Abstract Stroke, the second leading cause of mortality globally, predominantly results from ischemic conditions. Immediate attention and diagnosis, related to the characterization of brain lesions, play a crucial role in patient prognosis. Standard stroke protocols include an initial evaluation from a non-contrast CT to discriminate between hemorrhage and ischemia. However, non-contrast CTs lack sensitivity in detecting subtle ischemic changes in this phase. Alternatively, diffusion-weighted MRI studies provide enhanced capabilities, yet are constrained by limited availability and higher costs. Hence, we idealize new approaches that integrate ADC stroke lesion findings into CT, to enhance the analysis and accelerate stroke patient management. This study details a public challenge where scientists applied top computational strategies to delineate stroke lesions on CT scans, utilizing paired ADC information. Also, it constitutes the first effort to build a paired dataset with NCCT and ADC studies of acute ischemic stroke patients. Submitted algorithms were validated with respect to the references of two expert radiologists. The best achieved Dice score was 0.2 over a test study with 36 patient studies. Despite all the teams employing specialized deep learning tools, results reveal limitations of computational approaches to support the segmentation of small lesions with heterogeneous density.

Abstract Resistance to chemotherapy has been a major hurdle that limits therapeutic benefits for many types of cancer. Here we systematically identify genetic drivers underlying chemoresistance by performing 30 genome-scale CRISPR knockout screens for seven chemotherapeutic agents in multiple cancer cells. Chemoresistance genes vary between conditions primarily due to distinct genetic background and mechanism of action of drugs, manifesting heterogeneous and multiplexed routes towards chemoresistance. By focusing on oxaliplatin and irinotecan resistance in colorectal cancer, we unravel that evolutionarily distinct chemoresistance can share consensus vulnerabilities identified by 26 second-round CRISPR screens with druggable gene library. We further pinpoint PLK4 as a therapeutic target to overcome oxaliplatin resistance in various models via genetic ablation or pharmacological inhibition, highlighting a single-agent strategy to antagonize evolutionarily distinct chemoresistance. Our study not only provides resources and insights into the molecular basis of chemoresistance, but also proposes potential biomarkers and therapeutic strategies against such resistance.

Abstract Millirobots must have low cost, efficient locomotion, and the ability to track target trajectories precisely if they are to be widely deployed. With current materials and fabrication methods, achieving all of these features in one millirobot remains difficult. We develop a series of graphene-based helical millirobots by introducing asymmetric light pattern distortion to a laser-induced polymer-to-graphene conversion process; this distortion resulted in the spontaneous twisting and peeling off of graphene sheets from the polymer substrate. The lightweight nature of graphene in combine with the laser-induced porous microstructure provides a millirobot scaffold with a low density and high surface hydrophobicity. Magnetically driven nickel-coated graphene-based helical millirobots with rapid locomotion, excellent trajectory tracking, and precise drug delivery ability were fabricated from the scaffold. Importantly, such high-performance millirobots are fabricated at a speed of 77 scaffolds per second, demonstrating their potential in high-throughput and large-scale production. By using drug delivery for gastric cancer treatment as an example, we demonstrate the advantages of the graphene-based helical millirobots in terms of their long-distance locomotion and drug transport in a physiological environment. This study demonstrates the potential of the graphene-based helical millirobots to meet performance, versatility, scalability, and cost-effectiveness requirements simultaneously.

Objective: This study aimed to identify common therapeutic targets for well-differentiated and dedifferentiated retroperitoneal liposarcoma. Methods: Patient clinical data were obtained from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database, and survival differences were analyzed using the log-rank test. Gene expression data were sourced from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) dataset GSE159659, with differential gene expression analysis conducted through GEO2R. Protein-protein interaction networks were developed using STRING and Cytoscape to identify key hub genes. Gene Ontology (GO) and KEGG pathway enrichment analyses were performed using R, and transcription factors associated with the hub genes were predicted with TRRUST. Results: Significant survival differences were found between patients with well-differentiated and dedifferentiated retroperitoneal liposarcoma. Ninety-six differentially expressed genes with similar expression patterns were identified in both types. A protein-protein interaction network highlighted 12 hub genes and 24 transcription factors. Enrichment analysis pointed to the importance of lipid localization, storage, cytokine signaling, and metal ion absorption in both liposarcoma subtypes. Four potential therapeutic drugs were successfully predicted. Conclusion: This study identifies common molecular targets in well-differentiated and dedifferentiated retroperitoneal liposarcoma, providing new avenues for mechanistic studies and potential therapeutic development.

Aging encompasses a wide array of detrimental effects that compromise physiological functions, elevate the risk of chronic diseases, and impair cognitive abilities. However, the precise underlying mechanisms, particularly the involvement of specific molecular regulatory proteins in the aging process, remain insufficiently understood. Emerging evidence indicates that c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) serves as a potential regulator within the intricate molecular clock governing aging-related processes. JNK demonstrates the ability to diminish telomerase reverse transcriptase activity, elevate β-galactosidase activity, and induce telomere shortening, thereby contributing to immune system aging. Moreover, the circadian rhythm protein is implicated in JNK-mediated aging. Through this comprehensive review, we meticulously elucidate the intricate regulatory mechanisms orchestrated by JNK signaling in aging processes, offering unprecedented molecular insights with significant implications and highlighting potential therapeutic targets. We also explore the translational impact of targeting JNK signaling for interventions aimed at extending healthspan and promoting longevity.

Abstract Background noises are usually treated as redundant or even harmful to voice conversion. Therefore, when converting noisy speech, a pretrained module of speech separation is usually deployed to estimate clean speech prior to the conversion. However, this can lead to speech distortion due to the mismatch between the separation module and the conversion one. In this paper, a noise-robust voice conversion model is proposed, where a user can choose to retain or to remove the background sounds freely. Firstly, a speech separation module with a dual-decoder structure is proposed, where two decoders decode the denoised speech and the background sounds, respectively. A bridge module is used to capture the interactions between the denoised speech and the background sounds in parallel layers through information exchanging. Subsequently, a voice conversion module with multiple encoders to convert the estimated clean speech from the speech separation model. Finally, the speech separation and voice conversion module are jointly trained using a loss function combining cycle loss and mutual information loss, aiming to improve the decoupling efficacy among speech contents, pitch, and speaker identity. Experimental results show that the proposed model obtains significant improvements in both subjective and objective evaluation metrics compared with the existing baselines. The speech naturalness and speaker similarity of the converted speech are 3.47 and 3.43, respectively.

