Advances in digital technologies coupled with the explosion of data are transforming the marketing education landscape at a rapid pace. Given the scale and speed of digital disruption in today's industry, marketing academics face ongoing challenges of addressing the theory-practice gap, which will only accelerate. The purpose of the current study is to gain a better understanding of the current state of digital/social media marketing and analytics education through a review of past pedagogical research in the realm of digital/social media marketing and marketing analytics. The collected database (N = 54) was analyzed based on their category and scope, and sub-themes within each category. Our findings indicate that while business schools have been diligent in introducing important skill sets to their curriculum, the approach has been predominately tactical, rather than driven by an overarching strategic plan. Based on the findings, we discuss the implications for marketing educators and directions for future research that can help bridge the theory-practice gap as we proceed in the future data-driven digital environments.

This study examined the influence of addition and subtraction practice embedded within a word-problem intervention for Grade 3 students experiencing word-problem difficulty. Students (N = 448) were randomly assigned to one of two variants of a word-problem intervention or a business-as-usual comparison condition. Within the word-problem interventions, students participated in targeted addition and subtraction fact and computation practice for approximately 3 minutes of each 30-minute session across 47 intervention sessions, but also continually practiced addition and subtraction through word-problem solving. At posttest, students who participated in the intervention demonstrated improved single-digit addition and subtraction performance as well as improved double-digit addition and subtraction performance. At follow-up in Grade 4, persistence of effects was only identified for double-digit addition. Considering addition and subtraction are foundational to many other mathematics skills, addition and subtraction practice serves as an important component of mathematics intervention.

The efficient management of urban water distribution networks is crucial for public health and urban development. One of the major challenges is the quick and accurate detection of leaks, which can lead to water loss, infrastructure damage, and environmental hazards. Many existing leak detection methods are ineffective, especially in complex and aging pipeline networks. If these limitations are not overcome, it can result in a chain of infrastructure failures, exacerbating damage, increasing repair costs, and causing water shortages and public health risks. The leak issue is further complicated by increasing urban water demand, climate change, and population growth. Therefore, there is an urgent need for intelligent systems that can overcome the limitations of traditional methodologies and leverage sophisticated data analysis and machine learning technologies. In this study, we propose a reliable and advanced method for detecting leaks in water pipes using a framework based on Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks combined with autoencoders. The framework is designed to manage the temporal dimension of time-series data and is enhanced with ensemble learning techniques, making it sensitive to subtle signals indicating leaks while robustly dealing with noise signals. Through the integration of signal processing and pattern recognition, the machine learning-based model addresses the leak detection problem, providing an intelligent system that enhances environmental protection and resource management. The proposed approach greatly enhances the accuracy and precision of leak detection, making essential contributions in the field and offering promising prospects for the future of sustainable water management strategies.

Iliopsoas abscess (IPA) rarely occurs in newborns and infants. Symptom triad, including fever, inguinal swelling or discoloration, and limited lower limb movement, is observed in most cases. Herein, we report a case of unusual IPA in an 82-day-old boy who presented with fever as the only symptom. To our best knowledge, there have been no reports of infant IPA presenting without localizing signs. This report highlights the importance of a high degree of suspicion for timely diagnosis of infant IPA when an infant presents only with fever.

BackgroundSystemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), a common autoimmune disease predominantly affecting women, has been linked to various complications during pregnancy. The transfer of anti-Ro/SSA antibodies from SLE-affected mothers to their offspring can lead to neonatal lupus and cardiac issues. This study investigated the association between maternal SLE and the risk of pediatric cardiovascular disorders.MethodsThe study utilized South Korea's National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) database, covering 3,505,737 children born between 2007 and 2017 and tracked until 2020. Maternal SLE cases were identified using the World Health Organization's International Classification of Diseases Tenth revision (ICD-10) codes and linked with delivery records. Cardiologic disorders were categorized into congenital heart disease (CHD), arrhythmic disorders, and acquired heart disease. Propensity score matching with 1:4 ratios was applied to the set control group.ResultsAmong 3,505,737 children, 0.7% (n = 23,330) were born to mothers with SLE. The incidence of preterm birth was significantly higher in the maternal SLE group (5.9% vs. 3.0%). Compared with the control group, children born to mothers with SLE exhibited a significantly elevated risk of overall CHDs (5.5%, adjusted odds ratio [aOR] 1.21; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.14–1.29), including atrial septal defect (1.18; 1.09–1.28) and patent ductus arteriosus (1.15; 1.03–1.30). In addition, a notably higher risk was observed in arrhythmic disorders (complete atrioventricular block 7.20; 2.41–21.49) and acquired cardiac disorders, including cardiomyopathy (1.40; 1.17–1.68) and mucocutaneous lymph node syndrome (MCLS) (1.27; 1.15–1.43).ConclusionsMaternal SLE is associated with congenital and acquired cardiac disorders in offspring, including structural, arrhythmic, and MCLS. This study highlights the need for continuous cardiovascular monitoring from the prenatal stage to preadolescence in these children due to multifactorial influences involving maternal autoantibodies, genetic predisposition, and environmental factors.

IntroductionGastric delta cells (D-cells) secrete somatostatin, which is the primary paracrine suppressor of acid secretion. The number and distribution of D-cells were investigated in children exhibiting endoscopic findings of duodenogastric and gastroesophageal reflux. This study aimed to determine whether the number of D-cells in the gastric body differs from that in the gastric antrum in children using endoscopic findings.MethodsWe retrospectively used immunohistochemical assessments to determine the number of D-cells in the gastric body and antrum in 102 children who presented with abdominal symptoms. The number and distribution of D-cells were investigated according to symptoms, endoscopic findings of gastroesophageal reflux and duodenogastric reflux, and Helicobacter pylori infection status.ResultsThe average age of the patients was 13.3 ± 3.3 years, and the male-to-female ratio was 1:1.68. The mean number of D-cells per high-power field in the antrum and body did not significantly differ by symptoms. Pericardial effusion (PCE) in neonates has various clinical presentations depending on the amount and speed of fluid accumulation and can cause cardiac tamponade (CT). We report a case of rapidly accumulating PCE and near-fatal CT with an umbilical venous catheter successfully resolved by emergent echo-guided pericardiocentesis in a term infant who had been hospitalized with meconium aspiration syndrome and persistent pulmonary hypertension. This case report suggests that if a patient with an intracardiac umbilical catheter shows sudden cardiopulmonary instability, the possibility of PCE and CT should be considered. Furthermore, if necessary, emergency drainage of the PCE and removal of the umbilical catheter should be immediately performed.

ObjectivesThis study aimed to investigate the effect of rapid weight gain (RWG) on the incidence of central precocious puberty (CPP) using nationwide population-based data.MethodsA total of 253,967 children (101,841 boys and 152,126 girls) who underwent regular health consultations under the National Health Insurance Service from 2007 to 2010 were followed up until the age of 10 years for boys and 9 years for girls. We calculated differences in the weight Z-scores from 4–6 months to 9–12 months (infancy) and from 9–12 months to 18–24 months or 30–36 months (toddlerhood) using the lambda-mu-sigma method. The population was subdivided into four groups: RWGinf/tod (infancy > + 0.67 standard deviation score [SDS], toddlerhood > 0 SDS), RWGinf (infancy > + 0.67 SDS, toddlerhood < 0 SDS), RWGtod (toddlerhood > + 0.67 SDS), and control (no RWG). The diagnosis of CPP was based on the diagnostic codes of the International Classification of Diseases 10th revision and the prescription of gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists. The cumulative risk of CPP based on age was analyzed using Kaplan–Meier survival curves, and the association between the RWG groups and CPP was assessed using multivariate logistic regression analysis.ResultsCPP was diagnosed in 268 boys and 9,225 girls. For the girls, the CPP-free probability was the highest in the control group, followed by the RWGtod, RWGinf, and RWGinf/tod groups (log-rank p < 0.001). However, the incidence of CPP did not vary significantly for the boys. Compared to the control group, the other groups had a higher risk of CPP in girls (RWGinf/tod: adjusted odds ratio [aOR] 1.35, 95%, confidence interval [95% CI] 1.13–1.62; RWGinf: aOR 1.25, 95% CI 1.13–1.38; and RWGtod: aOR 1.18, 95% CI 1.09–1.28).ConclusionsThis nationwide population-based study demonstrated that any RWG from birth to 3 years of age contributed to an increased risk of CPP in girls but not in boys. Girls who experienced RWG during both infancy and toddlerhood had the highest risk of developing CPP. These findings suggest that early detection and appropriate management of excessive weight gain in early life may be important for preventing CPP in girls.

