Abstract

To achieve the physics goal of precisely measure the Higgs, Z, W bosons and the top quark, future electron-positron colliders require that their detector system has excellent jet energy resolution. One feasible technical option is the high granular calorimetery based on the particle flow algorithm (PFA). A new high-granularity hadronic calorimeter with glass scintillator tiles (GSHCAL) has been proposed, which focus on the significant improvement of hadronic energy resolution with a notable increase of the energy sampling fraction by using high-density glass scintillator tiles. The minimum ionizing particle (MIP) response of a glass scintillator tile is crucial to the hadronic calorimeter, so a dedicated beamtest setup was developed for testing the first batch of large-size glass scintillators. The maximum MIP response of the first batch of glass scintillator tiles can reach up to 107 p.e./MIP, which essentially meets the design requirements of the CEPC GSHCAL. An optical simulation model of a single glass scintillator tile has been established, and the simulation results are consistent with the beamtest results.

43. Tunable valence state and scintillation performance of dense Ce3+-doped borosilicate glasses prepared in ambient atmosphere.

Abstract

A series of Ce3+-doped borosilicate glass scintillators (GABSx) was successfully synthesized in ambient atmosphere. The cut-off wavelength was observed to change slightly in the range of 335–345 nm, which was related to the concentration ratios of Ce3+ to Ce4+ in the GABSx glasses. X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) spectra indicate that the valence state of cerium was effectively adjusted using various contents of Si3N4 powder as a reducing agent in the air atmosphere. Under ultraviolet excitation, the glasses show a broadband emission in the 320–600 nm wavelength regions. The PL decay time of the GABSx glasses is around 23 ns, and the maximum PL QY reaches 72.51%. The integral X-ray excited luminescence (XEL) intensity of the GABS1.0 glass is 11.8% of Bi4Ge3O12 (BGO) crystal. Under γ-ray irradiation, the light yield of all glasses exceeds 1000 ph MeV−1 as the Si3N4 concentration increases. The highest light yield of GABS1.0 glass reaches 1279 ph MeV−1 with an energy resolution of 27.1% at 662 keV. All the glasses exhibited a scintillation decay time of approximately 820–873 ns, which is much slower than those of photoluminescence (PL) decay time of about 26 ns by a factor of over 30. Thermally stimulated luminescence (TSL) curves were recorded to explore the nature of the defects in the glasses. Abstract

With the depletion of shallow surface metal mineral resources, China's underground metal mining was gradually transferred to deep mining (>1 000 m).Because of the special mining conditions of high stress, great lifting depth, and high temperature in deep mines, it is difficult to realize the safe, efficient, and economical exploitation of deep resources by using the traditional mining methodology.According to the trend of deep metal mineral resources, a novel idea of in-situ fluidization mining for deep metal mines was proposed.The definition, conception, and challenges were introduced.According to the transformation methods, in-situ fluidization mining can be divided into two parts: in-situ leaching mining, and integration of mining, processing and backfilling.Moreover, the major issues and challenges faced with in-situ fluidization mining, namely, deep rock mechanics, in-situ leaching mining theory, equipment of integration of mining, processing and backfilling, environment monitoring and reconstruction, intelligent and efficient mining, were expound.
