were randomly assigned to the UTI group or the control group. The UTI group received standard treatment plus intravenous UTI, while the control group received standard treatment alone. Peripheral blood samples were collected at multiple time points for analysis of lymphocyte apoptosis, autophagy, inflammatory markers, and organ function. Various experimental techniques including Hoechst staining, transmission electron microscopy, and Western blot analysis were utilized to assess lymphocyte apoptosis, autophagy, and related protein expression levels. The study revealed that UTI treatment significantly inhibited lymphocyte apoptosis and promoted autophagy in sepsis patients. The levels of autophagy-related proteins LC3-II and Beclin-1 were substantially elevated, while the ratio of anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 to pro-apoptotic Bax was increased following UTI treatment. Furthermore, the levels of inflammatory markers IL-6, procalcitonin, and C-reactive protein were markedly reduced in the UTI group compared to the control group. Additionally, UTI treatment led to improved liver, kidney and cardiac function as evidenced by reduced levels of liver enzymes and creatinine, and cardiac enzymes. The findings of this study demonstrate that UTI exerts a protective effect on septic patients by inhibiting lymphocyte apoptosis, promoting autophagy, and attenuating systemic inflammation. Moreover, UTI treatment was associated with improved liver, kidney, and cardiac function in septic patients. These results contribute to a better understanding of the clinical management of sepsis and underscore the potential of UTI as a therapeutic intervention in septic patients.

Abstract Background Absent in melanoma 2 (AIM2) inflammasome-dependent pyroptosis and neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) have been implicated in chronic liver disease (CLD). However, the specific intrahepatic cell type that undergoes AIM2 inflammasome-dependent pyroptosis and how their interaction augments hepatic inflammation/fibrosis remains unclear. Methods The expression and correlation of AIM2 inflammasome-dependent pyroptosis-related indicators and NETs were analyzed in biopsy tissue and blood specimens from chronic hepatitis patients (CHs). Cell-based experiments were conducted to investigate their interaction. In vitro and in vivo experiments were used to analyze their effects on the progression of hepatic inflammation/fibrosis as well as their clinical importance. Results Elevated levels of AIM2 inflammasome-dependent pyroptosis indicators and NETs were detected in biopsy tissue and blood specimens. Circulating NETs were positively correlated with pyroptosis-related indicators, and both were related with disease severity. Confocal imaging revealed that AIM2 was mainly localized to hepatic macrophages, indicating that hepatic macrophages were the major cell type that underwent pyroptosis. NETs were directly engulfed by macrophages and then stimulated AIM2 inflammasome-dependent macrophage pyroptosis in vitro, which amplified the activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) and increased collagen deposition. Administration of the NETs degradation agent DNase I or the AIM2 inflammasome activation inhibitor ODN A151 effectively alleviated chronic liver inflammation/fibrosis progression in vivo. Conclusions NETs-induced AIM2 inflammasome-dependent pyroptosis in macrophages facilitates liver inflammation/fibrosis progression. The identified NET–AIM2 inflammasome cascade could serve as a novel therapeutic target for hepatic inflammation/fibrosis progression.