IntroductionThe aim of this study is to develop an enhanced machine learning-based prediction models for bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) and its severity through a two-stage approach integrated with the duration of respiratory support (RSd) using prenatal and early postnatal variables from a nationwide very low birth weight (VLBW) infant cohort.MethodsWe included 16,384 VLBW infants admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) of the Korean Neonatal Network (KNN), a nationwide VLBW infant registry (2013–2020). Overall, 45 prenatal and early perinatal clinical variables were selected. A multilayer perceptron (MLP)-based network analysis, which was recently introduced to predict diseases in preterm infants, was used for modeling and a stepwise approach. Additionally, we applied a complementary MLP network and established new BPD prediction models (PMbpd). The performances of the models were compared using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC) values. The Shapley method was used to determine the contribution of each variable.ResultsWe included 11,177 VLBW infants (3,724 without BPD (BPD 0), 3,383 with mild BPD (BPD 1), 1,375 with moderate BPD (BPD 2), and 2,695 with severe BPD (BPD 3) cases). Compared to conventional machine learning (ML) models, our PMbpd and two-stage PMbpd with RSd (TS-PMbpd) model outperformed both binary (0 vs. 1,2,3; 0,1 vs. 2,3; 0,1,2 vs. 3) and each severity (0 vs. 1 vs. 2 vs. 3) prediction (AUROC = 0.895 and 0.897, 0.824 and 0.825, 0.828 and 0.823, 0.783, and 0.786, respectively). GA, birth weight, and patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) treatment were significant variables for the occurrence of BPD. Birth weight, low blood pressure, and intraventricular hemorrhage were significant for BPD ≥2, birth weight, low blood pressure, and PDA ligation for BPD ≥3. GA, birth weight, and pulmonary hypertension were the principal variables that predicted BPD severity in VLBW infants.ConclusionsWe developed a new two-stage ML model reflecting crucial BPD indicators (RSd) and found significant clinical variables for the early prediction of BPD and its severity with high predictive accuracy. Our model can be used as an adjunctive predictive model in the practical NICU field.

Abstract Intestinal perforation (IP) in preterm infants is a life-threatening condition that may result in serious complications and increased mortality. Early Prediction of IP in infants is important, but challenging due to its multifactorial and complex nature of the disease. Thus, there are no reliable tools to predict IP in infants. In this study, we developed new machine learning (ML) models for predicting IP in very low birth weight (VLBW) infants and compared their performance to that of classic ML methods. We developed artificial neural networks (ANNs) using VLBW infant data from a nationwide cohort and prospective web-based registry. The new ANN models, which outperformed all other classic ML methods, showed an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC) of 0.8832 for predicting IP associated with necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC-IP) and 0.8797 for spontaneous IP (SIP). We tested these algorithms using patient data from our institution, which were not included in the training dataset, and obtained an AUROC of 1.0000 for NEC-IP and 0.9364 for SIP. We report a case of a 14-year-old Korean boy presenting with pain in the left lower quadrant, persisting for over 10 days. Except for the persistent pain, no other symptoms, such as vomiting and diarrhea, were observed. In addition, laboratory findings were normal. He was eventually diagnosed with epiploic appendagitis, a rare disease in children. This case highlights the need for imaging study for early diagnosis of epiploic appendagitis or surgical emergencies in children who visit emergency departments with pain in the left lower quadrant without specific clinical findings.

