In recent years, severe traffic congestion in urban areas has become a growing concern for many cities in China. While beltway expressways have been built to alleviate urban congestion by diverting traffic away from city centers, existing preferential access schemes have led to overuse of certain beltway links and a decline in service levels. This research is motivated by the need to develop an improved scheme that balances urban traffic relief and beltway service level maintenance. To benefit both the government and the beltway expressway company, we propose a tradable credit scheme (TCS) to shift some of the traffic burden from urban roads to the beltway expressway while maintaining its current service level. In order to determine an appropriate TCS, a biobjective bilevel programming model is introduced. The upper-level model seeks to maximize the revenue of the beltway expressway company while minimizing the system travel time as specified by the traffic management department. The lower-level model describes user travel behavior under given TCS and capacity constraints of beltway expressway links, represented as the generalized capacitated traffic assignment problem. Additionally, an NSGA-II framework is designed to discover Pareto-optimal TCSs. Within this framework, a gradient projection method is utilized within the augmented Lagrangian multiplier algorithm to solve the lower-level problem and evaluate the fitness of the TCS. Numerical experiments demonstrate that implementing well-designed tradable credit schemes can effectively alleviate urban traffic congestion, reducing system travel time by up to 1.6%, while simultaneously increasing the beltway company’s revenue by up to 300% compared to the base case without requiring government subsidies. The sensitivity analysis results indicate the insufficiency of the existing preferential access or toll-free schemes on the beltway, highlighting the greater effectiveness of the integrated strategy proposed in this study.

Background and hypothesisThe field of coronary artery physiology is developing rapidly and changing the practice of interventional cardiology. A new functional evaluation technique using the instantaneous wave-free ratio (iFR) has become an alternative to fractional flow reserve. Future research studies need to determine whether physiological indicators play a role in evaluating myocardial perfusion in the catheter room.Materials and methodsThirty-eight patients scheduled for coronary angiography and iFR evaluation underwent a real-time myocardial contrast echocardiography (RT-MCE) examination at rest. The myocardial perfusion parameters (A, β, and A × β) on the myocardial perfusion curve were quantitatively analyzed using Q-Lab software. Coronary angiography and iFR assessment were completed within 1 week after the RT-MCE examination in all patients. Correlation analysis was used to identify iFR- and MCE-related indicators. The sensitivity and specificity of iFR in the quantitative detection of coronary microcirculation were obtained.ResultsThe correlation coefficients between iFR and A, β, and A × β were 0.81, 0.66, and 0.82, respectively. The cut-off value for iFR was 0.85 for microvascular ischemia detection, while the sensitivity and specificity for the diagnosis of myocardial perfusion were 90.7 and 89.9%, respectively. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve area for iFR was 0.946 in the segments related to myocardial blood flow.ConclusionThe iFR is an effective tool for detecting myocardial microcirculation perfusion, with satisfactory diagnostic performance and a demonstrated role in physiological indices used for the perfusion assessment.

In order to improve the training effect of transportation technology professionals, this paper combines the intelligent digital signal processing method to process the data of the integration of production and education, and explores the training process of transportation technology professionals. In the process of data processing of industry-education fusion, this paper demodulates the nuclear magnetic resonance signal obtained after A/D conversion from the carrier frequency signal and places it at zero frequency. At the same time, this paper realizes the separation of the real part and the imaginary part of the nuclear magnetic resonance signal and constructs the digital sine table and digital cosine table of the carrier reference frequency. In addition, the data output by the ADC is subjected to quadrature detection to become two data signals, which are the in-phase component and the quadrature component. Finally, this paper constructs an intelligent analysis model. The simulation results show that the talent training method of intelligent transportation technology based on the integration of production and education has good effects, which can effectively improve the training effect of transportation technology professionals.

