Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), the subtype of head and neck cancers, is notorious for its high incidence and death rate. The role of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) is discovered to be significant for the canceration and cancer progression. Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 958 (LINC00958) is discovered as a carcinogene in multiple cancers, such as gastric cancer, pancreatic cancer, and glioma, but there has been no report about how LINC00958 functions in OSCC. The objective of our study is to unfold function and mechanism investigation on LINC00958 in OSCC. First, TCGA database showed the upregulation and prognostic significance of LINC00958 in head and neck squamous carcinoma. Then, we discovered in OSCC clinical samples that LINC00958 presented high expression and predicted poor prognosis. Also, LINC00958 was elevated in OSCC cells. In vitro gain- and loss-function experiments proved that LINC00958 facilitated cell growth, retarded apoptosis, accelerated migration, and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in OSCC. Mechanistically, we confirmed the cytoplasmic expression of LINC00958 in OSCC cells, and revealed that LINC00958 sequestered miR-627-5p to upregulate YBX2 expression. Rescue assays indicated that LINC00958 regulated OSCC cell proliferation, motility and EMT through YBX2. Together, we showed that LINC00958 promoted OSCC progression through miR-627-5p/YBX2 axis, indicating LINC00958 as a new prognostic marker, and provided new perspectives for molecular targeted treatment for OSCC.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine guests’ experiences at green hotels and the impact of green experience on customer satisfaction. Design/methodology/approach A total of 727 green reviews (reviews on green experiences) of the top ten green hotels in the USA were downloaded from TripAdvisor for content analysis. Descriptive statistics and ordinal logistic regressions were then used. Findings Guests have both positive and negative experiences at green hotels. “Energy”, “purchasing” and “education and innovation” are the most frequently discussed green practices. Some guests’ green experiences, such as “guest training”, “energy”, “water”, “purchasing” and “education and innovation”, significantly influence their overall satisfaction with hotels. Compared with basic green practices, advanced green practices tend to have greater impacts on customer satisfaction. Research limitations/implications This study provides insight into guests’ green experiences at hotels and their impact on customer satisfaction. More importantly, this study examines the contribution of different types of green practices to customer satisfaction. As the green hotels examined in this study were not randomly selected, the results should be interpreted with caution. Practical implications Different practices impact customer satisfaction in different ways, so hoteliers should refine their green strategies when they implement these green practices. Originality/value Very few studies have examined the relationship between green practices and customer satisfaction. A gap still exists in specifically what types of green practices affect customer satisfaction and whether different levels of green practices have different impacts on customer satisfaction. This study investigates guests’ actual experiences and fills the above research gap.

The purpose of this study is to identify Chinese domestic travelers’ trip patterns to Mount Fanjing. Data analysis is based on 200 questionnaires completed by travelers to the destination. Consistent with the LCF model, the researchers recognize five trip patterns: the single destination pattern, en-route pattern, base-camp pattern, regional tour pattern, and trip-chaining pattern. In addition, the researchers examine factors that influence Chinese travelers’ decisions on single-destination and multi-destination trips. Time constraints and destination familiarity have significant impacts on Chinese travelers’ destination choice. The research findings have implications for researchers to understand Chinese domestic travelers’ behavior and for local governments to develop their destination marketing strategies.

User satisfaction is a critical determinant of information systems success. Prior research has long conceptualized it as a bipolar continuum with a “neutral” midpoint and “extremely dissatisfied” and “extremely satisfied” as endpoints. Therefore, the bipolar view imposes the constraint that an increase in satisfaction implies an equal and opposite decrease in dissatisfaction. Consequently, a key limitation of the bipolar conceptualization is its inability to account for simultaneous processing of positivity and negativity, i.e., ambivalence. A bivariate perspective relaxes this constraint, permitting the representation of mixed feelings, which allows potential additional insights. It represents satisfaction and dissatisfaction as distinct unipolar constructs each ranging from “neutral” to “extremely satisfied” or “extremely dissatisfied”, respectively. Users commonly experience mixed feelings, and the bipolar approach discards potentially useful information about the true affective state and distinct antecedents and consequences of satisfaction and dissatisfaction. Results of our survey (n=214) support the unipolar conceptualization. Unipolar satisfaction and dissatisfaction are moderately correlated -0.48, well below the -1.00 implied by the bipolar view. Unipolar satisfaction and dissatisfaction have unique and distinct effects on behavioral intention. Bipolar satisfaction explains no additional variance beyond the unipolar constructs. Together, these findings suggest that the unipolar conceptualizations can better represent user satisfaction and dissatisfaction. This study highlights the significance of ambivalence, advances the understanding of user satisfaction and dissatisfaction as distinct unipolar constructs, and provides a basis for new research into the potentially differential relationships to key antecedents and consequences in nomological networks relating actionable design and implementation actions to user behavioral outcomes.

User satisfaction is a well-established key determinant of post-adoption system continuance. Although most commonly theorized as a single bipolar dimension ranging from highly satisfied to highly dissatisfied (with a neutral midpoint), IS researchers are increasingly re-conceptualizing satisfaction and dissatisfaction as two distinct uni-polar dimensions, each ranging from low (neutral) to high (satisfaction or dissatisfaction). The uni-polar conceptualization permits the representation of ambivalence, or the simultaneous experience of both satisfaction and dissatisfaction, which is commonly observed in practice. The present research introduces and tests a new approach-avoidance-ambivalence (AAA) model that accounts for the formation of such ambivalent or “mixed” feelings. The model distinguishes between approach beliefs, which more strongly influence uni-polar satisfaction, and avoidance beliefs, which more strongly influence uni-polar dissatisfaction. The differential effects of approach and avoidance beliefs can account for the simultaneous experience of satisfaction and dissatisfaction. Satisfaction and dissatisfaction each explain unique variance of behavioral intention. By providing a more detailed and nuanced understanding of the countervailing influences of approach and avoidance beliefs and the unique roles of satisfaction and dissatisfaction, the new model provides actionable insights for how to predict, diagnose, and manage continuance and discontinuance behavior in practice.

The objective of this study is to examine and predict website marketing activities of US hotels. An online survey is conducted to collect data from members of three major hotel associations located in the US. Change propensity analysis is utilized to evaluate future trends of website marketing activities. The results demonstrate that current website exploitation by the US hotels is relatively limited, with a focus on information dissemination. It is suggested that a number of transaction and relation-building activities will emerge in the near future. Implications based on the results are discussed.