Exertional heat stroke (EHS) is a life-threatening entity characterized by elevated core temperature with potential for multiorgan dysfunction. EHS-related rhabdomyolysis usually occurs in the early phase. We report a boy athlete with EHS-related rhabdomyolysis, which recurred 15 and 79 days after the initial event. This case indicates that EHS can cause recurrences of rhabdomyolysis along with persistent symptoms, which could hamper the return to daily activity. Children with EHS, particularly athletes, may be at risk for recurrent rhabdomyolysis.

Abstract While thyroid disturbances during perinatal and postnatal periods in preterm infants with congenital hypothyroidism reportedly disrupt neuronal development, no study has considered the effect of thyroid disturbances in premature infants with subclinical hypothyroidism with elevations of thyroid stimulating hormone. We aimed to identify altered fiber integrity from the thalamus to cortices in preterm infants with subclinical hypothyroidism. All preterm infants born were categorized according to thyroid stimulating hormone levels through serial thyroid function tests (36 preterm controls and 29 preterm infants with subclinical hypothyroidism). Diffusion tensor images were acquired to determine differences in thalamocortical fiber lengths between the groups, and cerebral asymmetries were investigated to observe neurodevelopmental changes. Abstract Anthropometric profiles are important indices for assessing medical conditions, including malnutrition, obesity, and growth disorders. Noncontact methods for estimating those parameters could have considerable value in many practical situations, such as the assessment of young, uncooperative infants or children and the prevention of infectious disease transmission. The purpose of this study was to investigate the feasibility of obtaining noncontact anthropometric measurements using the impulse-radio ultrawideband (IR-UWB) radar sensor technique. A total of 45 healthy adults were enrolled, and a convolutional neural network (CNN) algorithm was implemented to analyze data extracted from IR-UWB radar. The differences (root-mean-square error, RMSE) between values from the radar and bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) as a reference in the measurement of height, weight, and body mass index (BMI) were 2.78, 5.31, and 2.25, respectively; predicted data from the radar highly agreed with those from the BIA. The intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs) were 0.93, 0.94, and 0.83. In conclusion, IR-UWB radar can provide accurate estimates of anthropometric parameters in a noncontact manner; this study is the first to support the radar sensor as an applicable method in clinical situations.

PurposeAir pollutants contribute to asthma exacerbation, and the types of air pollutants involved in acute asthma exacerbation may differ depending on climate and environmental conditions. This study aimed to identify factors affecting asthma exacerbation in each of the four seasons so that to prevent acute asthma exacerbation and to establish effective treatment strategies for each season.MethodsPediatric patients aged 0–18 years old hospitalized or admitted to the emergency room for asthma exacerbation at Hanyang University Guri Hospital between January 1, 2007, and December 31, 2019 were recruited. The number of asthma exacerbations comprised the total number of patients admitted to the emergency room or hospitalized for asthma and treated with systemic steroids. The association between the number of asthma exacerbations/week and average concentrations of atmospheric substances and meteorological elements in that week were analyzed. Multiple linear regression analyses were performed to examine the association between various atmospheric variables and the number of asthma exacerbations.ResultsThe number of asthma exacerbations was found to be associated with the concentration of particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter of ≤10 μm in that week in autumn. No atmospheric variables exhibited an association in other seasons.ConclusionsAir pollutants and meteorological factors affecting asthma exacerbation vary by season. Moreover, their effects may change via their interaction with each other. The results of this study suggest that it will be helpful to establish differentiated measures for each season to prevent asthma exacerbation.