Copper nanoparticles (Cu-NPs) are water pollutants, which has significant toxic environmental effects. However, the effects of Cu-NPs on Takifugu fasciatus are still relatively unknown. Compared with the control (no add CuSO4 and Cu-NPs). This study aims to describe the pathological changes in the gill and liver of pufferfish exposed to CuSO4 (Cu2+ for short) and Cu-NPs dissolved at a concentration of either 20 or 100 μg/L, in a semi-static waterborne exposure regime for 28 days. All Cu treatments resulted in organ injuries, and the pathologies observed following exposure to Cu-NPs were broadly of the same type as those observed following exposure to Cu2+. In the gill, these included lamellar fusion, clubbed tips, and mucocytes swollen, and in the liver included oedema, aggregation of blood cells, and necrosis. Furthermore, enzyme activity assays revealed that Ca2+ -ATP activity significantly increased under the influence of Cu, whilst Na+-K+-ATPase activity was significantly inhibited. In this study, the CRT in T. fasciatus (referred to as TfCRT) was identified and full-length cDNA sequences were characterized. Subsequently, RT-PCR and western blot analysis were carried out to assess the expressions of TfCRT in the gill and liver at both the mRNA and protein levels. Under both the Cu-NPs and Cu2+ treatments, both the mRNA and protein expressions of TfCRT were considerably higher in the gill and liver compared to that of the control treatment. Furthermore, there were no significant differences between Cu-NPs and Cu2+ treatment (at the same treatment concentration) in the expressions of TfCRT at the mRNA or protein levels. Overall, both Cu2+ and Cu-NPs had negative effects on T. fasciatus, and Cu-NPs had the toxic effects similar to dissolved Cu. Our results provide the ecological safety data service of Cu-NPs in water, and provide a reference for the health T. fasciatus aquaculture.

Physics ,QC1-999 - Abstract
Based on the theory of Reissner’s sandwich structure bending, a mechanical model of bending stiffness degradation for a soft-honeycomb sandwich structure under continuous wave (CW) laser heating was established by introducing the equivalent debonding coefficient of adhesive and elastic modulus temperature dependence of panels. To verify the rationality of the mechanical model, a real-time bending stiffness measurement system for a soft-honeycomb sandwich structure under CW laser heating was proposed using the overhanging beam three-point bending method. The results show that the mechanical model works good to describe the decreasing trend of the soft-honeycomb sandwich structure under CW laser heating and to predict the residual bending stiffness after CW laser heating, despite the fact that in the early stage of CW laser heating, the bending stiffness of some kind of soft-honeycomb sandwich structure may increase for a short time due to the pyrolysis gas production. However, with the overflowing of pyrolysis gas and the elastic modulus of panel degradation at a high temperature, the bending stiffness of soft-honeycomb sandwich structure declines rapidly and soon fails to withstand any bending load. The research shows that special attention should be paid to the effect of laser heating on the mechanical properties of the soft-honeycomb sandwich structure. It also enlightens the study of mechanical properties and temperature dependence of the honeycomb sandwich structure at a high heating rate.

Physics ,QC1-999 - Abstract
Considering the two most important factors, delamination and tensile strength temperature dependence, a tensile strength prediction model for orthogonal carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) under continuous wave (CW) laser irradiation is proposed. In the prediction model, delamination was judged by the thermal data recorded by a thermal imager. In order to eliminate the influence of heating rate on the tensile strength temperature dependence parameters, a two-sided laser irradiation method was proposed to test the tensile strength temperature dependence of CFRP. Furthermore, according to the temperature distribution in the thickness direction of the T700/E44 CFRP specimen and the tensile strength temperature dependence, the tensile strength for orthogonal CFRP under CW laser irradiation was calculated. The results show that the prediction model can reflect the decreasing process of tensile strength with laser irradiation, especially in the cases of high intensity laser irradiation and high tensile load. This research can make a reference for the tensile strength prediction of composite materials in high intensity CW laser irradiation and pre-tension loading conditions.