Abstract The excavation of ivory and other artifacts from the Sanxingdui Ruins holds profound research significance in tracing of both the ancient Shu and Chinese civilizations. After being unearthed, a large quantity of ivory encountered issues such as dehydration, pulverization, and cracking, resulting from poor preservation conditions. To establish effective long-term conservation strategies for the excavated ivory, this paper takes the dentin of excavated ivory from the No.7 Sacrificial Pit (K7) at the Sanxingdui Ruins as the research object, focusing on the primary correlation between its microscopic porous structure and moisture states. The results show that the organic collagen protein component of the excavated ivory has already undergone basically diagenetic degradation. The remaining main mineral phases are hydroxyapatite and carbonated hydroxyapatite, exhibiting a mixed crystal structure with mainly needle-like and secondary lamellar. The porosity of the excavated ivory, as measured by dry and wet methods, is approximately 62 and 60%, respectively. The pore size distributions are primarily concentrated in the ranges of 5–100 nm for the dry method and 10–200 nm for the wet method. These diverse and heterogeneous pore structures store approximately 35–38% of water as free water and adsorbed water. Free water is primarily found in dentinal tubules, interlayer gaps and cracks, providing volume support and stabilizing equilibrium with the external environment. Abstract Background Previous studies have demonstrated that asthma is closely associated with bronchiectasis, however, the causal relationship between asthma and bronchiectasis has not been investigated in depth. Therefore, this study aims to explore the causal relationship and to identify potential factors that mediate between these two diseases. Method All the necessary summarized information were obtained from publicly available genome-wide association study (GWAS). Two-sample Mendelian randomization (two-sample MR) was employed to explore the causal relationship between asthma and bronchiectasis, with an additional dataset used for validation. Heterogeneity and pleiotropy analyses were utilized to verify the robustness of the results. Subsequently, mediation MR analyses were performed to identify potential mediating factors. Lastly, a retrospective observational study was conducted to validate the findings. Result Preliminary inverse-variance weighted (IVW) results indicated there was a causal effect of asthma on bronchiectasis (odds ratio [OR] = 1.228, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.077–1.400, P = 0.002). Repetition validation yielded a consistent result. Mediation MR analysis demonstrated that the presence of nasal polyps (OR = 1.063, 95% CI: 1.015–1.113, mediation ratio = 30.492%, P = 0.009), acute sinusitis (OR = 1.062, 95% CI: 1.009–1.118, mediation ratio = 30.157%, P = 0.018), chronic sinusitis (OR = 1.085, 95% CI: 1.024–1.150, mediation ratio = 40.677%, P = 0.005), and peripheral eosinophil counts (OR = 1.013, 95% CI: 1.000–1.026, mediation ratio = 6.514%, P = 0.042) served as significant mediators in the occurrence and development of bronchiectasis induced by asthma. Abstract Background Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-targeted (HER2) therapy with antibody-drug conjugates has proven effective for patients with HER2-low breast cancer. However, intratumoral heterogeneity (ITH) poses a great challenge in identifying HER2-low tumors. ITH signatures were developed by quantifying ITH to differentiate HER2-positive, -low and -zero breast cancers. Methods This retrospective study included 614 patients from two institutions. The study was structured into two primary tasks: task 1 was to differentiate between HER2-positive and -negative tumors, followed by task 2 to differentiate HER2-low and -zero tumors. Whole-tumor radiomics features and habitat radiomics features were extracted from MRI to construct the radiomics and ITH signatures. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was used to determine significant independent predictors. A combined model integrating significant clinicopathologic variables, radiomics signature, and ITH signature was developed for task (1) Subsequently, the better-performing model was established using the same approach for task (2) The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) was used to assess the performance of each model. Results Task 1 comprised 614 patients (training, n = 348; validation, n = 149; and test cohorts, n = 117). Task 2 encompassed 501 patients (training, n = 283; validation, n = 122; and test cohorts, n = 96). For task1, the ITH signature showed outstanding performance, achieving AUCs of 0.81, 0.81, and 0.81 in the training, validation and test cohorts, respectively. The combined model achieved improved performance, with AUCs of 0.83, 0.84 and 0.83 across the three cohorts, respectively. For task2, the ITH signature maintained superior performance, with AUCs of 0.94, 0.93 and 0.84 across the training, validation and test cohorts, respectively. Multivariable logistic regression analysis indicated that none of the clinicopathologic characteristics were retained as predictors associated with odds of HER2-low tumors. Conclusions Our study developed ITH signatures that quantified ITH using habitat-based MRI radiomics, achieving outstanding performance in differentiating HER2-postive and -negative tumors, and further differentiating HER2-low and -zero breast cancers.

As student bodies on college campuses in the United States (U.S.) continue to diversify, university counseling centers have begun to recognize the importance of hiring multilingual therapists and trainees to meet the needs of 66 million U.S. residents who speak languages other than English. The study used a qualitative approach to better understand the experiences of multilingual therapists and trainees working at university counseling centers in the U.S. Thirty-one participants (three men and 28 women; 27 senior staff and four trainees) completed an online survey with six open-ended questions. The following themes were identified: rewards and benefits of providing multilingual therapy, supervision experiences given, and organizational support provided to multilingual therapists. Senior staff participants also make suggestions for trainees who would like to practice multilingual therapy as well as support that agencies can offer to their multilingual therapists. Limitations, practical implications, and future research directions are discussed.

The authors of this study utilized data from the Community College Survey of Student Engagement to conduct a critical examination of perceptions of institutional support among transfer-seeking community college students in North Carolina. We adopted an intersectional quantitative approach by centering racial and ethnic identity, and examining the influence of other social and institutional identities, integration, and institutional conditions on support perceptions among Black/African American, Hispanic/Latine, and White students. Multiple regression models affirmed the importance of interaction with institutional agents via socioacademic integration and transfer advising across racial and ethnic identity groups, with some within-group differences in intersectionality of identities and significant institutional conditions. Findings suggest the need for additional research on structural barriers to transfer, use of asset-based frameworks to understand student experiences pre- and post-transfer, and implementation of student-centered advising as the foundation of organizational cultures that promote equitable transfer.