To tackle issues like unbalanced currents in stator windings and power pulsations under unbalanced grid voltage conditions, this paper introduces a passive control strategy for the Brushless Doubly-Fed Reluctance Generator (BDFRG). The approach effectively suppresses current distortions in the stator windings, as well as second harmonic pulsations in the active and reactive power. First, the positive and negative sequence equations of the BDFRG are established using the symmetric component method. Then, passive feedback controllers are designed for both positive and negative sequences by using the Euler-Lagrange (EL) model and the passivity theory. Finally, the given values of the positive and negative currents of the power winding and control winding are calculated to obtain the passive feedback controllers for the BDFRG under unbalanced grid voltages. Simulations and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) experiments are conducted to validate the correctness of the derived model and assess the effectiveness of the control strategy.

Prion–like domains (PrLDs), a unique type of low–complexity domain (LCD) or intrinsically disordered region (IDR), have been shown to mediate protein liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS). Recent research has increasingly focused on how prion–like proteins (PrLPs) regulate plant growth, development, and stress responses. This review provides a comprehensive overview of plant PrLPs. We analyze the structural features of PrLPs and the mechanisms by which PrLPs undergo LLPS. Through gene ontology (GO) analysis, we highlight the diverse molecular functions of PrLPs and explore how PrLPs influence plant development and stress responses via phase separation. Finally, we address unresolved questions about PrLP regulatory mechanisms, offering prospects for future research.

Abstract Objective This study was conducted to examine the association between the A118G polymorphism of the OPRM1 gene and the risk of increased VAS scores in patients with colorectal cancer who underwent laparoscopic radical resection for which fentanyl was used. Methods The OPRM1 A118G genotype in subjects were detected. The relationship between the A118G polymorphism of the OPRM1 gene and increased Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) scores throughout the perioperative period was explored. A total of 101 patients receiving fentanyl anesthesia undergoing laparoscopic radical resection of colon tumors at Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University between July 2018 and December 2020 were investigated in the present study. The relative risk between the A118G polymorphism of the OPRM1 gene and VAS ≥ 4 in the PACU was estimated using the adjusted effect relationship diagram, baseline characteristic analysis, and multiple logistic regression analysis. The relationship between the A118G polymorphism of the OPRM1 gene and VAS in the PACU, as well as perioperative fentanyl usage, was examined after confounders were adjusted. Results Subjects with OPRM1 A118G wild gene A were less sensitive to fentanyl, which was a risk factor for PACU VAS ≥ 4. Before the model was adjusted, the odds ratio (OR) was 14.73 (P = 0.001). After adjusting for age, sex, weight, height, and the duration of surgery, the OR increased to 16.55 (P = 0.001). When adjusting for age, sex, weight, height, surgery duration, COMT Val158Met gene polymorphism, CYP3A4 *1G gene polymorphism, and CYP3A5 *3gene polymorphism, the OR was 19.94 (P = 0.002). Moreover, OPRM1 A118G wild type gene A was found to be a risk factor for increased dosage of fentanyl in the PACU. Before the model was adjusted, the OR reached 16.90 (P = 0.0132). After adjusting for age, sex, body weight, intraoperative fentanyl dosage, surgery duration, and height, the OR was 13.81, (P = 0.0438). When adjusting for age, sex, weight, height, intraoperative fentanyl dosage, surgery duration, COMT Val158Met gene polymorphism, CYP3A4 *1G gene polymorphism, and CYP3A5 *3 gene polymorphism, the OR reached 15.23, (P = 0.0205). Conclusion The A118G polymorphism of the OPRM1 gene carrying wild gene A was a risk factor for VAS ≥ 4 in the PACU. Moreover, it is a risk factor for increased dosage of fentanyl in the PACU.

Abstract Memristor-based circuits offer low hardware costs and in-memory computing, but full-memristive circuit integration for different algorithm remains limited. Cellular automata (CA) has been noticed for its well-known parallel, bio-inspired, computational characteristics. Running CA on conventional chips suffers from low parallelism and high hardware costs. Establishing dedicated hardware for CA remains elusive. We propose a recirculated logic operation scheme (RLOS) using memristive hardware and 2D transistors for CA evolution, significantly reducing hardware complexity. RLOS’s versatility supports multiple CA algorithms on a single circuit, including elementary CA rules and more complex majority classification and edge detection algorithms. Results demonstrate up to a 79-fold reduction in hardware costs compared to FPGA-based approaches. RLOS-based reservoir computing is proposed for edge computing development, boasting the lowest hardware cost (6 components/per cell) among existing implementations. This work advances efficient, low-cost CA hardware and encourages edge computing hardware exploration.

The "Internet Plus" era has established a closer connection between sports and individuals. This study used data from the 2018 China Family Panel Studies and focused on the middle- and younger-aged population aged 15 to 59 years. Employing a negative binomial regression model, this study empirically analyzed the impact of Internet use on physical exercise and its internal mechanisms among this population. The findings revealed that (1) Internet use significantly promoted physical exercise in the middle- and younger-aged population, with the frequency of physical exercise increasing to 1.549 times the original value; (2) The positive effects of the internet on physical exercise outweighed the negative effects, with online learning and entertainment enhancing physical exercise and online socialization limiting it. Specifically, online learning and entertainment increased the frequency of physical exercise among the middle- and younger-aged population by 0.063 and 0.018, respectively. Online socialization reduced the frequency by 0.023; and (3) The influence of internet use on physical exercise varies; significantly, it positively affects the exercise frequency among individuals over 35 years old and shows a positive correlation with employment status, including both employed individuals and those out of the labor market. The positive role of Internet use in encouraging physical exercise participation among the middle- and young-aged groups should be valued and enhanced.

