Objective To investigate the influence of smoking on subgingival flora after periodontitis treatment through microbiological experiments. Methods Fifty-nine patients with periodontitis who completed periodontal treatment in the Department of Stomatology of Nanjing Jiangbei Hospital from 2019 to 2021 were selected and divided into smoking group(30 patients) and non-smoking group(29 patients). The clinical samples of patients's periodontal pockets before and after treatment were collected for detection of Actinobacillus (Aa), Porphyromonas gingivalis (Pg), Plasmobacterium intermedius (PI), Bacteroides forsythiae (Bf), Fusobacterium nucleatum (Fn) and Streptococcus minimus (Pm). Results After treatment, the bleeding index and periodontal attachment of the smoking group were better than those before treatment, while the plaque area index, bleeding index, periodontal pocket depth and periodontal attachment of the non-smoking group were better than those before treatment, and the plaque area index, periodontal pocket depth and periodontal attachment of the non-smoking group were better than those of the smoking group, with statistically significant differences(P＜0.05). After treatment, the positive rate of Pg and Pi in the smoking group was lower than that before treatment, the positive rate of Aa, Pg, Pi, Bf, Fn and Pm in the non-smoking group was lower than that before treatment, and the positive rate of Pg, Bf, Fn and Pm in the non-smoking group was lower than that in the smoking group, with statistically significant differences(P＜0.05). Conclusion Compared with smokers, non-smokers have better periodontal attachment recovery and lower detection rate of periodontal bacteria after periodontal treatment.

Curcumin (CUR) is a natural compound with various pharmacological effects, including anticancer, antiinflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial, lipid-lowering, and immune-regulating properties. It can be employed as a novel feed additive in livestock and poultry feed. Adding an appropriate amount of CUR to feed can improve the production performance of broilers, enhance immunity, improve the quality of animal products, and alleviate the hepatotoxicity caused by aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) in broilers. This article elaborates on the physiological functions of CUR and its impact on the broiler production performance, meat quality, immune function, antioxidant capacity, lipid metabolism, and intervention against AFB1 to provide reference for the promotion and rational application of CUR as a new feed additive in broiler production. Objective To study the nutrition habits among Chinese-Korean children and adolescents in Yanbian Autonomous Prefecture, Jilin, China. Methods Data were obtained from the Chinese National Survey on Students' Constitution and Health in 1995, 2000, 2005, and 2010 for Chinese-Korean children and adolescents aged 7-18 years. The number of the subjects included was 4789, 4704, 5875, and 5315, respectively. Results The rate of the occurrence of stunting showed a declining trend from 1995 to 2010 (for boys: urban, 6.3%; rural, 12.7% in 1995 and 3.5% for both in 2010. For girls: urban, 7.8%; rural, 13.4% in 1995 and 4.2% and 5.5%, respectively, in 2010). Although the ratio of wasting did not show significant differences between the urban and rural children and adolescents in 1995, 2000, 2005, and 2010 respectively, the ratio of occurrence of overweight or obesity increased (for boys: urban, 7.3% and 1.3% in 1995, 17.6% and 12.9% in 2010; rural, 7.0% and 1.3% in 1995, 14.6% and 12.8% in 2010, respectively. For girls: urban, 8.1% and 1.0% in 1995, 17.3% and 8.6% in 2010; rural 5.7% and 0.7% in 1995, 16.4% and 7.4% in 2010, respectively). Conclusion The ratio of malnutrition in children and adolescents in Chinese-Korean areas declined from 1995 to 2010, and the distinction in malnutrition between the urban and rural areas was negligible in 2010. Background: Obesity in adolescents and children has become a global public health problem and lots of factors influence the status of obesity and overweight. The present study aims to compare the health-related factors which could influence the obesity in Chinese children and adolescents in three different groups which including the local developed city group, rural-to-urban migrants group and immigrants origin areas group., Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study consisted of 2457 children and adolescents aged 7-10 years old including 914 rural-to-urban migrants subjects, 795 local Shanghai subjects and 748 from immigrant origin areas. Physique measurements and self-reported information on health-related factors, such as physical activities, dietary habits, socio-economic factors such as family income, sleep habits, etc. were collected by questionnaire. SPSS16.0 was used in the analysis., Results: Mean level of body height, body weight and sitting height were different among the three groups, local youth group was higher in all the indexes than the other two groups. Grip for both hands were higher in local group also, while the heart rate was lowest in rural-to-ruban migrants group. The mean BMI in three groups showed significant difference, highest for local group. Higher SBP level was found in city and rural-to-urban migrants group also. However, no difference of DBP between groups was detected. The distribution of pre-hypertension and hypertension in three groups were significantly different and the distribution of overweight and obesity between genders in all three groups were different. The prevalence of overweight was 19.04% in rural-to-urban migrants group (19.92% for male and 17.64% for female), 28.21% for city group (35.64% for male and 20.72% for female); while no overweight or obesity subjects were found in immigrant origin areas group in this study. When compared the overweight and obesity prevalence between city group and rural-to-urban migrants, we found the overweight was more common in the local youth group. Univariable Logistic regression analysis and multivariable analysis results suggested that the more rice intake, higher family income and SBP higher than 140 mmHg were risk factors to obesity for rural-to-ruban migrants, while good dietary habits (no TV watching during meals) was preventive factor to obesity and SBP higher than 120 mmHg and unsocial factor were associated with obesity for rural-to-urban migrants., Conclusions: Our study revealed the prevalence of overweight and obesity in developed city children and adolescents and rural-to-urban migrants were relatively high, especially more common in local population and male gender. Lifestyle, dietary and psychological factors offered important contribution in increasing or decreasing the risk of obesity.

Objective: To assess the prevalence of malnutrition among children and adolescents in Xizang (Tibet)., Methods: We analyzed data from the Chinese National Survey on Students' Constitution and Health for the years 1995, 2000, 2005, and 2010 pertaining to Tibetan children and adolescents in lase (Lhasa), aged 7-18 years old. Numbers of survey subjects for these years were: 2393, 2754, 2397, and 2643, respectively., Results: Our results indicated that the rate of occurrence of stunting in Tibet has evidenced a gradual decline: for boys, from 26.8% in 2000 to 9.3% in 2010; and for girls, from 25.8% in 2000 to 10.8% in 2010. In general, the wasting rate for both boys and girls in Tibet has gradually decreased over time: for boys, from 17.7% in 1995 to 4.6% in 2005; and for girls from 12.5% in 1995 to 2.3% in 2005. The stunting rates of boys aged 7-13 years old and of girls aged 7-11 years old were 67.5% and 53.1%, respectively, while these rates for boys aged 14-18 years old and girls aged 12-18 years old were 32.5% and 46.9%, respectively., Conclusion: Stunting and wasting rates of Tibetan children and adolescents indicate a gradual declining trend over time.