This paper has put forward a dissolved oxygen control method based on MPC. The method has utilized the aforementioned simulation software package for generating large amounts of data, acquired state space model of the DO value process through identification, and simultaneously designed an MPC controller whose parameters are gradually determined by the common trial-and-error method. In simulation, it firstly carries out contrast verification of controller performance under different controller parameters so as to determine better controller parameters and lay the foundation for DO value process control. Secondly, it conducts control performance research on the activated sludge process by parameters-defined MPC controller and a comparison between built-in PI control strategies based on IWA and COST Benchmark. Results show that this controller performs better, and the DO value becomes more stable and less undulant. The proposed method has two advantages: first, fewer DO activities may make the activated sludge process more stable and reliable and thus lead to better processing effects; second, poorer DO fluctuations would exert little load for heating blowing machines, which is conducive to its energy-saving operation and consequently will provide conditions for low-cost operation of the whole activated sludge process.

Waterborne polyurethane is a polyurethane binary collagen system with water as the dispersion medium. It has the advantages of environmental protection, strong adhesion, high hardness, good flexibility, good air permeability and non-flammable. Therefore, waterborne polyurethanes can be used in the fields of coatings, leather, ink, textile, adhesives and building materials. In addition, it can also be used for special functional materials. However, compared with solvent-based polyurethane, water-based polyurethane has many shortcomings, such as water resistance, mechanical properties and heat resistance are not very good. Therefore, in order to improve the overall performance of waterborne polyurethane, we synthesized new water-based polyurethane.

Based on the ABAQUS/Explicit code, A 3D elastic–plastic and coupled thermo-mechanical FE model of radial ring rolling of AZ31 Magnesium alloy has been proposed to analyze the influence of rotational speed of driver roll to study the inhomogeneity distribution of strain and temperature, fishtail coefficient, rolling force parameters. The results show that: (1) when the rotational speed of driver roll n increases, the strain distribution of the rolled ring becomes less homogeneous, and the temperature distribution more homogeneous yet, and leading to an optimal n value; (2) the fishtail coefficient firstly decreases, then increases with the increase of n; (3) the rolling force, contact area and rolling moment gradually descend with the increase of n.

Teaching resource platform construction is a systematic project that needs to be constantly enriched and improved in use. The improvement process should always adhere to the principles of school-enterprise cooperation and joint construction and sharing. To solve the problems of weak service content and imperfect sharing mechanism during the construction of the current vocational education teaching resource library, a general framework for the construction of a shared teaching resource platform is designed. To address the problems of low platform resources differentiation and few sharing paths, an intelligent recommendation method based on coupled collaborative filtering and portrait analysis technology is proposed. By introducing attention mechanism and portrait analysis technology into the coupled collaborative filtering model, the platform users and resources are accurately matched to achieve intelligent sharing of vocational education resources.

Objective: To assess the computerized tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and positron emission tomography (PET) fusion imaging technique features in cervical cancer staging and lymph node metastasis. Methods: A total of 196 cervical cancer patients undergoing CT, MRI, PET/CT, and PET/MRI preoperatively were enrolled. The diagnostic accuracy and detection rates for paracervical invasion were evaluated on the basis of the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) staging classification for cervical cancer. The diagnostic efficacy of each examination modality for determining lymph node metastasis was evaluated using surgical pathology as a reference. The CT and MRI imaging features of lymph node metastasis were compared. Results: PET/MRI had a higher diagnostic accuracy for cervical cancer (94.90%) than PET/CT, MRI, and CT (83.67%, 75.51%, and 69.39%) (P < 0.05). PET/MRI showed a higher detection rate of vaginal invasion, uterine invasion, bladder invasion, and cervical invasion than PET/CT, MRI, and CT (P < 0.05). The metastasis group showed higher maximum long and short axis diameters and axial ratios than the non-metastasis group (P < 0.05). The metastasis group had higher wash-in rates (WIR), maximum relative enhancements (MRE), wash-out ratios (WOR), and apparent diffusion coefficients (ADC), and lower times to peak (TTP) than the non-metastasis group (P < 0.05). The sensitivity (94.74%), specificity (93.33%), and accuracy (93.88%) of PET/MRI in the diagnosis of cervical cancer lymph node metastasis were higher than the sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of PET/CT, MRI and CT (P < 0.05). Conclusion: CT, MRI, PET/CT and PET/MRI can be used effectively in the diagnosis of cervical cancer staging and lymph node metastasis, among which PET/MRI has a higher diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy and is helpful in clinical diagnosis and treatment.