Background: High lipoprotein (a) [Lp(a)] is associated with adverse limb events in patients undergoing lower extremity revascularization. Lp(a) levels are genetically pre-determined, with LPA gene encoding for two apolipoprotein (a) [apo(a)] isoforms. Isoform size variations are driven by the number of kringle IV type 2 (KIV-2) repeats. Lp(a) levels are inversely correlated with isoform size. In this study, we examined the role of Lp(a) levels, apo(a) size, and inflammatory markers with lower extremity revascularization outcomes. Methods: Twenty-five subjects with chronic peripheral arterial disease (PAD) underwent open or endovascular lower extremity revascularization (mean age, 66.7 ± 9.7 years; Female = 12; Male = 13; Black = 8; Hispanic = 5; and White = 12). Pre- and postoperative medical history, self-reported symptoms, ankle-brachial indices (ABIs), and lower extremity duplex ultrasounds were obtained. Plasma Lp(a), apoB100, lipid panel, and pro-inflammatory markers (IL-6, IL-18, hs-CRP, TNFα) were assayed preoperatively. Isoform size was estimated using gel electrophoresis and weighted isoform size (wIS) calculated based on % isoform expression. Firth logistic regression was used to examine the relationship between Lp(a) levels and wIS with procedural outcomes: symptoms (better/worse), early primary patency at 2 to 4 weeks, ABIs, and reintervention within 3 to 6 months. We controlled for age, sex, history of diabetes, smoking, statin, antiplatelet, and anticoagulation use. Results: Median plasma Lp(a) level was 108 (interrquartile range, 44-301) nmol/L. The mean apoB100 level was 168.0 ± 65.8 mg/dL. These values were not statistically different among races. We found no association between Lp(a) levels and wIS with measured plasma pro-inflammatory markers. However, smaller apo(a) wIS was associated with occlusion of the treated lesion(s) in the postoperative period (odds ratio, 1.97; 95% confidence interval, 1.01-3.86; P < .05). The relationship of smaller apo(a) wIS with reintervention was not as strong (odds ratio, 1.57; 95% confidence interval, 0.96-2.56; P = .07). We observed no association between wIS with patient reported symptoms or change in ABIs. Conclusions: In this small study, subjects with smaller apo(a) isoform size undergoing peripheral arterial revascularization were more likely to experience occlusion in the postoperative period and/or require reintervention. Larger cohort studies identifying the mechanism and validating these preliminary data are needed to improve understanding of long-term peripheral vascular outcomes.

The lower the volatile value of coal, the higher the metamorphic degree of coal. As a vector, the spatial variation of the volatilization value of the coal seam be used to explore the location of concealed pluton and to characterize the maximum influence intensity of the magma thermal field. The eastern side of the Huyanshan intrusive pluton has amassed a large amount of C-P coal measurement and coal quality exploration data. The zonation distribution of coal seam volatile fraction data within the exploration area serves as an efficacious record of the intrusion process of the rock mass and a valuable resource for the exploration of the location of concealed plutons. Based on the data from 470 boreholes in the exploration area, contour maps of coal seams No. 02, No. 2, No. 6, No. 8, and No. 9; the true thickness contour maps of each coal layer; and the volatilizing profile map were created. The results indicate the following: (1) In the central region of the exploration area, from No. 9 to No. 8 to No. 6 to No. 2 to No. 02, the contours of volatiles in each coal seam exhibit a ring pattern, with the size of the ring and the size of the volatiles change regularly. This pattern strongly suggests that the concealed pluton is developed in the underlying layer of the coal seam. (2) According to the linear fitting of the relevant data, it is predicted that the concealed pluton is located at a depth of 65.4 m below the No. 9 coal seam. At a vertical distance of 159.1 m, the thermal field influence of the concealed pluton is lost, which aligns with the spatial distribution characteristics of volatiles in the coal seam as observed through drilling. (3) The occurrence of a significant interlayer slip between coal seam No. 6 and coal seam No. 2 in the overlying concealed pluton is indicated by the results of the hotspot migration analysis. The results are helpful to the search for magmatic-hydrothermal deposits and the exploration and development of coal and coalbed methane.

Ustilaginoidins are a class of bis-naphtho-γ-pyrone mycotoxins to threaten humans, animals and environment. Ustilaginoidins are produced by Villosiclava virens, the rice false smut pathogen. To prepare antibodies for quantitatively analyzing ustilaginoidins in rice samples, hemiustilaginoidins D and F from the laccase gene deficiency mutant of V. virens respectively reacted with diazonium 4-aminobenzoic acid to obtain haptens with a carboxyl group, which further reacted with bovine serum albumin or ovalbumin to get their complete antigens. Two monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) designated as 4A12C6 and 5F4F6 were developed by immunization. The relationships between mAb sensitivity and 20 ustilaginoidins were described. 4A12C6 was chosen for further analysis as it could recognize main ustilaginoidins and was more sensitive than 5F4F6. The achieved indirect competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (icELISA) based on 4A12C6 had a half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of 0.76 ng/mL and working range of 0.2–2.8 ng/mL to ustilaginoidin A. The results of ustilaginoidins-contaminated rice samples by icELISA detection were consistent with those determined by HPLC‒DAD detection. Therefore, we developed a new strategy to get haptens from the biosynthetic precursors with half structures of ustilaginoidins. The achieved icELISA was demonstrated as a convenient method to monitor ustilaginoidin content in rice samples, and showed that the contents of total ustilaginoidins from the rice cultivars with low resistance to rice false smut were more than those of high resistance cultivars.

In all living organisms, ferritins are a group of proteins important for maintaining iron homeostasis. Increasing amount of studies has shown that recombinant ferritins can be widely used in multimodal nanomedicine, especially for anticancer treatment and vaccination. Recombinant particles prepared by fusing viral proteins and ferritin subunits produce a better immune response and higher antibody titres. Moreover, actively-targeted ferritin nanoparticles can recognise receptors and deliver natural or chemical drugs specifically to the tumour tissue. In addition, ferritin-linked or loaded with contrast agents or fluorescent dyes can be used as multimodal particles useful cancer theranostics. In this review, we fully summarised the unitisation of recombinant ferritins in multimodal nanomedicine. The research progress of using recombinant ferritins as nanovaccines, nanozymes, and bioengineered nanocarriers for targeted therapy and bioimaging is emphasised.

Abstract This work reports new analytic free in-plane vibration solutions for orthotropic non-Lévy-type rectangular plates, i.e., those without two opposite edges simply supported, by the symplectic superposition method (SSM), which has never been applied to in-plane elasticity problems in any existing works. Such analytic solutions are not accessible through conventional analytic methods as seeking analytic solutions that meet both the governing partial differential equations and various non-Lévy-type boundary conditions is an acknowledged challenge in mechanical analysis of plates. The clamped and free plates are considered as two most representative cases of non-Lévy-type plates. The SSM is implemented in the Hamiltonian system-based symplectic space, where the separation of variables and the symplectic eigen expansion prove to be well-grounded. These two mathematical treatments are adopted to first gain the analytic solutions of two elementary problems. The final analytic free in-plane vibration solutions are obtained by superposition of the two elementary problems. Comprehensive new natural frequencies and vibration modes are studied and validated by reference solutions from the finite element method or other approaches. The rigorous solution procedure, fast convergence, and highly accurate results render the present framework capable of serving as benchmarks for future comparison and applicable to analytic investigation of more plate problems.