Abstract Background Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is a devastating disease in preterm infants with significant morbidities, including neurodevelopmental impairment (NDI). This study aimed to investigate whether NEC is associated with (1) brain volume expansion and white matter maturation using diffusion tensor imaging analysis and (2) NDI compared with preterm infants without NEC. Methods We included 86 preterm infants (20 with NEC and 66 without NEC) with no evidence of brain abnormalities on trans-fontanelle ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging at term-equivalent age (TEA). Regional brain volume analysis and white matter tractography were performed to study brain microstructure alterations. NDI was assessed using the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development-III (BSID-III) at 18 months of corrected age (CA). Abstract Despite the many comorbidities and high mortality rate in preterm infants with patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), therapeutic strategies vary depending on the clinical setting, and most studies of the related risk factors are based on small sample populations. We aimed to compare the performance of artificial intelligence (AI) analysis with that of conventional analysis to identify risk factors associated with symptomatic PDA (sPDA) in very low birth weight infants. This nationwide cohort study included 8369 very low birth weight (VLBW) infants. The participants were divided into an sPDA group and an asymptomatic PDA or spontaneously close PDA (nPDA) group. The sPDA group was further divided into treated and untreated subgroups. A total of 47 perinatal risk factors were collected and analyzed. Multiple logistic regression was used as a standard analytic tool, and five AI algorithms were used to identify the factors associated with sPDA. Combining a large database of risk factors from nationwide registries and AI techniques achieved higher accuracy and better performance of the PDA prediction tasks, and the ensemble methods showed the best performances.

In the untact COVID-19 era, the feasibility of a noncontact, impulse-radio ultrawideband (IR-UWB) radar sensor has important medical implications. Premature birth is a major risk factor for brain injury and developmental delay; therefore, early intervention is crucial for potentially achieving better developmental outcomes. Early detection and screening tests in infancy are limited to the quantification of differences between normal and spastic movements. This study investigated the quantified asymmetry in the general movements of an infant with hydrocephalus and proposes IR-UWB radar as a novel, early screening tool for developmental delay. To support this state-of-the-art technology, data from actigraphy and video camcorder recordings were adopted simultaneously to compare relevant time series as the infant grew. The data from the three different methods were highly concordant; specifically, the ρz values comparing radar and actigraphy, which served as the reference for measuring movements, showed excellent agreement, with values of 0.66 on the left and 0.56 on the right. The total amount of movement measured by radar over time increased overall; movements were almost dominant on the left at first (75.2% of total movements), but following shunt surgery, the frequency of movement on both sides was similar (54.8% of total movements). As the hydrocephalus improved, the lateralization of movement on radar began to coincide with the clinical features. These results support the important complementary role of this radar system in predicting motor disorders very early in life.