Composite coatings consisting of flake graphite and SiO2 fillers in a hyperbranched polycarbosilane (HBPCS) matrix were designed and prepared to meet the requirements of laser protection. The laser ablation behavior of the composite coatings were investigated. Control experiments were designed to study the performance of SiO2 during laser irradiation. The results show that the introduction of SiO2 changes the anti-laser protective mechanism and can improve the anti-laser property of the coating. High power laser irradiation results in pyrolysis of HBPCS and the formation of SiC particles. Chemical reactions between SiO2, graphite, and SiC play an important role in consuming energy, and provide an excellent cooling effect to the substrate, leading to decreased temperature. SiC particles formed on the surface of the laser ablation area act as a shield to prevent the laser from irradiating deeper layers of the coating. Due to the cooling effect and thermal stability of SiC, the proposed coating shows a good anti-laser property.

Terpinolene (TPO), a natural and safe substance for food and cosmetic additives, was selected as a solvent to replace chlorobenzene (CB)-type solvents for solution processing of polymer solar cells (PSCs). Hansen solubility parameters (HSPs) of TPO, with δd, δp, and δhb of 16.8, 2.75, and 2.5 MPa1/2, respectively, were obtained by first-order group approximation, and the calculated Relative Energy Difference of 1.08 for TPO to PC71BM suggested that TPO could be a good non-aromatic and non-chlorinated solvent for solution processing of fullerene based PSCs. Pristine PTB7 and PC71BM films spin-casted from TPO showed very smooth surfaces, with small root-mean-square roughness of 0.824 and 0.565 nm, respectively. In addition, CB- and TPO-processed PTB7:PC71BM blend films showed comparable UV absorption spectra, photoluminescence quenching behaviors, and surface morphologies. In PSCs, the TPO-processed active layer displayed a good power conversion efficiency of 6.42%, close to that of CB-processed device. Our results suggest that TPO would be a promising solvent for environment-friendly fabrications of PSCs.

Fluorine-doped hematite samples with different concentrations were successfully synthesized through a hydrothermal method. The 3% F-doped hematite is found to be the optimal catalyst in this study which has a [110]-oriented structure and a remarkable photocurrent density of 1.24 mA cm−2 at 1.23 V vs. RHE under one sun irradiation, which is about ten times higher than that of bare hematite (0.12 mA cm−2). F doping also reduces the recombination of free electron–hole pairs. The shift of the Fermi level position caused by F doping leads to the decrease of charge-transfer resistance in the bulk (R1) and interface (R2) and the increase of charge carrier concentration (Nd). In addition, F doping contributes to the shadow defect. All the results indicate that 3% F is the best doping concentration.

A series of novel acceptor-pended conjugated polymers featuring a newly developed carbazole-derived unit are designed and synthesized. The relationships between chemical structure and optoelectronic properties of the polymers are systematically investigated. The control of UV-Vis absorption spectra and energy levels in resulting polymers are achieved by introducing suitable pended acceptor units. The photovoltaic properties of the resulting polymers are evaluated by blending the polymers with (6,6)-phenyl-C71-butyric acid methyl ester. The resulting solar cells exhibit moderate performances with high open-circuit voltage. Charge transport properties and morphology were investigated to understand the performance of corresponding solar cells.

Three new alternating copolymers derived from dithienobenzoxadizole (DT f BO) and different thiophene-based π-spacers, including terthiophene, quarterthiophene, and dithienyl flanked thienothiophene, were successfully synthesized. The DT f BO-based polymers possess optical band-gaps in the range of 1.84–1.89 eV and exhibit relatively deep HOMO levels between −5.36 eV and −5.50 eV. Due to strong interchain aggregation, DT f BO-based polymers could not be well dissolved in chlorobenzene at room temperature, but they could be processed with hot chlorobenzene solutions of ∼100 °C. Evolutions of UV absorption spectra of polymer solutions during heating process could differentiate their different aggregation ability, among which a repeating unit based on a DT f BO and a terthiophene could supply the strongest inter-chain interaction. Notably, the three DT f BO-based polymers displayed high field-effect hole mobilities between 0.21 and 0.54 cm 2 /(V s). In polymer solar cells (PSCs) with the three polymers as the donors, high open-circuit voltages between 0.87 and 0.93 V could be realized. For active layer thickness of 80 nm, the PSCs displayed power conversion efficiency (PCE) between 2.85% and 5.07%. A very high fill factor of 75.4% was achieved for the polymer comprising dithienyl flanked thienothiophene. With thicker ative layers of 250 nm, the three DT f BO-based polymers exhibited comparable PCEs of ∼5.61% due to obviously increased short-circuit currents. Our results suggest that DT f BO, a big coplanar heterocycle, is a promising building block to construct high mobility conjugated polymers for efficient thick-film PSCs.