The Virtual Synchronous Generator (VSG) emulates the characteristics of a synchronous generator to provide inertia and damping for renewable energy systems. In the case of using the NPC three-level converter structure, traditional control methods require complex dual-loop control and internal PI parameter tuning. Furthermore, although fixed-parameter VSG control can provide inertia and damping when a significant power load is switched in an islanded microgrid, it cannot guarantee frequency regulation performance. To address these issues, this paper proposes an NPC three-level VSG parameter adaptive finite control set model predictive control strategy. This method eliminates the need for dual-loop control and PI parameter tuning. By incorporating angular velocity deviation and its rate of change into adaptive adjustment, a Tracking-Differentiator (TD) is designed to calculate the rate of change of angular velocity. This approach avoids frequent fluctuation of adaptive parameters during load power switching and improves the frequency stability of the microgrid. The effectiveness of the proposed strategy is validated through simulation and experimental verification.

Introduction: To make early predictions of PACU VAS before surgery, we created a novel nomogram for the early prediction of PACU VAS in patients having laparoscopic radical excision of colorectal cancer with fentanyl. Methods: From July 2018 to December 2020, a total of 101 patients in Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University who underwent laparoscopic radical resection of colorectal cancer were enrolled in this study. For feature selection, a stepwise regression model was utilized. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was used to establish a prediction model. We incorporated age, gender, weight, height, fentanyl dosage during operation, operation time, and OPRM1 genotype, and this was presented with a nomogram. The nomogram's performance was evaluated in terms of discrimination and clinical utility. Results: The signature, which comprised of seven carefully chosen characteristics, was linked to the PACU VAS for the development dataset. Predictors contained in the individualized prediction nomogram included age, gender, weight, height, fentanyl dosage during operation, operation time, and OPRM1 genotype. With an area under the ROC curve of 0.877 (95% CI, 0.6874–1.0000), the model showed good discrimination. The nomogram still had good discrimination. Decision curve analysis demonstrated that the nomogram was clinically useful. Conclusions: The nomogram presented in this study incorporates age, gender, weight, height, fentanyl dosage during operation, operation time, and OPRM1 genotype and can be conveniently used to facilitate the individualized prediction of PACU VAS in patients undergoing laparoscopic radical resection of colorectal cancer with fentanyl.

With the development of the blockchain technology, a decentralized and de-trusted network paradigm has been constructed, enabling multiple digital assets like NFT, to be permanently recorded and authenticated by blockchain. Also, the uniqueness and verifiability of these assets allows them to flow and generate value between any network entities. With the emergence of AI Generative Content (AIGC), the ownership of models and generative contents, which are also digital assets, has not been well protected. Both because the black-box nature of neural networks makes it difficult to mark models' ownership and because the lack of a reliable third-party verification platform. Meanwhile, the existing model-attack threat and raising ethical problems driven the research on model watermark embedding for traceability and verification, and thus the reliable basic algorithm and the verification platform are needed. In this survey, while emphasizing the importance and reason of the ownership protection in AIGC and summarizing the recent research using model watermarking, we will also introduce the achievements of blockchain in copyright in order to summarize the research history and point out future direction of model copyright validation from both the underlying technology and the supporting platform.

A transverse flux linear motor is a special type of linear motor with a high thrust force density, and it has broad application prospects in the field of linear direct-drive systems. In the process of oil production, the vibration of the linear motor poses a significant amount of harm to the system due to its special slender structure. This paper focuses on the electromagnetic vibration of a transverse flux permanent magnet linear submersible motor (TFPMLSM). Firstly, the no-load air gap flux density is calculated based on the field modulation principle. Secondly, the radial electromagnetic force (REF) of the TFPMLSM is calculated, and the finite element method (FEM) is used to analyze the time-space and spectral characteristics of the REF. Then, the influence of secondary eccentricity on the frequency spectrum of the REF is further concluded. Finally, the natural frequencies of each vibration mode are calculated using the modal superposition method and the influence of the REF on the motor vibration is obtained through magnetic-structural coupling analysis. The research results found that the motor does not cause resonance at low speeds, and the fundamental frequency of REF has the greatest impact on electromagnetic vibration.

Abstract Introduction Prior observational work in a heterogeneous cohort of participants with mild cognitive impairment suggests the Amsterdam Instrumental Activities of Daily Living Questionnaire (A‐IADL‐Q) may have greater sensitivity for functional decline than the more established Alzheimer's Disease Cooperative Study–Activities of Daily Living (ADCS‐ADL) scale. However, the relative utility of the A‐IADL‐Q versus the ADCS‐ADL for clinical trials in early Alzheimer's disease (AD) remains uncertain. Methods We compared baseline and longitudinal performance of the A‐IADL‐Q and ADCS‐ADL in participants with biomarker‐confirmed prodromal (pAD; n = 158) or mild (mAD; n = 283) AD enrolled in the 18‐month Tauriel study of semorinemab (NCT03289143). Results The A‐IADL‐Q exhibited numerically stronger discrimination between pAD and mAD participants at baseline per Cohen's d analyses and similar sensitivity to longitudinal decline across cohorts over 18 months relative to the ADCS‐ADL. Discussion The comparable performance of the ADCS‐ADL and A‐IADL‐Q supports the utility of the A‐IADL‐Q in early AD clinical trials. Highlights The Amsterdam Instrumental Activities of Daily Living Questionnaire (A‐IADL‐Q) may be more sensitive than the Alzheimer's Disease Cooperative Study–Activities of Daily Living Scale (ADCS‐ADL) for distinguishing prodromal and mild Alzheimer's disease (AD). A‐IADL‐Q and ADCS‐ADL are similarly sensitive to decline in early AD over 18 months. Comparable performance of these indices supports A‐IADL‐Q use in future AD trials. Additional AD clinical trial data could extend findings across more diverse cohorts.

Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) can deliver enhanced diagnosis for diabetic retinopathy (DR). This study evaluated a deep learning (DL) algorithm for automatic DR severity assessment using high-resolution and ultra-widefield (UWF) OCTA. Diabetic patients were examined with 6×6 mm2 high-resolution OCTA and 15×15 mm2 UWF-OCTA using PLEX®Elite 9000. A novel DL algorithm was trained for automatic DR severity inference using both OCTA acquisitions. The algorithm employed a unique hybrid fusion framework, integrating structural and flow information from both acquisitions. It was trained on data from 875 eyes of 444 patients. Tested on 53 patients (97 eyes), the algorithm achieved a good area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) for detecting DR (0.8868), moderate non-proliferative DR (0.8276), severe non-proliferative DR (0.8376), and proliferative/treated DR (0.9070). These results significantly outperformed detection with the 6×6 mm2 (AUC = 0.8462, 0.7793, 0.7889, and 0.8104, respectively) or 15×15 mm2 (AUC = 0.8251, 0.7745, 0.7967, and 0.8786, respectively) acquisitions alone. Thus, combining high-resolution and UWF-OCTA acquisitions holds the potential for improved early and late-stage DR detection, offering a foundation for enhancing DR management and a clear path for future works involving expanded datasets and integrating additional imaging modalities.