Abstract The processes h c → γP (P = η′, η, π 0) are studied with a sample of (27.12 ± 0.14) × 108 ψ(3686) events collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The decay h c → γη is observed for the first time with the significance of 9.0 σ, and the branching fraction is determined to be (3.77 ± 0.55 ± 0.13 ± 0.26) × 10 −4, while B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (h c → γη′) is measured to be (1.40 ± 0.11 ± 0.04 ± 0.10) × 10 −3, where the first uncertainties are statistical, the second systematic, and the third from the branching fraction of ψ(3686) → π 0 h c . The combination of these results allows for a precise determination of R h c = B h c → γη B h c → γ η ′ , $$ {R}_{h_c}=\frac{\mathcal{B}\left({h}_c\to {\pi}^0\gamma \eta \right)}{\mathcal{B}\left({h}_c\to {\pi}^0\gamma {\eta}^{\prime}\right)}, $$ which is calculated to be (27.0 ± 4.4 ± 1.0)%. The results are valuable for gaining a deeper understanding of η − η′ mixing, and its manifestation within quantum chromodynamics. No significant signal is found for the decay h c → γπ 0, and an upper limit is placed on its branching fraction of B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (h c → γπ 0) < 5.0 × 10 −5, at the 90% confidence level.

ObjectivesMalignant melanoma (MM) is a highly malignant skin tumor. Although research on non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) of MM has advanced swiftly in recent years, no specific bibliometric analyses have been conducted on this topic. The present study aims to summarize the knowledge graphs and frontier trends and to provide new perspectives and direction of collaboration for researchers.MethodResearch data on melanoma and ncRNA published from January 1, 2006 to October 9, 2023 were retrieved and extracted from Web of Science. R Studio (Version 4.3.1), Scimago Graphica (Version 1.0.36), VOSviewer version (1.6.19), and Citespace (6.2.4R) were used to analyze the publications, countries, journals, institutions, authors, keywords, references, and other relevant data and to build collaboration network graphs and co-occurrence network graphs accordingly.ResultsA total of 1,222 articles were retrieved, involving 4,894 authors, 385 journals, 43,220 references, 2413 keywords, and 1,651 institutions in 47 countries. The average annual growth rate in the number of articles was 25.02% from 2006 to 2023; among all the journals, Plos One had the highest number of publications and citations, which are 42 publications and 2,228 citations, respectively. Chinese researchers were the most prolific publishers in this field, having published a total of 657 articles, among which 42 were published by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, which was the most productive institution. In recent years, the most explored keywords included long non-coding RNAs, immunotherapy, and exosm. According to the timeline chart of reference co-citation, “functional role” has been the most explored hotspot since 2015, and human cancer is a newly emerged hotspot after 2021.ConclusionThrough a bibliometric analysis, this study included all publications on ncRNAs and melanoma that were published in English from 2006 to 2023 in Web of Science to analyze the trends in the number of publications, international research focuses, and the direction of collaboration. The results of this study may provide information on knowledge graph, frontier trends and identify research topics in melanoma. More current research proved that ncRNA plays a crucial role in the biological behavior of melanoma including proliferation, invasion, metastasis, drug resistance, etc. With the development of research on ncRNA and melanoma, ncRNA may great potential in development of early diagnosis, targeted therapy and efficacy evaluation in the future. The results of this study also provide new perspectives and research partners for researchers in this field.

PurposeThe present study aimed to explore the potential mediating role of negative physical sensation and experiential avoidance in the association between endurance exercise and exercise anxiety among university students.MethodIn this study, a questionnaire method was employed to conduct the Adolescent Athlete Non-Intellectual Factors Survey Scale on 1,200 college students. From this sample, 287 individuals with exercise anxiety were identified through an endurance exercise test and the Acceptance and Action Questionnaire (AAQ-II) subsequently administered as well as The Borg Rating of Perceived Exertion (RPE). Subsequently, statistical analyses including correlation, regression, and mediation were performed using SPSS26 as the analytical tool. Additionally, the bias-corrected nonparametric percentile Bootstrap method was used to test for the mediating effects and estimate the confidence intervals with 5,000 iterations, and the confidence interval (CI) was set at 95%. Finally, in AMOS24, a mediating construct was established by incorporating exercise anxiety as the dependent variable, endurance exercise behavior as the independent variable, and negative physical sensations and experiential avoidance as the mediating variables (R = 0.619, R2 = 0.384). PurposeThis study aims to optimize neoadjuvant radiotherapy target area for locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC) patients undergoing total neoadjuvant therapy (TNT) by examining local recurrence patterns.Methods and materialsWe retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of rectal cancer patients who undergone local recurrence after surgery. Recurrence sites were categorized and compared with initial diagnosis imaging, focusing on visible and suspicious lesions.ResultsOf the 126 patients who met our criteria, 186 lesions were analyzed. Within these, 75.40% of cases (95/126) and 83.33% of lesions (155/186) were located within the pelvic cavity. Conversely, 3.97% of cases (5/126) and 3.33% of lesions (6/186) occurred outside the pelvic cavity. Additionally, 20.63% of cases (26/126) and 13.44% of lesions (25/186) were found in both regions. Recurrences were predominantly observed in mesenteric regions (MR) (40.86%, 76/186) and presacral regions (PR) (32.26%, 60/186). In addition, 86.51% of patients (109/126) had recurrent lesions in HRA and the suspected lesions areas. Further analysis showed that initial CEA levels and adjuvant therapy types were identified as independent predictors for recurrence in MR/PR and initially suspected lesions. 86.51% of patients had recurrent lesions in HRA and the suspected lesions areasConclusionThe MR, PR, and areas of initial suspicious lesions are high-risk zones for post-surgical recurrence of LARC. Exploratory study of involved-field irradiation (IFI) can be carried out in the context of TNT in LARC.