Copper nanoparticles (CuNPs), a new pollutant in water environments, were widely used in various industrial and commercial applications. This study indicated that the presence of CuNPs exposure under environmental related concentration is an inducing factor that contributes to the fatty liver formation in Takifugu fasciatus. Furthermore, we explored the fatty liver formation mechanism. The results shown, (1) the cloned genes related to endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) (GRP78, IRE-1α, PERK, and ATF-6α) were highly expressed in the liver of T. fasciatus. (2) after 30-days exposure, CuNPs accumulated in the endoplasmic reticulum of liver and induced the appearance of ERS, then activated unfolded protein response (UPR) signaling pathway. Furthermore, the SREBP-1c pathway that plays a key role in lipid synthesis was activated. (3) by using 4-PBA and GSK inhibitors to respectively stimulate ERS and PKR-like ER kinase (PERK) through in vitro experiments, we confirmed that CuNPs induced the fatty liver formation in T. fasciatus triggered by the PERK-EIF2α pathway by activating the SREBP-1c pathway to promote fatty liver formation. This study provides a new perspective for identifying the pathogens of fatty liver formation, and adds to the knowledge of the ecological safety data service of CuNPs in water

Excessive ammonia triggered negative effects on aquatic animals' health, growth, and mass death, especially at different developmental periods. However, the underlying responses to ammonia stress in fish larvae and juveniles were much less explored. Transcriptomic analysis of Coilia nasus larvae and juveniles treated with ammonia stress and subsequent recovery in freshwater were performed. Total 958,213,132 clean reads were obtained. A total of 234,830 unigenes with an average length of 1397 bp and N50 value 2521 bp were assembled. 831 and 952 DEGs were identified in C. nasus larvae and juveniles, respectively. Transcriptomic analysis revealed that genes associated with purine metabolism, immune, inflammation, epigenetic modification, and nerve conduction presented different expression trends between C. nasus larvae and juveniles. Other genes related to purine metabolism (XDH) and epigenetic modifications (DNMT1, DNMT3A, and DNMT3B) detected by RT-qPCR also displayed different expression trends. These results indicated that ammonia detoxify strategies and gene regulation patterns were different in C. nasus larvae and juveniles. Higher TNF-α, ILF-2, and ILF-3 expression and reduced LZM, AKP, and ACP activities suggested that inflammation and declined immunity were triggered by ammonia stress. Additionally, nervous conduction was severely affected under ammonia stress in C. nasus juveniles. Furthermore, recovery in freshwater had positive effects on nervous conduction. However, it was worth noting that reduced immunity and inflammation were still existed after recovery in freshwater. In conclusion, our study would be beneficial to reveal the different responses to ammonia stress between larvae and juveniles.

Aiming to environment protection, green solvents are crucial for commercialization of solution-processed optoelectronic devices. In this work, d -limonene, a natural product, was introduced as the non-aromatic and non-chlorinated solvent for processing of polymer light-emitting diodes (PLEDs) and organic field effect transistors (OFETs). It was found that d -limonene could be a good solvent for a blue-emitting polyfluorene-based random copolymer for PLEDs and an alternating copolymer FBT-Th 4 (1,4) with high hole mobility ( μ h ) for OFETs. In comparisons to routine solvent-casted films of the two conjugated polymers, the resulting d -limonene-deposited films could show comparable film qualities, based on UV–vis absorption spectra and observations by atomic force microscopy (AFM). With d -limonene as the processing solvent, efficient blue PLEDs with CIE coordinates of (0.16, 0.16), maximum external quantum efficiency of 3.57%, and luminous efficiency of 3.66 cd/A, and OFETs with outstanding μ h of 1.06 cm 2 (V s) −1 were demonstrated. Our results suggest that d -limonene would be a promising non-aromatic and non-chlorinated solvent for solution processing of conjugated polymers and molecules for optoelectronic device applications.