With the continuous development of web technology, Web3.0 has attracted a considerable amount of attention due to its unique decentralized characteristics. The digital economy is an important driver of high-quality economic development and is currently in a rapid development stage. In the digital economy scenario, the centralized nature of the Internet and other characteristics usually bring about security issues such as infringement and privacy leakage. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate how to use Web3.0 technologies to solve the pain points encountered in the development of the digital economy by fully exploring the critical technologies of digital economy and Web3.0. In this paper, we discuss the aspects of Web3.0 that should be integrated with the digital economy to better find the entry point to solve the problems by examining the latest advances of Web3.0 in machine learning, finance, and data management. We hope this research will inspire those who are involved in both academia and industry, and finally help to build a favourable ecology for the digital economy.

The outbreak of milky disease of Chinese mitten crab caused by M. bicuspidata seriously restricted the development of the crab industry. In this study, the mitochondrial genome sequence of M. bicuspidata was assembled, annotated, and further analyzed. The results indicated that the complete mitochondrial genome of M. bicuspidata was 75,095 bp, which contained two rRNAs, 23 tRNAs, and 13 protein-coding genes. The phylogenetic tree of 13 yeasts based on the complete mitochondrial genome was constructed which showed that M. bicuspidata (accession number OK514652) and M. bicuspidata (accession number MW147605.1) were clustered in a clade. To sum up, our research results would further provide essential data for the systematics and evolution study of M. bicuspidata.

ObjectiveTo investigate whether postoperative anion gap (AG) is associated with short- and long-term mortality in patients following cardiac surgery.Materials and methodsWe conducted a retrospective cohort study of adults who underwent cardiac surgery from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care - III database. The generalized additive model (GAM), logistic regression, and Cox regression were performed to assess the correlations between AG levels and in-hospital, 90-day, and 4-year mortality. Linear regression was used to evaluate the associations between AG and length of stay (LOS).ResultsTotally, 6,410 subjects were enrolled in this study and classified into tertiles based on the initial AG levels. The GAM indicated a positive association between initial AG and in-hospital mortality after adjusting for potential confounders. Multivariate logistic analysis revealed that the risk of in-hospital mortality was higher among patients in tertile 2 (OR 2.05, 95% CI 1.11–3.76, P = 0.021) and tertile 3 (OR 4.51, 95% CI 2.57–7.91, P < 0.001) compared with those in tertile 1. For 90-day and 4-year mortality, multivariate Cox regression found similar associations between AG tertiles and mortality. The LOS in ICU and hospital also increased as AG tertiles increased. The E-value indicated robustness to unmeasured confounders.ConclusionThis study found a positive association between postoperative AG levels and short- and long-term mortality among patients after cardiac surgery. This relationship warrants further research.

For bulk commodity, stock, and e-commerce platforms, it is necessary to detect anomalous behavior for the security of users and platforms. Anomaly-detection methods currently used on these platforms train a model for each user since different users have different habits. However, the model cannot be trained adequately due to insufficient individual user behavior data. In this study, to utilize information between users and avoid underfitting, we propose a contrastive learning framework to train a complete global model (GM) for anomaly detection in a trading platform. By confusing the data between different users to generate negative samples, the model can learn the differences between users by contrastive learning. To reduce the need for individual user behavior data, this framework uses a GM instead of a model for each user to learn similarities between users. Experiments on four datasets show that models trained using our framework achieve better area-under-the-curve (AUC) scores than do the original models, proving that contrastive learning and GM are useful for anomaly detection in trading platforms.

High-position geohazard chains are widely distributed along the Jiali fault zone, Tibet, China. They often induced severe flood disasters in the river basins of the Yigong Zangbu, Palong Zangbu, and the downstream of Yalu Zangbu, such as the famous Yigong, Guxiang, Jianmupuqu, and Midui high-position geohazard chains. Based on the field investigations and previously published data, these high-position geohazard chains are classified into 4 types: 1) high-position landslide-debris flow-dammed lake-flood, 2) high-position landslide-dammed lake-flood, 3) high-position debris flow-dammed lake-flood, 4) glacial lake outburst flood. The formation conditions of the high-position geohazard chains are analyzed from 4 aspects, that is 1) geological structures and earthquakes, 2) landscape and river system, 3) glacier, 4) meteorology. In the end, the main causes and development trends of these geohazard chains are discussed. We believe that the high-position geohazard chains would be more frequent along the Jiali fault zone, with the global warming and the enhancement of the human engineering activities.

Alzheimer’s disease (AD), the most common type of dementia, is characterized by senile plaques composed of amyloid β protein (Aβ) and neurofilament tangles derived from the hyperphosphorylation of tau protein. However, the developed medicines targeting Aβ and tau have not obtained ideal clinical efficacy, which raises a challenge to the hypothesis that AD is Aβ cascade-induced. A critical problem of AD pathogenesis is which endogenous factor induces Aβ aggregation and tau phosphorylation. Recently, age-associated endogenous formaldehyde has been suggested to be a direct trigger for Aβ- and tau-related pathology. Another key issue is whether or not AD drugs are successfully delivered to the damaged neurons. Both the blood–brain barrier (BBB) and extracellular space (ECS) are the barriers for drug delivery. Unexpectedly, Aβ-related SP deposition in ECS slows down or stops interstitial fluid drainage in AD, which is the direct reason for drug delivery failure. Here, we propose a new pathogenesis and perspectives on the direction of AD drug development and drug delivery: (1) aging-related formaldehyde is a direct trigger for Aβ assembly and tau hyperphosphorylation, and the new target for AD therapy is formaldehyde; (2) nano-packaging and physical therapy may be the promising strategy for increasing BBB permeability and accelerating interstitial fluid drainage.

Existing software fault-proneness analysis and prediction models can be categorized into software metrics and visualized approaches. However, the studies of the software metrics solely rely on the quantified data, while the latter fails to reflect the human aspect, which is proven to be a main cause of many failures in various domains. In this paper, we proposed a new analysis model with an improved software network called Composite Developer-Module Network. The network is composed of the linkage of both developers to software modules and software modules to modules to reflect the characteristics and interaction between developers. After the networks of the research objects are built, several different sub-graphs in the networks are derived from analyzing the structures of the sub-graphs that are more fault-prone and further determine whether the software development is in a bad structure, thus predicting the fault-proneness. Our research shows that the different sub-structures are not only a factor in fault-proneness, but also that the complexity of the sub-structure can affect the production of bugs.