Cultural dance fosters social cohesion, emotional well-being, creative thinking, and cultural identity by conveying cultural values and social meanings. However, systematic comparative research on cross-cultural and indigenous cultural dance education remains limited. This study, adopting a global perspective, examines the current applications, core issues, and educational strategies in this field. Through a systematic literature review and grounded theory approach, the research scrutinizes studies conducted from 2010 to 2024. The results show that intercultural research primarily focuses on multicultural exchange, cultural integration of immigrant groups, and cultural acceptance among socioeconomically disadvantaged populations, highlighting the influence of intercultural adaptability and globalization. In contrast, indigenous cultural research emphasizes local culture and educational systems, with a particular focus on local cultural identity and educational reform. While both types of research reach a consensus on the importance of cultural transmission, diversity in teaching strategies, and the critical role of educators, significant differences remain in cultural identity and the design of educational content. Future research could concentrate on virtual dance education, innovation in indigenous cultures, the exploration of dance education’s role in mental health, and the deep integration of artificial intelligence into dance pedagogy. Furthermore, consideration of the potential impact of globalization and technological advancement on cultural identity and educational models will foster theoretical innovation and practical development in dance education.

Neurogenesis has emerged as a promising therapeutic approach for central nervous system disorders. The role of neuronal mitochondria in neurogenesis is well-studied, however, recent evidence underscores the critical role of astrocytic mitochondrial function in regulating neurogenesis and the underlying mechanisms remain incompletely understood. This review highlights the regulatory effects of astrocyte mitochondria on neurogenesis, focusing on metabolic support, calcium homeostasis, and the secretion of neurotrophic factors. The effect of astrocytic mitochondrial dysfunction in the pathophysiology and treatment strategies of Alzheimer’s disease and depression is discussed. Greater attention is needed to investigate the mitochondrial autophagy, dynamics, biogenesis, and energy metabolism in neurogenesis. Targeting astrocyte mitochondria presents a potential therapeutic strategy for enhancing neural regeneration.

African swine fever (ASF) is a devastating disease that can kill almost all infected pigs, causing great damage to the pig industry and destabilizing the global economy. Here, we developed a specific assay that combined multiple cross-displacement amplification (MCDA) with a nanoparticle-based lateral flow biosensor (LFB) for early and rapid identification of the African swine fever virus (ASFV-MCDA-LFB). We first designed a set of MCDA primers to recognize 10 different regions of the target ASFV B646L gene. Subsequently, the MCDA reaction was monitored with various methods: MG chromogenic reagents, agarose gel electrophoresis, real-time turbidity, and LFB. The ASFV-MCDA-LFB assay was optimized and evaluated with target nucleic acid templates extracted from various pathogens and simulated whole blood samples. As a result, the detection of limit (LOD) of the ASFV assay was 200 copies/reaction within 30 min, and no cross-reaction were observed with other non-ASFV viruses and common pathogens in this study. The evaluation assays demonstrated that the ASFV-MCDA-LFB method here is rapid, objective, easy-to-use, and low-cost detection method which can be used as a diagnostic or screening tool with competitive potential for point-of-care testing (POCT) of ASFV.

Real-time systems are reactive computer systems that must produce their reaction to a stimulus within given time bounds. A vital verification requirement is to estimate the Worst-Case Execution Time (WCET) of programs. These estimates are then used to predict the timing behavior of the overall system. The execution time of a program heavily depends on the underlying hardware, among which cache has the biggest influence. Analyzing cache behavior is very challenging due to the versatile cache features and complex execution environment. This article provides a survey on static cache analysis for real-time systems. We first present the challenges and static analysis techniques for independent programs with respect to different cache features. Then, the discussion is extended to cache analysis in complex execution environment, followed by a survey of existing tools based on static techniques for cache analysis. An outlook for future research is provided at last.