It is generally accepted that increasing the object distance can decrease the radiation influence of the self-luminous object in a schlieren system. This paper shows that a larger object distance results in a brighter image that exerts a greater influence on schlieren imaging because of overwhelming. To decrease the radiation influence, we propose to put the self-luminous object nearer to the second schlieren mirror, e.g. in the front focal plane, and spatially filter the radiation at the back focal plane of the second schlieren mirror by a diaphragm. An experiment was carried out, showing that the image irradiance contributed by self-luminescence can be reduced by several orders by this scheme.

Two new conjugated copolymers, PBDT-T6-TTF and PBDT-T12-TTF, were derived from a novel 4-fluorobenzoyl thienothiophene (TTF). In addition, two types of benzodithiophene (BDT) units with 2,3-dihexylthienyl (T6) and 2,3-didodecylthienyl (T12) substituents, respectively, were successfully synthesized. The effect of the dual two-dimensional (2D) substitutions of the building blocks upon the optoelectronic properties of the polymers was investigated. Generally, the two polymers exhibited good solubility and broad absorption, showing similar optical band gaps of ~1.53 eV. However, PBDT-T6-TTF with its shorter alkyl chain length possessed a larger extinction coefficient in thin solid film. The highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) level of PBDT-T6-TTF was located at -5.38 eV while that of PBDT-T12-TTF was at -5.51 eV. In space charge-limited- current (SCLC) measurement, PBDT-T6-TTF and PBDT-T12-TTF displayed respective hole mobilities of 3.0×10-4 and 1.6×10-5 cm2 V-1 s-1. In polymer solar cells, PBDT-T6-TTF and PBDT-T12-TTF showed respective power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of 2.86% and 1.67%. When 1,8-diiodooctane (DIO) was used as the solvent additive, the PCE of PBDT-T6-TTF was remarkably elevated to 4.85%, but the use of DIO for the PBDT-T12-TTF-blend film resulted in a lower PCE of 0.91%. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) indicated that the superior efficiency of PBDT-T6-TTF with 3% DIO ( v / v ) should be related to the better continuous phase separation of the blend film. Nevertheless, the morphology of the PBDT-T12-TTF deteriorated when the 3% DIO ( v / v ) was added. Our results suggest that the alkyl-chain length on the 2D BDT units play an important role in determining the optoelectronic properties of dual 2D BDT-TT-based polymers.

Two conjugated copolymers PADT-DPP and PADT-FDPP based on anthradithiophene and diketopyrrolopyrrole, with thiophene and furan as the π-conjugated bridge, respectively, were successfully synthesized and characterized. The number-averaged molecular weights of the two polymers are 38.7 and 30.2 kg/mol, respectively. Polymers PADT-DPP and PADT-FDPP exhibit broad absorption bands and their optical band gaps are 1.44 and 1.50 eV, respectively. The highest occupied molecular orbital energy level of PADT-DPP is located at −5.03 eV while that of PADT-FDPP is at −5.16 eV. In field-effect transistors, PADT-DPP and PADT-FDPP displayed hole mobilities of 4.7 × 10−3 and 2.7 × 10−3 cm2/(V s), respectively. In polymer solar cells, PADT-DPP and PADT-FDPP showed power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 3.44% and 0.29%, respectively. Atomic force microscopy revealed that the poor efficiency of PADT-FDPP should be related to the large two-phase separation in its active layer. If 1,8-diiodooctane (DIO) was used as the solvent additive, the PCE of PADT-DPP remained almost unchanged due to very limited morphology variation. However, the addition of DIO could remarkably elevate the PCE of PADT-FDPP to 2.62% because of the greatly improved morphology. Our results suggest that the anthradithiophene as an electron-donating polycyclic system is useful to construct new D–A alternating copolymers for efficient polymer solar cells. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. To simplify the conventional donor–acceptor molecular scaffold design, we report the synthesis of two simple donor (TCz) and acceptor (PI) semiconductors via brief synthetic routes. The film formed from solution process through the simple blending of TCz and PI revealed a compacted, continuous, and smooth morphology. The optical and electrochemical properties of the blend films with various blend proportions were characterized by UV–vis absorption spectra and cyclic voltammograms. The as-fabricated ITO/TCz:PI/Al sandwiched devices exhibited both volatility and reversibility dually tunable electrical data storage performance as the blend ratio varying. From these observations we demonstrate a very simple but powerful strategy to obtain organic memory devices with good performance.