Abstract Background Chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) is fundamentally treatable with about a 2–31% recurrence rate. Recently, there has been renewed interest in the association between Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) and intracranial lesion. Therefore, this paper attempts to show the relationship between BUN and CSDH recurrence. Methods A total of 653 CSDH cases with Burr-hole Irrigation (BHI) were enrolled from December 2014 to April 2019. The analyzed parameters included age, gender, comorbidities, laboratory investigations, medication use and hematoma location. The cases were divided into recurrence and non-recurrence groups while postoperative BUN concentration was further separated into quartiles (Q1 ≤ 4.0 mmol/L, 4.0 6.4 mmol/L). Restricted cubic spline regressions and logistic regression models were performed to estimate the effect of BUN on CSDH recurrence. Results CSDH recurrence was observed in 96 (14.7%) cases. Significant distinctions were found between recurrence and non-recurrence groups in postoperative BUN quartiles of cases (P = 0.003). After adjusting for the potential confounders, the odds ratio of recurrence was 3.069 (95%CI =1.488–6.330, p = 0.002) for the highest quartile of BUN compared with the lowest quartile. In multiple-adjusted spline regression, a high BUN level visually showed a significantly high OR value of recurrence risk. Conclusions Elevated BUN at post-operation is significantly associated with the recurrence of CSDH, and it is indicated that high levels of serum BUN after evacuation may serve as a risk factor for CSDH recurrence.

Stomata are specialized epidermal structures composed of two guard cells and are involved in gas and water exchange between plants and the environment and pathogen entry into the plant interior. Stomatal movement is a response to many internal and external stimuli to increase adaptability to environmental change. The cytoskeleton, including actin filaments and microtubules, is highly dynamic in guard cells during stomatal movement, and the destruction of the cytoskeleton interferes with stomatal movement. In this review, we discuss recent progress on the organization and dynamics of actin filaments and microtubule network in guard cells, and we pay special attention to cytoskeletal-associated protein-mediated cytoskeletal rearrangements during stomatal movement. We also discuss the potential mechanisms of stomatal movement in relation to the cytoskeleton and attempt to provide a foundation for further research in this field.

Abstract Avian pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC), a pathotype of extraintestinal pathogenic E. coli, causes one of the most serious infectious diseases of poultry and shares some common virulence genes with neonatal meningitis-associated E. coli. TonB-dependent receptors (TBDRs) are ubiquitous outer membrane β-barrel proteins; they play an important role in the recognition of siderophores during iron uptake. Here, in the APEC strain DE205B, we investigated the role of four putative TBDRs—ireA, 0007, 0008, and 2235—in iron uptake. Glutathione-S-transferase pulldown assays indicated that the proteins encoded by these genes directly interact with TonB. Moreover, the expression levels of all four genes were significantly upregulated under iron-depleted conditions compared with iron-rich conditions. The expression levels of several iron uptake-related genes were significantly increased in the ireA, 0007, 0008, and 2235 deletion strains, with the upregulation being the most prominent in the ireA deletion mutant. Furthermore, iron uptake by the ireA deletion strain was significantly increased compared to that by the wild-type strain. Moreover, a tonB mutant strain was constructed to study the effect of tonB deletion on the TBDRs. We found that regardless of the presence of tonB, the expression levels of the genes encoding the four TBDRs were regulated by fur. In conclusion, our findings indicated that ireA, 0007, 0008, and 2235 indeed encode TBDRs, with ireA having the most important role in iron uptake. These results should help future studies explore the mechanisms underlying the TonB-dependent iron uptake pathway.

Crowd formation of aesthetic transformation is considered to have extremely high artistic value and is widely applied in large-scale performances. In this paper, a spatio-temporal hierarchical model that parts the crowd formation transform into multiple granularities is proposed. Its core idea is to add spatio-temporal constraints created by directors into transformation process after multi-level division. In this model, average hash value and energy optimization are used to achieve reasonable crowd formation arrangement, while smooth and collision-free formation transformations are presented by constrained region growth and Kuhn-Munkres algorithm. We have also proposed a framework to achieve the generation of visually pleasing crowd formation transform performance based on the constraints. Besides, a virtual crowd formation transformation simulation was built to verify the effect of the proposed model. Through simulation experiments and comparisons, it was demonstrated that this hierarchical model can generate aesthetic crowd formation transformation with a satisfactory process.

In the present paper, we introduce a 4 × 4 matrix spectral problem and derive a four-component Fokas–Lenells equation. N-fold Darboux transformations for the four-component Fokas–Lenells equation are constructed by using the gauge transformation between spectral problems and an iterative procedure. Resorting to the limit technique and Taylor series, we obtain the N-fold generalized Darboux transformation. As an illustrative example, by utilizing the resulting Darboux transformations and Mathematica software, some exact solutions for the four-component Fokas–Lenells equation are obtained, including soliton, breather solution and rogue wave solution. Moreover, the dynamical behaviour of these solutions is analysed in detail.

Among all types of TGFβ signal blockers, small molecule kinase inhibitors (SMKIs) have attracted wide attention due to their economical production, obvious stability, and ease of oral administration. Nevertheless, SMKIs of TGFβRItypically have low druggability so there are none on the market. In this study, structure-based drug design (SBDD) was performed focusing on the pyrrolopyrimidin scaffold of BMS22 to find TGFβRIinhibitors with excellent medical potential. The binding mode, druggability, and target affinity were assessed by molecular docking, ADMET predictions, and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations for the designed TGFβRIinhibitors. Finally, the highly druggable compound W8 was discovered and then synthesized, which inhibited TGFβRIwith an IC50 value of about 10 μM. In addition, the binding free energies (ΔGbind) of W8 (−42.330 ± 3.341 kcal/mol) and BMS22 (−30.560 ± 6.076 kcal/mol) indicate that the high binding affinity is not necessarily accompanied by high inhibitory activity. Last but not least, the per-residue interaction analysis revealed that the contribution energy of ASP351 to binding was the most significant difference between BMS22 and W8, −2.195 kcal/mol and 1.707 kcal/mol, respectively. As a result, increasing the affinity between SMKIs and ASP351 of TGFβRImay effectively improve the inhibitory activity. The insights gained from this study could help with structure-guided optimization in searching for better SMKIs of TGFβRI.