BackgroundKawasaki disease (KD) is the most common acquired heart disease among children in developed countries, but the etiology is still unclear. There are several hypotheses regarding the outbreak of KD, including infection, genetics, and immunity. Since breastfeeding plays an essential role in the immune system's composition, investigating breastfeeding's effects on the occurrence of KD would be an excellent way to identify the etiology of KD.AimTo determine whether the incidence of KD decreases with breastfeeding.MethodsThis nationwide cohort study analyzed data from the National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) in South Korea and included 1,910,438 infants who underwent their first National Children's Health Examination (NCHE) between 2008 and 2014. Feeding types were collected using a questionnaire in NCHE. The NHIS data and NCHE data were merged and analyzed. First, we investigated the effect of breastfeeding on the development of KD at 1 year of age. Then, we surveyed the age at which no significant effect appeared by expanding the observation range yearly.ResultsThe most prevalent feeding type in the study population was exclusive breastfeeding (41.5%). At 10–12 months of follow-up age, 3,854 (0.2%) infants were diagnosed with KD. Compared to the exclusive formula feeding group, the adjusted odds ratio (aOR) for KD was 0.84 [95% confidence interval (CI), 0.78–0.90] and 0.86 (95% CI, 0.79–0.94) in the exclusive and partial breastfeeding groups, respectively. At 22–24 months of age, aOR for KD was 0.94 (95% CI, 0.90–0.98) in the exclusive breastfeeding group and 0.98 (95% CI, 0.92–1.03) in the partial breastfeeding group. Drawing from the persuasion knowledge model, the present research demonstrates how providing comparable sustainability labels (i.e., labels with numeric sustainability level information) can help consumers make more sustainable choices at the point of purchase for consumer packaged goods. We provide empirical evidence from a field experiment and an online experiment to show how the presence and source of sustainability labeling affect consumer perceptions. Notably, we show that highly skeptical consumers are influenced by the source of labeling, whereas less skeptical consumers are less affected by the source but strongly influenced by the presence of labeling. We also demonstrate both the boundary condition and underlying mechanism in the sustainability labeling process. Our findings provide insights for practitioners and policymakers interested in presenting sustainability information at the retail shelf to inform and influence consumer decisions. Introduction: This cross‐sectional study aimed to determine the association between receiving external help after sexual harm and suicidal ideation among Korean adolescents. The help received was classified into professional and nonprofessional to test the strength of the association according to the type of help. Methods: Using data from the 2017−2019 Korean children and youth rights study, we analyzed a total of 18,740 middle and high school students. The dependent variable was suicidal ideation; the primary and secondary independent variable was experience of sexual harm and receiving help after sexual harm, respectively. Data were analyzed using χ2 tests and multivariable logistic regression analyses. Results: Experience of sexual harm was significantly associated with higher suicidal ideation, and receiving help after sexual harm was significantly associated with lower suicidal ideation compared with not receiving help, regardless of gender. Furthermore, lower suicidal ideation was more strongly associated with receiving professional help in female adolescents, and receiving nonprofessional help in male adolescents. Conclusions: Receiving help after sexual harm was negatively associated with suicidal ideation, and the strength of this association varied with gender and the type of help received. It is challenging to clinically distinguish between convulsive syncope and true seizure. We describe a 7-year-old girl presenting with generalized tonic seizure caused by acquired complete atrioventricular block related to acute myocarditis. After hospitalization following 6 episodes of new-onset fever with seizure, she had a short episode of abrupt complete atrioventricular block followed by another generalized tonic seizure. The concentrations of cardiac enzymes were elevated, and her echocardiogram showed a decreased left ventricular function. This case underlines the necessity of cardiac investigations in children with convulsive syncope.

Here we present a rare case of pulmonary arterial thrombosis associated with a ductus arteriosus aneurysm that caused severe pulmonary stenosis. A 5-day-old newborn was admitted to our hospital for the evaluation of an intracardiac mass-like lesion found after the detection of a cardiac murmur. Echocardiography and heart computed tomography revealed a mass-like lesion measuring 8.1 mm in diameter across the distal main pulmonary artery to the proximal left pulmonary artery resulting in localized severe stenosis of the left pulmonary artery. Left pulmonary artery angioplasty for surgical resection of the thrombus revealed that the mass was adherent to the proximal part of the left pulmonary artery anterior wall and extended to the ductus arteriosus. Histological examination of the mass showed an old thrombus with dystrophic calcification. Five months after surgery, follow-up echocardiography showed that the left pulmonary artery peak pressure gradient had decreased but the proximal left pulmonary artery stenosis remained. Cardiac catheterization and balloon angioplasty suc cessfully relieved the pulmonary stenosis.

BackgroundOnly few studies have investigated the role of probiotics in the development of obesity. We aimed to determine the efficacy and safety of an intake of Lactobacillus plantarum K50 (LPK) on body fat and lipid profiles in people with obesity.MethodsThis randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, clinical trial involved 81 adults with a body mass index of 25–30 kg/m2 who were assigned randomly to a diet including 4 × 109 colony-forming unit of LPK or a placebo. Changes in body fat, anthropometric parameters, and biomarkers of obesity were compared using a linear mixed-effect model.ResultsAfter 12 weeks of treatment, body weight, fat mass, and abdominal fat area did not change significantly in the two groups. However, total cholesterol levels decreased from 209.4 ± 34.4 mg/dL to 203.5 ± 30.9 mg/dL in the LPK group, but increased from 194.7 ± 37.5 mg/dL to 199.9 ± 30.7 mg/dL in the placebo group (P = 0.037). Similarly, triglyceride levels decreased from 135.4 ± 115.8 mg/dL to 114.5 ± 65.9 mg/dL in the LPK group, with a significant difference between groups. LPK supplementation also tended to decrease leptin levels compared with placebo. It also changed the distribution of gut microbiota significantly, with an increase in L. plantarum and a decrease in Actinobacteria, both of whose changes in abundance were correlated with changes in visceral adiposity, with borderline significance.ConclusionA 12-week consumption of LPK reduced the total cholesterol and triglyceride levels significantly with favorable alterations in microbiota, suggesting potential benefits for controlling blood lipid profiles.