Using 9,10-bis(dodecyloxy)phenanthrene as electron-donating unit and 4,7-dithienyl-5,6-bis(dodecyloxy)benzothiadiazole, 4,7-dithienyl-5,6-bis(octyloxy)benzoxadiazole, 5,8-dithienyl-2,3-bis(para-octyloxyphenyl)quinoxaline, and 5,8-dithienyl-2,3-bis(meta-octyloxyphenyl)quinoxaline as electron-accepting unit, four D–A copolymers PPA-DTBT, PPA-DTBX, PPA-p-DTQ, and PPA-m-DTQ, respectively, were successfully synthesized as new polymeric donors for photovoltaic cells. All the alternating copolymers can show two absorption bands, both in solutions and thin films. The optical bandgaps of the polymers are quite close, which are between 1.93 and 2.00 eV. The HOMO and LUMO levels of the polymers are also comparable of −5.52 ± 0.03 eV and −3.57 ± 0.03 eV, respectively. Thus, using the dialkoxyphenanthrene as the D unit could afford D–A copolymers with deep-lying HOMO levels, which would be an important factor to achieve high open-circuit voltages (Voc) in bulk-heterojunction solar cells. With the copolymers as the donor and PC71BM as the acceptor, the resulting solar cells could display good Voc between 0.86 and 0.88 V. Among the four copolymers, PPA-DTBT containing the dialkoxybenzothiadiazole unit showed the best power conversion efficiency of 3.03% because of its relatively higher hole mobility and better phase separation. The results suggest that dialkoxyphenanthrene is a valuable electron-donating unit in the constructions of D–A copolymers for efficient solar cells with high Voc. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. In this work, poly[N-9′-heptadecanyl-2,7-carbazole-alt-5,5-(4,7-di-2-thienyl-5,6-bis(dodecyloxy)-2,1,3-benzothiadiazole)] (PCDTBT12) was synthesized as the polymer donor for photovoltaic application. PCDTBT12 possesses a band gap of 1.99 eV, a low-lying HOMO of −5.6 eV, and good hole mobility up to 4.1 × 10–3 cm2 V–1 s–1. With ZnO as the interlayer on an ITO cathode, a PCDTBT12-based inverted solar cell showed a high open-circuit voltage of 0.98 V and a good power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 5.53%, suggesting that PCDTBT12 would be a promising donor material in the fabrication of a subcell for shorter wavelength absorption in a tandem solar cell. Using PC-P, a homopolymer of 2,7-carbazole with hydrophilic phosphonate side chains, as an interlayer polymer on the ITO cathode could further elevate the efficiency to 6.04% because of increased current (higher efficiency of 6.2% was achieved for a smaller cell area of 0.045 cm2). In this work, alcohol-soluble 2,7-carbazole-1,4-phenylene copolymers PCP-NOH and PCP-EP, comprising surfactant-like diethanolamino and phosphonate end groups on the side chains, respectively, were utilized as cathode interlayer on ITO to construct inverted solar cells based on a low band gap poly(2,7-carbazole) (PCDTBT) as the polymer donor and [6,6]-phenyl C71-butyric acid methyl ester (PC71BM) as the acceptor. The work functions of ITO were shifted to −4.2 and −4.3 eV by PCP-NOH and PCP-EP, respectively, which can well match the LUMO level of PC71BM for good electron extraction. The power conversion efficiency (PCE) of the inverted solar cells without the cathode interlayer was only 1.63%, because of very low open-circuit voltage (Voc, 0.48 V) and fill factor (FF, 36.9%). Using PCP-NOH and PCP-EP as cathode interlayers significantly improved Voc to 0.88 V and FF to ∼58%, giving PCEs of 5.39% and 5.48%, respectively. The increasing extents of PCEs by the interlayers are over 230%. The PCEs achieved by PCP-NOH and PCP-EP belong to the top device performances so far reported for the inverted PVCs with an organic cathode interlayer. Our results suggest that hydrophilic conjugated polymers are promising candidates as a cathode interlayer in high efficiency inverted solar cells through the modification of interface contacts.