In order to improve the antifungal activity of new butenolides containing oxime ether moiety, a series of new butenolide compounds containing methoxyacrylate scaffold were designed and synthesized, based on the previous reports. Their structures were characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, HR-MS spectra, and X-ray diffraction analysis. The in vitro antifungal activities were evaluated by the mycelium growth rate method. The results showed that the inhibitory activities of these new compounds against Sclerotinia sclerotiorum were significantly improved, in comparison with that of the lead compound 3–8; the EC50 values of V-6 and VI-7 against S. sclerotiorum were 1.51 and 1.81 mg/L, nearly seven times that of 3–8 (EC50 10.62 mg/L). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) observation indicated that compound VI-3 had a significant impact on the structure and function of the hyphal cell of S. sclerotiorum mycelium and the positive control trifloxystrobin. Molecular simulation docking results indicated that the introduction of methoxyacrylate scaffold is beneficial to improving the antifungal activity of these compounds against S. sclerotiorum, which can be used as the lead for further structure optimization.

In this paper, the best fixture scheme for the TIG welding torch of nickel-base solid solution superalloy GH3536 in the welding process is explored. First of all, to meet the extremely high-dimensional accuracy requirements of the flame cylinder, a multifield coupling analysis model based on the flame cylinder is established on SYSWELD software. By studying the stress and deformation of welded parts under different line constraint positions and applied pressure, the trend of welding deformation is obtained, and the relevant mathematical model is established based on this. Finally, the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is used to calculate the best fixture scheme to make the welding stress and deformation better. The simulation results show that the welding deformation is negatively related to the line constraint distance and positively related to the applied pressure. According to the optimized clamping scheme of PS0, through simulation calculation, the average axial deformation is reduced by 82.5%, the maximum radial shrinkage deformation is reduced by 60.6%, and the maximum residual stress is reduced by 60.3%. Finally, it is verified by the flame barrel experiment that it meets the acceptance requirements and successfully solves the problem of serious axial shrinkage during the TIG welding of the outer ring of the flame barrel.

A waterlogging assessment framework based on the stormwater management model (SWMM), considering the microtopography, is proposed (taking into account the complexity of the underlying surface, which contains various micro-surface features within the Chinese ancient city site). We used the ancient city site of PuZhou as the study case and the framework is detailed in this paper. First, the land cover was classified by combining the analysis of UAVs and field surveys; subsequently, a revised sub-catchment division method considering the land cover was proposed to obtain more accurate and reliable sub-catchments; thirdly, the parameters used in SWMM were determined by analyzing the micro-surface features; finally, the inundation area was calculated based on the SWMM-GIS. To verify the advantage of our proposed framework, two comparative experiments where the land cover and the micro-surface features were not considered in the stages of the sub-catchment division and parameter estimations were carried out. The simulated inundation area derived from our proposed framework with the return periods of 10a., 50a., 100a., and 1000a. were (separately) 22,500 m2, 29,500 m2, 33,600 m2, and 44,200 m2, which are more in line with the actual situation compared with the two designed comparative experiments. The experimental results show that our proposed framework has significant meaning to the waterlogging assessment on the Chinese ancient city site.

A novel symplectic superposition method has been proposed and developed for plate and shell problems in recent years. The method has yielded many new analytic solutions due to its rigorousness. In this study, the first endeavor is made to further developed the symplectic superposition method for the free vibration of rectangular thin plates with mixed boundary constraints on an edge. The Hamiltonian system-based governing equation is first introduced such that the mathematical techniques in the symplectic space are applied. The solution procedure incorporates separation of variables, symplectic eigen solution and superposition. The analytic solution of an original problem is finally obtained by a set of equations via the equivalence to the superposition of some elaborated subproblems. The natural frequency and mode shape results for representative plates with both clamped and simply supported boundary constraints imposed on the same edge are reported for benchmark use. The present method can be extended to more challenging problems that cannot be solved by conventional analytic methods.

Software modules and developers are two core elements during the process of software development. Previous studies have shown that analyzing relations between 1) software modules; (2) developers; and (3) modules and developers, is critical to understand how they interact with each other, which ultimately affects software quality. Specifically, relations such as developer contribution relation, module dependency relation, and developer collaboration relation have been used independently or in pairs to build networks for software fault-proneness prediction. However, none of them investigate the joint effort of these three relations. Bearing this in mind, in this paper, we propose a tri-relation network, a weighted network that integrates developer contribution, module dependency, and developer collaboration relations to study their combined impact on software quality. Four network node centrality metrics are further derived from the proposed network to predict the fault-proneness of a given software module at the file level. Moreover, we have explored a mechanism to refine current networks in order to further improve the effectiveness of software fault-proneness prediction.

A series of Mg-Zr composite oxide catalysts prepared by the hydrothermal process were used for the transesterification of glycerol (GL) with dimethyl carbonate (DMC) to produce glycerol carbonate (GC). The effects of the preparation method (co-precipitation, hydrothermal process) and Mg/Zr ratio on the catalytic performance were systematically investigated, and the deactivation of the catalyst was also explored. The Mg-Zr composite oxide catalysts were characterized by XRD, TEM, TPD, N2 adsorption-desorption, and XPS. The characterization results showed that compared with the co-precipitation process, the catalyst prepared by the hydrothermal process has a larger specific surface area, smaller grain size, and higher dispersion. Mg1Zr2-HT catalyst calcined at 600 °C in a nitrogen atmosphere exhibited the best catalytic performance. Under the conditions of reaction time of 90 min, reaction temperature of 90 °C, catalyst dosage of 3 wt% of GL, and GL/DMC molar ratio of 1/5, the GL conversion was 99% with 96.1% GC selectivity, and the yield of GC was 74.5% when it was reused for the fourth time.

