Abstract

We investigated the influence of the magnetic permeabilities of the magneto-optical (MO) tertiary TbFeCo targets. Films were sputter-deposited by using a magnetron rf-dc sputtering system. Target B with a low magnetic permeability (5) was found favorable with regard to the target use efficiency (35%), and the uniform film thickness in the range of 1975 [Angstrom] to 2015 [Angstrom] over a substrate of 130 mm in diameter, compared to Target A with a high magnetic permeability (40). The difference of the Tb content between the sputtered thin rims and Target B was found narrower than that of the Tb content between the sputtered thin films and Target A. A low motor current was needed to rotate the magnet placed below Target B during the magnetron-sputtering.

33. Investigation of the drying temperature dependence of the orientation in sol-gel processed PZT thin films

Abstract

The crystal orientations of lead zirconate titanate (PZT) thin films have been investigated by using various drying temperatures in the sol–gel process. The films were dried at different temperatures between 310 and 350°C for pyrolysis and then were heat treated at 650°C using rapid thermal annealing (RTA). TG/DTA and FTIR spectroscopy were used to detect the remnants of organic materials in the thin films prior to the final heat treatment. In order to examine the relationship between the film orientation and the remaining organic materials for the prior and final heat treatment, the films were fabricated with different coating cycles and dried for different holding times and then annealed at 650°C. The preferred orientations were investigated using X-ray diffraction.

Abstract

Callosal disconnection signs are closely related to asymmetric hemispheric specialization of cognitive functions. Although extinction is more commonly associated with the right parietotemporal lesion, it may occur following lesions of the corpus callosum. After an infarction involving the left splenium, a 58-year-old right-handed man had no disconnection symptoms that had been reported earlier, but showed visual extinction with left or right visual hemifield dominant stimuli. Our results suggest that dominance specific visual extinction might be another disconnection sign associated with splenial lesion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