We propose reducing the threshold of stimulated Brillouin Scattering by enhancing the initial Brillouin ultrasounds, since the high threshold results from the low intensity of the sounds that exist in thermal noises. Theoretical analysis shows that the threshold can be reduced by at least one order through introducing comparatively weak Brillouin ultrasounds. Schemes for enhancing the initial ultrasounds are also proposed, including stimulation by transducers, by electroacoustic media or by direct radiation of microwaves.

A large angularly multiplexed XeCl Excimer laser system is under development at the Northwest Institute of Nuclear Technology (NINT). It is designed to explore the technical issues of uniform and controllable target illumination. Short wavelength, uniform and controllable target illumination is the fundamental requirement of high energy density physics research using large laser facility. With broadband, extended light source and multi-beam overlapping techniques, rare gas halide Excimer laser facility will provide uniform target illumination theoretically. Angular multiplexing and image relay techniques are briefly reviewed and some of the limitations are examined to put it more practical. The system consists of a commercial oscillator front end, three gas discharge amplifiers, two electron beam pumped amplifiers and the optics required to relay, encode and decode the laser beam. An 18 lens array targeting optics direct and focus the laser in the vacuum target chamber. The system is operational and currently undergoing tests. The total 18 beams output energy is more than 100J and the pulse width is 7ns (FWHM), the intensities on the target will exceed 10 13 W/cm 2 . The aberration of off-axis imaging optics at main amplifier should be minimized to improve the final image quality at the target. Automatic computer controlled alignment of the whole system is vital to efficiency and stability of the laser system, an array of automatic alignment model is under test and will be incorporated in the system soon.

The output power of a narrow line-width laser is usually limited by the Stimulated Brillouin Scattering effect. In Master Oscillator Power Amplifier structures, multi-point pump could rearrange the gain distribution along the fiber, leading to the suppression of the Stimulated Brillouin Scattering effect with maintained amplification efficiency. A theoretical model concerning 100W-level fiber amplifiers is proposed. Stimulation is performed to analyze the amplification process of the laser signal and Stimulated Brillouin Scattering. The results demonstrate that the power of scattering light decreases from 3.2W to 6.8mW (with two-point pump) indicating the effectiveness of this new technology in Stimulated Brillouin Scattering suppression.

Two hydrophilic conjugated polymers, PmP-NOH and PmP36F-NOH, with polar diethanol-amine on the side chains and main chain structures of poly(meta-phenylene) and poly(meta-phenylene-alt-3,6-fluorene), respectively, are successfully synthesized. The films of PmP-NOH and PmP36F-NOH show absorption edges at 340 and 343 nm, respectively. The calculated optical bandgaps of the two polymers are 3.65 and 3.62 eV, respectively, the largest ones so far reported for hydrophilic conjugated polymers. PmP-NOH and PmP36F-NOH also possess deep-lying highest occupied molecular orbital levels of -6.19 and -6.15 eV, respectively. Inserting PmP-NOH and PmP36F-NOH as a cathode interlayer in inverted polymer solar cells with a PTB7/PC71 BM blend as the active layer, high power conversion efficiencies of 8.58% and 8.33%, respectively, are achieved, demonstrating that the two hydrophilic polymers are excellent interlayers for efficient inverted polymer solar cells.
