Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) is an ideal biomarker for cancer diagnosis based on liquid biopsy, so there is an urgent need for developing an efficient, rapid, and ultrasensitive detection method to meet clinical needs. MicroRNA (miRNA), as one of the ideal target biomarker analytes, plays an essential role in biological processes; thus, the development of rapidly sensitive detection methods is imperative. Herein, we proposed a pump-free surface-enhanced Raman scatting (SERS) microfluidic chip for the rapid and ultrasensitive detection of miR-106b and miR-196b, laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC)-related miRNAs. Ag-Au core-shell nanorods (Ag-AuNRs) were applied to prepare SERS tags by modifying Raman reporters and hairpin DNAs. The capture probes were synthesized by labeling hairpin DNAs onto the magnetic beads (MBs) surface. In the presence of targets, the catalytic hairpin assembly (CHA) reactions between SERS tags and capture probes could be triggered, causing the aggregation of Ag-AuNRs. The tiny magnets installed under the rectangular chamber could magnetically gather the CHA products, leading to the further aggregation of Ag-AuNRs. Thus, this strategy could achieve the double aggregation of Ag-AuNRs, resulting in the significant amplification of the SERS signal. The proposed strategy achieved simultaneous and sensitive detection of miR-106b and miR-196b, with limits of detection low to aM level. The whole detection process could be completed within 5 min. Moreover, this microfluidic chip exhibited excellent reproducibility, stability, and specificity. The high accuracy of this SERS microfluidic chip was proved by practical analysis in LSCC patients' serum. The results demonstrated that SERS could be a promising alternative clinical diagnosis tool and exhibited potential application for the dynamic monitoring of cancer staging.

Very high resolution image shows more detail information of objects on the earth's surface, which makes the traditional pixel-based change detection technique unsuitable for it. The paper proposes a method of object-oriented change detection based on change magnitude fusion in multitemporal very high resolution images. The method can be divided into three steps: 1) Object-oriented image segmentation by multi-scale morphological watershed image segmentation algorithm based on gradient image and marker image. 2) Feature vectors of image objects extraction based on spectral and texture feature. 3) Multitemporal change magnitude maps generation based on change vector analysis, and then the fusion image of change magnitude map can be obtained based on image fusion method, which leads to get change areas by optimum threshold. Experiments show the feasibility and effectiveness of the method proposed by quantitative and qualitative analysis.

Diverse data acquisition methods, such as airborne, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), and space-borne sensor bring in large volumes of raster image data. For rapid decision making based on those multi-source raster data, an effective and efficient storage and management system is necessary. This paper mainly focuses on how to design and implement flexible interfaces for GeoRaster. The raster data and their metadata in our work are all stored in Oracle database. Meanwhile, the constructed interfaces can offer such functionalities like image blocking, compressing, pyramid construction, and spatial indexing. To the latter, the constructed system present two connecting mechanisms: Client/Server and Browser/Server. All the systems support data querying, data visualization, data acquisition as well as some other data management operations.

To prevent attackers from gaining privacy information from both sensory data and sink issued queries, a secure scheme named SQPF was proposed, which allows the sink to detect compromised misbehaved storage nodes. By a privacy preserving technique based on data hidden, the sensory data and queries are encoded while the storage node can correctly process encoded queries over encoded data. By a novel verification chain technique, the sink is allowed to verify the integrity of the returned data items. Analyses show SQPF is able to preserve privacy more efficiently while consuming less communication overhead.

This paper introduces a Proof of Concept to demonstrate the feasibility and benefit of exploiting existing home management devices for disabled users. The model we present exploits an integrated platform exposing an API which can be utilized by a variety of User Interface approaches, including accessible Smartphones/tablets or more specialised hardware/software combinations. Future research will investigate the extent to which provision of suitable control technology can enhance feelings of wellbeing in disabled users, increase their independence, and enhance a sense of control over their living environment.