JAK3 differs from other JAK family members in terms of tissue distribution and functional properties, making it a promising target for autoimmune disease treatment. However, due to the high homology of these family members, targeting JAK3 selectively is difficult. As a result, exploiting small changes or selectively boosting affinity within the ATP binding region to produce new tailored inhibitors of JAK3 is extremely beneficial. PubChem CID 137321159 was used as the lead inhibitor in this study to preserve the characteristic structure and to collocate it with the redesigned new parent core structure, from which a series of 1,7-dihydro-dipyrrolo [2,3-b:3′,2′-e] pyridine derivatives were obtained using the backbone growth method. From the proposed compounds, 14 inhibitors of JAK3 were found based on the docking scoring evaluation. The RMSD and MM/PBSA methods of molecular dynamics simulations were also used to confirm the stable nature of this series of complex systems, and the weak protein–ligand interactions during the dynamics were graphically evaluated and further investigated. The results demonstrated that the new parent core structure fully occupied the hydrophobic cavity, enhanced the interactions of residues LEU828, VAL836, LYS855, GLU903, LEU905 and LEU956, and maintained the structural stability. Apart from this, the results of the analysis show that the binding efficiency of the designed inhibitors of JAK3 is mainly achieved by electrostatic and VDW interactions and the order of the binding free energy with JAK3 is: 8 (−70.286 kJ/mol) > 11 (−64.523 kJ/mol) > 6 (−51.225 kJ/mol) > 17 (−42.822 kJ/mol) > 10 (−40.975 kJ/mol) > 19 (−39.754 kJ/mol). This study may provide a valuable reference for the discovery of novel JAK3 inhibitors for those patients with immune diseases.

As a key sphingolipid metabolite, sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) plays crucial roles in vascular and immune systems. It regulates angiogenesis, vascular integrity and homeostasis, allergic responses, and lymphocyte trafficking. S1P is interconverted with sphingosine, which is also derived from the deacylation of ceramide. S1P levels and the ratio to ceramide in cells are tightly regulated by its metabolic pathways. Abnormal S1P production causes the occurrence and progression of numerous severe diseases, such as metabolic syndrome, cancers, autoimmune disorders such as multiple sclerosis, and kidney and cardiovascular diseases. In recent years, huge advances on the structure of S1P metabolic pathways have been accomplished. In this review, we have got a glimpse of S1P metabolism through structural and biochemical studies of: sphingosine kinases, S1P transporters and S1P receptors, and the development of therapeutics targeting S1P signaling. The progress we summarize here could provide fresh perspectives to further the exploration of S1P functions and facilitate the development of therapeutic molecules targeting S1P signaling with improved specificity and therapeutic effects.

Objective. The urea-to-albumin ratio (UAR), as a new marker of the systemic inflammatory response, is associated with the mortality in pneumonia patients. However, the association between the UAR and in-hospital mortality in severe pneumonia (SP) has received little attention. Methods. In this single-center retrospective cohort study, 212 SP patients in intensive care unit (ICU) from June 1, 2016, to June 1st, 2020, with baseline UAR were enrolled. The primary outcome was in-hospital mortality. The association of UAR with in-hospital mortality was assessed using a multivariable-adjusted Cox model. Results. Of 212 patients, the median age was 73.0 (61.0, 82.8) years, 70.8% of patients were male, and the APACHE II score was 20.0 (16.0, 26.0). During the hospital period, 101 (47.6%) patients died. In-hospital mortality rates for the lower and higher UAR were 16 (27.6%) and 85 (55.2%), respectively P

Point cloud semantic segmentation has played an important role in the scan-to-BIM process of the Ming and Qing Dynasties’ official-style architecture roof. To overcome the complexity of roof components’ shape and the scale differences between different roof component types, a point cloud semantic segmentation method for the MQDOAs roof considering the construction regulations is proposed in this paper. This method is composed of two stages. In the first stage, the features from the construction rules of MQDOAs, including the normalized symmetrical distance (NSD), relative height (RH) and local height difference (LHD), are extracted alongside the regular geometric features. To lower the influence of scale differences, a multi-scale feature connection strategy is also applied to construct the feature classification vector. In the second stage, RF method is applied to classify the point cloud. To verify the efficiency of the proposed method, we took the Hall of Complete Harmony as the study case. The experiments showed that our method achieved segmentation result in overall classification accuracy and reached 96.8%.

In rice (Oryza sativa), caryopses located on proximal secondary branches (CSBs) have smaller grain size and poorer grain filling than those located on apical primary branches (CPBs), greatly limiting grain yield. However, the molecular mechanism responsible for developmental differences between CPBs and CSBs remains elusive. In this transcriptome-wide expression study, we identified the gene Aspartic Protease 1 (OsAsp1), which reaches an earlier and higher transcriptional peak in CPBs than in CSBs after pollination. Disruption of OsAsp1 expression in the heterozygous T-DNA line asp1-1+/-eliminated developmental differences between CPBs and CSBs. OsAsp1 negatively regulated the transcriptional inhibitor of auxin biosynthesis, OsTAA1 transcriptional inhibition factor 1 (OsTIF1), to preserve indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) apical dominance in CPBs and CSBs. IAA also facilitated OsTIF1 translocation from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) to the nucleus by releasing the interaction of OsTIF1 with OsAsp1 to regulate caryopses IAA levels via a feedback loop. IAA promoted transcription of OsAsp1 through MADS29 to maintain an OsAsp1 differential between CPBs and CSBs during pollination. Together, these findings provide a mechanistic explanation for the distributed auxin differential between CPBs and CSBs to regulate distinct caryopses development in different rice branches and potential targets for engineering yield improvement in crops.

Background. Although mean platelet volume (MPV) appears to be associated with poor outcome of pneumonia, the relationship between MPV and in-hospital mortality is unclear in severe pneumonia (SP) patients. Methods. In this retrospective cohort study, 115 SP patients from June 1st, 2016, to September 29th, 2019, were included and divided into two groups. The primary outcome was in-hospital mortality. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was performed to assess the predictive ability for in-hospital mortality. Kaplan-Meier cumulative incidence curves were applied to observe the incidence of mortality. Multivariable Cox regression analyses were used to evaluate the hazard ratios (HRs). Besides, a formal test for interaction was investigated to analyze the relationship between MPV and sex. Results. During the course of hospitalization, 63 cases of mortality were recorded. The Ming and Qing Dynasty type of official-style architecture roof can provide plenty of prior knowledge relating to the structure and size of these works of architecture, and plays an important role in the fields of 3D modeling, semantic recognition and culture inheriting. In this paper, we take the 3D point cloud as the data source, and an automatic classification method for the roof type of Ming and Qing Dynasty official-style architecture based on the hierarchical semantic network is illustrated. To classify the roofs into the correct categories, the characteristics of different roof types are analyzed and features including SoRs, DfFtR, DoPP and NoREs are first selected; subsequently, the corresponding feature extraction methods are proposed; thirdly, aiming at the structure of the ridges, a matching graph relying on the attributed relational graph of the ridges is given; based on the former work, a hierarchical semantic network is proposed and the thresholds are determined with the help of the construction rules of the Ming and Qing Dynasty official-style architecture. In order to fully verify the efficiency of our proposed method, various types of Ming and Qing Dynasty official-style architecture roof are identified, and the experimental results show that all structures are classified correctly.