Background: The gold standard for sleep monitoring, polysomnography (PSG), is too obtrusive and limited for practical use with tiny infants or in neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) settings. The ability of impulse-radio ultrawideband (IR-UWB) radar, a non-contact sensing technology, to assess vital signs and fine movement asymmetry in neonates was recently demonstrated. The purpose of this study was to investigate the possibility of quantitatively distinguishing and measuring sleep/wake states in neonates using IR-UWB radar and to compare its accuracy with behavioral observation-based sleep/wake analyses using video recordings.Methods: One preterm and three term neonates in the NICU were enrolled, and voluntary movements and vital signs were measured by radar at ages ranging from 2 to 27 days. Data from a video camcorder, amplitude-integrated electroencephalography (aEEG), and actigraphy were simultaneously recorded for reference. Radar signals were processed using a sleep/wake decision algorithm integrated with breathing signals and movement features.Results: The average recording time for the analysis was 13.0 (7.0–20.5) h across neonates. Compared with video analyses, the sleep/wake decision algorithm for neonates correctly classified 72.2% of sleep epochs and 80.6% of wake epochs and achieved a final Cohen's kappa coefficient of 0.49 (0.41–0.59) and an overall accuracy of 75.2%.Conclusions: IR-UWB radar can provide considerable accuracy regarding sleep/wake decisions in neonates, and although current performance is not yet sufficient, this study demonstrated the feasibility of its possible use in the NICU for the first time. This unobtrusive, non-contact radar technology is a promising method for monitoring sleep/wake states with vital signs in neonates.

Advances in digital technologies coupled with the explosion of data are transforming the marketing education landscape at a rapid pace. Given the scale and speed of digital disruption in today's industry, marketing academics face ongoing challenges of addressing the theory–practice gap, which will only accelerate. The purpose of the current study is to gain a better understanding of the current state of digital/social media marketing and analytics education through a review of past pedagogical research in the realm of digital/social media marketing and marketing analytics. The collected database (N = 54) was analyzed based on their category and scope, and sub-themes within each category. Our findings indicate that while business schools have been diligent in introducing important skill sets to their curriculum, the approach has been predominately tactical, rather than driven by an overarching strategic plan. Based on the findings, we discuss the implications for marketing educators and directions for future research that can help bridge the theory–practice gap as we proceed in the future data-driven digital environments. The immune system acts as a defense mechanism against foreign antigens. Impairment of the immune system leads to the development of chronic diseases such as respiratory infections, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and neurodegeneration. Macrophages, natural scavengers that are part of innate immunity, are known to directly participate in scavenging foreign antigens. The functional modulation of macrophages could be an effective treatment for pathogens. Seaweeds are marine macroalgae known to exhibit multiple bioactive properties. Thus, this study evaluated the immune-enhancing properties of marine brown algae extracts of Sargassum horneri (SH), Undaria pinnatifida (UP), and Sargassum fusiforme (SF) on murine macrophage cells. The results showed that all three algal extracts stimulated cell proliferation. SH and UP outshined SF in enhancing the expression levels of IL-1β, TNF-α, and IL-6 at almost all the concentrations tested as compared to SF which showed similar effects only at 200 or 400 μg/mL. A similar trend was seen in TNF-α, NO, and PGE2 production. Additionally, only SH and SF could enhance the mRNA expression levels of IL-12, and only SH upregulated the mRNA expression level of IL-10. The algal extracts also enhanced the phagocytosis activity of macrophages at 50–400 μg/mL for SH and 100–400 μg/mL for UP and SF. In conclusion, we found that these algal extracts could be considered immunomodulators that enhance the functional activity of macrophages. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
