9. Exploring the Determinants of Blockchain Acceptance for Research Data Management

Abstract

ABSTRACTResearchers are highly interested in research data management to derive excellent research results. This study analyzes the determinants affecting the acceptance of blockchain-based electronic lab notebooks service as research data management service. A research model was established based on the technology acceptance model. The sample is collected by 585 researchers from universities and research institutes in Korea. The main research results showed that the usefulness and ease of use lowered the perceived risk and increased the intention to use. Social norms also decreased perceived risk factors and increased intention to use. Research implications are that managers should seek ways to lower the technical risks of blockchain when developing blockchain-based services. In addition, they have to allow users to easily use blockchain-based services and recommend them to other users around them.

Abstract

Crowdsourcing has been distinguished as an effective means of open innovation for collecting creative ideas from people who have various degrees of expertise and diversity in knowledge. Online platforms enable open innovation using the crowd in an efficient way in terms of cost and time management. Manufacturers in the convergent media industry have recently adopted crowdsourcing activities because understanding the variety of customers' hidden needs and identifying new market opportunities has become more critical to maintain a competitive edge in the market. However, it is difficult to empirically verify the effect of crowdsourcing activities on the market success of these device manufacturers. As such, this paper attempts to validate the effectiveness of crowdsourcing through qualitative studies including a literature review and case study analyses. As a result of the evaluations, several practical guidelines on how to integrate crowdsourcing into new product development processes are suggested for firms. Abstract

This paper has attempted to provide an interdisciplinary research for efficient hospital infection control. The suggested system operates on wireless sensor network that enables context-awareness and ubiquitous service. This system is expected to provide not only new values that are helpful to overcome the limitations of the current HIC but also market opportunities for the WSN to be diffused over organizations. In order to develop an appropriate system, this paper has reviewed literatures and conducted field interviews to find out the real problems and requirements. After the designing the system, the value and feasibility of the system were verified by five industry professionals. In conclusion, the system is expected to contribute to solve the current problems in HIC.

28. The effect of social influence on consumers' hybrid electric vehicles adoption in Korea and China.

Abstract

Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) are alternatives to conventional vehicles, and have a critical role in migrating climate change and saving oil resources. Even though supported by government with several incentives, HEVs are still less accepted by consumers. Previous studies stated it mainly due to innovative perceived risks, such as perceived economic loss and psychology concern, but without considering the moderation effect of geographical culture and economic environment. Besides, the effect of social influence was argued important to HEVs market penetration, but with little experimental research. Hence, this study tries to identify the effect of social (altruism, image, subjective norm) influences on adoption intention, and estimate moderation effect of different culture and economic situation. Hypotheses are developed from literatures, and tested using questionnaires. Social influence, such as altruism and image motivations, are found to be significant in increasing consumers' purchase intention in both Korea and China, whereas different culture and economic background also have an significant effect on consumer intention, and particularly reflected by the difference of consumers' perceived financial and psychology risk. The findings from these two countries provide managerial insights for politicians and manufactures into potential consumers' behaviour of HEVs. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
